Technology MarketRe: World's Smallest Power Inverter by VULCAN(m): 7:44pm On Apr 25, 2016
@feflo

OK, so my understanding is a 3.5kva Mesh inverter of 4 batteries will cost 440k

Pls i have asked what is the make of battery and what's the backup time?

Also I was told that its good to use stabilizer with the inverter. Is this true?

Thanks

feflo:
2. The appliances i wish to cover are around 2300W, Of which less than half will run constantly. What capacity inverter do I need and how many batteries?

The bolded was what you told me about 2 days ago and that was what i considered in my calculations and quote but in view of the present, your ideal solution will be to go for a 3.5kva 48vdc inverter system and that will cost 440k inclusive of rack and installation if you are in Lagos.
Many thanks sir.
Technology MarketRe: World's Smallest Power Inverter by VULCAN(m): 1:38pm On Apr 25, 2016
@feflo

Do you mean that 2 batteries will carry my 2300W load for 5 hours? Or are you referring just to my fridges load of 820W?
It appears you have taken my fridges as my total load? Pls clarify so I can correctly estimate how many batteries are actually required..

If it turns out i need a couple more batteries what is the added cost.

I'm more comfortable with the 3.5KVa inverter.

Thanks

feflo:
@VULCAN, the quote i gave you is for 2batteries though the pix i uploaded is 4batteries because of the load and that's the request of the customer. The inverter is 24vdc so i did series parallel connection to accommodate four batteries.
MESH inverter is pure sinewave and it comes with display that shows battery voltage and charging percentage, it also shows your load in percentage. For the 3.5kva MESH just add 10k to the 3kva quote, its also 24vdc (2batteries).
With a combined load of 820W and 2batteries, you should get at least 5hours, adding 2 more batts will double the run time.

Those talking about chargers are perhaps people that are using the UPS converted to inverter.

Thanks
Technology MarketRe: World's Smallest Power Inverter by VULCAN(m):
@feflo

Thank you for your detailed answer. You are very thorough.

So its 4 batteries.

Is the Mesh pure sine wave? And what features does it have? Eg. Does it display appliance load so i can make adjustments or does it state if battery is getting low?

Please explain if 3kva takes into account surge as I have 3 fridges with a combined wattage of 820W.

Also what's the quote for 3.5KVA Mesh?

What backup time will the 4 batteries give me? Also of what make are the batteries?

I see people mentioning battery chargers. Isn't the gen supposed to charge the batteries or what am I missing?

Thanks

feflo:
Thanks for your question and interest, i will answer your question with all honesty:
Locally made inverters are good but not all of them, i deal only on MESH inverters because i am personally involved and i know the rigours and research they made to get to where they are today. If you observe, you will see that when i deal with companies, i always use MESH inverters except of course they insist on a particular brand. Also if any customer tells me he wants to use Air Conditioner on the inverter, i always offer locally made inverters because the transformer is made of pure copper and it has a higher load carrying capacity than their foreign counterparts.

The reason why i give one year warranty for the locally made inverter is not far fetched, it gives customer rest of mind and also i know there's no fault that's beyond me, the IC is programmed here locally so there's virtually no fault that can not be handled unlike the foreign ones. If an inverter is good and the installation is good, fire should be the last thing on the mind of the customer, i've been in the inverter business for some years now and i've not received a single case of fire incidence caused by the inverter.

For 2300W, you will need a 3kva 24vdc locally made inverter and that will cost 300k inclusive of a locally made rack and installation ( provided you reside in Lagos). The foreign one will cost more and i can also give a quote for that. i have attached pictures of both the local 3kva and foreign 3.5kva, hope this will help you arrive at a decision.

@feflo

I am amazed and gladdened at your dedication to your work and also to your customers. Kudos.

Kindly clarify some issues for me.

1. I have not heard good reports about locally made inverters. Reports of catching fire and so on,

Yet I notice you provide a 1yr warranty on locally made inverters yet only 6 months on imported. Pls explain why.

2. The appliances i wish to cover are around 2300W, Of which less than half will run constantly. What capacity inverter do I need and how many batteries?

Please respond with a quote so that I can make my decision.

Thanks

I actually wanted to reply u in an undignifying manner, but then, I realise you don't have to know the procedures as to licensing and acquisition of aircraft in the aviation system. I think I can say am a professional as aviation is concerned.

For you to even be given any route to fly, you must bring your aircraft for evaluation and flying time which will be carried out by tHe NCAA officials always called aircraft inspection both at the point of buying and in Nigeria.

But then, let me stop here, I don't expect you to knw anything as far as aviation is concerned

Based on this warped logic; you would build an entire petrol station FIRST, THEN get approval from DPR.

So you expect them to purchase a long haul plane for millions of dollars THEN begin to pursue approval.

When you read some comments, you know the poster is just being mischievous.

JingoOAU:
For you to even fly international routes according to NCAA, you must have proven years of record in the aviation industry by first flying regional, the continent, before flying international....these are the stages in the flight business....

To even imagine that the best aircraft they have is Boeing 737-500 series(classics) which has been phased out in most countries....and same aircraft would now be deplored to fly to other countries??

