good u have all your documents ready, basically most likely questions u'l be asked have already been tabled in this forum but it all bboils down to how u answer d question the consular throws at you since its basically, every reply generates next question so be careful with choice of words and like we all say KEEP YOUR ANSWERS OR REPLIES AS BRIEF,SHORT, STRAIGHTFORWARD AS EVER |

@House,i got to Calif yesterday, the Journey wasnt easy at all, close to 12hrs from Lagos to Atlanta, close to 5hrs from Atlanta to LA,then another 2 hours drive to my school,I kavent settled down really but mere looking at what i am seeing, its not easy at all especially with accomodation here,Does anybody know when a student can transfer? Is it after a semester or session,I will also be happy if anybody knows of schools in Long beach or Maryland which gives a free tuition to transfer student. This is because i have relatives in those two places,so i will be staying with them,so accomodation and feeding will be easy for me,Abeg,i need quick responses.Spring hopefuls,i wish you all the best in your admission process,Just follow this thread and i am sure you will all laugh at the end.
OjaP, well i guess that wat everyone comes here to find out, anyways im also in maryland and if you talking about free tuition, don't waint for it cos there is none and since ur an international transfer student the more difficult, best il advise is transfer after d 1st semester or year and then if u talk about maryland, depends on the area where your folks stay so i can help tell u the closest school to them, holla |

Folks,
I had my emergency student visa interview scheduled for Abuja at 1PM yesterday (29TH). The Chinese lady scrutinized everyone she interviewed thoroughly and was very detailed so she is definitely a tough cookie but remember as long as you are composed and legitimate you should be fine.
Fortunately i had the nice guy he asked me several questions which i will share shortly. I was given the green ticket and i was granted a visa. In my euphoria i cant remember when they asked me to come collect the visa however i will go back on Monday to pick it up as everyone given before me were asked to come on Monday for there visa's.
Congratulations to everyone that got there visa's today and for those that didn't get it please don't loose hope, learn from your mistakes and also this forum and go conquer.
I should be out of this joint Monday after collecting my visa or Tuesday and headed for Louisiana.

got my student visa this morning. I woke up around 4.30am, left my house around 5.30am and got to the Lagos embassy at 6.10am but I still met people. After the cue, the hussles and the waiting, I was interviewed by 8.50am. The guy that interviewed me already rejected two students in front of me so when he called the next person I don enter am today(for my mind), so the interview below
me: good morning c: good day, hw ar u today, your I-20, passport and application please me: gave him c: oh u are going for a masters in physics me: yes c:I did my undergraduate studies in physics at UCBerkeley even though I work as a consular. me: for my mind I say na me send u do consular job. c: so what is super string theory(advanced level physics question even MSc holders for physics go stammer small) me: explained everything in details c: looked at me and said, the Einstein unification theory, do u believe in it me: yes c:why me: explained in details(einsteins unification in the 30's, abdus salam unification in the 60's) and I said maybe I will be the next to unify the four forcesand get the God unified theory c:laughs, may be I will do the research with u. what do u want to do with a graduate degree in physics me:explained my research option(nanophysics), and told him its relevance in todays world and Nigeria. c:I can see u have a scholarship, can i see a letter to this effect(about 35k per year for 2yrs) me: gave him c: why didnt you choose UCB me: because they dont do experimental nanophysics but theoretical(I just said sometin sha even though I wasnt sure) c: which school did u finish from me: University of Lagos c: ok, i am checking your sevis payment, gave me the green ticket and a white paper to pick up my visa,
House, even though the interview was technical I thank God I scaled through, I was not asked for any documents unless my scholarhip letter, house you can actually wow the consular, when I was explaining all the physics jagons, he was lyk wow!!!!!!!!!!!celebration mood nw, NC here I come.

I transferred and I had 2.5 years left (if I don't take summer classes), was only given 2 years. Which means I have to go back to Canada, cos it can't be renewed in the U.S. Yeah, someone said that already, you can stay in the U.S. with the expired visa, as long as you're in status. But, that means you can't travel outta here. Why would anyone want to stay here during every school break?
@ mohaka: That's sad & kinda weird. I know many people who've gotten visas to 2-yr community colleges. Anyways, yeah - apply again. I believe you have to pay the SEVIS fee again. What do you mean his age gave him away? Do you mean he was too old or too young? My brother applied when he was 20, I was 18. My sister was 16. 5.30, OMG!!! The US embassy where I live won't even be open at that time. I arrived there between 7 & 7.30. My interview was at 8.30. But, it's definitely advisable to get there early although on the day of my interview, the consular called names out when it was time to be interviewed. I think it was alphabetically, my 2 names start with B, so I was prob the 3rd or 4th person to be interviewed.
The CO obviously thot he was young enough to have applied for a 4-year programme rather than 2 year, didn't say he was too young. |
