TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by Vicjustice:
olu16: Ok thanks you think I shouldn't be worried? Or should I write a letter or send in additional documents like my brothers passport. I'm really scared my mum told me to check d form severally, but I didn't. Wouldn't they think we lied or think d stamp is forged?
If the stamp is forged, then, it is logical that the information that you entered in the application form will match the information on the stamp, Visa Officer knows this.
It is not a mandatory requirement to give dates of travel history. They can't refuse you the visa based on this error, infact, it is insignificant since they can see that the passport isn't tampered with: they would correct that themselves. Worry not

olu16: Hello all justwise vicjustice pls help dis really urgent. I submitted an application yesterday for myself and my sister, she's 17 uk family visit renewal. I was goinng through d form today onl for me to realise that I made a mistake on d form where they ask previous travel histpry. I wrote december 25th 2010- december 15th 2011 instead of january 15th 2011. The stamp on her passport I noticed wasn't very clear though january 2011 showed just d date didn't show. I put in a photocopy of my brothers stamped pages because they traveled together, (the last time she traveled, they put it on her visa that she was only allowed to travel with my brother or my grandma but my grandma didn't travel with them) I don't know how I made that silly mistake. My parents are going to finish me if they find out. Pls what can I do? Write a letter to d embassy or go there with my brothers passoprt, is there a way they can check on their system when she really returned, because the date on her passport and the form are contradicting. I really hope they have the date on their immigration system. Pls help me guys
It is not a mandatory requirement to give dates of travel history.
Yes, it is a mistake, but yet, it can be cross-examined and be understood and definitely not enough reason to refuse the visa.

stinicks10: hello justwise, I recently applied for a 6months uk tourist visa and was denied, reason being that i did not give enough detail about what I will be doing during the 2 weeks I wanted to spend in the uk(reason for travel was summer vacation). and also the credits and balances on my account statement does not commensurate with my monthly income of 400k per month.
I am self employed, into equipment leasing(mack trucks) and haulage. I sent in the following documents.
1. My company documents including Certificate of incorporation, and tax clearance for 2012
2. Age declaration ( am 27yrs)
3. Board letter from my company, signed by a director listed in the company docs
4. fully paid hotel reservation for the two weeks I intended to stay coming up to £1340
5. my personal savings acct statement with bal 1.7m naira( not lump sum payment )
6. my company acct statement which am sole signatory( although I did not state this) with balance 2m naira also not lump sum payments
The jobs I do I receive mostly cash and cheque payments.
I want to know if I still have a chance if I apply again, or perhaps I could reduce my monthly income to somtin like 250k permonth, besides I dont understand how to give more details about what I will be doing during the two weeks period I wish to stay.
Finally I will like to know if this denial will affect my chances of getting a schengen visa, perhaps I can go to france for the holiday. if this UK people wont give me visa.
thanks
Are you serious now?
Just last week, you made this very post (addressing it to Vicjustice) and it was treated by all, now, you posted it again addressing it to Justwise.

lafad11: @ Vicjustice, thanks for always been there for us. Pls how do i go about a review of an application, where do i submit it. Can u pls put me through on how to write it and steps to take etc. Thanks
It would have been beneficial to you if you gave details about the visa sought and the reason(s) for refusal so that you may get appropriate advise on the right actions, you wouldn't want to waste your time on something that may never be, would you?
Anyway, if you decide to request for review, then, you may equip yourself with the information on this link:
http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/visas-immigration/general-info/administrative-review/
You might need to download the review form, and the form should have all the necessary fields for your convenience.
And if you are writing a letter to this effect, ensure it carries every information that you provided in the failed application, and also, the reference number: The letter must be dated and signed.

aytevans: Well, it depends on how established the business is.

