hi all. @fortissimo i think the issue was that the other investment of 464k may have been seen by the officer as not "unencumbered" funds and that they may not be readily available. so s/he most likely worked with the fixed deposit which would obviously have stated a date of availability and with oanda that comes to CAD10,381.00 which is below the minimum required amount. I would advise that she liquidates that 464k investment and add it to her available funds and submit an updated total balance and then write a cover letter explaining that she had included that investment as pof earlier with all d necessary documentation and then she can do the conversion as jesusdway suggested and put in a document showing the oanda conversion rate also. @bosypumpin, 126 is awarded for masters/professional degree. so if you select the bachelors degree level, you should be awarded 112 i believe. @iphie25, funds given to you as a gift can be deposited as a lump sum provided a letter of explanation is given to that effect. @doggys, kindly renew your international passport first. you are allowed to renew your passport up to 3 months before it expires. |
to the best of my knowledge wes does not charge separate fees for your different credentials evaluation for the same ECA report. i have also read about some folks here who just sent in their masters transcript and copies of their bachelors certificate for ECA. i do not know if the eca came out as masters degree or as 2 degrees. I may be wrong though. hartson: |
yea. the thing is that WES 'may' evaluate an mbbs or bds or bpharm or pharmD as a bachelors degree while another evaluating body may evaluate them as professional degree. I quite understand your dilemma. I notice that the entry qualifications for job occupations under the NOC are an indication as to what is required to enter a career in that job field. Sometimes it does not match up with what the cic requirement to gain a point on that educational level is. It appears to me that WES is evaluating your LLB as an equivalent 4 yrs bachelors degree in Canada (not necessarily the equivalent of a bachelors of law degree in Canada) and as an equivalent first professional degree required to practice law in Nigeria. The issue is whether the b part of the statement is in conjunction with the first or is made as a "stand alone" and if the first professional degree required to practice law in Nigeria is same as that in Canada. Just like WES evaluates a Nigerian nursing diploma; RN as a 3 yrs training in a hospital......which literally does not place a nurse anywhere on the CRS right now. Ideally they should fall into the "2 yrs diploma" category but since the ECA does not state that it's like a stuck in limbo phase. Very ambiguous something. You would definitely want to clear this up to avoid an allegation of "misrepresentation" at the PR app stage. However you should not be worried about your EEP as you have not yet responded to an ITA and up until that point you can still modify your profile if need be. iphie25: |
Evaluate only your "highest qualification" is the recommendation. You may want to take into consideration which of your degrees is most relevant to your intended occupation as well as your present occupation for which you intend to claim work experience for. You pay a flat rate for the wes eca for all your academic qualifications. I would advise that you evaluate one of your masters' degree, as evaluating both would give the same report. It is easier and faster to evaluate a foreign qualification because of the faster/simpler process of transcripts request/verification from foreign schools. However if you would need to gain points for an ECA of "2 or more degrees" on your CRS then you should consider evaluating your bachelors as well as your masters' degree. Runn: |
this is why WES is not the evaluating body for mbbs. The MCC evaluates a Nigerian mbbs as a professional degree. iphie25: |
i no be shareholder oh! no vex. i was only #doubtingthomas and others - older members even defended you sef and called me out on my post oh. No use me do SI unit for shareholders preventing others from sharing story oh. Everyone matter dey different. Thanks. kemmytino: |
Hi ugoiyke79e, good to find a doc who has done an eca recently. what school did you finish from? @esosa4real, @ebho, kindly click on my moniker and read my previous posts. i had put up a detailed explanation for mbbs eca a couple of weeks back. @ebho, i will advise that you encourage your wife to also get involved in reading the thread and in getting more info on the EE process as well as researching her job possibilities and options in Canada seeing as she intends to be the principal applicant for your fam. @esosa4real, you can do everything from Saudi Arabia, however you would need to get someone at your school to help facilitate the verification process. You would also need to get a police clearance from Nigeria as well as reference letters from your previous employers. However, these would be needed in the later stages......unless you anticipate a prolonged delay in getting reference letters or an inability to travel to Nigeria at any point prior to submission of your application. I am yet to find any mbbs holder who has shared their experience on either the fsw or EE and successful PR process and life after landing in canada. If una see any abeg make una holla me too. @iphie25 thanks for link. |
