PoliticsRe: Why Are The Yoruba So Obsessed With Igbos On Twitter? by vonxe: 5:57pm On Mar 30, 2019
Excaperx:
First of all I'm a Benin guy to make things clear.

One thing I observed on Twitter is the hated given to the igbos by Yoruba's "celebrity". I've never seen where influential igbos on Twitter talk about South west or Yoruba's.

It's always Yoruba famous people even with verified handle insulting the south east, why is that?

Wetin igbos do una? Election never finish so why the hate for people that don't send you?

They keep mentioning abia, in fact I'll prefer to live in abia state than to live in ekiti, kwara, osun and co.

You people brought than many of your kingmens for a Fulani man and you think igbos are your problem?
It is a two way thing. I dont see it ending soon.

The two tribes hatred for each other divided the south south, some like the yorubas while other prefer ibos to yorubas. You belong to the later. My neighbours in Benin prefer to rent their house out to Yorubas rather than ibos and another Benin man does not want to associate with a Yoruba man.

In my opinion I think the hatred can only be stopped if the ibos wants
PoliticsRe: SE Abandons Atiku, Romances APC For Positions It Did Not Earn by vonxe: 7:08am On Mar 18, 2019
BabaRamota1980:
Before election Ndigbo promised to deliver SE for him and declared Buhari will be retired to Daura. He believed them.

In fact the picture below is the symbolism titled "Ndigbo looking for a surrogate mother" after the elites of Igboland said Atiku is married to their daughter and they cannot abandon him for a stranger.

After his loss he refused to concede and congratulate the winner but said he is going to court to fight the INEC judgement.

Ndigbo are slowly backing away from him and they have started singing to everyone that can hear that they did better in supporiing Buhari in 2019 than in 2015. They will soon send a congratulatory team to Aso Rock to congratulate the winner and beg for positions. Their favorite positions are usually Senate Leader or SGF.

While Atiku is strategizing on way forward in his legal battle all those in SE who promised to deliver victory to him are now evaporating, all the Atikulants are slowly becoming Buharideens. They are not concerned anymore about him....they are now trying to get in bed with APC (Oshiomole and Tinubu) to curry favor and get positions they did not earn.

This is advanced backstabbing and coming so soon after their candidate lost. Shame on SE politicians.

Nigeria belongs to all of us but those who win elections own it for a period of four years to structure the ruling administration they way it favors their agenda.

Igbo abandoned the APC agenda and adopted the PDP way. Now you are abandoning the PDP agenda to embrace the APC cause. This is an ethnic defection.

You still have not learnt your lessons about Nigerian politics.
What I fear is that the day SE master the Nigerian politics, they are going to rule and be in power for a long time.

PoliticsRe: FLASHBACK: “the Youth Sleep Too Much”- Obafemi Awolowo by vonxe: 5:41pm On Mar 17, 2019
Emedu:
As is well-known, Gani is a brilliant and busy advocate as well as a jurist of growing reputation. That he is able to MAKE THE TIME , I repeat MAKE THE TIME , in the midst of his exacting and crowded professional activities, to write a scholarly and thoughtful book like this, should be an object lesson to all those young people who work for only about 8 hours a day, and still complain of lack of time to devote to study and creative sidelines.
Says Napoleon: ‘Three hours’ sleep is enough for any man’.

The trouble with many of our youths is that they sleep too much; play too much; and indulge too much in idle chatter and gossip.

In this connection, my advice to every educated young Nigerian is that he should take each day as a sacred unit which must not be misused or dissipated, and see to it that, out of the 24 hours available to him, he spends at least 8 concentrated hours on work, plus at least 8 hours in serious study, creative leisure and self-development. Eight hours are enough for feeding, relaxation, and sleep.

The inalienability of free education as a fundamental human right, and the economic, political, and other advantages which are accruable from education for all our citizens have been fully and competently dealt with by Gani. I do not, therefore, want to take any of your time to restate these points.
But there are three important aspects of this matter which I would like to take this opportunity to stress.

The first is that, whatever may be our beliefs, predilections or ideological orientation in the matter, once we accept Compulsory Universal Primary Education as a necessary national policy and are desirous of raising the standard and quality of teachers and teaching in all our primary schools, we must, as wise and practical people, realise that free education at the other two levels (that is, secondary and post-secondary levels) ipso facto becomes an inevitable and indispensable prerequisite of the successful launching and operation of the CUPE .

If Nigeria sincerely intends, firmly and consistently, to tread the path of economic development, it must seek deliberately to reduce the number of people working in the agricultural sector as well as modernise the means and improve the terms of employment in this sector; it must also, simultaneously, provide sufficient employment of the opportunities in the manufacturing and services sectors for the labour force displaced from the farms; and, in order to ensure efficient performances in all the sectors of the economy, it must also educate and train the reduced labour force in the primary sector as well as the released labour force which is being absorbed into the secondary and tertiary sectors.
All these can only be done by embarking on Free Education at all levels NOW.

