European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Man. City Fired Mark Hughes And Hires Mancini by vislabraye(op): 1:10am On Dec 20, 2009
Former Manchester City defender Michael Ball has revealed to Goal.com UK why he believes Mark Hughes can have no complaints over his dismissal as manager at Eastlands.

News broke during City's 4-3 victory over Sunderland on Saturday that Hughes was on his way out at City, and it proved no coincidence that former Internazionale manager Roberto Mancini was looking on from the stands, with the Italian confirmed as Hughes' replacement within two hours of the final whistle.

Ball, who was released by City at the end of last season, feels that Hughes knew what the parameters of his job were under owner Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan - and that he failed to deliver.

"Ultimately, the buck stops with the manager and the owners have spent a lot of money since they came in," Ball told Goal.com UK. "They want Champions League football and the win/loss ratio tells its own story.

"Hughes had a job to do, the owners lost patience and he's out. What can you do?

"The new manager will be given funds to strengthen the squad and people will be looking at who they buy in the coming weeks and months ahead.

"The owners want a Champions League place, make no mistake, and Mancini certainly has the technical nous and tactical ability to make a good go of this."

Ball, who spent two seasons at City, points to a lack of team cohesion for their fluctuating results, and uses his own replacement at left-back, Sylvinho, as a prime example.

"Certain positions [in defense] they do look a bit wobbly," added Ball.

"The only reason Sylvinho is not having a great time at the moment is because there is a great deal of space between him [at left-back] and Robinho [ahead of him on the flank].

"He needs his team-mates to help him out, and with the amount of space that's available to the opposition he's being run ragged, and it's not all his doing."

There is clearly no love lost between Ball and Hughes, who made the decision to release the former England international earlier this year.

"I wasn't in the manager's plans at the time," said Ball. "I was called into his office and told I was going to be released. I don't want to say too much, but my last few months at City weren't the most enjoyable, put it that way.

"I did want to stay, I was happy there and I believe I would have done a good job.

"Before Sven-Goran Eriksson [Hughes' predecessor] left, I was doing wel,l but he [Hughes] wanted someone else. I'm sure I would have done a good job if I was still there."

Okay, I am about to say something that is stereotyping and does not apply to every couple. I think that the reason Halle Berry’s relationship is lasting this time is because she is dating a white man. Not just any white man, but a supermodel white man who probably knows his own worth and value in a predominately white mainstream society.

Why Halle Berry’s Relationship is Lasting

By Cassandra George Sturges MA, MA, Psy. D

Halle Berry was born August 14, 1966. This woman is in her forties and she looks like she is in her late twenties. She won an Oscar for the movie Monster’s Ball and won the Miss USA world title in 1986. Halle Berry is currently one of the highest paid actresses in Hollywood and; a model and spokesperson for Revlon cosmetic company.

For a minute there it looked liked Halle Berry could not keep man to save her life. I thought that she and the Atlanta Braves, former baseball player, David Justice, was such an adorable couple. But that didn’t last. Then she was married to musician Eric Benét. You guessed it, that didn’t last either. In fact, there was a lot of news coverage about how Eric Benét cheated on Halle Berry -- all the time. I mean if Halle Berry can’t keep a man faithful--- Lord please pray for the rest of regular women. I thought Halle Berry and Eric Benét were too cute together. Then she dated that cute guy Michael Ealy, from the movie Barbara shop. But they broke up.

Halle Berry said that she had been a victim of domestic violence …”Domestic violence is something I've known about since I was a child. My mother was a victim of it. Early on in my life I made choices, and I chose men that were abusive because that was what I knew growing up.” Sounds like she has some issue her that have contributed to why her relationships had not worked out in the past.

Halle Berry met supermodel Gabriel Aubry in November 2005 at a Versace photo shoot. Gabriel Aubry is nine years younger than Halle Berry. Halle and Gabriel have a beautiful little girl named Nahla Ariela Aubry, born on March 16, 2008.

It’s been four years and I haven’t heard any drama about Gabriel cheating on Halle. I haven’t heard anything about scheduling conflicts that prevent many Hollywood couples from finding quality time to spend together.

Okay, I am about to say something that is stereotyping and does not apply to every couple. I think that the reason Halle Berry’s relationship is lasting this time is because she is dating a white man. Not just any white man, but a supermodel white man who probably knows his own worth and value in a predominately white mainstream society.

I think that because of Halle Berry’s level of beauty and success she needs a man who feels equally yolked in the relationship and who is not intimidated by her success. But not only is Gabriel not intimidated by her money, fame and beauty; he is also not easily insulted when Halle asks him to take out the garbage; pick up some milk on his way home or change the baby’s diaper. Gabriel has a strong sense of who he is in terms of his gender role and masculinity as a man.

I believe the Gabriel Aubry is secure within himself and it is much psychologically easier for him to deal with a beautiful, strong, wealthy, and maybe even bossy and emotionally needy black woman than it would be for an African American man who is trying to earn the respect that he deserves in a white male dominated patriarchal society.

Gabreil Aubry is not hurt by Halle Berry’s nude pictures, which I heard in several news sources, that Halle Berry’s nudity in some hermovies devastated Eric Benet and was one of the root causes that started their marriage to unravel.

I think that black men have a harder time dealing with seeing a woman that they love as a sex object naked for the whole world to see, and admire. Black men were forced to unwilling share their women with white slave masters for centuries during and after slavery end in America. I think that Halle Berry’s posing nude humiliated the pride in the black men that she dated, but because white men have a different culture this type of nudity does not bother them.