@ VICJUSTICS..
How do I prove my business establishment to them? quit confusing me brother, it is not common for someone here to student Transportation design major in Automobile there. I though of writing a CV or cover letter explaining my current activities in my business and skill about my proposed course.
1. I do buy and sell cars but dont really have a garage yet, using a mechanic park
2. I have knowledge in auto mechanic repair
3. I did my trade test in electrical electronic
4. Good use of graphic packages in which I am proposing to publish a website that contains all model of cars I drew in past and current.
5. I also use my business for computer training, resource center.
Will these qualify me as a business owner to apply for the visa?
If your business is established, you wouldn't have any problem proving so, but for the fact that you asked how to prove it, it means your business is neither registered nor established, and as such, you can't use the business: and besides, you don't even have an OWN BUSINESS ADDRESS.

santa101: hi all.....i am re-applying in some days time...i have all neccesary docs including my six months salary deposits reflecting in my personal account...the issue now is that since we have landed properties all over, and we get paid yearly,my dad made a deposit of my share in my account just on monday(340k)...is this an issue or rather stilll....do i explain where the huge amount came from.....urgent response needed..thanks
Do you have any documentary evidence to support your claim on the 340k lodgement?
TravelRe: Main Reasons Many Are Refused Visas by Vicjustice(op):
aytevans: Hi nairalanders, please I need an explanation concerning my case urgently.
I applied for Transportation Design in Italy and I was given admission for a year course which I am about making some payments, the tuition fee for a year is 6850euro. Now the questions are:

I will be applying for study visa next month, can I use my current account statement which i am currently doing transactions on it almost everyday and am planning of keeping 1.2m balance for my financing?
Personal Current Account is the best suitable for visa application.
If the account meets the requirement as explained in the original post, then you can use it

aytevans: ?
I want to also use my DORM ACCT which i have been using for few transactions but planning of having 3,000USD as balance.
If you can satisfy the visa officer that the fund in the Dorm Account is available for your use, then you can use it.

aytevans: .I operate a registered company which includes automobile services such as sales and repair and I represent the owner and manager. Can I use the C.A.C as backup or supporting docs and prove that i will be coming back?
Well, it depends on how established the business is.

aytevans: I am 26yrs of age, i hope that wont be a negative impact?
Where is it written that you need to be 90 years old before you can apply for a visa?

aytevans: Can I used a backup letter from my father who is working at Education HQ. Abuja but wont be using his Bank statement.
How would a 26 years old MAN need a letter from his dad before he can apply for a Visa that pertains to his own business
Adding such "back-up" letter from your dad may make you appear juvenile rather than a self employed businessman

Vergil: Hmm...are you sure mate?
Since the ban is kinda a law. And if it wasn't passed or put into effect in 2007. Don't think they'd issue it to him layer on. Since his application and the result would have been subjected to the laws Of that year, and not the next.

Is this stated anywhere, if I may ask?

(pardon my grammar. Not thinking straight today)
Negative, that is not how it works:
Let me explain it to you: Now, those who committed fraud offences before finger-print era are free from the ban, but if you committed any fraud offence with your finger-print, though the ban was not in effect, yet you will get the ban in your next visa application, or the moment you come to the attention of the UK authority.
This means, you are allowed to apply again, and only on your next application will your ban start to count.

opsy4real1: Thanks Vicjustice , I was refused in 2008 during when the BHC had not introduced the 10year ban on doubtful documents. The ban came into effect in 2009 while I was refused in 2008. Does that mean that I have been affected despite that I was refused before the introduction of the ban? Please let me learn. Thx

Thanks Vicjustice , I was refused in 2008 during when the BHC had not introduced the 10year ban on doubtful documents. The ban came into effect in 2009 while I was refused in 2008. If my memory serves me right, i think the 10 years ban system has been in effect since 2007.
And by the way, if you committed the fraudulent offence before the ban came into effect, you will still get the ban the moment you re-apply for a visa.