We have told ourselves, again and again, that we are a people in a hurry. Indeed we are. And, thank goodness, that we have the manpower and natural resources to accomplish, in the economic-development race, such shining records as have been set by Japan and the USSR.
In other words, it is within our power to transform this dear land of ours into a developed country within the next twenty-five years at the most.

However, we must not be deceived. Unless we introduce free education at all levels NOW, this great objective would elude us: The majority of our people would, in spite of our oil boom, continue to wallow in abject peasantry and poverty; and, at the turn of the century, we would probably still be numbered among the most poverty-stricken of the under- developed nations of the world.
Let us try these and grow Nigeria of our dreams

Is this a joke or word out of ignorance? In terms of academic qualification, Seyi has it than Adelabu. In terms of exposure, experience about management, service to humanity etc Seyi has done it better than Adelabu. What are you saying? Seyi has been managing his private business even when Bayo was still in school.
I like the way answered me, you focused on the substance.

Both schooled home and abroad

Both have immense international exposure

One is a trained accountant and the other is a trained Engineer.

The difference is :

Adelabu was the Executive Director/Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Nigeria's largest bank, First Bank of Nigeria Plc. (FBN) at the age of 39.
Adebayo was the Deputy Governor, Operations of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Adelabu served as the Chairman, Board of Directors of the Nigeria InterBank Settlement Systems (NIBBS) and has chaired the board of Financial Institution Training Centre (FITC). He is also a serving member of the Board of Federal Inland Revenue Services (FIRS), Nigeria Security Printing and Minting Company (NSPMC), the Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) and the Nigeria Incentive-Based Risk-Sharing System for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL).
Adelabu is also a businessman, He is the Group Chairman of Bayse One Group of Hotels, the Best Western Plus Hotels, Ibadan and Bayse One Farm

While

Seyo Makinde portfolio only shows he was the Engineering manager of IOC's and He is now the Group Managing Director of Makon Group of Companies, which is just an indigenous company

One understand Nigerian system better and was in position to make decisions that might affect the Nigeria economy

All in all, Nigeria political atmosphere is complex

People of ogbomoso are already grieved with the removal of (Junior) Alao Akala from his elected post by the APC party (althught was restored back due to action of his father).

Many Ogbomoso resident sees Alao Akala's recent moves as that of a traitor. Alao Akala ruin the hope of upcoming people from Ogbomoso with intention to rule Oyo state with the reason he gave for cancelling his gubernatorial ambition. Many will not forgive him.

Was Alao Akala not an Ogbomoso indigene when he was massively voted for to become the Oyo governor?
You are not being neutral despite claiming you neither support PDP nor APC, you want PDP to win which is understandable from what you just wrote.

The reality on ground is that, a state with the largest percentage of national assembly members in APC will likely get a governor from APC.

Ogbomoso is the deciding factor if Akala can do like omisore then the gubernatorial elections belong to APC else PDP takes the mantle.
I repeat the game being played by APC, although coming late, will have effect on the election.

Without mincing words, I want Adelabu to win cos he is more qualified than Seyi Makinde.

Note. I dont and will never support a self imposing emperor in southwest

Here Is Why APC Will Never Win Oyo Gubernatorial Election; Not Just Because Of Ajimobi

Try and meet anybody on the streets of Oyo state and ask who their next governor is, the simple brief answer they will give you is "Seyi Makinde". Many card carrying members of the APC party in Oyo state will also give you similar answer due to facts as explored in this writeup.

It is no longer a new fact that the present outgoing Governor of Oyo State, Senator Isaac Abiola Ajimobi, has stepped on many toes, he is megalomanaic and has lifted himself to the status of a deity. He lacks Iwa Omoluabi, sympathy, and has insulted the intelligence of both young and adult citizens of Oyo state who elected him for the governorship mandate. This may be a minor issue anyway among several reasons why peope of Oyo state will not vote the APC candidate.

The recent intervention by Tinubu and the weakling action exibited by a former governor and gubernatorial candidate of ADP, Alao Akala are just actions and despiration which will end in futility if the mandate of the people is allowed.

1. Mr. Tinubu is the Chancellor of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Lautech, and the both state governors whose Lautech is in their charge are member of APC party where Asiwaju Tinubu is their party leader. We expect him to use his influence to bring about a change but as much as I know, he never for once show any care to call the two governors and liase with them about how an end can come to the incessant strike in the institution.

A Yoruba adage stated: Agba kii wa l'oja ki ori omo tuntun o wo, but I dont think this context can be apply to Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu with what has happened in the history of Lautech. However in contrast and for whatever reason it maybe, whether political or eleemosynary, Seyi Makinde was the greatest donor of the #SaveLautech donation.

2. With the many wealth of Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu of Lagos state and years of his been the Chacellor of the University, Lautech, I have not notice a single structure in the school in his name built by him; not even a classroom. I remember I saw him fly and landed one of his Helicopters in the school premises but what has this got to do with the thousands of students whose destinies were put on hold, and the insult by the "constituted authority" who instead of putting soothing balm on the wounds of the irate students, decide to treat them like nonentity.

