alutacontinua: Pls, guys, i want to apply for a visit visa to the UK. My question is that how much is the minimum amount that should be in my sponsor's (father) bank account statement. Also, do i need to attach a bank statement of my own. I'm a foreign student. Would that increase my chances?

diegonpaloma: @Hummmmmmm,now you making more sense to me ooo...as at 2004 i was deceptive in my application
again i have just gone down the memory lane to remeber that the passport am holding right now besides the swap in name as a diffrent date of birth ex:05/may/1973(as at former passport)and 05/may/1982 on the new passport..with this one dat ave just discovered again am really lost at what position to stand on either to stick and say the truth and inform them that i had once applied before or basicly claim am applyin for the first time and then change informations that i will be submitting now completly,Bro i still await what u think i should stick to...
if it will become wahala with my other visas mayb make i comot uk for my travel spots ooo
There is nothing that would spare you from receiving a ban if you applied for a UK visa with all these deceitful discrepancies, and not just the UK ban, your other visas would be cancelled on the ground of identification data inconsistencies, your travel future would be doomed as you could receive multiple bans from many countries
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by Vicjustice: 4:51pm On Nov 07, 2012
diegonpaloma: Man,thanks for the reply i really do appreciate even thou i did not intentionally swap my middle name to my first name it was an error at the immigration while picking up a new passport then year 2006 after i lost the former passport every other information is the same except the swap name..nevertheless i will stick with your advice to say the truth about my former application as at 2004,thou i currently ave a great travel history over the years been to over 10 countries since then till now...i really do appreciate your reply, but hope after comming out clean about my 2004 application they will not pounder over why my middle name is changed to my first name? as it was not an intentional thing o,thou the 3 names are the same just that middle name is now first name and first name to middle name surname remains the same
You said you are coming out clean after your 2004 application, does this mean that you used deception in the past?
If so, i'm afraid your recent travel history might not enhance your application and influence the decision of the Visa Officer: there is even a possibility that the UK embassy would contact the embassies that had issued you their visas to inform them of the record that they have against you; and that could result in the cancellation of your other visas.

Note: I'm making judgement based on the limited information that you gave, so, it might not really be the case.
Also, i'm aware of the fact that the banning system came into effect in 2007, but be aware that those who committed deceitful, fraudulent or misleading acts are still given the ban when they apply again.

diegonpaloma: House..i once applied for a 6month visa in the year 2004 thereabout and was denied a visa, now i intend applying for a 6month visa this year 2012 with the same name, same date of birth and a diffrent passport and a diffrent passport number plus now a switch of my middle name to last name...i wana kno if telling the embassy that i had never applied for a british visa will not detected since there was no finger print then
Is there any reason for wanting to hide your previous application?
Swapping your surname and middle name is not enough to conceal your person, with other matching data like your date of birth, mother's name & date of birth, father's name & date of birth, mother's & father's place of birth, mother's family name etc, There is a high chance that you will be found out and given a 10 years ban

Very good call, but:
1) It takes one person to start a conversation, so, if no other person talks about Makurdi, there is nothing wrong if you started it
2) You could have written it in English
3) Your post suggests that Makurdi is an ideal place for sex tourists and that Makurdi ladies are cheap sex workers
4) You are doing damages to the "Half Heaven Hotels" by making the impression that it is a brothel for commercial sex: No decent man would want to lodged in a hotel that you advertised in such horrible contexts.
5) You wrote as if every Nairaland user is a man; you left the women out

Finally, is it correct that "out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks"? cheesy wink

I nid answers plzzzzz
In the west, you need to be in an employment for at least one year before you'd be fully covered by the protection policy: this entitles you to be fully protected by labour law and it immunes you against redundancy except on the ground of gross misconduct. So, in the eyes of a western visa officer, your 5 months employment would mean that you are a probational worker who could be fired at any time.
Besides, you have not earned enough paid holiday credit for which you deserve to travel abroad: it is calculated that every 6 months that you work with your company, you earn a 2 weeks paid holiday period.
And finally, you need to be able to sponsor yourself, and the N500K that you claim to have in your account is way too insufficient.

emmy384: Good morning Justwice, I got your email address on nairaland forum. I've applied for a family visitor visa last month oct 18 but as we speak I haven't heard from them.

My elder broda nd is wife sent me invitation to uk, both of them are british citizen. They sent A copy of their passport, tenancy agreement, council tax utilities bill etc.
Am a student and also working part time. The document I gave the UKAC re admission letter, letter from my HOD, letter appointment, student ID ,work ID and payment slip , A letter from my dad stating he is sponsoring my trip wit his personal bank statement and fixed deposit . I receive my salary by hand so I don't have any saving on my account.

What is my chance of getting the visa
Thanks
Would telling you your chance make any difference to the already-made application?

do i need a birth certificate for a family visit visa?