I am contemplating flying Air Rwanda next month on a trip to Nigeria and it seem to be very cheap compared to other Airlines. Please share your experience with me if you have flown on it before and how was the stop over in Kigali.
I never would consider flying with an airliner that is operated by a country like Rwanda.
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by Vicjustice:
ayobj: See the question the applicant is now asking?
It is this mindset that leads to the so called"building of accounts" and cash lodgements.
By the way, what do you do for a living and how is the salary paid monthly?
If there are pay slips with tax clearance and you have a good job and educational background, you don't need more than the 700K.
You are good to go.
When I got my first 6 months UK visa,I had 300k balance and it was below my monthly salary.it was granted.
It showed no evidence of savings.
I had letters of appointment, confirmation and payslips.
Also marraige and other ties were there.
But financially I had 300k balance.Had been denied 3 years previously for lack of funds!!!!!!!!!
So if you satisfy the other criteria and you have the documents and you have already done hotel booking, you are good to go.
A friend told me all her visas to the UK from europe were with account less or equal to 1000 Euro.
Much less than 250K.Now she wants to renew in nigeria with same details.
ayobj: I beg to disagree.
700k for a someone earning 210k is not too little or too much by any standard.she may have saved this over a period of time.she can spend 500k on the trip and have a great time for like 7 to 10 days.
Its sure a lot of money and she may not be broke at the end of the day.
I submitted here that I applied for a visa for me and my wife with 590k balance and it was given.
The ECO should look at the clearer picture and not the fact that 700k cannot be enough for a holiday.
Wetin she wan go buy for UK.
I just returned from a trip which I spent extravagantly,I still did not spend above 500K.
The granting of entry visas have principles but they are not add and fast!
Man, these reports or analysis or whatever are exaggerated and are directly deceptive: you are encouraging people to loose their money on visa application even though they don't have satisfying financial stance.
Which visa officer would issue a Tourist Visa to a Person having a bank statement with N300k balance, or which embassy will approve a Tourist visas to a Husband and Wife if all they have in their bank account is N590.000?
HA, PLEASE!

No, it is not necessary to include your wife's account if you are applying with your statement of account, but it is up to you if you think the money in her account will be of advantage to your application, but you are not required to include it. The same goes if she is the one presenting her bank statement, you will not be required to show yours too

First, how old are you?
Well, i'm not very sure of how it is done in the UK, but in Ireland, if a parent is applying for child reunion, the child must not be older than 16. But in your case (applying to be a dependant), you must not be older than 22 and you must be an orphan; but if both or one of your parents are/is alive, then they must both be disabled or the surviving one is disabled in order for you to be eligible to legally depend on your sister, and she can officially be your guardian.

The balance on my company acct was 2m and my savins 1.7m, so I want to know if its wise to reapply and include a document from d bank stating am d sole signatory
Yes, it would be wise to make the visa officer understand your position in the company, and that will explain your financial circumstance in clearer picture: so, it won't be a bad idea if you take that measure.
As for the other reason, I recommend that you use google to learn more about the place you'd be visiting and know what happens in where

But, was it the lack of document from the bank indicating that you are the sole signatory of the company's account the reason that you were previously refused?

It is supposed to be very easy for anyone who receives your kind of salary to get a visa to any country in the world as long as s/he doesn't have any criminal or terrorism records, and s/he has genuine documentations: and ultimately knows what to say on interview.
And though your job can represent an obligation or home tie, but like I explained before, the N700k in your account is questionable and can really cost you your chance.
TravelRe: FG Protests To Canadian Embassy On Poor Treatment Of Nigerians by Vicjustice: 9:59am On Sep 02, 2012
OAM4J: FG protests poor treatment of Nigerians at Canadian Embassy

The Federal Government yesterday protested alleged poor treatment of Nigerians applying for visa at Canada’s High Commission in Nigeria.

Foreign Affairs Minister, Ambassador Olugbenga Ashiru, summoned the Canadian High Commissioner, Chris Cooter, to express displeasure at the treatment.

Ashiru noted that the visa applications processing at the High Commission is now characterised by excessive delays.

He declared that the waiting period of a minimum of 45 working days for Nigerian visa applicants to receive response from the Canadian authorities was unacceptable.

