BEEJAY452:Yes there are several. You can do a masters in Nursing that is open to international students. Check university of manitoba, uni of Alberta, uni of regina etc. So far, as long ad it isnt the Nurse practitioner option, you can get admitted. |

Amy360:Check what your CRS score is at the link below, the higher your score, the better your chances. You should aim to score 470s above and that is dependent on your age at this point. After 30yrs, you loose 5 points on each birthday and loose all points for age at 35. You can also check the Express entry thread on nairaland for more info. https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/crs-tool.asp 1 Like |

BlueBeard:1....I understand your clarification. 3... being a nurse is not necessarily an edge on EE. What matters is your CRS score. If you read business administration and hold an MBA at 28 or less than 30 with 3 years work experience, you stand a better chance than a BSN graduate who has 10years experience and is 35 years old (with both candidates getting 8777 in ielts LRSW).Check what your CRS score is to guide yourself on this. 4....its sad to see this recent development. I used IQAS and had a favourable report of 2 degrees in 2018. However, just a BSN assessed as 1 degree would not do much for your score on EE except you understand french and are young. Again, let the CRS tool guide you. https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/crs-tool.asp |

BlueBeard:Correcting some miscommunication 1.......Omni college is only to integrate you to the nursing environment in Canada. It is not the school where you fo the "bridging" program. The program offered by omni is NOT a substitute for the bridging the college of nursing may request for. However, the program at Omni may help prepare you for the assessment test and generally improve your chances because you would have started getting used to the basic gadgets. Note that people have completed their credential process without Omni, so it is not a part of the process. Also I know people who have completed Omni's program and are currently in the actual bridging programs for their licensure. 2......BScn graduates are not necessarily "good to go". You still have to do the OSCE and your performance at the OSCe is what determines how many courses would be required to bridge the educational gap. You only skip the OSCE assessment if your report from NNAS says "comparable to canadian education". I am yet to see a Nigerian graduate with such an assessment report from NNAS. 3.....For express entry, "the mind of them dey rush us" DOES NOT APPLY. express entry is not focused on you practicing as a nurse but it is STRICTLY AN IMMIGRATION PROCESS. Having a BSN as opposed to a Diploma is ENTIRELY IRRELEVANT to the process. A RN/RM Diploma holder may stand a better chance than a straight BScN. Except the BN holder can find a way to assess each component of their degrees separately (some people in the thread have been successful). 4........"remember Rn can't work as Rn there, u work as lpn there(until u upgrade yaa academics)" The above statement is NOT TRUE. Although Canada's RN are Bachelor degree holders, there have also been cases of diploma nurses who scaled through the RN licensure process. In conclusion, the Canadian licensure process is not a "one size fits all" kind of process. Until you start the process, you can not tell how long it would take you or whether or not your degree would scale through. It does help to have a BSN but having a BSN doesnt also mean that you would have it easy and fast. If you really want to practice in Canada, all you can do is to start the process and give your assessment OSCE your best shot (ie if NNAS gives you a report stating "noncomparable or somewhat comparable". Canadian licensure is in 2 steps. 1.....getting to canada as a landed immigrant (study or permanent resident) 2......the licensure process. Ensure you have a plan to be successful at both before you commit to it. Else just go to the States or uk or some other place. 4 Likes |

bbstarr:None! Brandon university requires a minimum of C5 in maths and english. Only exception they may consider is if the person has a post secondary degree. Then they would use the uni or college transcript as basis for the admission. |

Maccollins21:Whatever you do, DO NOT DENY YOUR PREVIOUS EDUCATION. It can come back to bite you in the bum. Example, they may or may not refuse this visa irrespective and you would have deprived yourself from qualifying for Express entry or other programs. 1 Like |

Prisca80:One last thing, it would be hard to proof relevance in Nigeria because the nigerian nursing system doesn't have practical nurses (LPN). So I wonder how you want to explain to the VO that you are going to spend millions studying a course without a job prospect in Nigeria. My advice is use an MSC in food science or something related to your previous education or work experience for the application. When you get to canada, you can then switch programs. |

SOLARPOWER1:True! Congrats on your ist class. For canada, it doesnt really matter if you had ist or 3rd class for the licensing. Truth is that there would still be gaps found in your education because of country of origin. If you love canada so much, your choices are to apply for a masters degree (maybe in public health) or you go through the Express entry system. On getting to Canada, the best route to licensing is to redo your Bachelor's degree. At least that way, you are sure of your graduation date. You can also attend an after degree nursing program usually 2year long and a compressed program. Best option from Nigeria is the UK route. Write your ielts and start up the process. You could work your way from the UK to Australia or canada at a later date when you are more financially buoyant. You may also choose to remain in the uk and get your permanent stay after 5yrs. 1 Like |

ignis:Because later he can pass ielts and be eligible for Express entry to get his PR but his village people have made him deny his masters degree and he would no longer be able to claim it forever with ircc. Safest part is that he may deny the masters in a bid to improve his chances and yet, they would still deny him the Visa. Honesty pays 2 Likes |

eguoski:However you want to frame your letter, dont use the phrase "innocent mistake". From a canadian cultural standpoint, there is nothing like an innocent mistake. Substitute that word for words like "ooversight" , "inattentional blindness", explain that you read the question without reading meaning into it and deferred to your previous answer in your last application. If you stated your previous refusal on your USA visa, attach proof of that to show you are indeed credible and this was an isolated incidence. If you belong to an organization, let them write a letter attesting to your character, hopefully it shows this way isolated and not done for personal gains. If you referenced your refusal in your sop, highlight it to again proof that it was isolated. Facts as I see it: If you did not reference the previous refusal in your sop or loe, then it becomes very difficult to prove it was unintentional. The best you can do is pray for mercy and a refusal. 5 Likes |
