Yesterday, The Nation learnt that if President Goodluck Jonathan wins the ticket to contest the election, the North may dump the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) for another political party that presents a candidate of Northern origin. A source close to the Northern leaders described the decision as ‘a fall out of the secret meeting of Northern elders’ held in Abuja late last week. The meeting was attended by former military President, Ibrahim Babangida and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar among many others. Though Northern governors were absent at the meeting, our correspondent learnt that many of them are in favour of the move. Another source said: "Well, the game plan is that once Jonathan gets the PDP presidential ticket through the power of incumbency, the North will speak with one voice and shift loyalty to a party with a Northern presidential candidate. These decisions are some of the highlights of a six-hour meeting of some Northern leaders on Thursday in Abuja ’ Though the North is considering a protest vote against the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) if President Goodluck Jonathan secures the party’s presidential ticket at all cost, but some observers doubt the possibility of a common position by the North given the growing polarization of the region along ethnic and religious lines. A reliable source said: "The Northern leaders have made their position known that they won’t accept any move to alter the zoning formula in favour of the South-South in 2011. They are insisting on allowing the North to complete its two terms of eight years which ends in 2015. "In the alternative, the leaders are already working on ‘Plan B’ which will involve protest vote by the North in 2011 against PDP as long as the Federal Government lives up to its pledge of a free and fair poll. "They will leave the PDP en masse for Jonathan and team up with any other strong opposition party." The source added that "faced with worse scenario, the Northern leaders may back either Gen. Muhammadu Buhari or Governor Ibrahim Shekarau." As at press time, there was anxiety in Jonathan’s camp over the Thursday meeting by Northern leaders in Abuja. It was also gathered that Jonathan loyalists are also worried by fresh reports that Babangida, Atiku, some governors and Northern leaders met again in Makurdi on Friday before a book launch. The source said: "Some Northern governors are already backing the 2011 project on the retention of the presidency in the North. "In fact before the book launch in Makurdi, there was another round of discussion by some Northern leaders with Babangida and Atiku on the political future of the nation in 2011. "But the Thursday meeting has jolted loyalists of Jonathan because of its security implications."

If they want Jonathan to run which I believe he should, then lets consign zoning to the dustbin of history. If they want to uphold zoning suggesting it is the only way democracy can work in Nigeria, then let us have it written in the Nigerian constitution so that it is binding on all. After all PDP control both houses.

The problem is that the whole thing within the PDP or by the way other parties are not that simple. ZONING as articulated by the NOrth that brought OBJ is a FRAUD by the North on the rest of the country.

IF we apply the best man/woman for the job, the north may not be in power for a considerable period of time.

The North used the divison between SW and SE to always 'win' an election.

On political parties, he stated that funding should not be the responsibility of government and that anyone who wishes to remain registered should be prepared to take care of the financial implications.

LAW OF ATTRACTION, POLITICIANS AND OFFICES SEEKING.

The basis of my 'article' or write up is, do politicians ( in Nigeria especially) seek political office to serve and develop the governed ( ie, the people) or themselves.

Now, as we in the law say, the an who want to be in political office and doing illegal and criminal act is exhibit 'A', pure greed. self serving selfish people just looking out for themselves.

Strange though, if I were his defence counsel, I have a pretty good line of defence for him which is propably true in most cases of desperate people.

We need a God sent visionary leader to reposition and re -orient our minds/psyche. It has been basterdise by the military and thieveing political class.

When I hear Akunyili saying good country great nation or whatever she is trying to say, I feel sorry that we are in self denial and not facing the truth. we are bunch of people who need help from those leading us because 75% + are outright criminals who should have been locked away n maximum prison for life. But we 'celebrate them as some role model'.

PDP will break up and we prayed that it shoul happen now now, they are an evil party. If there were ever to be zoning agreed, that is a matter for PDP and not other parties let alone the whole of NIgeria.

Whether or not the Jonathan contest 2011, come 2015 the North will abadon PDP and rotational nonsense.