A statement issued by the ministry on the matter reads: “The Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Olugbenga Ashiru, OFR, yesterday, Thursday August 30th 2012, summoned the Canadian High Commissioner to Nigeria, H.E. Chris Cooter, to his office to register the Federal Government’s protest on how Nigerian visa applicants are being treated at the Canadian High Commission.

“He recalled the very warm relations between the two countries, citing the example of the presence of a major Canadian company, Manitoba Hydro in Nigeria’s power sector. He further recalled that the Bi-National Commission between the two countries has been inked, paving the way for the deepening of our relations, especially in the economic sector.”

“It is against this background that the Honourable Minister expressed to the Canadian High Commissioner his disappointment at the manner the Canadian Mission in Nigeria was maltreating Nigerian visa applicants, characterised by excessive delays in processing visa applications.

“The Honourable Minister declared as unacceptable the waiting period of a minimum of 45 working days for Nigerian visa applicants to receive a response from the Canadian authorities.

“The Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs concluded by suggesting to Ambassador Chris Cooter that rather than his Mission holding on to Nigeria visa applicant’s passports, the Mission should make do with photocopies of the data pages and to sight the passports. Thereafter, the passports can be surrendered to the Mission only at the point of issuance of visas. This will allow passport holders the opportunity to use their passports for other travels, pending the approval of their visa Applications by the Canadian Mission.”

Mr. Cooter reportedly pledged to report the concerns expressed by the Minister to the appropriate authorities in Ottawa, Canada.

The Minister at the meeting commended the decision by the US to give Nigeria top priority status in its visa processing administration.

http://www.thenationonlineng.net/2011/news/59863-fg-protests-poor-treatment-of-nigerians-at-canadian-embassy.html
Nonsense, let the Federal Government first "protest" the ill treatments of Nigerians by its own authorities, also, let them "protest" the abuse of citizens by systematically denying them social welfare and cares.
And also, let them "protest" against Police and Soldiers brutality: some time ago, I saw soldiers severely beating up petty traders. Shame.

You are entitled to your opinion, but that doesn't make it accurate.
Don't only take an isolated case as example, but look at the general occurrences: even people with over a million Naira are being refused because, the Visa Officers are concerned that their trips will badly affect their finance.
What I would have expected you to base your argument on is the salary that he receives (which in fact is impressive) and his job (which is his tie to Nigeria), not the N700K which is not encouraging.

stinicks10: thanks for your reply vicjustice, are you sayin there is no point puttin in another application?
will this denial affect my chance of obtainin a schengen visa?
I didn't say anything to suggest that "there is no point putting in another alplication", I only thought I should warn you of the danger involved in giving misinformation or conflicting declaration: it could earn you the dreaded 10 years ban if the visa officer judges that you are deceptive.
You may apply again any time you wish, but be careful in your manipulating attempts.
And to answer your other question, the Schengen visa application is independent of the UK visa application, but however, your UK visa refusal may negatively affect your chance because, the effect of the UK refusal now makes it very easy to refuse you and very hard to approve your application: but that doesn't mean that you will be refused as well by a Schengen embassy

How can you now claim to be earning N250k if you stated in your failed application that you earned N400k? I mean, how can you now explain the discrepancy?
Well, considering the reason that your application was refused, i've always adviced Tourist Visa applicants to prepare themselves to be able to give satisfactory answer to the Visa Officers when asked what they intend to be doing in the UK, be reminded that visa officers love to ask these questions:
What is your purpose of travelling to the UK?
What do you propose to see in the UK?
What would you be doing in your spare time whilst in the UK?
You needed to have adequate knowledge of the places and things in the country that you intend to be a tourist: and the best way to achieve this is the use of www.google.com

If the Cameroonian Passport is genuine, then there would be no problem if you are now using a Nigerian Passport or both.
But if the Cameroonian Passport is fraudulent, there is no doubt that you are banned for 10 years.
Either way, if you apply for a visa with any passport bearing a different Date Of Birth or any other discrepancies, you will get the 10 years ban.
