PhonesRe: Airtel Adjusted Their Data Bundle by walcolm(m): 6:22am On Nov 21, 2012
Tinyemeka: I was led to believe that one could you Airtel BIS on any mobile device. I bought a new line, registered it, loaded it with airtime and sent the short code for BIS subscription using my Samsung Galaxy. My airtime was debited immediately and I started browsing. Not knowing that they were instead, charging my main account. Network disconnected immediately the airtime was exhausted. Now I can't browse with the line. angry

Is there anything I'm not doing right?
i have been doing what you described above without any issues for months now without any issues or loss of airtime. did you get a confirmation that BIS has been activated on your line before you started browsing?
PhonesRe: Pls Assist I Cannot Browse With Bold 3 And I Dont Want To Do BIS Yet by walcolm(m): 6:13am On Nov 21, 2012
note that if you do as described above, your airtime credit will be charged for your browsing

make sure you don't come here crying that your service provider is stealing your money

PhonesRe: What Do You Know About 4G Technology And Mobitel? Read On To Find Out !!! by walcolm(m): 8:17am On Nov 20, 2012
i'm all for healthy competition that gives the end user the best possible value for money.

i'm happy to listen to mobitel pitch if it will give me better value for my money but your post here is the first mobitel advert i'm ever seeing.
i have been using swiftng for about a year now and i was seeing their advert long before i decided to go with them
PhonesRe: Can You Use T9 As A Text Input On Your Phone? by walcolm(m): 8:11am On Nov 20, 2012
trae_z: Even on qwerty keyboards predictive text is still a blessing than typing every letter stroke by stroke.
yep, although its not called T9 on devices with qwerty keyboards
PhonesRe: HELP! Any Samsung Galaxy SIII User, Enter Abeg by walcolm(m): 8:07am On Nov 20, 2012
@OP, why dont you start by reading the manual
PhonesRe: Samsung Galaxy III Vs Galaxy Note II by walcolm(m): 7:49am On Nov 20, 2012
Which ever of the two you guys decide to get, please note that the Gorilla Glass 2 screen does not hold up to drops very well. get a Solid case.

most people like the FLIP case that Samsung introduced but believe me, that case will not protect the screen if you drop the phone from anything more than 3ft off the ground
PhonesRe: Can U Use A Stolen Blackberry Handset? by walcolm(m): 7:45am On Nov 20, 2012
Tonyblinky: I bought it 20k,its quite a large sum, what if the person refuse to reimburse me?
i understand what you mean...Nigerians are too emotional about things and we tend not to think things through properly at times.

all that said, you can still make the effort to reach out to the owner once you are able to identify the person and see how he/she reacts.

my BB was stolen in January and not long after the PIN became active again. i have kept the user as a contact on BBM and i've not hinted him that the BB is mine

Just do what you can as a responsible person and let posterity take care of the rest

mavinc4u: A child cannot be better than his master as an old woman would not be new to a dance she is used to.Thanks for checking on the post
looolllll...it doesn't matter if mobitel is better, all that matters is the person making money

besides, this is not a mobitel proprietary technology, so your claim of being better is not valid.
PhonesRe: Get Your Blackberry Paid Premium Fantastic Applications Here by walcolm(m): 12:28pm On Nov 19, 2012
another scam thread...why can't the mods on this forum do more to prevent this type of things
PhonesRe: How To Pay For My Whatsapp by walcolm(m): 12:26pm On Nov 19, 2012
dont fall for any scam. i know there's another thread where this same issues was discussed. keep using your whatsapp. i can guarantee the app will move your expiration date forward by itself especially if you're very active
PhonesRe: Amazing Things You Can Do With Samsung Phone Or iPhone by walcolm(m): 12:24pm On Nov 19, 2012
ebukaeze00: you are not an ios guy....only smart people use iOS ..if you wanna do a factory unlock for any iphone running on AT&T even if its the new iphone 5...why not holla at me and get it done for an affordable price

