These are not factories per se. They are shops and obscure corner outfits doing all manner of things in the name of producing goods. It's usual Aba way. Even the human you see on the street is fake.

It's like locking up one door and allowing multiple doors open to milk away what you saved. With all the sophistication of okonjo-iwuala she did remember the impact of our archaic tax laws on our economy.
Politics › Re: Nigerians Lived In “Window-Dressed Realities” Before Subsidy Removal – Oyedele by Vision101(m): 12:06pm On Jan 21, 2025
Ojuntana:
First of all, it is deeply concerning the change in rhetoric that occurs when the teeth of otherwise intelligent and resourceful professional are set on corn. The kind of gibberish that starts to flow is a sign that the corn being offered on a platter is indeed of the fermented stock. It intoxicates the gobbler with a resultant effect that's comparable with that of the famed 40 year whiskey.

That said, I find it insulting to Nigerians and their hardwork and intelligence when people make this silly narratives of fake life or window-dressed realities. This is more so when the people who make these kind of condescending statements are those who have benefited maximally from the society and have not ploughed back what can be said to be commensurate with what they've accrued for themselves from the proverbial cake.

Imagine a situation where a man who after enjoying the benefits of the high office of governor, and while leaving office makes a law that enables him to continue to enjoy the perks of that same office perpetually as if he were still an occupant.

Not only that, choice properties are allocated to him by him. He then turns around to accuse others of living a fake life.

Ditto this particular case as well. A man who was called to rewrite tax laws which will ensure more money goes to the political elites to fund their excesses and lifestyle both in and out of office turns round to accuse others of window dressing their realities.

I make bold to say Nigerians are among the most deprived yet hopeful and hardworking on the surface of the earth.

The average Nigerian has no social infrastructure or welfare system to fall back on in time of crisis save for a strong family structure.

The average Nigerian farmer works with the least of tools. Yet he's been asked to produce crops to feed the populace and export as well.

The average mechanic works with the basic of tools.
Yet he's expected to drive innovation in technology.

Same for the average carpenter bricklayer, tailor etc. No program to empower such hardworking Nigerians exist.

Rather, they are dumped on the lowest rung of the ladder and left alone to climb or drown while getting talked down on if they ask for a reprieve.

The UK spends 25% of its budget on social welfare and infrastructure. In countries like Saudi which are oil producing like Nigeria, home ownership is a right.

Shall we speak of countries like Norway where unemployment benefits sometimes exceed employment income for the citizens.

Nigerian leaders and elites are among the most corrupt and wasteful in the world. Yet, they hardly take responsibility for how the country has turned out on their watch. They are a bunch of greedy taskmasters who believe in being unquestionable and unquestioned.

One day na one day sha
Yes I agree with you concerning the high rate of corruption and mismanagement by the political class but have you considered the effect of population. The rate of growth of our population is higher than our GDP rate. It's an untouchable issue because touching it will bring several attacks.

The directive is a law to all workers under the establishment...… Until the chairman or the agency gives a counter directive, all personnel are expected to obey the directive. However at instance where night raids are unavoidable, personnel are aware of proper channel to follow and the appropriate legal document to obtain.
Can this be tendered in court? Is there no authority for the chairman to approve a specific operation overwriting his general directive?

Changes nothing. The medical supplies man was at home with his family. People broke into his house. He thought they were thieves and shot them with a licensed gun, in order to defend himself. Maybe he is even suffering PTSD from the previous armed robbery attacks by thieves in the night.

A neutral court and a good lawyer would set him free.

The EFCC officers are well aware of the ban on night raids by the EFCC boss.

The first question his lawyer should ask EFCC officers on the witness stand is 'Are you aware of the ban on night raids by the EFCC boss?'
The ban is it a law or a directive? A directive is not a law and cannot hold any argument. Criminality should be condemned.

Truth be told Kanu was extremely rude to Nigeria and the highest authority in the land. Law or no law the government can keep him for as long as they want.

Dbegining:
The man actually didn't say anything other than the FG needs to get credible and trustworthy people to push their policies. Full stop. He neither supported or opposed the stuff. So there's nothing like folding.

Come to think of it, two years that this man has been in office and all he and his supporters have done is defend him, attack his opposition and keep on shouting Peter Obi will never be president.

No achievement other than Tinubu won the election.

God have mercy!
The damage in our system has been total dislocation. It will take a lot of pains and time to fix. That is on the basis that we are consistent. Look at our tax system. No nation develops without an efficient tax system but this has been neglected for decades. Look at our energy sector - no reasonable electricity, no alternative energy, no petroleum refining capacity etc etc. The truth is that for things to reasonably work will take beyond two, three, four years. We need vision and consistently be pushing the vision.

Unfortunately our country is very complex. Just to reform our tax system rather than bring up economic arguments all manner of sectional, tribal and political issues are brought up. To fix this nation require an exceptional leader that has diverse capabilities. I'm not a BATist or APC but I have good knowledge of economics and finance.

SmartPolician:
Obasanjo did exactly what the law permitted at the time. That was why it was called the national grid (everyone has to add to a national energy pool) and it was on the exclusive list. Yes, Obasanjo was right!

How about states that don't generate power but they are enjoying power from Kanji dam and other power stations in Nigeria?

Now that the FG isn't ready to shoulder that responsibility alone, Tinubu/Buhari et al has enacted laws that allow states to generate, transmit and distribute their own power. State governors should start building power stations now.
Obasanjo and Atiku went ahead to privatize power. The law wasn't in existence when they came onboard. Because they wanted it done they made laws that permitted it. Why didn't they see the flaw in their decision and take the part taken by Buhari/Tinubu. Rather they balkanized state asset, sold them to their friends, invested billions that produced nothing and made the power situation worse.

You will not look at his statement critically. How can a man acknowledge that a team has put a reform together but the team lack knowledge to explain it? Does it sound rational? Meanwhile he acknowledged that the problem that the team is trying to solve was caused by decades long mismanagement. In other words trying to clear shit of many people for so many years. Is this not acknowledgement of ability?
