defemz: Has anyone recently noticed Airtel internet connection running abyssimally slow. From my present location here in Kaduna, their network used to be blazingly fast. But recently noticed their 3.75g turned crappy, i mean really crappy. I first observed this immediately glo blocked their bis channel on pcs and smartphones, felt the mass exodus of subscribers back to their network is overwhelming their infrastructure . Is my current experience an isolated one or is it general?. So nairalanders, lets hear your Airtel present BIS browsing experience at your present location.

CelebritiesRe: Mercy Johnson's Advice To Ladies by Vincent41(m): 12:09pm On Mar 09, 2013
trendystuf: Some ladies have lost their thinking caps. Some found it but unable to use it. Must you clock 35 before you stop partying here & there? You already know all Eateries/ Hotels in town! You even know the tastes of their various ice-creams, pepper-soups, shawamas, etc.
And you can tell the prices of their beers and wines offhand.
Funny, you're singing “No man is responsible.”
*Which responsible man drinks to stupour and clubs every weekend? *Which responsible man samples you and your slutty friends randomly?
*Which responsible man sags with dog's chains on his neck and tattoos on his body?
Ask your self; “Is the guy I'm currently dating my dream man?”
Dear sisters,
If you are living your life as above, my dear, you are living a life of mirage. Be real! Humble yourself and so you will be raised.
The so called "responsible men" you are searching for are not in the clubs and hotels, you won't find them at the weekly birthday 'bashes', weekend beach crashing or pool-side jamborees loitering around women of easy virtues, drunkards and men of questionable characters. They are busy; in the Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges studying hard for the life after school, and in the offices, workshops, and on business trips striving hard to make life better for their families and better than they've met it.
Use that brain Sweet Sisters!
It's for thinking. - Mercy Johnson.

CrimeRe: Student Killed As LASU Reprisal War Gets Bloodier by Vincent41(m): 2:52pm On Mar 08, 2013
samm_miey: Barely one week after Damino Damoche, the final year student of the Lagos State University, Ojo, was killed by suspected cultists in front of the institution’s gate, another student was Thursday, murdered by suspected cultists on reprisal attack.

Although the deceased identified as Karim Abiodun, was reportedly not a student of LASU, but he was alleged to be a member of Buccaneer confraternity, whose members were said to be at war with members of the Eiye confraternity.

Report said the cultists stormed Karim’s home located on Afolabi street around PPL in Okokomaiko area at about 4a.m yesterday, from where he was chased to Peoples bus-stop around Ajagbandi and shot dead.

The late Karim, a second year student of Economic Education at the Lagos State College of Education, LACOED, would be the second person to be killed during reprisal attacks by warring cultists since the death of Damoche.

The first person shot dead, was identified simply as Kabiru. He was reportedly killed in the presence of his mother and siblings at their Abeokuta street home, also around PPL, Sunday night.

The Police as gathered, have arrested a member of a vigilante group in the area in connection with yesterday’s killing.

The suspect whose identity could not be immediately ascertained, reportedly admitted to have seen when the late Karim was being chased. He was also said to have identified one of the assailants .

Meantime, students of other institutions living around PPL have vacated their homes for fear of same fate befalling them.

Following the recent development, President of the  Lagos State University Students’ Union, Comrade Ibrahim Agomeji, has advised students to vacate off-campus hostels within PPL, Iba, Casidi, Franklass and Igbo-elerin..

According to him: “This became imperative as the lives and properties of students are no longer secured in these off-campus hostels around the university. It is beyond the powers of the university to provide you with security in your various off-campus hostels. Since the Police and the relevant authorities have failed to do this, I advise you return home to your parents, thereby coming to school from your various homes”, he said.

PhonesRe: Airtel Is The Best Telecoms Company In Nigeria by Vincent41(m): 11:17am On Mar 05, 2013
NOIBMUUL: I might be wrong and this might be my biased opinion but Airtel is the best telecommunication network in Nigeria.

Airtel just soothes me: good tarrif, reliable network (relative) and enough data bundle. For my kind of lifestyle I have my visafone internet stick for out of office net access. So my phones are just basically as back-up. Network is not perfect in Nigeria but for me Airtel is relatively reliable. Most importantly, their data plans are transparent and flexible.

I can't touch a glo sim card again because of my not too good experience with them. I hate mtn so much I broke my sim. Seriously, why do people still use mtn? Etisalat is currently occupying one of my phones but I might have to discard it because of their hidden tarrifs.

