The new rule will apply to your application, no work permit for you if your spouse is going for undergraduate program, diploma or certificate program except if your spouse is a master or PhD student. Currently, as said by Mac Miller, processing of study permit will be paused till March 31st to enable provinces to build a process for issuance of attestation letter. Note that this letter must be included in study permit application. So, no study permit application for now till march 31st

Thanks for your response, so after paying deposit tuition fee what's the next step? Are we to write to the school for the attestation letter or what? And I read diploma graduate can now apply for 3 years work permit after graduation do you think that will also make spouse the SOWP eligible?

If your school is public college/university, you don't have issue with PGWP eligibility. Those institutions affected are private institutions which are not PGWP eligible but was licensed to offer public Institutions curriculum. It refers to as Public-Private Model Institutions. Example of public colleges/Universities are UBC, UoT, Centennial College, Seneca College, Humber College etc. Example of Private-Public Colleges/Universities are University Canada West, CCTB, Alpha College etc. Just research your school on Google to confirm. The Rules are changing so fast!! If you are coming here in September, please be ready for the following.
1. increased cost of living $20k +
2. decreased work hours 20hr per week
3. The possibility of getting a 3-year PGWP regardless of program length.

For now, avoid colleges, especially the PPI ones. They are being targeted by IRCC; good luck, and God bless.

Please do you have ideal about Centinnial college? I've gotten an admission with postgraduate course and I don't know if this new work permits rule will be an issue

Hello good people! I'll go straight to the point so as not make this a tedious epistle for those who could have genuine advise to share,

I'm apparently in a state of dilenma simply because I'm torn between going abroad for prospects of having a better life or staying in Nigeria for a PhD program, this is so because I have a passion for Education, 'lecturing' to be precise and my family have been the supporting pillar for this dream right from the onset, I've successfully completed my M.Sc progamme and my dad is urging me to waste no time at all and pick up a PhD form in Nigeria despite all the challenges that come with that idea, with the age long ASUU /FG stand off been a major worry also ,meanwhile I've been hatching plans to really just leave this country and go abroad, if nothing else but for the prospect of having what would hopefully be a better environment and proper education system for my career and future but my big worry here is that my Dad is insisting on me doing it in Nigeria because it saves cost and time to process visa and whatnot, but I'm of the opinion the inevitable delay in Nigeria's Education system is no better in comparison to the time I would spend in travelling out

I'm struggling here really, don't know if I should demand for the money he's willing to contribute for my PhD in Nigeria to add up to my savings and ramp up plans to travel out or just follow his advise, don't just want to make a mistake here

please and please I could do with some sincere advise and opinions on this issue,
