Good day everyone,I really hope I get my answer,is it possible to go for competence test in Canada without residing in Canada? And if I get my results is it possible to do the bridging program on a study visa then go back to the uk to continue working and taking my nclex there?

Thank you
I am guessing it isnt impossible but the ircc doesnt automatically give Visa for those reasons so you would still have to prove your case.

Hi
Pls a friend need your assistance.

I attended two secondary schools. The 1st secondary school for 6years but I didn't make my O' level (WAEC) results here, I don't even have the school testimonial report.

But in my 2nd secondary school which I spent just 2years(just Jss2&3), here, I have my complete O' level (WAEC) results and I also have the school testimonial.

Please, which of the above secondary schools will you advise me to use while filling CGFNS CES form to avoid issues when sending my secondary school transcript? and why?

Thanks in anticipation of your response.
Use the same school you used for ur nursing school admission. Reason is simply because of consistency.

Oh not the one in Canada, but the one in Qatar(sorry I wasn’t too clear) and I reside in Qatar with my family already, it is just we are still on lockdown since February and I was feeling like I am misusing this period.
But thank you I would relax and not be too hard on myself.
Thank you so much Ma’am.
Ohhh! Nice
Now I understand.
A lecturer of mine actually lectured at that school in Qatar.

Anyways it's hard for me to say which textbook because I am not sure if they follow UAE scheme or Canadian Scheme or if it is a hybrid.

Congrats......anyways relax cos it's a long road.

Hello everyone,
I just got admitted to study nursing at University of Calgary but we resume in January(bummer) can you recommend text books I can be studying till I resume...I don’t want to waste these months doing nothing.
Thank you.
Well, the battle is far from being over. I'd advice you focus on securing your Visa first before you start putting too much of yourself into the idea. Admission is easy to get for canada but the Visa officers are the major issue.

If you have successfully secured your visa, then congrats and heed to the advice that asked you to relax and enjoy the little time you have left soaking in love and your community before you travel.

Hello Master, I am a registered Nurse, Please i will like to have your contact, i am on an expectant and a potential winnipeg resident, incase you are too busy with your contact, here are some questions for your assistance,

why do you chose Canada Over USA knowing that you have Nclex for America as a Nurse,

Here is my email address :

or a whats app message on
I have always loved Canada and liked USA but my decision to remain in Canada and be subjected to a whole lot of BS in trying to get a license here is solely because of the slow rate of the USCIS and the Trump ban. That being said, in this year 2020, let's just say other things in my life are aligned more towards Canada than the states, so i am less eager to relocate there. Canada is a much better environment for the African children i hope to have someday so that's also part of my consideration. I would go to the states to work part time but I have no intentions of becoming American. I would soon be able to say I am Canadian, and for that I am super excited. Nursing here surely would take me longer to practice but am working on it. Personally, I decided that I would complete the BN program in my city due to a mirage of complications I would have to bear if I want to assess my credentials through NNAS and the entire process.

NB this is a public space so you may want to remove your phone number. Let's keep the discussion on the thread so it can grow. Thanks and I wish you the very best.

Good day Nurses
i have a medical degree background and i am looking to change to nursing in the US.
I'd like to know if there are affordable schools dat will take into consideration my medical degree grades to apply for an accelerated MSN program
To practice as a nurse, you would need to hold a valid nursing license. You may get admitted for a masters in nursing science without a clinical component but graduating from that doesn't make you a registered nurse.

Please friends @ vickyehi and others who are more informed I need answers to these questions. As a graduate nurse with RN, and RM and Bnsc,In comprehensive ranking system for Canada,do they count these qualification as just one with a degree,or one with a degree and diploma certificates? Also when the same provincial nomination,Are they talking about be nominated by a relative in Canada?
What it counts as is whatever the evaluator (iqas, ices, wes) says it is equivalent to. In the past, some people have been successful in isolating each degree and getting a report saying 2 or more certificates.
Provincial nomination means that the province (states) find you as a good fit to relocate and establish in their province. You mustn't have a relative there to nominate you (that only applies in some provinces such as Saskatchewan and manitoba). Each province have their criteria, so read about their criteria to know which you qualify for.

Good day Barbie,I have been following your thread and your YouTube channel. Please I need your help.
Can you help me find out how a medical doctor here in Nigeria can relocate and work in UK, Australia or Canada ?