Now Asiwaju Tinubu is coming around to act like a god and a savior of Oyo state.

3. The Mr. Adebayo Adelabu, the Oyo APC gubernatorial candidate has tried to divide the good people of Oyo state along the religion line (using the divide and conquer trick). His religous instigating comments about Seyi Makinde showed how distant he has been from the people of Oyo state over the time.

Residents of Oyo state are educated and mature beyond the shackles of religion, we are elites and cannot be limited by religion. Every extended family in Oyo state is a mixture of people of both religion.

That statement of his with intention to cause division using religion shows that he is not better than the present outgoing Governor. An elder state man and a true leader will never and ever cause division amoung his people. If Adebayo is given the chance, he will turn the back of many people and create more division in the Oyo state to achieve his any goal and the will of his god fathers.

4. Mr. Tinubu cannot extend his god fatherism and hegemony to Ibadan and Oyo state at large as we all know the result of his political dominance in the Lagos state. We need no governor who will exalt the will of his god fathers (about three of them) over the will of the people who voted him into office.

Even, many of the card carrying APC member will not vote Adedubu as they still regret the fact that Mr Tinubu of Lagos state in conjuction with Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo state brought Adebayo Adelabu and lord him over the APC party in Oyo state disregarding the rights to have a say of other party member who have been loyal to the party and have working for it in the past eight years.

Note:* I'm not politician, I dont belong to any political party and have never meet or have any thing to do with Seyi Makinde. These are my observations over the time and considering the recent happenings in my state, Oyo State.
I believe ogbomoso is the difference between APC and PDP in Oyo state.
The card Tinubu is playing will have effect in a way but whether the effect will be enough is another thinking.
All in all looking at the profile of both candidates I will vote for adelabu over makinde.
But the masses determines the votes not the elites or educated.

So south-south should have the senate presidency and deputy should come from north-east some like ali ndume or danjuma goje or any other competent hand from that region will do. Then in the house of reps the speaker should come from the south-east, imo state to be precise they should be rewarded for give apc an in road into the south-east. Deputy speaker should come from any where in the north central considering the fact that the last senate president is from the region.

Vice president - southwest
Senate president - southsouth
Deputy senate president - northeast
Speaker - southeast

PoliticsRe: Southwest Vs South South (which Is More Developed) by vonxe: 9:19pm On Dec 01, 2018
Capital infrastructure decays faster with higher population density, this is why Lagos still looks haggard.

Education is a long term investment which will/can be reaped 15-25 yrs time. That is a long term investment.

High igr vs high population density will give you slow growth rate e.g Lagos, rivers

Employment rate signifies standard of living. Even if it is to feed

Access to Electricity, health, water also determines standard of living

Onitsha as an economic powerhouse have always be a prime catalyst for Lagos demographic and economic changes over time. I have always maintain in this forum that Lagos journey into an African mega city of the 21st century was ignited by Onitsha. By the second half of 20th century, Onitsha have already became the biggest market in West Africa.Civil war, structural adjustment policies of early 80s, marginalization, dearth of infrastructure (no roads, seaport, international airport etc.) forced so many traders in their millions to move to Lagos in the eighties and thus, Lagos journey into mega city have begun. Bokoharam, internet, globalization, strong/rooted Igbo diasporan population, the successive policies/call for Igbos to invest back home, gradual yorubalization of Lagos State etc, all have resulted in Onitsha witnessing Urban expansion and population growth.(still with no seaport, rails, bad roads, second niger bridge, no electricity). Onitsha of 70s, 80s, 90s don't exist anymore. The boundaries have gone down. Urbanization & good network of roads in Anambra State have connected Onitsha to Asaba. Onitsha to Nnewi to Ekwulobia to Awka to Ozubulu, Ihiala, Okija and all in between to no boundaries.

This port will take a long time. One necessary thing is a train to the SE or a 8 lane road to the SE. Why am I saying this? Since it a ppp, the private company in partnership would want a guaranty return on their investment. Industries will sustain any port, that is why Lagos ports will always lead and flourish due to Lagos, Ogun and oyo states industries. South east in more industrialized than the whole south south. Luring the companies from SE through less import tax, good roads/ ease accessibility to the port. Forget all the one man businesses claiming they import a lot, their importation is very very very small compared to what the big industries import

-Kano earns less IGR than lagos
-Kano has 3 times more land mass lagos
-Kano was not a federal capital, therefore no major federal governmental input.
-Kano is less indebted than lagos.

Meanwhile Kano pulled off a 2km start to finish bridge without tolling coupled with excellent roads.

-Lagos was a capital with 75% ready layed down roads/amenities..
-Lagos is heavily indebted to a tune above 1trillion
-Lagos earns most revenue than all 36 states.

Kano has more revenue from the FG than Lagos.
All state are indebted.
Lagos has the highest civil servant in Nigeria almost 4 times of kano. Think of the salaries.
Lagos has delivered projects Kano cant think of