Halle Berry’s nudity actually boosted her career as a actress in a capitalistic society where the value of something is determined by how much money it makes and not how it makes people feel. I think that it is wise for Halle Berry to remain in relationships with white men who can accept who and what she is at this juncture in her career.

May be she never met the right black brother huh

Sports › Unbelievable! Kobe Bryant The Nba Player Of The Decade: by vislabraye(op): 3:14am On Dec 19, 2009
I am watching ESPN at the moment, and I heard an interesting News. Kobe Bryant chosen NBA players of the decade ahead of Tim Duncan and Shaque. May be be Shaq, but Tim Duncan ? Hello No

We say,
Is he the next Michael Jordan? Can he win a title without Shaquille O'Neal? Is he still better than LeBron James? When it comes to Bryant, the talking points have always missed the mark. No player in the history of the sport has been as hell bent on muscling up and improving his game every offseason. Bryant continues to set the bar on hard work, and there's no sign of anyone reaching his level in that regard.

The numbers say,
Bryant: 28.2 points per game, 5.9 rebounds, 5.2 assists, one MVP, four titles
Duncan: 21.2 points per game, 11.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists, two MVPs, three titles

You say,
SportingNews.com voting
Bryant 55%
Duncan 45%

They say,
Former Lakers teammate Shaquille O'Neal's case for Bryant: "The thing about Kobe is that, over the course of my career, I have never played with anyone who was as fierce as he is. By fierce I mean just having that extra killer instinct that you know when the game is on the line he is not going to shy away from the big shot, he is not going to make excuses. If we would go into the fourth quarter, playoffs or just some game in the season and we were within a little bit of the other team, Kobe was not going to shy away from the challenge of getting the win. He was going to take the shots."

Bryant says,

Our pick's memory of the decade: "This year meant a lot. We won a championship. It was satisfying, very satisfying, because we put in a lot of time and effort to fix things and get better. It's a great memory. I feel that we just had such a great team, such a fun team, from our chemistry to the way we executed. We went through some years and years of frustration to get to that point."

SN PLAYERS OF THE YEAR

Amodu has chosen his team, wait and see if he succeeds and if not fire him. The problem of Nigerian football is not Amodu Shuaibu
Exactly my brother !!!

People forget history so soon. Onigbinde used a bunch of rookies to the world cup on the request of sport analysts. What did it turn out to ? A huge fiasco. Now some one is mentioning Stanley Okoro. They think football is all about dribbling and not passing the ball. This generation of players we have in SE would need an extra genius coach to bring an impressive result out of them.

What a question. I know many United Fans will say CR is the best. I know of a guy who said CR is the greatest footballer ever. That angered me.

If you actually watched football from 96 till date, you will know for sure the CR is not in the class of De Lima. Forget the fact CR is the most expensive footballer today. Ronaldo was a phenomenon, he is the best striker of his time and also today, there's non equal to him.

When talking about trophies don't mention CR. Ronaldo De Lima won world footballer of the year 3ce, he was even good enough to win Euro football, He's the highest goal scorer in world cup history. He became world footballer of the year as early as 20 years of age,

PS IF THIS IS A JOKE YOU BETTER STOP IT. Don't compare them. As I'm typing, I'm fuming.

We completely understand, focusing on Nigerians draws attention from your country's problems, one of such being their extensive drug abuse.
RSA, you asked if you're making sense. Well, you arent. Proves my point on the low mental capacity of South African blacks. Let's not talk abt our educational system, your country's educational system relies heavily on expatriate staff and recently asked Nigeria for help in writing - that must hurt.
Are you listening to that frustrated South African black ? Let them continue to blame Nigerians for their problems. And I'm sure their minister of Health will now blame Nigerians for the high number of HIV infection,

If you feeling kidnapping is a lucrative business in Nigeria, come and join the crew. The Ministry Of defense will not start whining that South Africans are the cause of crime in our country. Go have a nice nap RSA. You are filled with so much suppressed anger and bitterness. After so many years of apartheid it's telling on you. Hating Nigerians won't solve the problem. Tell your people not to take hard drugs. Q.E.D
Romance › Re: Women, Why Do You Allow Men Get Away With So Much? by vislabraye(m): 10:00pm On Dec 17, 2009
Very Interesting contributions,

This sounds like another "hate men" topic that is so rampant on NL. If you really want to know the answer(s) to the question, ask Oprah. These are the sort of topics that stimulate her digestive juices.

The women of the former generation allowed men to get away with this sort of behaviour because they believed it's a man's world ( and they are right in thinking so ) but the ladies of today their eyes don tear well well, They are the liberated women, the independent sisters the emancipated ones that have been set free from the control of men, ( thanx to Oprah ). These same women have annual Beijing conference on how to get back at men, and all the women talks.

I think this modern thinking is why there is so much promiscuity. Women now say, what's the use staying a virgin and sexually pure when the men are busy fu.c.k'n girls as if there is no tomorrow. They feel cheated getting married and to find out their husbands have had very wonderful pasts times. There are also some older women who marry younger boys and also have affair outside, and i also think thats why we have so many sugar mums in town.

It takes 2 to tango. If a man cheats on his wife/g f it's usually because the other woman seduced him into doing it. And most times they know the marital status of the man. So the question should also be " why do some women seduce married men "