BB PIN - 290BBA54
ref the bold phrase in your post, you are most definitely wrong....iOS was designed with dummies in mind. anybody from a 5 year old to a 100+yr senile old person can use the iOS. its the android that was designed for and used mainly by smart people

sorry to burst your self made bubble cheesy
PhonesRe: Blackberry Blacklisted : Please Read Before Buying Any Blackberry Phone by walcolm(m): 12:20pm On Nov 19, 2012
mr uncle samtech,

i think the reason why some people have an issue with your post is summed up in this excerpt

Police case information:
Case Number = e.g. CAS 90520030
Police Case Timestamp = current date/time
Police Station = e.g. SHAMBLOCK POLICE ST

An ITC number is needed to open a police case and a police case number will be needed for insurance purposes.
Only you can blacklist your cellphone. If a third party attempts to blacklist a cellphone, the SIM card will be locked and the unit will only be blacklisted once available.

the stress of getting a police report, how many people insure their phones etc...looks to me like you copied and pasted something for wikipedia that was written based on how things work in more developed countries

most people are aware of what they need to do to block their phones when its lost but the nigerian system makes it a venture in futility so what people just do is block their sim and move on
PhonesRe: >>>HELP<<< Galaxy S2 Front Glass Damaged by walcolm(m): 12:12pm On Nov 19, 2012
it is definitely replaceable but it could be expensive.

i have cracked my GSIII but i am hesitant to take it to any Nigerian GSM engineer even if the person works at the Samsung centre
PhonesRe: Anti Theft For Mobile by walcolm(m): 12:10pm On Nov 19, 2012
Donseaun: hahahahaha..... dem don spoil the guy 1k5 business sha
there are lots of free and paid applications on appstores that do this.

i'm sure the guy is just trying to hustle people with a cracked version of one of those paid apps which leaves the mugu who gives him money holding the bag. you can get updates and if the developer finds you out and blocks the app on your device, you're left with no app and no money back angry

i really wish moderators will limit this type of crap on this forum. people should not be allowed to come on here with schemes unless they have cleared it with the moderators and are genuine

pDude: And RIM introduces another software to further repress the already docile minds of the Nigerian youth.

Smh sad
loollll, looks like its your mind that's docile...RIM has not released another software...you should take time to read and understand before you type out mindless posts grin
PhonesRe: Blackberry Introduces BBM Voice Calls: Lets You Call BBM Contacts Free! by walcolm(m): 12:03pm On Nov 19, 2012
4llerbuntu: This feature "innovation" is dead on arrival. NO TELCO ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD WILL ENABLE THIS.

na wetin remain for dem na? BBM works with BIS and not bundled data on blackberries

unless as i suspect is going to be the case anyway, with the release of BB10 this idea of unlimited data through BIS will be a thing of the past.

warrhell, its not like d feature is novel, afterall nimbuzz and skype will do this. but that u will pay pittance and then dump all ur phone calls on the telco's data pipes for free? u gotta be joking
VOIP is not new and telcos all over the world dont have any major issues with it so i dont see why it should be an issue now that its added to BBM.
PhonesRe: Blackberry Introduces BBM Voice Calls: Lets You Call BBM Contacts Free! by walcolm(m): 12:00pm On Nov 19, 2012
dmcdad: Op said over wifi which means it can't be done on data or bis... Is that not so @op?
thats is correct. its currently a wifi only feature but i expect it to move to cellular just like facetime on iOS

PhonesRe: Can You Use T9 As A Text Input On Your Phone? by walcolm(m): 11:04am On Nov 19, 2012
i was able to grab the concept when it was introduced in phones selling in naija back in 2002 and i use if its available on the phone. i have moved on to smartphones with qwerty keyboards generally.

if you get the concept, there's no way you wont like it
PhonesRe: Can U Use A Stolen Blackberry Handset? by walcolm(m): 11:01am On Nov 19, 2012
yep, its a stolen blackberry. most of the second hand BBs being sold anywhere in naija are stolen.

