First Staphylococcus is NOT a disease, its an organism!

Its is found in the nose and skin of all healthy individuals!

The bacteria in MOST cases will not cause a disease!

In rare cases, the bacteria will only cause disease as a result of impaired immune system or damage to the skin, and typical symptoms are evident in rashes, impetigo, boil, abscess or furuncle. . . i.e a localized collection of pus.

Serious disease will only occur if it migrates to the blood stream as with the case of a Toxic shock syndrome

Staphylococci illness is mostly common in people with lung diseases, cardiac problems, HIV, diabetes or Cancer, i.e they are mostly opportunistic in nature.

If you are sooooo disturbed, just walk into a clinic and get some fertility test done!

Thank you all for your insightful and kind suggestions. My inclination is to aim for a middle ground since the business is also expanding and taking in more staff. Since I had big plans for him (company car, increased capacity, responsibility, income, equity etc), he has severely limited his real options for upward mobility in the company. I will allow him to maintain his contacts with his pool of clients. However, I am completely taking away his responsibility for managing payments or contributing to managerial strategy, that is, he can now function only as a salesman - strike the deal and then refer the clients to a cashier (non relative). Payments now can only be accepted as cheques or receipts and confirmation of bank deposits from clients prior to releasing their goods. He will also report to a (non relative) manager with higher authority and compete with other (non-relative) salesmen/women for sales and consequently, commission. I think this treatment would humble him without destroying him or my goodwill at home. No one will listen to complaints at home if they know he still has a job and I am sure he will be miffed as my relative to have to report to layers of authority he thinks he should be in or above. Where he gets angry and refuses to make sales, then he will go hungry. His call.

Olaniran Ogunsanmi had left home to watch a match at a viewing centre in the neighbourhood and had not returned since that fateful Sunday, January 17, 2010. JIBRIL SADO writes on the new twist in the case as investigations progress.


The case of 22 years old Olaniran Ogunsanmi appeared to be a straightforward story of a missing person. An ardent football fan, and die hard lover of the premiership league, he had left home for a viewing centre on Tokunbo Street, Sabo Yaba, Lagos, to watch the match between Arsenal Footbal Club and Bolton Wanderers Football Club on Sunday, January 17, 2010. He has, however, not returned home ever since.


But shortly after investigation began into the whereabout of the young man, a new twist is being introduced into the matter. Indications are emerging that Ogunsanmi’s case has possibly gone beyond that of just a missing person. He might have been kidnapped.


To begin with, confusion had initially set in as the information available have shown that the boy may have afterall, not left for the viewing centre, or that there is a disconnect somewhere. For instance, Ogunsanmi reportedly left home at about 7pm on the fateful day to watch the football match, while it was gathered that the ball which actually kicked off at 5 p.m. ended a few minutes before 7 p.m.


The new dimension introduced to the whole scenario is that Ogunsanmi may not have afterall been missing in the ordinary sense but kidnapped. The suspicion is fuelled by the alleged revelation that the man’s image was captured in an Automated Teller Machine camera, while he was withdrawing money from his personal savings account.


A family source told the Nigerian Compass on Sunday that following investigations, it had earlier been discovered that the sum of N10,000 was withdrawn from the man’s Guarantee Trust Bank account on January. The family had hoped that the discovery would provide investigators with more clues as to the whereabouts of their son.


But in a swift twist, it was revealed that it was Ogunsanmi’s footage that was captured withdrawing the money. The family source said that the image attracted more suspicion, as it was alleged that the man was standing in such a way that suggested he was being commandeered into the action by someone else who was standing by his side, away from the camera’s view.


The family source said: “It was discovered that N10,000 was withdrawn from Niran’s account, and the scary thing is that it was actually Niran’s (Ogunsanmi’s) face that was captured in the camera. However, the way he was standing, both in the video footage and the still camera footage, it seemed as if there was somebody or some people standing next to him and threatening him into making the withdrawal.”


The father of the missing young man, Hon. Owoola Ogunsanmi, revealed that the suspicious camera footage was just one of those things that had shown that there could be more to the missing case than met the eye.


Following the line of investigation in the case, the Nigerian Compass on Sunday gathered that a tailor on the street from where Ogunsanmi disappeared had told the man’s family that he often saw him with another young man simply identified as Tolu. The family promptly narrated the discovery to the police who invited Tolu for questioning. But Tolu vehemently denied knowing about the disappearance of his friend.


The source said: “When Tolu was told that we were looking for Olaniran (Ogunsanmi), he simply answered, ‘I don’t know about his whereabouts o.’ His reply was too sharp and spontaneous and it raised more suspicion.”


Curiously, also Ogunsanmi’s Visafone telephone number: 07041495957 always rang each time it was dialed, although there was hardly any answer. On the few occasions the phone had been answered, however, the family had been thrown into further emotional turmoil, as pranks and threats emanate from the other end. According to the family source, on one of such occasions on January 20, three days after his disappearance, the voice on the other end simply asked: “Is that Doctor?, and then hung up the line.