Sigh. No mail thus far. Congrats to all who've been selected thus far. Congrats ceelog. Public management is also a great track and your training institute is a great school too. Update- we regret to inform you......mail received oh. |

I was in El paso. I am not embarking on another birth journey yet oh! Lol @desert it was a very pocket-friendly desert i suppose. Varvara: |
Yea she did and was so straight forward from the start and kept the thread updated then with her visa app, mihs contact and accomodation ish when she got to phoenix. I think we should also understand that nairaland is an online forum and some people do better at virtual conversation and not so great at face-to-face and that shouldn't be held against them. One person's shy or private attitude may be read as snobbish and another's friendly attitude as over-bearing. so pls cut people some slack and allow them be themselves. This agent thing reminds me of someone who used an agent to apply for a visa to give birth in the US and went for the interview and the letter her agent gave her was for a conference in Singapore. HAhahahahahahahahah!!!! ![]() So,@ insisting on seeing and filling your forms was just right. I understand some persons are too busy to do visa apps themselves or for some other reason(s) prefer to use an agent. there's no harm in that as long as you use a reputable one and you take the pains to ensure every document runs by you first and you scrutinize them. nefertitiram: Varvara: twizzie: |
Congrats dear. Ye2ndearisto: |
ur welcome dear. chai! academic oh. sigh, pele that 52k no be beans nowadays. this ielts thing na money-making venture for british council oh. prolify: |
Well, i think it is really up to you to decide which of his passports you wanna use. It may just be easier to use the Nigerian passport for this PR purpose. And yea, you get to save money/time spent on 9ja visa. SlowlybtSurely: |
hello Varvara! i remember you from pt 1. how you told the VO when he was probing during your interview that us citizenship was one of your reasons for travelling ![]() We arrived the states on d same day back in 2014 and had our babies about the same time although i wasn't in Phoenix. Congrats on your new baby! i pray you have a smooth and safe pregnancy and delivery. Unfortunately mihs stopped taking international patients. I looked at the sarasota package, not bad. maybe check for doctors first and compare prices? Varvara: |
congrats. i have been keeping an eye out for an update on your ielts seeing as you were so focussed on prep and all. iphie25: |
@TheLeakyTribe e-hugs for all of this wahala. well, crazy story but i've heard of it before. However most people say that the jazz clears immediately the money is handed over. so why didn't she come back after? also why did she come at night, sneaking in to get her stuff? where was she staying all the time she wasn't home? all of this has to be clearly explained. And yes, the police has to be paid to enable them actually carry on with the case oh. this is how NPF works in 9ja. It is wrong but it is the reality. The angle of tracing those numbers via the mobile network should be worked on. @girlloom, sigh. i wish you took heed to my advice....i am sorry for the situation you are in. manage it to the best of your ability. Take the lessons learned and at least you'll know better how to plan another trip next time. e-hugs. |
@TheLeakyTribe I don't know if you have left or not. Please if you have not, kindly make sure you make a police report alongside your husband. If you have, then your husband can make it. If you have any receipt of the purchase, pls hold that. If you do not, get the bdc to issue you one. Then get your bank statement showing the naira transaction. I'm sure you can get that online. There is a number that is supposed to be like a police customer care. I'm not sure who they are but I do know that you can call them after you have made a police report and give details of your case including the area command and they will follow up your case. If you contact the mobile networks, they can locate her phone as well as last dialed numbers and trace her. A relative went through this a few months ago and USD was stolen by her maid and her sisters maid. Both colluded as they were aware that my relative and her sister were embarking on a business trip and had changed quite a large sum. To cut a long story short, they were apprehended by the police after a few days and the funds were recovered. Even her agent can be made to produce her relatives or friends. Pls don't let this go just yet, pursue it to a logical conclusion ASAP. Prompt report and persistent "pressing" of the NPF and you will get results. @girlloom do NOT look at this through the eyes of "he is my relative" The advise to thread carefully is to thread carefully for yourself and your LO and not to put another person's interest first before yours. You and your LO are your priority one. If at any point in the future he is caught on any tax fraud, his entire tax history will be audited and you could be taken as an accomplice. Silence after all means consent. I can only advise you on what I would do if this happened to me. I would call the IRS and I would visit my local social security office. I would tell them that I got my LO's social security number a few days ago and it was already opened and I would like to know if this is a cause for concern especially as regards identity theft. They would advise on the next step. If you want to play safe, you can be silent on the happenings that led to you discovering that it was open. You can say that you were not home when it was delivered and that by the time you saw it, it was already open. However I must state here that if your host did open it, he invaded your privacy. If he did claim taxes for your LO without your consent then he commited a crime. It's that simple. Relative or not. |
