Literature › Re: Which Books/Novels Are You Currently Reading? by vescucci(m): 11:38pm On Aug 05, 2010
Uh, Tatase, I don't mean to sound like a chauvinistic sumbitch but do you read any male authors?

Not to take anything away from female authors but they averagely have their heads in the clouds o. Have you read any of Iris Johanssen's books? She used to write romance before she became a beautiful suspense writer. I read one of Feehan's books but I forget the title. Mind Games I think. I remember the character. Argh, I'm more concerned about what a character actually does than all his internal torments jare. Perhaps I read her worst book. Patricia Cornwell is another female writer I like very much. Tami Hoag's supposed most popular book was trying too hard to be dark and all the Cajun spoken was a turn off for me. Everybody loves J. K. Rowlings. But the number one for me is Faye Kellerman. That's as far as women writers go for me.

If I've managed to sound like a chauvinistic pig, well, blast. Viva la femme! grin

Uh, what 2 you know whats? Only iice is not permitted to ask. . . .

Christianity Etc › Re: Ok. Deep Sight, Am Listening You. Tell Me About Holy Spirit. by vescucci(m): 11:44am On Aug 05, 2010
Na wetin Toba do you na?

I am not what you'll call an authority on the holy spirit but I do have an opinion. I'll attempt to answer your question with your template.

1. As it has already been defined, I agree with its being called God's force in action or something. I don't agree with most of the Christian colouration though. For one thing, it makes it seem it was dormant prior to Jesus' arrival. I also don't think it is a single entity with intelligence. I certainly don't think it ought to be worshiped or is part of any Godhead and the rest. I don't think it possesses people and make them convulse and speak in tongues for example.

2. I don't think it requires proof since God's existence presupposes it. If you don't believe in God, then you'd need proof and no one can really prove that God exists

3. Modus operandi. I've never had an intimate encounter with God so I don't know. But I won't be quick to constrict it to any particular form of operation.

4. Ah. Me ke? God is taking His time with me o. People say I'm stubborn and I should accept some things first before He shows up. A leap of faith they call it. I'll put my cheekiness in check here

5. Lol. I don't think God has gender na and certainly not His force. As I said, it is not intelligent in my opinion and is intrinsic to God so it ought to be without beginning like God.

6. Life span ke? It can't have a life span except you think God could have one.

7. Man, you crack me up. Do you suppose God has religious affiliations? The holy spirit, as it is, is a Christian construct. Muslims believe what Christians refer to Angel Gabriel. I'm sure other religions have a term for it.

Those are my seven cents. Hope they're of any use to you. Don't worry. I'm as confused about things as you are.

A perfect marriage? What's that?

imhotep:
Food for thought ===>

We are never (really) in love with anyone,

We are only in love with our prejudiced and hopeful idea of that person,

And we fall out of love
when that IDEA CHANGES . . .
This is soo true. I agree 110% and I wish I didn't

I didn't really like it though I admit it's cuz I saw the recent version first and I wasn't ecstatic about it mainly cuz of Wahlberg who can rarely carry a main role. Even Bonham or Heston couldn't save the films from my disapproval. Somehow highly intelligent crouching and terribly acrobatic apes give me the willies

I don't think the stories are true. Maybe a few left but I trust my naija peeps. The wishful thinkers who shelled out money to watch it at all won't give up now, not ten minutes into the thing