For me Airtel is heads above water.
de best of all dis network is determinde wen u are on a place dat has 3G.....
HealthRe: EU Approves Medication That Quenches Urge To Drink Alcohol by Vincent41(m): 7:04pm On Mar 01, 2013
webaplanet: The European Union has given the green light for the sale of a medication that will help quench the urge for alcoholics to drink, the companies behind the new treatment said Thursday.

Selincro, developed by Finland's Biotie Therapies, reduces "alcohol consumption by approximately 60 percent" or about a bottle of wine a day after six months, Danish drugmaker Lundbeck said.

With the go-ahead from the European Commission, Lundbeck, which will manufacture the medication, said it expects to launch Selincro by the middle of this year.

Selincro is mainly aimed at reducing alcohol dependence in adults who drink heavily -- consuming up to six drinks a day -- but who do not suffer from withdrawal symptoms or need detoxification.

"Selincro is thought to reduce the reinforcing effects of alcohol, and thereby reduces the urge to drink alcohol," Lundbeck said.

Lundbeck said excessive alcohol consumption is a world-wide problem, especially in Europe where it said more than 14 million people are dependent on alcohol.

CelebritiesRe: Bobby Brown Gets 55-day Jail Term For Drunken Driving by Vincent41(m): 12:39pm On Feb 27, 2013
Ace Ventura: Singer Bobby Brown, the ex-husband of the late Whitney Houston, was sentenced to 55 days in jail on Tuesday after admitting to driving drunk last year.

Brown pleaded no contest, an admission of guilt under California law, to driving under the influence and driving on a suspended license in October in a Los Angeles suburb.

Police said they stopped Brown after seeing him driving erratically, and that he failed a field sobriety test. It was his second arrest for drunken driving in 2012.

Brown did not appear in court on Tuesday and his plea was entered by his attorney. He must report to jail on March 20

The New Edition singer was also sentenced to four years probation, ordered to install an ignition interlock device and to attend an alcohol counseling program.

Brown and Houston divorced in 2007 after 15 years of what Houston later described as a drug- and alcohol-fueled marriage. Houston drowned accidentally in a Beverly Hills hotel bathtub on February 11, 2012, from the effects of heart disease and cocaine.

Foreign AffairsRe: Pistorius Crushed His Girlfriend's Skull Before Shooting Her by Vincent41(m): 12:50pm On Feb 25, 2013
[quote author=mukina2]Olympic sprinter Oscar Pistorius crushed his girlfriend’s skull with a cricket bat before shooting her dead, police have told her family.

Details of the post-mortem examination of South African model Reeva Steenkamp were withheld from last week’s bail application hearing.

But grieving relatives who saw her body before Tuesday’s cremation in Port Elizabeth described horrific injuries from the cricket bat, and entry wounds from 9mm bullets fired by Pistorius.

They were also briefed about the model’s death by police and lawyers from the state prosecutor’s office.

In a sworn affidavit read to the bail hearing in Pretoria magistrates’ court last week, Pistorius claimed that he used the bat to break down the toilet door after the shooting, saying he had not realised his girlfriend was in the bathroom.

The bloodstained bat, which is currently being examined by a police forensics team, will be key evidence when Pistorius goes on trial for premeditated murder.

The ‘Blade Runner’ – who has previously boasted about having a cricket bat, pistol and machine gun at home to defend himself against intruders – claims the bat became blood-spattered at the scene.

Last week the prosecution did not mention any details about the bat and the role they believe it played in Reeva’s death, opting not to disclose their case against Pistorius. But to secure bail, Pistorius’s legal team had to detail his defence, which included why he had a blood-spattered cricket bat in his possession on the fatal night.

Logicboy03: Hello, I need to get a tablet to be using on the go in Nigeria for business. Price isnt the problem for me. However, I need internet servuces and I heard that some tablets might nor work properly with certain Nigerian telecoms (eg Glo or Mtn and co)

I heard the Ipad 3 works well on MTN with an OK internet speed. However, due to connectivity issues (quick syncing to laptops without itunes/ bluetooth file transfers) with the Ipad range, I am also sympathetic to other devices like andriod tablets and windows 8 tablets.

Good afternoon Vincent, please note that the availability of the access point for use on non blackberry devices is erroneous and was as a result of a system error. This has been worked on and the status quo reverted to. You can subscribe to any of the data plans available for use on your mobile phones and devices. Best regards Glo
