Like I said before, I am building in ABA but stationed in Enugu.
I can give you the number of a seller of rods in the building materials market in ogbor hill. He can assist you greatly.
If you have a trust worthy friend or family member, negotiate everything with the builder with exception of materials.Let your contact buy the materials.
Note that this can work if that person is always around to monitor usage.
It's hard out there.
Wish you strength
A million thanks bro.
Unfortunately, am building in my village in Imo state and therefore, transport and logistics might cripple my purchases from Aba. To this effect, I have been buying from Owerri, Mbano Anara and Amaraku.
My cousin in Enugu has been handling the woodworks though. I also provide enough data to monitor activities through live video, when am free.

Thank you. Any idea of 16mm today proce in replacement of the 20mm? I will tell him not to use the 20mm as quoted.
Also, between metecopo and stone coated roofing sheets, which one is more durable considering a location where it rains more often? I was advised against stone coated by a seller I contacted off here, with reason that there's always a leakage experience... he told me to go for metecopo. Please which one is best recommended to be used ?
For certain reasons and style, am settling for the stone coated. I understand it is fire resistant and durable. On the other hand it is heavier. However, am convinced that for taste, stone coated is my choice, the weight isn't a problem because I have 32 columns of 16mm to handle it. Let some experienced builders in the house help us out too. Good luck to you.
Meanwhile, 16mm was sold for 3,600 naira, 12mm sold for 2,100 naira in Owerri today according my source.
And don't be in a hurry!!!

My 50x100 plot of land is up for sale. I have decided not to use the plot anymore. Please contact me if you are interested.
Note: Please contact me directly as I have not appointed anyone to act on my behalf. The plot belongs to me.

This is what he sent to me this evening... are all these the actual prices of materials in the east (Aba, Abia state to be precise). I will appreciate to be guided by the wonderful people of this forum. Note this is for remodeling of a storey building. If need may be, I can still upload the existing building here, so as to be guided properly.
Wachtout!
He quotes and tells you it's 20mm, the 20mm on your list is a ghost!
Unless he wants to add an overhead bridge your house!
I live abroad too and my 6 bedroom duplex is approaching roofing. I started my building personally. Tag me for more tips if it suits you.

ofcourses yes, this luxury windows designs, for presidents governors, ambassadors, executives, men's and women's of honors ordinary people dont use this, we do this with. Nigalex, Ebm.

Note there are two burglaries attach to this windows, one at the front one at the back
Hope you won't send me scampering away with price. You just added me to the list of presidents, governors, ambassadors etc. Am doing it because it's my taste and I don't live in Nigeria. I prefer to protect my glass windows to exposing them. Let me see a sample of your job. I want just one burglary proof outside to protect the glass, not inside.

HsLBroker:
yes but very expensive, but not same as this burglary design, the project onwer gave us a specific design from usa and even instructed us never to post the finish windows online, for a reason best known to him and we respect that fact.
Well, I will want something like this with more attention to the framing and edges. Anything else might change but not the framing and casement. Am approaching roofing stage on my 6 bedroom duplex. Its important I see samples of similar jobs done by you.
How else do you intend to sell such product?

@Dennis3D
@Enyinne

Even in a world of Dog eat Dog, both of you made it today with maturity, wisdom and responsibility. And that's what I expect to be displayed especially in a public forum! Last month, I also cautioned two members on same approach. This is not a court or committee. Therefore, the harder you try to label one another as Devil, the more clients and contacts you may lose from the Forum and their contacts. Fight that anger, confusion, misunderstanding with caution, and you both will be clinging glasses in the end. Gladly, no one was killed, injured or robbed. Just a split second reaction to a misunderstanding or misrepresentation.
Keep up with all your genuine endeavors.

What really annoys me is that when you ask these architects to design a house for you, they would come with nothing but those archaic pillars with tiles all over telling you that it's what is in vogue. Another one is this roofs that will be twice taller than the house itself. And they would tell you everybody is doing it that way. Honestly, I hate those "National Anthem" styles.
I guess it's just unique.
Even the White House has pillars at the approach. It's only about your taste. You mustn't follow the "crowd". I did mine because i like it and shows uniqueness and strength, not because everyone is doing it.
In fact am using the square type instead of the round pillars. It's different strokes for different folks.

Two thing contributed to the final finishing of the plastering/rendering.