Hello. Are you married? do you have other kids? all of these may come into play. With a tight budget, you may want to consider air fares for additional children in your budget. if you do have a partner then you can both sponsor the trip. otherwise, you're just 18 weeks and you still have time to adequately plan for another interview. i'll advise you book another appointment for an interview in about 8-12 weeks. build your account between now and then. A realistic budget should be about $15k or official equivalent of 3 million naira. Since you are employed, your letter of introduction from your employer should state that you would be on paid leave. If you have any lump sum lodgements, it should preferably come from your spouse or employer with a letter from them to that effect and should stay in your account for a while before your interview. Search for and contact a doctor/hospital via telephone and email or even regular post as you have people there who can receive mail on your behalf. get your correspondence prepared. Preferably get a doctor/hospital that would accept pre-payment and one that has not been used so many times. Re-apply and be clear on your intention of travel and always offer the documents you have to the VO whether you are asked for them or not. For instance, the VO asks, where would you be staying....you answer and slide a letter from whomever you are staying with through for him/her to see.......Read through the thread carefully, so many persons have posted their transcripts you would learn from those. Be prepared and hope for the best. princessbee: |
lwkmd! Congratulations btw. bigfido: |
For UK visa purposes, documentation is everything. Get a letter of introduction from your employer, payslips, cash payment letters, salary account statement AND any other personal account statements that you possess. If your company is sponsoring the trip, also include a detailed letter of sponsorship from your company and the company bank statements as well. Include the letter of invitation from the UK company. Add other relevant documents and re-apply and keep your fingers crossed. arowoloaffiss: |
You can apply for a visitor visa. Put in all your necessary documents, including your bank statement(s), university certificate, etc. If you have the letter of invitation for the interview, then you can print it out and add to your documents. if you don't, ask the company for one. Get a hotel reservation for your intended stay and write a cover letter introducing yourself and your current circumstances and your reason for applying, etc and stay positive. Yes, you can apply for a priority visa at the Ikeja VAC. its an added fee but you'll get fast track processing. hsim247:This may be late now but yes, you need him to write you a letter of sponsorship stating that he will be financially responsible for your trip. You should also include proof of his employment (letter of intro from his employer, employment letter, payslips), or business registration documents if he's self employed or any source of income such as rent receipts, landed documents if he has those. Also, submit your personal bank statement irrespective of the amount of funds contained therein. Yes, you can use the statement. the rule is that your documents should not be older than 28days. harriesvivian: |
Walmart, Amazon, Burlington. I bought a delta children's sweet beginnings bassinet. was on sale for about $49 at the time. however, it requires coupling for use (screws et al) and uncoupling for your return trip. I like DIY so this was not a problem. I brought it back with me, it fit into one of those extendable bags and was not too heavy. If you do not want one that requires a lot of coupling, you can try the dream on me karley bassinet. I think its just a snapping mechanism to set up and dismantle. its about $70 i think. ify4charm: |
Hello. All states accept a US consulate notarized form ds 3053 which is the form your spouse should fill for the application of your baby's us passport if s/he would not be present at that time. you can download the ds 3053 form online. make sure that you look at the top right hand corner to ensure that the form is not an expired version (the valid dates are written there). Your spouse would fill this form after your baby is born and should not sign it. s/he should take this form alongside his/her intl passport and a photocopy of the biodata page to either the us consulate in abuja or lagos and get it notarized. after which, s/he should send it via courier to you. letter of consent for applying for a Nigerian visa for your baby is just a simple letter written as a formal letter to the Nigerian consulate by your spouse consenting to the application for a 9ja visa by you to bring your baby home. this can be signed and a scanned copy sent to you. the 9ja visa agents usually send you a format when you contact them. P.S. Some states accept a ds 3053 notarized by a non-us consulate notary public. I do not know the states that do accept this. Some may have been mentioned if you go through the thread. However, the whole idea of a notarized document is to verify its authenticity and in my opinion, notarizing a document in advance of its intended date of use is a really grey area and this practice may very well be the reason why certain states stopped accepting other 9ja notary public verifications apart from the notary public at the us consulate. This is just my opinion and does not in any way reflect a general consensus on this matter. Ronnie1984: |
