when is your interview? fill another ds 160 with purpose - medical tourism. fill in the contact info of your doctor and/or hospital. submit the ds 160 form. print the confirmation page. call the US consulate and tell them that you would like to change the ds160 form number on your appointment page as it has an error and you filled another form. They would ask you for your details, and ask that you email a scanned copy of the new ds160 confirmation page and your passport biodata page. email this to them and give a call back when you do to escalate. the new ds160 form no will be corrected on your cgi platform within 48hrs. print out the new appointment page with the new ds160 number and you are good to go.
This is assuming your interview is at least 3-5 days from now.
For further enquiry - call the consulate.

your own case when don use visa tire is not even in this pool oh! technically speaking, you can even go on a birth tourist trip without having to send a letter of intent mail. your own group of people na to hold doctor documents for hand.
LadyGuinivere:
What about us when don use our visas tire, renew tire. Come carry belle? Hian. Mae this door never close o! But serzly sha @FTM has a point. Use the visa. Pick a low peak period. Choose a cheap destination. Then truly change the intent.
Again we need to come up with other locations for birthing. Nobody has explored the Reno option somebody mentioned. Houston don tire for us o!
Btw a friend just birthed triplets in houston. Paid all her bills but used medicaid for NICU. 70k usd for 2 weeks. I tried explaining why she shudnt take it, she no hear.

@FTM share the transcript mbok!
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by vcole: 12:20pm On Jan 07, 2016
US local flights charge $25 for your first checked in bag, $35 for the 2nd checked in bag and $100 for any additional checked in bag. Also if you fly local, remember that on your retutn leg, you would have to pick up your bags and then commute to the international wing and re-check them in for your international leg since your tickets are seperate.
This can be quite tasking with a baby and all. So, i really won't advise that.
ccurrie:
Thank you vcole. Final destination is Houston. I sent a letter of intent cuz I've had a visa and they have replied. Ticket fares are about the same...but for JFK, no airline is going from there to Houston so I wl have to find a domestic flight.

with this info, any further help? Please...I can't buy my ticket with all this uncertainty and I have 2 weeks . thanks.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by vcole: 11:51am On Jan 07, 2016
In my opinion, if you want to go for birth purposes simply apply for a US medical tourist visa. Seeing as it is not illegal to give birth in the states, adequate planning and preparation would most likely result in a visa grant.
Also, I think it is best to just go with the document from the doctor/hospital that you are actually going to use instead of one you just contacted for POE purposes.
Honesty is usually the best and safest policy really.
firsttymum:
A friend of mine is in Houston right now.
I didn't even know she was on nairaland... She got all her information here. But she saw hell at the poe. I had to forcefully get her interview and poe transcript... Will post later.

Anyway

Her colleague was asked to log into her phone.
She was sent back

The cbp guys said alot of us are coming here with this letter... We get the visa first for vacation then get pregnant and we now send an email to the embassy. It's too much of a coincidence that most people get that visa for vacation on a planned date and suddenly change their mind.. But later come pregnant with a change of intent letter.. And bla bla bla. Lemme quote her quote of his statement " U don't suddenly cancel a family vacation and we all can't suddenly b cancelling family vacation, that's too much of a coincidence"
They delayed her for about 10 hours or more and sent her back.

she said they were all just pissed off about the same story of "I got d visa before I got pregnant for vacation but I changed my mind when I got pregnant "

These ghost members are seriously putting sand in our garri...

This just happened.

TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by vcole: 10:49am On Jan 07, 2016
It all depends on the following.
1. Did you declare birth purposes at visa interview or did you send a letter of intent?
2. Where is your final destination?
3. Ticket fares.

Generally people say JFK POE is easier but other folks have had proper scrutiny there as well with secondary inspection and delays.
Houston POE is said to be tough, Atl also somewhere in the middle of these 2. However ppl have passed through without so much hassle, others have had hassle, others have been turned back.

Bottom line, if you have all your necessary documentation, go for the shortest duration. 12 hr flight 9ja to houston or atl. Unless you wanna fly arik, 12 hr flight to jfk. (Lol!)
You may have to go for secondary inspection but as long as you have all the right documentation and enough funds, you'll eventually gt through.

ccurrie:
Please atl jfk or houston poe. please advise based on experience n Wat uv heard. thanks. HELP!!!

There used to be a Doctor Abass at doctor's hospital that people have used in the past if I'm not mistaken. Try searching the thread.
teefex:
For doctor's hospital their maternity package fee is 3k but don't know about CS. Is finding a doctor that is the problem, most of their doctors don't take patients that are more than 28 weeks. Was considering the hospital before but when I found out about the 28 weeks from almost 4 doctor's that I called, I had to reconsider.

i am happy myself. was beginning to worry. Dr F is very well seasoned in his practise. plenty accolades up and down would have been quite sad to have red flags flying on top easy documentation like it did for Dr M at E***o
favoredgal:
He will give you the discount.

Personally, I'm happy dr F has woken up to smell the coffee, before his correspondence become scorned at embassy and POE

Most of the people iv met here in Houston that have so many negative things to say about him don't even know anyone that has used him personally

Dr Amajoh and dr Ezekiel should be encouraged to give their patients correspondence too to keep everything balanced

I absolutely agree. The banks are taking advantage of the disorderliness from CBN to rip us off. Even black market is 265 or so, GTB charged me 270 yesterday. It's a huge scam and CBN is pussyfooting because they have bigger issues on their hands re economy in free fall.

