PoliticsRe: Killings: We Don’t Have Enough Soldiers To Guard Every M’belt Village, Says FG by waldigit: 9:44am On May 18, 2018
Jazzlite:
The Federal Government has said the country’s military manpower is not enough to secure every village in the Middle Belt region in order to stop incessant killings occasioned by herders and farmers’ clashes in the area.

It has, however, mandated the National Emergency Management Authority to rebuild villages in Benue State and ensure they are not far from one another.

The Federal Government also said that the farmers and herdsmen’s clashes which had led to loss of lives and property were caused by the influx of weapons into the country through the trans-Saharan routes.

The Minister of Defence, Mansur Dan-Ali, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Audu Ogbeh, and the Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau, stated this on Thursday at a town hall meeting in Abuja on the farmers and herders’ clashes.

The meeting was convened by the Ministry of Information and Culture.

Ogbeh said as was the case in Argentina, Pakistan and Namibia, there were ongoing plans to generate electricity from cow dung when the government finally put the reserves in operation.

Speaking on the N10bn to be given to troubled states, the agriculture minister said the money would be used “to rebuild the devastated villages as all the Internally Displaced Persons in Benue State wanted to return home as quickly as possible.”

Ogbeh added, “I was with the Vice-President, Yemi Osinbajo, in Benue State on Tuesday and the money announced is not only for Benue, which is apparently facing this crisis.

“The crisis in the IDP camps is very severe. Lots of women and children want to return home, but there are no homes. So, the idea is to rehabilitate the homes as quickly as possible to let them return home.

“Two, NEMA is redesigning the settlements in the villages to bring more communities together so that people don’t live too far apart. Otherwise, we don’t have enough security to guard every settlement. Unless you have units of 10 or 11 soldiers to guard each village, there is no way that the current security network can cover the needs of villagers who may be attacked in the afternoon or night. That was one of the things we studied on Tuesday.

“Three, we have to do everything we can to end these pastoral movements, slowly and in the large scale later. We have 415 reserves. Some have been encroached upon while others are still there. We have to provide water and grass, and protect the herdsmen from cattle rustlers, who are also Fulani.

“The Minister of Interior and I are working on agro-rangers being trained by the military to guard these places so that there can be peace within those communities.

“We can also then do what has been done in Pakistan, Argentina, and even Namibia here, by using the cow dung to generate electricity. These things we have designed and we are raising funds to start them.”

The convener of the meeting and the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said the clashes between farmers and herdsmen were connected with “demographic, environmental, social and economic dynamics and it will be a distortion to attribute the clashes to ethnic and religious reasons.”

Mohammed said, “In 1963, Nigeria’s population was 52 million. Today, it is about 200 million, yet the land space has remained the same. Against this background, the contest for land and other natural resources is bound to be keener, and the friction, more.

“There are various measures that have been taken by the Federal Government to stop these senseless killings and curtail the criminality that has fuelled the clashes. The Nigerian Air Force has deployed its Special Forces to the newly-established 23 Quick Response Wing in Nguroje, Taraba State. The NAF also has a 1,000-man Special Intervention Force deployed in Makurdi to degrade bandits and criminals in Benue and Nasarawa states.

“In the last two weeks, the Police Intelligence Response Team and the Police Special Forces, whose work cut across Benue, Nasarawa and Taraba states, arrested 11 suspects and recovered 10 AK-47 rifles and other firearms from them. These are just some of the arrests made by the security forces in recent days.”

The Defence Minister, Dan-Ali, said President Muhammadu Buhari’s reference to the herdsmen being trained in Libya was in relation to the infiltration of weapons into the country through the trans-Saharan routes.

He said, “There are no foreigners such as Chadians and Libyans coming into Nigeria. What we mean is that the crises in Libya motivated the coming in of arms and ammunition into the country through the trans-Saharan routes. This is the situation. To handle this, the Federal Government has set up a committee whereby a commission to tackle small arms is being looked into.”

Also, the Minister of Interior, Dambazau, said, “As a result of the crises in Libya, quite a huge number of weapons have found themselves into the country. It is not just in Nigeria, but the whole of the sub-region of the Economic Community of West African States.

“We have organised, in conjunction with ECOWAS, a conference on the movement of people and services. The whole idea is to control the movement of weapons. There is also the concept of biometrics to screen those people who enter Nigeria.”

Some of the delegates at the meeting, including the Christian Association of Nigeria and the Miyetti Allah Breeders Association, advised the government to work on establishing ranches, noting that that was the 21st century practice, and would guarantee lasting peace and security.

Buhari meets Army Chief on security

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday met behind closed doors with the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The meeting centred on efforts being made by the Army authorities to restore peace to troubled parts of the country.