Hi Omodadi. I PM'ed you oh. ejoo check. e se gaan. Aunty Modath I just know say you must be OAU-ite! the way you dey articulate like no man's business. Carry go! |
hey hun. Someone recently asked me if anyone is claiming taxes for my LO and explained the whole process to me. Basically they claim that the dependent child lives/lived with them and the Govt gives tax refunds for the upkeep of each dependant. They even give tax refunds for things like tithe. It is pretty simple for me. If my LO did not/is not living with you and you were/are not paying for the upkeep of my LO then why should you explore a loop in the system to collect tax refunds for that child? So, I decided to chat with my neighbour (nerf, the one you know...name starts with S) who recently had a baby and returned from the states. She told me that her uncle had been filing and collecting tax refunds for dependants in their family for a long time and then last year, he came to Nigeria after filing and while he was in her house, his wife called and notified him that the IRS was in their house as they had "caught him in the act" he had to buy a one way ticket that day and got a lawyer and eventually was able to pay a huge fine and get no jail time, however he is listed as a tax offender on his record. The United States is a huge country. The IRS cannot cross-check all applications for tax refunds, however they randomnly pick out a select few every year as "quality control" and last year, his was picked. Case of every day for the thief, one day for the owner. Is it Illegal for a person to claim taxes for a child s/he did not care for? YES Do people (Americans, Nigerians, Other nationalities) do it/ YES Do they get away with it? YES, most times Should they do it? NO favoredgal: |
You should stick with the Express Entry Programme (EEP) and apply under the FSW category. If you would be unable to score up to 450 points based on your CRS score then you would want to apply for a provincial nomination under any of the PNPs (provincial nominee programmes) which would give you an added 600 points to boost your CRS score. Since you have a masters degree and you are younger, i would suggest that you should be the PA (principal applicant). Your masters degree will be evaluated by WES as equivalent to your husband's MBBS. With your age at 35, and with 3 yrs or more work experience and maximum IELTS scores from both you and your hubby in addition to the 10 points his ECA can give you, you would be able to score a maximum of 454 on the crs. However, this is dependent on you "ace-ing" your IELTS and ensuring your ECAs are completed and you get an ITA (invitation to apply) before you turn 36. may sound like a long shot but its totally worth the try. What NOC does your job description fall under? ZannyShasha:I don't quite understand your question about the most successful route for medical personnel....health care workers get into the pool just like everyone else does. only difference is the ECA organisation. Doctors' credentials are evaluated by the Medical Council of Canada, pharmacists' credentials by the pharmacy examining board for Canada. and the timeline for obtaining an ECA from the MCC can stretch as long as 6months. The EEP favours 30yrs or younger because higher points are obtained for younger ages. However, this does not mean that applicants >30yrs cannot score high on the CRS. ZannyShasha: |
Thanks. 5 months time line....not so bad. ![]() How long were you in the pool for before you received an ITA? How come your PCC got outdated? I thought only PCCs from countries where you currently reside could get outdated after 6 months.. #21questions lol! Congrats once again AlphaNumero: |
Happy mothers' day to all lovely NL moms and moms to be. God bless you. Onlineise Thank God for your successful POE. Neks31 Congrats oh! tbash16 Congratulations! I agree with the comment above. Since you delivered during "call" hours, usually your obgyn may not be present at that time but the obgyn on call from their team would attend to you and liaise with your primary doc. Some doctors choose to show up for their patients even during call hours, this is a courtesy and not a requirement and is the general system of medical practise and call duty hours all over the world. If not, a doc would always be at the hospital and never have time off seeing as s/he may have several patients all going into labour at 2am on a particular night. I used Dr M/Del Sol for my first baby and went into labour at midnight. The nurses and the doctor on call co-ordinated my care with Dr M via phone until dawn when he came in. He had a surgery scheduled for that morning and another doc on his team was on standby and eventually took my delivery later that morning. That being said, Dr F should have informed you of how the system works at his end ahead of time to avoid any misconception. I hope you had a doctor handle your labour/delivery? Thank God you are well and kisses to your LO. P.S. No vex for my long post oh. |
