2 Timothy 2:14 (American Standard Version - ASV)
14 Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them in the sight of the Lord, that they strive not about words, to no profit, to the subverting of them that hear.

Paul is telling us to drop idiotic arguments about words such as 'speaking in an unknown tongue' vs 'speaking in tongues'

2 Cor 4:3-4 (KJV)
But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: 4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

playing dumb is a career?

Somebody boldly claimed that Christ took away the OT curses but not the blessings. Am sure they never had in mind Malachi, otherwise their glaring contradictions would have revived a corpse. Must be mbaemeka.

Here is Adeboye;
In Malachi 3:8-11, God said all His children who are robbing Him in tithes and offerings have violated His covenant, and therefore are under a divine curse. However, He says if they will restitute their ways, He will personally rebuke the devourer for their sakes and open the windows of Heaven to them and give them a blessing they will be unable to contain. There are two type of devourers – the ones sent by the devil (John 10:10) and the ones sent by God. To deal with the devourers sent by the devil, simply resist him and he will flee from you as long as you are in right standing before God. But to deal with the devourers sent by God, it is through restitution. You will have to cry to God for forgiveness and thereafter undo what made Him to send the devourers in the first place. Do you owe God in tithes, offerings, thanksgiving or vows? Ask for forgiveness and go ahead and pay what you owe. If it is in tithes, also add 20% as interest being the penalty for eating your tithes (Leviticus 27:31).

Pat Robertson
Right Wing Watch reports, “The viewer said that she and her husband are “retired and living on a small pension and Social Security income” and “barely have any money” because of her husband’s medical expenses.”

She asked Robertson if it would be “wrong to use [tithe] money towards medical expenses instead?”

Quoting Malachi, Robertson responded, “Your husband has all these medical problems because the ‘devourer’ has not been rebuked. You need to rebuke him. You give your tithes faithfully and God said, ‘I will rebuke the devourer,’ the person that is eating up your money and eating up your health. So you want to be healthy? That’s a promise in the Word.”

Jesus was only good at making up stories. The people who listened to him were the poor and the outcasts, who were mostly famished during those boring talks. Whenever somebody claims to be fulfilling a scripture exclusively, I take cue and head for the hills.

John the Baptist who came in the spirit and power of Elijah did no miracles. Why should this latter day Elijah purport the evidence of his calling to be signs and wonders? Are we to have Elijah before Jesus' return ?

Revelation is one place I stick to what God shows me not what others teach.

-They call him THE Mighty Prophet of God
-He does pull crowds
-Claims to have healing and signs
-Repentance and Holiness is theme
-Will not hesitate to criticize prosperity gospel, 'indecent' dressing in churches, witchcraft in churches
-Has had elaborate teachings on Revelation majoring on the Horsemen. He reckons some have been released

Here is the catch;
One adherent vows the man will not taste death as he will be raptured together with the church (that's indirectly prophesying Christ's return in under 50 years this being the longest he can possibly live) seeing he is come in the spirit and power of Elijah and he must prepare the Church for rapture. So he can't stop BEFORE Christ returns

His US site says as much;
As for Dr. Owuor being sent by the LORD in the spirit of Elijah in Malachi 4:5, we must anchor ourselves upon the words of Christ in the Gospels. I know, it is dark and the days are evil, and deception has gone viral; however, Jesus warned us ahead of time and left us His imperishable Word, and Mighty Holy Spirit.

I read markMiwerds post to the effect that even Creflo Dollar has changed his stance on malachi. He recently taught that non-tithers are not cursed. He also mentioned other pro-tithers who are revising their position on this.

Isn't it funny how they cling to these beliefs yet they are so embarrassed of sharing or admitting the same? Somebody is ASHAMED of the 'gospel' they peddle. Their consciences must be pricking them BIG
Candour:
You see, if you go into past tithe threads, you'll see their true beliefs on the issue. This tactical distancing from Malachi 3 is a recent development prompted by the realisation that folks are getting wiser about the lies. One even opened a thread standing on Malachi 3 to call non-tithers criminals.

