I think so. But even on 240km/h which is my car's max speedometer; it never gets there. It stops at 8,000 rpm.

If it's an automatic in "Drive" mode and you somehow found the road to do reach 200km/h, and the car is at 8000rpm, there would be so much wind resistance blowing on the car at such speeds the car might never quite reach 240km/h. To achieve this by force, you would "gear down" in a manual or shift to "L" (beyond Drive) At such speed the car cannot decieve itself again. It will max out at the highest RPM to go beyond that 200km/h in a lower gear. It gives the engine more power to overcome the wind resistance and reach 240km/h but at the cost of a dangerously high RPM.

I sometimes do this at lower speeds if I want to overatake some useless tipper spraying sand on my car. And the car is still gently accelerating (thinking that I'm playing or something).

But note that only new cars with tight tolerance in pistons and cylinders can actually achieve their hightest rated speeds. As you use your car everyday, it gets older, the piston tolerance increases (the pistons wobble about more in the cylinder) and the car will never generate enough power to reach the max speed ever again. My car can't do more than 130 km/h pedal to metal. It's has tried. It's just a traffic jam champion.You might be surprised how low your speed will actually be if you do pedal to metal one clear fine day

Even at that, some cars don't REDLINE.

I believe the redline speed is to be reached slowly. Maybe on a very long smooth road, you take it up gently so the car can adjust by itself all that needs to keep the car ok .
Butbif you force it to suddenly redline, it will not work for safety reasons.

Just like your seatbelt. If you lean forward slowly, you can pull it and even touch your toes. If you jerk forward suddenly, it does not extend at all.

Probably the piston rings were not lubricated fast enough and burnt out. Now the car will continue to smoke and chop engine oil. Till you change the engine.

If a driver were redlining with you inside, you will still know. The engine will be too noisy for you to bear.

Unless, you are also deaf/handicapped. Even at that you will feel the vibration.

If you have then you won't blame this couple or anybody else. Am I saying they justified? No!. You do not truly know what it is to be truly hopeless, filled with darkness. Nothing seems to align despite what you throw at life. You truly don't know. You have always had it easy with your old folks(Dad or mum subsidizing everything for you). You truly don't know pain and frustration that is so awful that your very logical reasoning is blinded. You would do anything to survive.

Most of the successful people you call "Canadians&Americans" came from immigrant families.

Why are they mostly successful than the very indigenous people of that society?
Simple. They and their parents migrated from a society that limited and stagnated their true potentials. Now they exposed to a society where things really work. Where you can really achieve success if you just put in a little of the hard work they put in a society like ours but still get to experience no true growth.

They see that the Indigenes of these First World don't understand the value of the "awesome" system they have and Boom! the immigrants succeed against all odds. Something normally that won't happen for them in their original countries. This is not just a Nigerian thing. Look at the Indians too. See how they migrate out. People like Anik Signal, Gary V, Obama, etc would have not been the success story they are if they were in their original locales.

The Indians that migrated out are making it outside.
India itself and all the people that remained behind, are better than Nigeria.
We need to fix our nation.