For tourist or visit visa, you are not required to provide your birth certificate, but if you are applying for a visa by influence of biological or family relationship, then you would need to provide your birth certificate

@Justwise.....Thanks for the other day.
@all.... kindly help me with an answer,
I submitted my application for tourist visit visa(last week Thursday) but the hotel reservation i made was cancelled that i used an invalid card. i used my friends master card info from GT Bank(ATM). Please what can i do? What are my chances? kindly help.
There is a chance that the Visa Officer will not find out especially if your other documentation packages are satisfying; the Visa Officer might not go to the length of communicating with the hotel, but if the visa is approved and you choose to travel to the UK, you might have a big problem at the port of entry because, there is a chance that the Immigration Officer would want to confirm your place of stay.
I recommend that you rebook the very hotel immediately since you might be unlucky (if the Visa Officer decides to contact the hotel): the Officer might then consider your hotel reservation as fraudulent and you might be extremely unlucky to be given a 10 years ban from the UK.
If however you feel concerned about this, then, it would be wise of you to contact the embassy to withdraw your application

Even if you do the affidavits or whatever action you take to sort it out, i recommend that you don't drop any of the names (to avoid discrepancies), there is nothing wrong in having multiple middle names; It is absolutely OK to bear four or more names ie:
Divake Cynthia Abosede Obasanjo

chaircover: I have a couple of questions for the pilots in the house. I hate flying so the more I know about how things work up there, should hopefully help kill this fear embarassed

If anyone has further questions feel free to ask too.

1.What causes turbulence and do some routes suffer more than others? It seems to me that the Abuja-London route suffers more turbulence than the London-Lagos route.

2.Do some airlines absorb the turbulence better? From my experience Virgin doesn’t seem to be as bumpy as ARIK and BA

3.Why do your ears pop on some flights and not on others?

4.Why does the plane dramatically slow down when the Wheels come out for landing

5.And why does it make such a loud thud/bang when the wheels come out. I thought it was to do with hydraulics so why is it so noisy?

6.What maintenance do the ground engineers do when the plane comes in and before take off again

7.How many trips does a plane make say for example London to Lagos before it is taken out of service?

8.What is the average pay for a pilot and crew?

9.Do pilots sleep when the plane is on autopilot? And do the number of pilots increase with the lenght of the flight so eg are there more pilots on the UK-Australia route than there would be on the london-lagos route?

10.Do mobile phones really affect electronics on the flight?

11.When the plane comes to land how do the back wheels drop down so gently without slamming into the runway considering the weight of the plane?

12.When a flight departs late, most times the pilots try and make up time. If the plane therefore can safely travel that fast, then why not just use that speed anyway and reduce the flight times of all flights?

13.Why do the crew insist on switching the cabin lights off when departing or landing at night/its dark?

14.Why are suitcases sometimes damp when they come out of the hold?

15.Is it me or does anyone else suddenly notice the increase in heat in the cabin during day flights over the desert?

16.I know that the engines “drive” the planes, but how does the plane go up in the air and not down at ground level like a car or boat will?

. . . . . . . And last of all why is airline food sooooooo crap? shocked

And before the smart alecs ask me to ask google. I have and not all the answers are there tongue grin
The questions are too numerous to answer, i could have given you some valid answeres, but the questions are too vast. Anyway, read some article on this link:

And to answer your question, your sponsor does not need to be physically present in the UK, but bear in mind that there are certain conditions that a sponsor must meet and not just anyone that is eligible to represent your sponsor.

I have only one question concerning uk general visitors sponsor. My sponsor wishes to foot all my expenses my six months stay in UK,note that he will not be travelling with me and he has never been to UK either.I am going to UK with an aim of joining the army. Now my question is, is it acceptable that my sponsor remains behind(not in UK)

Kindly advse
You're going to the UK to join its Army, is that not supposed to be a big time job?
If it is a job, will you not be entitled to salary (or benefits)?
And if YES, then, why do you need a sponsor (if you are not going for studies but for work)?
There are things that i don't seem to understand here

I believe I was given visa cos I was working with multi-national organisation that has name but now am working for a limited company with no big name. What are my chances. Thanks.
You were not given the visa because you were "working with multi-national organisation" but rather because you met the requirements.
Now, it doesn't matter whether your current company is less renown than the previous: if your new company is registered and your paperworks are up to date and ultimately your job is secured (to satisfy the visa officer that you have something to return to Nigeria for), i see nothing hindering you this time: except perhaps you are new and still under probation at your work place in this case, you may be refused if your employment is not secured and guaranteed

Divake: Goodmorning peeps,
I applied for UK visa in year 2007 but was refused on the following grounds that;
I have not proven to have a close ties in Nigeria as a student cos my letter from my school did not stipulate my entry and graduation date. Also that they are aware of the inconsistencies in Nigeria University system such as numerous strike actions hence they are not not convinced I would return back to Nigeria.
Secondly, that I provided a sponsorship bank statement with insufficient fund of €119 which is not enough to cover my flight and accomodation.
One thing I disagree with in this claim is the statement balance which is actually €1119 conversion.
I did not appeal cos I decided to just complete my education.
Presently im through with school but my results are not out yet, I have a professional certificate as a chartered accountant, I'm presently working fulltime and I earn N130k monthly, I also work partime for a network marketing company and earn extra income from there. I have inflow into my account in this last week that my is from my contributory savings with a group of friends and it dosent have supporting doc cos its not official.
Lastly, my birth cert carries a different middlename from all my docs. Please advise as I want to apply for visa to spend my xmas in UK
The reasons that you were refused the visa is explained in this link:
https://www.nairaland.com/967110/main-reasons-many-refused-visas.
As for your birth certificate, you might not need to include the document depending on the category of visa that you're applying for, but however, it is wise to get that sorted before it gets you into trouble: actually, it would help if you give detail explanation of the names discrepancy