Thank God even Hagin has corrected them in his book.

You have a tedious way of debating where you shoot so many stray points and leave them unanswered. It is called Gish-gallop. What you need is FOCUS like mbaemeka on one point, clear it and then move on to the next.

When you tie GRACE and WORKS to your theory of speaking in tongues vs speaking in an unknown tongue NOW, many days and many threads after you could not respond to the rebuttals I raised against your position, it is clearly meaningless engaging with you.

I have little interest in responding to you UNLESS you demonstrate how what I said is related to your theory of tongue vs tongues not to mention a commitment from you that you will FOCUS on one issue at a time

shdemidemi:
I was caught aback seeing you make a statement like this.

1) I will like to know your definition of works

2) your understanding of GRACE

3) when 'grace' was fully initiated by God.

It is very much pertinent to understanding the tongue or unknown tongue issue, so sincere answers required.

Well,
it is a devotional you have zero part in. You are Oyaks foot soldier. Quite possible you don't even read whatever you post. Which is why I wonder if most of those who read it are not CE members already and if they could not access the information other way. Do you have members who don't use the devotional on a daily basis?

Jehovah's Witnesses are meticulous record keepers of every Awake,Watchtower,New World Translation they gave, homes visited, members witnessed to. They had special forms even for clocking the hours they put. Ask paulgrundy. It is a WORKS system. Cults relish WORKS. It is the only way to keep members in check, reminding them of dire consequences. WORKS is the only thing that gives them relevance and a sense of entitlement. You won't find GRACE in cults because GRACE is liberating.
Gombs:
Vooks, I think you are smarter than this. ROR thread is not a discussion thread, it is a devotional thread. All the ones you mentioned are discussions, some made front page.

RoR has been on for long, the oldest (maybe I'm wrong) standing thread with daily updates. Buddy, I know those who get updates there for their whatsapp and facebook posts... in average, no less than 1, 500 is reached daily. Now, my joy is the word going out, lives changing, unlike some with the tear down, pull down syndrome. They type away, criticizing and castigating, but never making an impact themselves.
Christianity Etc › Re: The Deception Of Malachi 3:10-11 "Devourer" And "Storehouse" EXPOSED by vooks: 7:51am On Nov 18, 2014
I recall this question came up in that moderated debate. Image123 categorically denied threats and curses too. Their defense was they never threatened nobody on NL. But neither did they condemn them. This is hypocrisy. How do we have regular folks terrified of catching HIV because of not offering Firstfruits? Who taught them thus? Did they imagine these things?

The point is there is massive spiritual abuse practiced to make believers part with their money. Paul's formula of giving 'without compulsion' and 'as you purpose' is clearly inadequate to feed their greed. Why would a minister go to such ridiculous extents to collect money? Is it in the interest of the believers or themselves? Your guess is as good as mine

Bidam:
And i have not seen any so far, if they are threatened then it's wrong. grin
trustman:
Now, Bidam, are you really being truthful on this?
Will you say you've heard or read no person or church advocating tithe payment today 'threatening' believers with 'robbing God' and the eventual possibility of ending up in hell?
Or losing blessings or health, etc?
MarkMiwerds:
i have posted this more than once on this forum, so not sure why you haven't seen it?