I wish them well

@aaronson. It is you that is displaying ignorance for all to behold. Same Sex legislation ALWAYS carries penalties against straight people who refuse to provide services to gays.

Pastors are being arrested for refusing to wed gays. Bakers are being fined heavily for refusing to bake cake for gay wedding. That is manifestation of official intolerance.

Freedom of speech, association and religion is being destroyed by gay rights groups world over. In US if your an actor and you say you don't like Homosexuality, your career is over. That is not right.

If they have a right to exist, we that detest it have a right to air our own views. That is only fair.

After Islamic fundamentalists, gay rights campaigners are the most intolerant group in the world. If you don't agree with them you must be hounded out of your job or your business.

The silly guy who posted earlier about live and let live is sympathetic to them. Most likely he has a loved one who is gay but he doesn't wanna tell us.

You still haven't answered his vital question. What happens after ownership is transferred to Nigeria? When nepotism will come into play over who will run the facility. When HR decisions will be based on religious and tribal sentiments. What happens then?

homerac7:
I apologise if I was insultive.

But you need to know that Ajaokuta is a special case of cold war power play, so its problems are complicated. You probably don't know that the US advised us against it after Late JFK initially promised Nigeria a steel plant. Rather, we were advised to import higher grade ores from Brazil rather than processing lower grade ores we have at uneconomical costs. But Russia gave us alternative, that alternative is what we are battling with today.

Then I'm not aware of the contract model for Ajaokuta, but this nuclear one is expressly indicated as BOOT. So unless you are sure Ajaokuta was BOOT too, then I see no basis of comparison at all sir.
PhonesRe: Android, Anyone? Part II by VULCAN(m): 8:23am On Jun 02, 2015
Hello

My Elephone G5 (Android 4.4.2) went bonkersyesterday. It’s been giving minor signs for about two weeks but yesterday it went over the edge. It opens, closes or clicks on any app, widget or any icon at the top of the page. For example it clicks open the photo of any whatsapp contact at the uppermost part of the page, it also continuously pinch zooms in and out of my phones home page or any webpage I’m on. It constantly closes the keyboard so I had to type this on my laptop.

Initially I thought I had a virus so I scanned with kaspersky and got an adware alert which I deleted but that changed nothing. I then uninstalled the launcher and the last two apps I had installed. No difference; so I did a factory reset and it was calm for a bit but within 20 mins it started all over again.

If I leave the phone alone it gradually dies down but within a few minutes of use the madness starts up slowly again. I have noticed that it gets worse when I am charging the phone with charger so I stick to the USB port on my laptop.

Pls can any guru help

Thanks

I want to congratulate jpphillips, 989900 and others who have some REAL knowledge of what happens behind the scenes in the Nigerian downstream oil and gas sector. You have responded well to the OP's weak attempt to convince us of the need to "immediately" remove The Subsidy.

Having read almost every post here I gleaned a few things about the OP

1. He is completely ignorant of the workings of our downstream sector. To load his first post with petrol price figures from 2012 was his first albatross. It proved that he was working from a predetermined answer back to the question. More evidence of this is his over reliance on info from Google. If ur fully involved in a thing when you talk people will know.

2. He has no form of understanding of the causes or potentially destructive results of galloping inflation in a country that is import dependent. Relative to its size Nigeria produces nothing- whether goods or services. The City of London props up the entire British economy via its financial sector. Man, for now oil is all we got. Three times or so he says that an increase in petrol price from N87 to N220 will have no effect on Nigerians. Obviously he avoided Macroeconomics class in school.

3. He is a very callous being. Anybody who can't afford to run their car at N220 should park it according to him.

4. He is very deceptive. He skillfully ignored the fact that EVERY thriving Western economy has subsidies(in one form or another) in place for the betterment of the lives of their people.

5. He is bereft of any deep thinking on this matter.
I might have been swayed if he had a superior strategy and tactics to make his immediate subsidy removal work but all he does is present emotional pleas about whether we want our unborn kids to suffer. Beer parlour arguments I must say. Nothing of substance just fluff in his arguments. Pity.

My prayer for you is that God will not permit your type position of National Influence because you're obviously too immature to take us to the next level.

Let me stop here for now. But before I continue I would like peeps to present here some more workable ideas (that dont involve the destruction of the masses)for our enlightenment.

@ellaV

You are giving yourself an unnecessary burden. In the art of getting things done you don't waste time with those who are diametrically opposed to your objective.

For e.g. Neither Tinubu or Buhari wasted resources trying to change the minds of the SS and SE. They went ahead with their rather brilliant and strategic plan to unseat a current president. Although Buhari campaigned in parts of the East he didn't trouble himself about their lackluster reception.

So don't spend time trying to convince naysayers. Spend time convincing the undecided and strengthening the believers.

I am a Rivers man and I fully support Biafra and us being a part of it. The alternative is to remain in Nigeria which is to be continually exploited. The few Niger Deltans that still talk about the Igbo domination of Biafra are not students of History. The non-Igbo people of SS and SE of 2015 are not the same as those of 1967. Do you think any Igbo man can intimidate Asari Dokubo or Tom Polo? Or to cross over to the non militants. Can any Igbo man intimidate Donald Duke, Ben Murray Bruce or Akpabio?

Biafra will rise again. This time to fall no more.