The truth is that the banks are still accessing CBN at inter bank rates so I have no clue why they are charging the end users such a huge amount.

Imagine, earlier this year I made a USD transaction (charged at 270), transaction failed, when my cash was reversed, I was given 199. There is simply NO justification for such a spread. If they had given me 260, or even 250 I would not be complaining.

I dey go sleep jor, I cannot "tight" Nigeria's problems to my chest angry

TravelRe: Giving Birth In Canada by vcole: 9:09am On Jan 06, 2016
well, i may be wrong but from what i have gathered, about CAD5,000 should more than cover your cost of care. However, the canadian health system is different from the US, its more of the UK NHS-kinda system, only its way better service. Basically, you may not be able to contact a doctor or hospital yourself. Its usually a friend/relative who would hook you up with a GP who would then refer you to an ob/gyn who would handle your care and deliver you at the closest hospital to your place of residence.
I think since you are starting early, you should apply via the online or paper route. Declare birth or delivery purposes under "other" where you are asked for purpose of visit. Speak with your uncle if he could liaise with his GP to get a letter. If that works out, then you fill in the doc/hospital details under contact. However, if it proves impossible, then you can fill your uncle's details as contact and let him give you a letter of invitation. he can chip in somewhere that you intend to access medical care while on this trip and that you have made funds available to cover the cost of care and would be returning to Nigeria after.
kehara:
@ vcole thanks. My husband also thinks that the right thing to do, declare our intention in the application.

I don't know if there is anyone who has gone to Ontario Scarborough and could assist with contact details of a doctor who would be willing to give an overview of the service and cost of care.
TravelRe: Giving Birth In Canada by vcole: 4:47pm On Jan 05, 2016
We are as unsure as you are as to what the "correct" thing to do is. Do you declare that you want to have a baby? does that mean you would be granted or refused a visa? The matter tire person oh!
Since you already have a history of a refused application, i think you should apply and state that you want to have a baby. Fill in your uncle's details as contact. Also, put in his invitation letter. Make sure you have funds available. Then, if he can, let him try to get you a doctor or hospital.....they may not give you any document but a general overview of the service and cost of care should suffice.
You can also opt to just apply for a regular tourist visa and then travel early when your bump is not obvious.
However, have a US visa as a back up plan just incase.
kehara:
I applied for a tourist visa in 2010 with my husband and my passport was sent back for a medical test. I didn't declare in the application I was pregnant and already 30 weeks. I went for the test and got a refusal that our intention for traveling was not clear. We used hotel reservation.

Am 17 weeks pregnant now and want to apply again with my daughter. I have two kids. A Nigerian and American.

Should I declared in my application I would be having a baby in Canada because of the past history or just apply for a tourist visa.

My uncle lives in Ontario and would be giving us a letter of invitation.

choi! inform how now? sheybi na online visa app na. abi na to put birth under "other"?
I will find out the hospital and get back to you. she is still there though.
Phema:
The waka tire me jare. The thing no just dey straightforward at all like the US one. I know someone too, who just had her baby and says the documentation process is taking forever. But she did enter at about 35 weeks.

Another one was refused entry at POE cos she didn't inform the embassy of her birthing plans.

Which hospital did your friend use?

Please has anyone flown Air france lately? Any helpful info?
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by vcole: 9:58am On Jan 05, 2016
Hi. You are on the right track getting the bathroom scale. I did the same myself. Your hand luggage is fine. They may not even weigh that as long as it doesn't look too "loaded" lol!
They would most likely waive the 0.9kg excess, but the 30.8 won't be waived. The policy is $100 for overweight bags >23 kg and < or = 32kg. this is for your regular checked in allowance.
Extra luggage (23kg limit) costs $200. An extra bag is basically an additional checked in bag. I think you are allowed to check in a maximum of 7 extra bags at $200 each.
Now, if that extra bag is overweight (>23kg and < or = 32kg) you would be charged an additional $100. Making an extra overweight bag charge of $300.
I hope my explanation is detailed enough. LOL!
I travelled on BA DFW-LOS with my sis inlaw and my mom. we had 15 checked in boxes between us so I dissected their baggage policy well.
oyin3:
@Vcole
Please dearest, One more thing,I actually got a bathroom scale to check what my luggage weighs, asides of luggage baby's entitled too. Mine are; hand luggage- 8kg, 1st box- 23.9kg and,2nd box- 30.8kg, also have a large hand bag. Do you have any idea what I would be looking at regards payment for excess luggage? Or am I better off getting an extra box so i might as well pay for excess, if it amount to the same charges for a little extra, or an entirely added luggage. Hoping this isn't Jamb question. :-/. Thanks a bunsh!

happy new year everyone. it depends on your route Oyin. for instance if you are flying from the US to Dubai (dubai being your final destination), its 1 box of 23kg allowed. However i am assuming Nigeria is your departure and arrival port right? so its 2 checked in bags of 23kg each and 1 hand luggage up to 8kg, 1 laptop bag, 1 carry on/hand bag. Infant has 1 checked in bag of 23kg, Car seat and stroller also checked in free, 1 hand luggage up to 8kg, 1 diaper bag.
oyin3:
Please anyone knows what the baggage allowance for BA? Checked online and it says, one checked luggage -23kg and a hang luggage? I thought its meant to be 2 23kg and a hand luggage? I really don't want any surprises or to pay for extra.