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Kmh_IF-eJQc

Also, google Angelica Zumbranos, she tells people that she saw people in hell for not tithing. If
I remember correctly, Richard Sigmund also preached non-tithers would go to hell because they are robbing God. Practically every tithe-teaching preacher I have ever known tells their congregations their health, jobs, families, homes, vehicles, etc., will be cursed for not tithing.
Christianity Etc › Re: The Midas Touch- A Balanced Approach To Biblical Prosperity - Kenneth Hagin by vooks: 7:32am On Nov 18, 2014
Let's test those parameters properly.
The Rhapsodies thread,
https://www.nairaland.com/393253/rhapsody-realities-daily-devotional
has 60,596 view and has been on since 5th February 2010 or 1661 days. The average reads per day is 37

The Midas Touch thread,
https://www.nairaland.com/1957135/midas-touch-balanced-approach-biblical
has 26,586 views since 19th October 2014 or 30 days ago. The average reads per day is 886

The Deception of Malachi thread
https://www.nairaland.com/1472237/deception-malachi-3-10-11-devourer
has 12,839 views since 10th October 2013 or 404 days ago. The average read is 31

And finally Bidam's New Testament Prophets...
https://www.nairaland.com/1977834/new-testament-prophets-defined
has 1,175 views since 2nd November or 16 days ago. The average reads per day is 73

SO clearly ROR is among the least impactful and besides, you post soft copies of Rhapsodies which I presume (correct me if am wrong) are not freely available. I wonder what would happen if you shared the entire book at once in its soft. Oyaks already has a sizeable following so you can't possibly claim impact on this basis. Real impact would be non CE members who read your thread ignoring the religious folks who click there for freebies wink

There is no divorce brouhaha, nobody wished it on him and if they did I wonder why they succeeded. But somebody here wished me death by a car crash and my family narrowly escaped death through the same last weekend. SO may be these things work

Emails are subjective, it is your word against anybody's not to mention the brand you carry; CE and probably how active you are on NL and for how long

The point is none of those parameters are proper measure of impact and you would do well not to dwell on the trivial. The other day, your side was up in arms over 'likes'
Gombs:
Good questions

I measure impact from the number of emails I get, plus, the nu ber of views per day. I resurrected the ROR thread and had 6 views per day, today, I get an average of 150views per day plus countless testimonies and prayers. You can view the thread for more details.

That thread has suffered alot of attack, especially in the heat of the divorce brouhaha, now, a deranged NL, has taken my cool gifs there, thinking I'd get angry. He like others will fsde with time, and the ror thread will keep moving. My gifs made alotta folks mad bro! cheesy

Now, that's Impact. The thread has suffered persecution, but stood. Why, God no dey sleep. Same with this thread. Now compare this thread with that of WoF created by a select few.

Gotta run bro, IPPC next session is 7:55am- I am not a pastor o, but Meeeehn, seeing Rev Tom and Evangelist Owase in close proximity is very thrilling. Catch you boys later.

PS: I know who's invading the ror thread, he infact is helping the thread stay up...meaning, more views, more readership, more impact. I am not moved, he'd fade with time. Makes me remember what Paul wrote
[NLT] Philippians 1:17 Those others do not have pure motives as they preach about Christ. They preach with selfish ambition, not sincerely, intending to make my chains more painful to me.
[NLT] Philippians 1:18 But that doesn’t matter. Whether their motives are false or genuine, the message about Christ is being preached either way, so I rejoice. And I will continue to rejoice.

the book is quite compact, a mere 52 pages or so. The author explores the place of baptism of Holy Spirit in a Christian. My brother,
On another thread, somebody claimed that they caught HIV out of not giving Firstfruits. Can you say that anyone is forced to give Firstfruits?

I specifically asked anyone who believes failure to offer Firstfruits can lead to a believer contracting HIV and none came up. Why is this? These teachings are rife in CHURCHES but everybody is embarrassed about them so much that they don't talk about it. Likewise, nobody will admit to their MoG threatening curses on non-tithers but we both know these things are there.

So nobody is FORCED say at gunpoint to tithe but the tithing message presented in churches leave little to imagination; either you tithe or devourers finish you off and you end up in hell. So I'd say there is alot of spiritual blackmail practiced in giving/prosperity messages.
Bidam:
I agree, i do not agree tithers on this forum advocate such, most topics on tithes on this forum are opened by anti tithers and very few by tithers. No one is FORCING a christian to give. If he doesn't want to give that's between him and his God.