Buhari disclosed this in a message he posted on his verified Twitter handle, @MBuhari, after the meeting.

The President said his administration’s commitment to peace and security of the country was total.

Buhari wrote, “I received a briefing from the Chief of Army Staff this (Thursday) afternoon.

“The Army recently established a new battalion in Birnin-Gwari, Kaduna State, in addition to other deployments in troubled parts of the country.

“Our commitment to the peace and security of Nigeria is total.”

After the meeting, Buratai told State House correspondents that the Nigerian Army would collaborate with other security agencies to dislodge criminals who operate in the Birnin Gwari axis along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway.

He said concern over unabated killings of citizens was what informed the setting up of an army battalion in the area.

He said, “We will continue to cooperate with other security agencies that are charged with the responsibility of securing our country and the deployment of a unit there is quite strategic. It is in line with the Nigerian Army order of battle that was approved in 2016.

“We have to implement all of them to achieve the strategic objective of the government. This is essentially why we have to put the battalion there and to work with other security agencies.”

Buratai assured stakeholders that the ongoing Operation Last Hold by troops would further consolidate the army’s achievements against insurgents in the North-East.

He said the operation would culminate in the return of the Internally Displaced Persons to their communities.

“Rest assured that Operation Last Hold will further consolidate our achievements so far but we hope the IDPs will go back to their communities and pick up their lives again.

“I think that is the aim of this our Operation Last Hold. It is a consolidation of the overall successes that we have achieved in the North-East,” Buratai said.

Bandits, herdsmen kill 13 in Kaduna, Benue

But in spite of this assurance, 10 persons were reportedly killed by suspected bandits at Birnin-Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Wednesday evening while three others, the police said, were killed on Thursday morning by Fulani herdsmen in communities in Logo Local Government Area of Benue State.

Scores were also said to be seriously injured in the Kaduna attack that took place in four villages in Gwari council.

But the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mukhtar Aliyu, said only seven persons were killed while five were injured in the attack, which he said, occurred on Wednesday night.

He said the bandits invaded Mashigi, Dakwaro, Sabongida villages on Wednesday night, shooting at anyone in sight and burning down houses and farmlands in the affected villages.

Aliyu, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, said the Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Austin Iwar, had ordered the immediate deployment of mobile police in the communities.

The villages raided by the bandits included Mashigi, Dakwaro, Sabongida and one other village close to Dakwaro.

The attack, according to another source, lasted for more than three and half hours.

He added that the bandits, who rode on motorbikes, killed people, burnt houses and foodstuffs in the villages they attacked.

The source added that the 10 bodies of those killed had been recovered from the bush while the volunteers and hunters as well as security operatives were still combing the bush for the missing persons.

A member of the Birnin-Gwari Vanguard for Security and Good Governance identified as Mallam Umar, said so far 10 bodies of the people killed had been recovered, while many were unaccounted for.

In the Benue attack, three persons were reportedly killed on Thursday morning by Fulani herdsmen in communities in Logo Local Government Area of the state.

According to a community leader in the council, who is also former media aide to erstwhile governor of the state, Joseph Anawah, the attackers invaded Tse Mue, Torka, Mbagba, Toryem and Ifer all in Ukem Beragya and Gaambe_ Tiev communities in Logo LGA around 6am.

The Commissioner of Police Benue State Command, Fatai Owoseni, confirmed the attack, saying that three people lost their lives during the attack.

“While l was at the security council meeting today (Thursday), l received a report that suspected herdsmen attacked people in Timbe village along the Anyiin – Wukari Federal Highway, killing three people. But men of the Rapid Response Squad have been drafted to the areas to forestall further attack,” Owoseni said.

Also, Governor Samuel Ortom confirmed the attack during a courtesy call on him by the Minister of State II for Works, Transport and Energy, Suleiman Zarma.

The governor said that “there was killing this morning in Logo.”

Today I had a terrible dream about rapture, it happened. But it was not the way Bible told the story. It was like a war front, hunger everywhere, fear everywhere, people where missing, houses burned down.

I saw a very big provision company when I went out in search of food, it represents Satan, you have to agree to their terms and conditions after which you pack provisions as many as you wished. I didn't care about their condition, I just needed the provision. I took as many as I can because my children are starving at home.

On my way back, I saw what looks like a church, its represents Christ, people inside it were putting on white garment. I joined d que when I requested what it was, they told me it was where raptures soul should be like they where giving people second chance. When it got to my point I cried they should slow me bring my kids but they declined and told me it was heavenly race that I shouldn't bother about them. I was prayed for and delivered and instantly, the pack of provision in my hand disappeared.