Also,if someone studies Nursing for 3years in UBTH ,can she be eligible to apply for work in UK ? Or the person still needs to do one year, eight months midwifery course ?
To become a doctor in the uk you would need to take ielts academic, then sit for your plab 1 and plab 2.

For nursing, you do not need to do the midwifery program. Just pass ielts academic and take CBT and then OSCE.

Both plan 1 and CBT are written in Nigeria while the latter is in the UK only.

Good day house, please @ vickyehi I need answer to this question, Can I use my intern license for verification with nmcn for UK processing and can I relocate with my husband almost immediately. Thank you as I await ur response
No you cant use intern license. You have to receive your full RN license ist before you can do anything.

As long as you have the money to pay for the application of your family, you can do it all at once. People tend to space it out so that they can concentrate on passing their OSCE before family dynamics comes in.

For the benefit of those following this thread, what agencies do you recommend and why?
Westways may not be a perfect agency, I personally know Nigerian RNs that they have sponsored. Some are my classmates, ex-students and others I have not met in person but have had the privilege of guiding through their process and helping them get settled in the US.
The boss himself came out to answer this one.
Thank you jare.
I have numerous friends and colleagues in various stages with westways. I dont just talk because I feel like it. If I am not sure of an information, I do not publicly state it.

It's just 2 to 3 yrs for all agency...Avant pay is about $24/hr , they will also give you about $2500 when you come over to U.S.
Westways pay ranges from 30-40+ per hour depending on your place of assignment. They dont give you any money in hand (to the best of my knowledge).

Another difference I think is that avant staffs hospitals kinda directly, while westways is a travel agency so pay is generally higher when you travel.

Westways is 2 years and by the part of the process, I mean some people are helped with nclex prep till immigration, while others are helped sigh only the immigration process.

I agree with almost everything you said , but most contracts now in the US would require more the 2 year commitment.
When you say most, which companies are you referring to?
Best way to get a shorter contract is to do almost all of the process urself then get an agency only for the employment visa.
The more money the agency spends on you, the more they would want out of you.
TravelRe: Nigerian Nurses And Midwives With The Dream Of Working Abroad Let's Meet Here. by vickyehi: 6:57pm On Apr 25, 2020
@ bluebeard and @omonaija123 let's stop the assumptions about people and stop throwing shades. Esp @bluebeard

On the contract wahala, I always advice you read it well and know what the terms are. Avoid a contract longer than 2years because you may get frustrated if you hate the environment. Try not to breech your contract to prevent back lash on others but dont stay at any job to the detriment of your mental health. Places like avant pays about 26-28 bucks on an average and yes you may have friends in north California earning 60-100bucks. Try to do your time and then leave. The hospitals ups your pay from about 26 to 36 in some places after you are done with avant's contract and they retain you.

Ask your employers questions like:
1... the hours they are mandated to provide you in your contract.
2....if your contract is hours worked on based on time spent. Eg is it 2 years or 3000hours or whichever comes first.
3.....can you have a part time or locum job outside your contract?
4.....are there chances for overtime?
5.....do you get shift premiums?
6.....any opportunity for education sponsorship or reimbursement etc...

Good day Vicky, please I want to understand this information,Does it mean that after doing an Msc in nursing at Canada, that one is qualified to work as a trained registered nurse?please can you explain more.thank you for your responses so far and to all who has contributed.
The simple answer is NO.
A masters degree does not confer the authority to practice. It is purely educational and you would have to go through the international nurse credential evaluation process like everyother person to get a Canadian license. You would be able to complete a masters that doesn't require contact with clients( just book work).

Kudos to the OP - @barbiee,
I feel it would be a substantial waste of time, effort and money if further postgraduate education would not help one to obtain the Canadian-RN credential - and one would still have to go back to school in Canada to achieve such. In that case, won't it even be better to defer any other form of postgraduate education until one gets to Canada? Please help to shed more light on the transition from UK-RN to Canada-RN route, since I believe many people in this forum would be considering such route. I hope my dilemma is clear enough? Sorry for the long post.
To answer your question, a phd in nursing from the moon wont change the basic process as an international nurse in Canada. Truth is that the only education that matters as an international nurse is where you got your basic training. Meaning where you first qualified as a nurse.