if you didn't pay a lot for it, you can return it to the owner and tell him or her to re-imburse you if he or she will agree
PhonesRe: Can You Use T9 As A Text Input On Your Phone? by walcolm(m): 9:39am On Nov 16, 2012
trae_z: for the life of me i can't get predictive text...xt9 to work on my Samsung Galaxy Y Pro Duos B5512 (GT-B5512).
Abeg make una educate me. I'm lost!
T9 works on phones that don't have full qwerty keyboard. those phones with about 12 keys or less and 2 or 3 alphabets on a single key.

if your phone uses a full keyboard, the app that predicts what you're trying to type is not called T9 and is usually more sophisticated
PhonesRe: How Can I Delete Contacts From My BB Without The Contacts Knowing? by walcolm(m): 9:11am On Nov 16, 2012
you can change your BB but exclude the person when you are reloading your BB contact. that way, you old BB pin will show on the person's phone but they cant reach you

why don't you just walk to any Etisalat friendship centre around you. they will be able to resolve it for you
PhonesRe: Wifi Hot Spot On Bb by walcolm(m): 2:25pm On Nov 14, 2012
riviera_nights: As far as I know, hotspot works with only airtel BIS.care to tell us how I can get it to work with etisalat glo and mtn bis?
that's because its only Airtel that allows you use your BIS data allowance anyhow you like. wifi hotspotting is also not disabled on Etisalat but it doesn't use your BIS data allowance. Etisalat charges you directly for the it. once your phone has the feature and you have credit on your Etisalat line, it will work but the rates are high and you will notice your credit is wiped out within a few minutes. i believe Glo and MTN have not enabled that feature on their BIS network

Lexusgs430: I would love to argue with you, but there is no point. I repeat again, hotspot function does not work with your BIS subscription, but only with a data bundle attached.
there's no shame in learning something you didn't know. wifi hotspotting works with BB and BIS that is why it is a feature of BBs but it is at the discretion of the network provider to determine how they want to charge for it.

Maybe you should consult riviera_nights to tell you more about it
PhonesRe: What The Heck Is Wrong With Etisalat's BIS?!!!!! by walcolm(m): 1:33pm On Nov 13, 2012
inspbado: @walcom thanks bro. I don't really think it's my phone that's got the problem. The thing is, I get the edge connection only in the early hours of the morning and very late at night. Ie btw 7am-10am and 10pm and 2am. Apart from these times,I hardly get a connection on my phone and where the connection is even there I cannot browse or access any application on the phone(except my BBM, that is). I use a curve3, by the way
for BIS to work, you must have data connection and you know if the signal shows 'EDGE', '3G' or 'H+' (note the capital letters)

if you are seeing 'edge', '3g' it means you don't have data connection
PhonesRe: What The Heck Is Wrong With Etisalat's BIS?!!!!! by walcolm(m): 11:42am On Nov 13, 2012
inspbado: Hello guys, I'm having connectivity problems with my Etisalat BIS. Going to 2months now,I have been finding it difficult to get a decent edge or 3G connection on my phone. I don't know if it's a general problem(maybe due to the upgrading of their facilities) or it's my phone acting up. So people I'll like to know whether anyone out there is also experiencing the same problem, cos I'm really thinking of switching to Airtel o!!!
i have been using Etisalat BIS without any problem for more than 6months back to back. i have travelled to several locations in naija and it has worked without any problem

are you sure there's nothing wrong with your device?

if you provide more info about your device, maybe we can help you
PhonesRe: Wifi Hot Spot On Bb by walcolm(m): 11:39am On Nov 13, 2012
Lexusgs430: Hotspot function does not work with BIS. You will have to purchase a separate data bundle to activate hotspot function. Once purchased, connectivity is a doddle!!!!
I disagree with you again

Wifi Hotspotting works perfectly well on BBs and BIS unless blocked by the network. are you sure you're not the one arguing about things you don't know...(referencing your post on another thread)
PhonesRe: My Phone Was Stolen Yesterday, How Do I Get My Phone Back by walcolm(m): 11:37am On Nov 13, 2012
Lexusgs430: No point arguing matters you do not know. I know of 4 people that had stolen blackberry devices retrieved, it would involve time + money, with both factors available, it will surely be retrieved.
Maybe you should read my post again and think through your quoted post above vis-a-vis my own post
