luvinhubby: Politics is a game of numbers and influence, Wammako was adopted by PDP from ANPP and Shagari stepped aside for him to contest despite the fact that he won the primaries, in as much as I dislike PDP as a party with their philosophy of `chop-I-chop`, Wammako can decamp to APC but the I doubt if he can carry along the party structure that was on ground before he came in. My two kobo shaa!! I dont think he would be able to carry the body structure along with him to apc, With him and his deputy not on good terms it will be more internal crisis and the body structure might just split into 2 |
Politics › Sokoto Governor Wamakko, Deputy Governor Part Ways by vizboy(op): 9:49am On Dec 12, 2013 |
Deputy Governor Mukhtari Shagari of Sokoto State has stated that he would never leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and declare for the All Progressive Congress (APC) as Governor Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko did. Mr. Wamakko is one of several PDP governors called the G-7 who had formed a splinter group of the party before most of them announced their decision to join the APC.
Speaking to journalists at his residence, Mr. Shagari said he was one of the founding fathers of the PDP in 1998, adding that the party had done enough for him to remain in it. He stated that he had twice been made a senior minister under the party, he was given the ticket to contest the Sokoto state gubernatorial election in 2007, and later agreed to be the running mate to Mr. Wamakko when the governor decamped to the PDP. “Therefore, I cannot just abandon the party that made me and even honored me with national honors of Commander of the Federal Republic,” Mr. Shagari said.
The deputy governor also added that, for the more than five months that Mr. Wamakko had been going around consulting, the governor had never even once briefed him of his intention to dump the PDP. A SaharaReporters investigation confirmed that Governor Wamakko had since stopped allowing Mr. Shagari to act as governor whenever the governor traveled out of the state.
On Monday, Mr. Wamakko stated that the five governors who defected to the APC had resolved to dump the PDP for good. Addressing State House correspondents after a meeting of some PDP governors, including three of the G-7 governors, with President Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja, Mr. Wamakko announced that five members of the PDP’s G-7 governors had defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC). He explained that he attended the meeting following a presidential invitation to him and his other colleagues. He said that the meeting gave him the opportunity to explain to Mr. Jonathan that the G-5 Governors who defected no longer consider themselves members of the PDP.
“Well, the meeting went on very well because some of us came here as governors to discuss [a] PDP matter and our position has been known. On behalf of the five of us, I have already briefed Mr. President on our position as G-5 that we are no longer in the PDP mainstream and that we are already in another party,” Mr. Wamakko said.

Politics › Amaechi, Wike Groups Clash In Rivers by vizboy(op): 8:20pm On Dec 10, 2013 |
CHRIS ANUCHA, Port HarcourtThere was clash in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers yesterday, between supporters of the Supervising Minister of Education, Chief Nyesom Wike and Pro- Amaechi group. The incident, which took place at Etche Local Government Headquarters, Okehi, saw some groups of youths, armed to the teeth and shooting sporadically, thereby, causing pandemonium in the area. Activities in the area were paralyzed for several hours while travellers avoided the route. Some civil servants, who reported for duty that early morning were said to have been rattled by sound of gunshots, as they were seen running helter-skelter, to prevent being hit by stray bullet. Daily Sun gathered that the gun-trotting youths, believed to be members of the Grassroots Development Initiative(GDI), were protesting the plan, by the local government chairman, and stronger supporter of Governor Chibuike Amaechi, Mr Reginald Ukwuoma, to join the All Progressives Congress(APC). The rampaging youths were said to have carried a coffin, which they dumped at the entrance of the local government headquarters, before they went on a shooting spree, chanting anti-Amaechi, anti-Ukwuoma and anti-APC songs. Though, the timely intervention of policemen averted what would have resulted in a bloody clash many people still sustained injuries. One of the prominent politicians in Etche, Chief Emma Anyanwu blamed the clash on the local government chairman. According to him, Ukwuoma was heating up the polity in Etche, through his actions, especially, his planned defection to APC. But an attempt to reach the chairman of Etche Local Government Area proved futile, as his phone numbers were not going through, when Daily Sun called. Meanwhile, the Publicity Secretary of GDI, Mr. Samuel Nwanosike has denied the allegation that it was members of GDI that perpetrated the act. According to him, it was the people of Etche, who revolted against the chairman for planning to join APC. He explained that the people voted for him as the chairman, under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and wondered why he decided to dump the party. Nwanosike disclosed that the people were also aggrieved that Ukwuoma did not consult the 19 wards that made up Etche local government before trying to decamp to APC. Akpos went to a native doctor and requested to know how bright his destiny would be. The native doctor drew a circle with a white chalk and another circle with a black chalk. After that, he placed a dead millipede on the floor and asked Akpos to watch carefully. He said he would recite some incantation to make the dead millipede start crawling. He told Akpos that if the millipede crawls into the white circle, it means that his destiny will be bright but if it crawls inside the black circle, it means his destiny will be dark. Finally he started his incantation and the dead millipede started crawling. When it got in between the two circles, it turned and started crawling towards the black circle. Akpos watched and immediately it was about entering the black circle, Akpos picked it and gently dropped it inside the white circle. The native doctor who got furious asked Akpos why he did that, Akpos replied; i won’t fold my arms and watch my destiny crawl into darkness because my destiny is in my hands. |