1. Level of workmanship
2. Nature of material ( sand)

1. To get well smooth surface level of workmanship determines this in most cases.

2. Nature of the sand used will determine the final look of the plaster when dry up, some plaster sand are yellowish in nature and no mater what you do the final look will still look yellowish.
Some plaster sand also are grey in nature this will looks like cement colour after it drys up even in wet form you will notice it.

Here are few pics of what I did in the past and presently
Amazing......if this is your handwork.
Smooth and glossy. One would think it's a grey coloured glass!
Edges are sharp and lines well taken care of!
Kindly send me your contacts here. Let's keep in touch.

They don't use cladding tile in Europe ( as I assume from the house model and environment), wall in Europe consist of inner(block) and outer (bricks)part, the thickness depends on the environment and weather conditions (Germans, Scandinavian and Eastern Europe have thicker walls than houses in western Europe), some walls are insulated. Tiles are mostly used indoors and veranda.
Great contribution!
Meaning...i have no worries if I do the cladding tiles for my building in Nigeria?

They mostly use stone tiles in Naija instead of the bricks.

Advantages - form of insulation for winter and easy to maintain, no painting, when dirty just blasted-wash it down.
Disadvantages - Warm in summer but who cares, there is air-condition to cool down the house... 24/7/365(6) electricity supply anyway... smiley Sorry for Naija o. We go get there one day; probably.

That's a thick smooth brick I think, it usually place on the outside while inside has the normal hollow building blocks.
Yeah, I meant bricks earlier not tiles. Most buildings here have this trend of bricks as you described. Am still searching for anyone done with just cladding tiles around my area.

I apologize for the delay in posting some pics. My schedules have become so irregular due to the famous Covid-19. I just go past in hurry without remembering the pics until today. This building is about 48 years old and had this tiles done in the year 2000! Twenty years ago! This is exactly what am talking about.

Both are good, depends on your choice.
However, I would term that of concrete Parapet as stronger because of the components and materials in it and it's lot more heavier and costs more than that of the precast.

Preferably for buildings more than 2 floors, I would suggest concrete to precast Parapet.
Simple, Professional and Precise.
Thanks for your contribution. I appreciate it.

Please give me your views in favour of or against the conventional concrete parapet and precast parapet.
What will be your choice and why?

Folks! Originally, my duplex plan has 4 round pillars at the approach. But am replacing them with square ones. I stumbled on this pic here and humbly ask for permission from the owner. If you're still available, please get in touch. If not, please allow others to declare their interest.
Thank you for your understanding.

Hey, I just recieved a response regarding the cladding tiles i talked about here.
I guess its Bruno Bruno farad. I'll be contacting him for my job specifications, descriptions and material types. It's a 6 bedroom duplex without void and an inbuilt car garage at the rear in my villa. Level of work is on the upper floor but suspended until my next vacation. I believe in strength and quality, therefore started foundation with 16mm rods and 32 columns castings.

I know where you are heading. I hope the quality of the tiles/stones hold up as they use oven baked bricks over here to do that, and it lasts for ever. No plastering of blocks first, they just use it to cover the blocks with water-proof cement to hold it together. It beats external painting anytime and can be blaster-washed to clean like new.

Hajji M.
Affirmative!
My neighbours and many others here in Germany used it and it's so amazing. Imagine the rains doing the cleaning and washing of the exterior walls with every downpour for over 3 decades.
I'll get some clear pictures and dates of the jobs done when I pass by.

Sure.
I expect that it will be expensive. But I rather spend now than having to paint my building periodically after completion. Am pouring in all cash meant for plastering and painting into this version of cladding tiles.

Perfecttouchade:
yes the net will be Sliding inside the net track and the burglary is not the embedded one, so the burglary will be on its own separately but we also need to consider rainfall which might enter through the open space in the burglary and get stucked in between the net tracks and the Casement...but we can just drill a hole for the water to escape..TBH I've not tried this and I'm just trying to imagine the whole set up and see if the disadvantages won't be of harm than good..our regular Aluminium windows here in Nigeria are always opening outside.
We have enough time. Please do a good study and report back to me. Others might be interested as this trend would protect casement too. One thing is certain...I will not expose my casement while burglary proof remains inwards. The beauty of the casement might vanish but a good job like the above would make up for it.