Another call was placed to the number on January 24. This time, a female voice reportedly answered and merely asked: “Is that Alhaja? before hanging up the line. In the evening of the same day, a male voice allegedly answered a call to the phone number and reportedly told the bewildered family members: “Since you have decided to arrest Tolu because of your missing son, then you people should go to Ikate Beach tomorrow morning, you will find Olaniran’s (Ogunsanmi’) body there.


Rattled, the family was said to have reported the new dimension to the police which promptly narrated the same to Tolu. In his response, he reportedly said merely: “Why will they kill Niran (Ogunsanmi) because I was arrested.”


Prior to all of these, the source told Nigerian Compass on Sunday, Tolu had called Yetunde, Olaniran’s girlfriend on phone, telling her that he had heard that Olaniran was missing. He then reportedly assured her that the situation was under his control and that Olaniran would be found because he was a nice boy.


All these, according to the source have added to the belief that Tolu is the prime suspect in the case. He is therefore currently the guest of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Lagos Police Command, where the case is being investigated.


Ogunsanmi, a graduate of Biochemistry from Babcock University, Ilisan-Remo, Ogun State, is said to be about 5feet 8inches tall and is dark in complexion. He speaks English and Yoruba fluently. Until his mysterious disappearance, he was an employee of Price Water House Cookers Nigeria Limited, an accounting firm on Lagos Island . On the day he left home, he was said to be spotting a red and white Arsenal FC jersey over a pair of shorts.

The protesters who included celebrities like Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, Stella Damasus, Omawumi Megbele, the Rooftop MCs, as well as older well-wishers like Peace Fiberesima, Dele Momodu, Muma Gee, Nona Adimora and Charly Boy, assembled at the Eagle Square at 11 in the morning, from where they proceeded to the Assembly grounds.

They were met by a tight security cordon on the outer perimeter of the Assembly premises. The security personnel, numbering about 40, were led by Mohammed Shehu, the Divisional Police Officer of the National Assembly. Mr. Shehu was later joined by Emeka Okere, a retired colonel, the National Assembly’s Sergeant-at-arms. Mr. Shehu promised the protesters that he would inform the leadership of the Assembly of their presence, despite protestations that the management had been duly informed prior to the rally.

Mr. Okere, on his own part, said that the leadership of the Assembly was not available, but that he would be happy to deliver the protesters’ message to them, an offer which was turned down.

While this was going on, the marchers continued to sing and chant, demanding to be allowed into the Assembly. At 2.21pm, the protesters, now numbering over a thousand, surged forward without warning, succeeding in breaking the security cordon. This move, which was met with stiff resistance and threats to shoot, forced the policemen to beat a hasty retreat to the main gate of the National Assembly, where they immediately shut the gates. Not less than three lines of mobile policemen were immediately deployed outside the shut gates. The Assembly’s public address system also broadcast messages stating that no one without a staff identity card would be allowed inside the Assembly.

Conflicting message

There were conflicting messages from the security officials; while Mr. Okere called the NTA and AIT camera crews present and informed them that the leadership of both chambers of the Assembly had left the Assembly premises, others said they were not duly informed of the protest; an allegation which was immediately debunked by Adebola Williams, who coordinated the logistics of the rally.

“On Monday the 8th (of March), we sent a letter to the office of the Clerk of the National Assembly, and it was received,” Mr.Williams said. “We also sent a letter to Dimeji Bankole (Speaker of the House of Representatives) on the ninth and that same day he sent it out to the State Security Service (SSS), the National Assembly Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and the Sergeant-at-Arms.”

Mr. Williams also said that the Senate President’s letter was sent on the same day as the Speaker’s, and that a copy had been sent to the Inspector General of Police, Ogbonnaya Onovo, a few days earlier.

He added that he was aware that the Speaker’s office forwarded the letter to the SSS and the Assembly DPO because he personally followed up by visiting both parties, where he was shown photocopies of the letter, sent from the Speaker’s office.

“I spent four days at the National Assembly tracing these letters,” he said. “I was interrogated by an SSS Assistant Director, on the purpose of the rally.”

Eventually, after more than four hours of waiting, without the appearance of any member of the National Assembly, the Chairman of the House Committee on Youth and Sports emerged to address the crowd. The protesters, however, refused to grant him audience, claiming that he was not the one they had come to see, and also refused to formally hand over their protest letter, titled “Nigerian Youth Say Enough is Enough!” to any of the Assembly officials present.

The protesters departed the premises of the National Assembly at about 4pm, with a promise to return within three months and to mobilise young people across the country to vote out leaders who do not pay attention to the youth.

How on earth will someone be "asking" for 1.8m for a registered 2003 Accord, even if its a day old. It doesnt matter if its clean & sound , the question is ,whats the market value, if a 2003 Honda Accord tokunboh, never driven in Niaja can be sold for between 1.65 -1.7m, its ridiculous for anyone to be posting a "asking" price of 1.8m for a registred, unless you want to tell us this a custom built edition.