Little Johnny sees his Daddy’s car passing the play ground and go into the woods. Curious, he follows the car and sees Daddy and Aunt Jane in a “Passionate Embrace.” Little Johnny finds this so exciting and can barely contain himself as he runs home and starts to tell his mother excitedly….”MOMMYMOMMY, IWASATTHEPLAYGROUNDANDDADDYAND..” Mommy tells him to slow down. She wants to hear the story. So Little Johnny tells her. “I was at the playground and I saw Daddy’s car go into the woods with Aunt Jane. I went back to look and he was giving Aunt Jane a big kiss, then he helped her take off her shirt, then Aunt Jane helped Daddy take his pants off, then Aunt Jane laid down on the seat, then Daddy…” At this point, Mommy cut him off and said, “Johnny, this is such an interesting story, suppose you save the rest of it for supper time. I want to see the look on Daddy’s face when you tell it tonight.” At the dinner table, Mommy asks Little Johnny to tell his story. Johnny starts his story, describing the car into the woods, the undressing, laying down on the seat, and…..”then Daddy and Aunt Jane did that same thing Mommy and Uncle Bill used to do when Daddy was in the army.” |

Politics › Edo Workers Suspend Strike As Benin Monarch Intervenes by vizboy(op): 10:31pm On Dec 09, 2013 |
Workers in Edo State on Monday suspended their one- week-old strike, following the intervention of the Oba of Benin, Omo N’oba Erediauwa. Erediauwa had on Friday last week held a meeting with the leaders of the state chapters of the Nigerian Labour Congress, Trade Union Congress and Joint Action Committee, leading to the suspension of the strike. The labour leaders however demanded that their demands be met by the state government by the end of January 2014. The workers in heeding to Erediauwa’s pleas, however, said the Permanent Secretary in the state Ministry of Environment and Public utility, Major Lawrence Loye (retd.), be removed, over Friday’s clash between his aides and some labour leaders, where the state chairman of the NLC, Emma Ademokun, sustained injuries to the head and other parts of the body. Ademokun during a press conference in Benin, said labour had met with government four times within the last week, where he said some agreements were reached, adding that the Oba’s intervention also led to the suspension of the planned one-week protest, which would have started from Monday. The workers, however, expressed their disappointment with the way Governor Adams Oshiomhole had so far handled labour-related matters in the state. They urged the government to “learn to attend to labour issues promptly so as to nip crisis in the bud.” Source: www.informng.com/edo-workers-suspend-strike-as-benin-monarch-intervenes/ |
