jovie50: Hello tech geeks in the house! I tried connecting my wi-fi( W-lan) on my BB curve 8520 to a cyber cafe, the connection was successful. But it generated a code(about 8-digits) and asking me to input the code into my wireless router, but i don't understand what it means! Pls i need ur help out there. How do i go about that? Pls, a step by step guide will be greatly appreciated!

chineduace: With the new over priced and over hyped BB10, i hope BB lovers know that BIS is not supported on this new flagship from BB. Supsequently it will be migrated to older OS eventually. Nigeria holds the leading market in BB globally. My analysis is that if BIS goes away and since RIM is dead due to name change then BB will follow suit since Nigerians are addicted to data compression and almost unlimited data via BIS. Well i think it's time to move on.
Iphone still operates a closed system and Android is open to everything and everyone. So i guess it's Android all the way. Well this is just my opinion, you are entitled to yours.

With Tecno N3 them the mb stop I decided to subscribe for the 1200 plan after I subscribe by texting BSM to 440 I got a message from airtel which says "your airtel complete blackberry plan subscription was successful"then on my phone the 3G network is constant even up till now as I type. is there some setting I am not doing right pls help my 1GB plan I have been unable to use it my phone is not rooted

But there is a saying that every good thing has its own disadvantages. Here are some issues one might experience when upgrading particularly for Nigerians.


1. BBM 7 requires blackberry ID. Don’t upgrade if you are having issues with your blackberry ID. Make sure your ID is active before you attempt upgrading. You won’t be able to use your BBM till you sort out the ID issue which could be really frustrating. It’s happening to a friend right now. - the only people i expect to have issues would be those using a stolen BB


2. Make sure you back up your contacts both remotely and local backup.


3. Backup feature from BBM is lost in this version, as such, all back up for BBM 7 have to be done with a system and desktop manager. - This is untrue...your point 2 in the upper section is the answer. backup is even much easier in BBM7 because you dont have to remember to back up, its done for you automatically

The company’s new CEO, Marissa Mayer, has a lot of challenges to address for the former king of the internet.
One of the nice features of Yahoo! Messenger was its interoperability with Windows Live. The instant messaging application also has the ability to handle calls (Yahoo! Voice Phone), video conferencing and group messaging.
All of those features are going away in just a couple weeks. Yahoo! announced that MessengerPublic Chat Rooms will close. Yahoo! Messenger Pingbox, which is an integrated social network and blog tool will also go the way of the Dodo.
Perhaps the biggest hit is the interoperability with Windows Live – on December 14th, Microsoft buddies will still appear in the user’s contact list, but messaging will not be possible.
Finally, Yahoo! Voice Phone In and Phone Out will be closed out on January 30, 2013. The service has a branded landline component as well, served by Jajah. Effective immediately, users will not be able to add funds to their accountsand current balances will be refunded.
This service was effectively a competitor to Skype and Messenger-to-Messenger calls will still be possible, but it is pretty clear Yahoo! tipped its hat and is bowing out of that space.
If you use the Yahoo! Messenger app on Android or iOS, these feature cuts remove a bit of functionality.
A couple features that appear to remain are free international SMS texts can be sent to cell phone users in the several countries around the world (US, Philippines, Vietnam, India,Indonesia, Malaysia, Canada, Pakistan, Kuwait and Thailand), and Facebook support is still in place.

Which type of person buys a $3, uses it, but does not know how to install an application? In your experience is it possible to boot an android and miss that kind of thing? Presumably he know how to browse the internet and use nairaland, but cannot figure out playstore in front of his nose?
