wisdom can never be a bad thing. It con never be a black eye for anyone and God will never hold it against anyone that he was wise. Cleverness on the other hand, like war prowess, depends on whose side you're on
Christianity Etc › Re: Sentences For Life by vescucci(m): 10:16pm On Aug 28, 2010
1. Mind blowing
2. Matters to whom?
3. Whoever tries?
4. Duh?
5. What does this even mean?
6. Do as I say not as I do
7. Oh, look, it rhymes. Maybe the smart ones will live forever.
Christianity Etc › Re: Pastor In Private Jet. Life Is Beautiful! by vescucci(m): 10:09pm On Aug 28, 2010
Make una leave the pastors make them flex abeg. Their 'flock' are worse cuz they think they buy their way into heaven. I wouldn't put it past an armed robber to pay tithes from his loot and maybe give offerings when business is particularly good. Most churches are legal scams like the lotto
Christianity Etc › Re: Why The Christian God Is Impossible by vescucci(m): 10:02pm On Aug 28, 2010
@Phillip. Lol. I'm even less eager to argue provided there was something to argue about. As for my statements. They do not contradict for two reasons.

First, I may humble enough to admit that believing in God (which I do) makes no sense and this is assuming I agree that belief in God makes me a religionist which I don't.

Second, the very nature of the word belief connotes a position informed on very little evidence for it or sometimes, even evidence to the contrary. If it made sense to believe in God, we'd go around saying we KNOW God exists and not use the apologetic word, BELIEVE.

@Pastor. The stuff Huxley posted cannot truly be disproven. Anyone that attempts to will only employ endless histrionics and frankly B.S. I may only speak about the list by adding to the list. Some of the arguments are flawed and are based on wrong assumptions but they aren't many.

Sigh. You'll do what you'll do, regardless what anyone tells you to. So do what you'll do already.
TV/Movies › Re: Hollywood directors: Rate or hate? What's your Take? by vescucci(op): 9:31pm On Aug 28, 2010
Matt Dillon and all his sleazy roles. I've never seen him play an out-and-out bad or good guy. It does sound like a whack film, this Takers, but if you're comparing it to Obsessed, then it will be truly awful. BTW, Elba is far from a good actor. Just ok enough not to notice. He's eye candy for women though. Something about him makes them go all American Pieish.
Christianity Etc › Re: Why The Christian God Is Impossible by vescucci(m): 8:57pm On Aug 28, 2010
Does it? Does it really? My belief is that EVERYBODY is within the bounderies of pure undiluted atheism and absolute faith. No one is an absolute believer or disbeliever in God. We are just on varying depths of the rabbit hole. Thanks for not telling me I'll burn in hell for eternity though
Christianity Etc › Re: Why The Christian God Is Impossible by vescucci(m): 6:26pm On Aug 28, 2010
Atheists make more sense than any religionist can ever dream to. The guy doesn't believe in God and some of you are quoting him scripture. Rich. It would have amused me if it didn't reek of knee jerk syndromes.

I believe in God. But I think I have a right to ask the questions asked in that article. About 70percent of them are sensible and I've wondered about myself. God will not strike you dead for openly admitting that He befuddles you. Once you think it, you might as well say it.

Trouble is atheists are beginning to get more preachy and whiny. They put more effort into atheism than the sun into shining. A true honest to God atheist wouldn't care what believers believe in. Applying some of the articles logic, a true atheist almost doesn't exist.

Can't you people do anything without me ni? Hiss. I vote Fantastic Mr. Fox for review. I don't see a percentage, JK.
Christianity Etc › Re: Ok. Deep Sight, Am Listening You. Tell Me About Holy Spirit. by vescucci(m): 11:33pm On Aug 26, 2010
Lol. One would think himself safe with a disposition such as yours but I find people like you (and I) absolutely unwary to the insidious fact that not many people are the same. Many people pathologically think they have immunity from this simple rule. I don't know what I'm compensating for with my patience with people. Always trying to right things. Futile. What am I even talking about?

You'll have to forgive me, Nuke. It'll be some days more before I emerge from this hole that's getting cozy in spite of itself.
Christianity Etc › Re: Have U Forgiven Anybody Today? by vescucci(m): 7:26pm On Aug 26, 2010
Forgiveness comes naturally. That means no one and nothing can make you forgive someone who you haven't forgiven. You may only refuse to retaliate. I forgive people all the time. Some people deserve my forgiveness, some don't. Some people forgive me when I do wrong and some do not. Things remain the same in this universe.