With that in mind, I would advice you to keep your sights on the UK and later USA or Australia. For Canada, judging by your wife's experience, it means both of you would be in your 40s or later 30s. Age is a huge factor in the Canadian immigration process. Therefore, your options for relocating to canada would be through a study Visa to maybe come do a masters degree or some provincial nomination programs.

@bluebeard and @@Vickyehi
Thanks so much for your elaborate comments/contributions. I'll try those Universities and see how it goes.

Meanwhile, @vickyehi,
For those interested in 'a 2 year after degree in Nursing program ' which lead to Canadian Bachelor of Nursing which also automatically qualifies such individuals for the NCLEX RN in Canada, will the Nursing council Canada take such individuals to have equally met the English proficiency ie IELTS requirement after the successful completion of the program? or he/she must meet the ielts band scores despite the program?
You would be like everyother Canadian trained nurse. You would not need to write ielts or do anyother extra thing.

You never made mention of the applicant choosing the province where he/she would wanna work ? You never made mention of the advisory report gotten from NNAS? That NNAS sends the advisory report to the nursing regulatory body in the province of your choice, and its this regulatory body that tells u whether u have gaps or nah...before u come to whether writing osce or nclex or not... The PR route you wrote is very apt, nice one

Phew! lets not too stretch this longer than this....
Good luck with your pathway and ideology. Someday you'd understand better.
Oga oooo
Canadian route is like a hydra's head. That's why I said rough estimate of the process because I cant start listing every single step of the process accordingly. However who ever is interested can read from page one of this thread for an in depth understanding.
As long as the person I am addressing gets a basic idea of the process, then it's all good.

Btw.....I am waiting for you to explain your point to me. Last last na English dey cause all these problems cheesy grin grin.

Anyways my dear readers, I hope I have been able to convince you and not to confuse you on the Canadian licensure process. grin grin grin

[Thank you so much @vickyehi for your response.one more question in regards to the credential ranking service. What of writing nclex before the whole process comes through, can the nclex be written outside of canada give score or a gives a better chance at scoring that person?or can one write nclex before moving to Canada?.quote author=vickyehi post=88572648]
Check what your CRS score is at the link below, the higher your score, the better your chances. You should aim to score 470s above and that is dependent on your age at this point. After 30yrs, you loose 5 points on each birthday and loose all points for age at 35. You can also check the Express entry thread on nairaland for more info.
https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/crs-tool.asp
Canada's process is very different from the USA. This means that there are stages that you need to undergo before you get to the final stage of NCLEX-RN. The licensure process is a TOTALLY DIFFERENT ROUTE from the immigration process. The evaluation bodies and requirements are not the same AT ALL.

NCLEX-RN can be written outside of canada, but the competency test required to qualify you for nclex cannot be taken outside of canada.

Except you got your ATT from the USA, it is impossible to write nclex without stepping foot on Canadian soil.
Passing NCLEX-RN has no bearing on your permanent resident application.

I want you to see these 2 things as totally independent processes.
Licensure process requirement (rough estimate)
1....register with NNAS (evaluation body)
2.....ielts academic version
3...report from NNAS and register with the college of nursing of your choice
a) if it says "comparable" to Canadian education then next step is NCLEX-RN exam.
B) if it says "non comparable" or "somewhat comparable", then you have to take the test of skills exam ( it's an OSCe exam to identify your gaps).
B1) if you pass your OSCE without issues, then you go ahead and write NCLEX-RN
B2) depending on your performance, a number of bridging courses would be recommended. This ranges from 3months bridging( if a little gap was identified) to as much as 4 years ( if the gap is too much).
C) Complete your bridging course at the designated institution and then qualify to write your nclex.
4.....pass nclex and get licensed.

Immigration
1....ielts general version
2....credential evaluation with WES, ICES, or IQAS
3.....enter the Express entry pool
4.....get invited to apply (currently scores above 470s are surest bets)
5.....apply for the PR
6...get approved and relocate

No wahala, I've gone thru d chat. Well, Omni college isn't a visa agency, at least any learned person that goes thru their website can attest to this. Meanwhile, the only difference in this whole conversation u had with this your friend is the scenario of some students getting their PR while studying in the school, which is very understandable. Anyways, amma link you up to Omni College Representative, so lets see how this goes, okay? grin

Cheers, mate
Mr learned, the agency reference was a metaphor undecided undecided undecided undecided.

Anyways, I dont intend going to Omni. I am choosing a different pathway. I just did all these so people who come read the chats later are not misled.