Lol. You, I and about 7billion of us are on this rock together. I'm sadly cursed to feel distress when good relationships go south (especially mine, naturally) especially when it's not even formed yet. I've learnt more in the last half dozen months about human relations than in all my previous two dozen years.

I'm holed up somewhere. Thanks for asking, Nuke.

I'll probably not be seeing Salt anytime soon. Except it flies and hits on the head.

I'll be seeing plenty other movies. So wrap this Salt thingie up and let's be done already. I'll review Salt when the time comes

If you say 'thanks for your comments' one more time, I'm going to slit your throat.

The best advice on writing I've ever got, even though I don't heed it one bit, is keep writing. Write all the time, even if it is jargon.
Literature › Re: A Mean Consensus - A Short Short Story by vescucci(m): 7:55pm On Aug 24, 2010
Oh, I'm sorry. I thought the story was a bit of a something more. It suddenly becomes richer as is. I like as you leave some empty spaces for the readers imagination to fill in. A good writer lets the reader's mind work. I thought it vague earlier cuz I thought you'd continue writing like this. Since that's not the case, it's still vague but comes together to good effect with the last paragraph. There was a place I think you meant tempo instead of temple and another you meant 'I'm' instead of 'am'. Nice short short story.

Literature › Re: A Mean Consensus - A Short Short Story by vescucci(m): 4:13pm On Aug 24, 2010
Intriguing and opposite of prosaic. Quite vague (I like vague very much but it is not a popular trait with writers) but this is way too short to really critique. I don't even know what genre it's supposed to be. More please?

Christianity Etc › Re: Solution To Homosexual Has Now Been Discovered! by vescucci(m): 2:07am On Aug 23, 2010
Exactly. As you got QUALIFIED as a manager by going to school and having good work ethics, a pastor should know his religion, have great leadership qualities (apart from collecting tax) and have exemplary morals. Example is Muslim leaders. God doesn't chose them or they don't claim so. They become leaders by virtue of their knowledge. Roman catholics have similar hierarchy and I daresay it's more effective than MOG hullabaloos.

Nice posts, Prince Emeka. I like that you've come to YOUR own conclusions and try to understand things YOURSELF. Your reasoning to me is sound. I'd like you to meet one Enigma. If I know my Nuke, it won't be long before he goes weary and lunge for your offer of agreeing to disagree. Enigma has most zest if you will. I'll enjoy you both express your views and counter views. How to get hold of Enigma?

P.S. I might be asking you questions soon, your excellency, Prince Emeka.

I'm supremely skeptical about miracles, deliverances and all things that seem like them. In any case, all I'm saying is that if you need something, anything, ask God. Pastors ought to be people managers and theologians and examples and absolutely not God's representatives on earth.

@Ogoamaka, Nuclearboy labelled you something not long ago. I thought he was harsh. Apparently he made the statement not solely cuz of the one post you made. He probably knows what you're about. I agree with him is all I'm saying.

Christianity Etc › Re: Solution To Homosexual Has Now Been Discovered! by vescucci(m): 3:26pm On Aug 22, 2010
Why can't people get it that God doesn't do things through people. I'm no Christian but real Christians shouldn't need anyone to channel God's 'healing power' to them. Which kind epidemic be this pastor thing sef?

TV/Movies › Re: The Movie Club by vescucci(m): 10:20am On Aug 22, 2010
Ah. If Salt is anything remotely as good as The Long Kiss Goodnight then it's gotta be awesome. Ooh I remember that film. Sorta like The Bourne trilogy. Meanwhile, JeSoul, go and kneel down in that corner, close your eyes and raise your hands up for all those intriguing spoilers.

Er, a word for the Salt detractors, most action movies have poor plots. It comes with the territory. If Salt has a passable story like I think it does, that's a bonus even. Movies with good plots are called thrillers.
TV/Movies › Re: The Movie Club by vescucci(m): 10:45pm On Aug 21, 2010
I've not seen Salt but I'm sure it's better than DOA. Some parts of Elecktra are good. Some parts are terrible. Never heard of Ultraviolet. This Salt really splits opinion. I'd better check it out and make some people happy and some unhappy. Hope the unhappy ones won't lynch me. It'll be the scorn of women versus the animality of men.

I wish I didn't agree with you completely. Luckily I rarely come here to teach anything. He whose aim is to teach will likely end up with a coronary. Even when I explain stuff according to my understanding, it's with a secret wish to have my views changed. There's nothing refreshing like disillusionment. To sum it up, the greatest asset one can have here is an open mind.