I joined them, I was given white garment which I put on and rubber hair style was given me I immediately. I could see a woman I know that attends watchman, she was their with her kids, her name is Mma Ebuka. I cried my eyes out, I was mourning and wailing this is because I have failed my kids. I prayed for a second chance before I woke up.

I woke up drenched in my own sweat like some one high fever and my heart beat throbbing like a drum, for a menuite, I didn't know what to say but I just prayed for God's grace to remember the dream. I'm still confused about the message. God help me.
The message is very simple, if rapture comes today, you shall miss it but shall make it to heaven by passing through tribulation. But your children shall not be ready to pay the price of tribulation.

The wife of Mount Zion President and co-founder of Mount Zion Faith Ministries, Gloria Bamiloye, has given her opinion on one of the most controversial topics in Christendom – The issue on whether Christain women should wear trousers or not.
According to the Evangelist Gloria Bamiloye, wearing of trousers cannot actually be considered wrong, but as a believer, it might not be portraying the woman in the right way to unbelievers.

The whole hue and cry about trouser for women has to do with cultural perception, orientation and exposure of holder of view. Many Africans don't bother to do detailed research on whatever view they hold. Many may be shock to know that trousers is originally female dress. Copied. May be helpful

A thread on why PREPAID METER being distributed TO ALL may never be achieved in Nigeria.
After the Nigerian Police, Nigerian Electricity distribution companies are next on the list when it comes to corruption. This has been in existence from time immemorial, just like barracks, many government have come and gone but the deep rooted corruption in the system remains
In April 2016, I moved in to my current apartment. The apartment was still connected to an old meter and there was an outstanding payment of about N385,000.00 to be paid.

This wasn't revealed to me before I made payment for the rent, as usual (that's how they all do)
This became a worry and an absolute headache.

I asked the landlord why it was so and she made me understand that the apartment was not in use for 5years.

I asked how come it wasn't reported to NEPA so they'd stop the billing, she gave me a copy of the letter she wrote to them
So I took the matter up, wrote several mails to Eko electricity company and the matter was on for 11months, note that in the space of this 11 months, I never got a monthly bill lesser than 24,000.00

You want to ask if I have a factory in my apartment? No I don't.
So it extended from wanting the company to zerorize the ridiculous outstanding balance in the billing account to fighting and contesting the outrageous billing system which do not in any way represent my true electricity consumption and wanting a Prepaid Meter

The battle began.
After several exchange of mails betweens myself and Eko Electric and no solution was forthcoming, I moved the matter to NERC, the regulatory body for all electricity distribution companies in Nigeria.

I filed a petition against Ekedp and the undertaking in charge of my area.
Lo and behold, after three days from the petition submission to NERC, I got a call from the marketing manager for my area pleading for me to make myself available to allow them come to my house and take inventory of the electrical appliances I use.

NERC is working yeah? Right.
A staff of the Ekedp came to take the inventory and at the end of the computations, we calculated and multiplied each appliance by the estimated units they consume per day and multiplied by 31days.

Recall I said I never got a bill less than 24k in a month?
Then we arrived at a figure that even the Eko electric staff who came to take the inventory opened his mouth and couldn't close it.

What I should be billed based on having 24hour light per day(which is not even possible) in 31 days was 4,800.00

I almost ran mad.
I took a copy of the report, scanned it and attached it to my next petition to NERC.

At this point, the marketing manager attached to my undertaking had started calling and begging me to stop the petitions.

That they could all get sacked if matters gets escalated further.
Then in September 2017, after all the troubles and how I never got tired if pursuing the issue, I got a mail from Eko electricity to come with some required documents in order to fill a form for a PREPAID METER.

I went there and did as they requested

At Last.
On 27 November 2017, I was on leave.
I was at my gate then this Alfa looking guy was parading and trying to see house number on the fence. My instinct told me to ask if he was asking for Ayo, then he said yes

He was the prepaid meter installer, he was with my new prepaid meter
I also recall that before the whole issue started, I was discouraged severally that I can never be given prepaid meter due to the outstanding balance on the billing account, I paid no mind to all the people that said that and went ahead with my case.
I got the Prepaid meter for FREE. After a week, bill was brought and boom, outstanding balance has been cleared from 385,000.00 to zero balance.

How did I achieve this?
I mean I didn't pay a dime to anyone and I never for once bribed my way in all my dealings.
I achieved this simply because;

1. I knew my right.
2. I wouldn't settle for mediocrity
3. I never stopped pushing even after several months and it seemed unachievable
4. I was ready to take the matter up anywhere
5. I was informed.
Now imagine how many people are out there who don't even know how to go about such tedious and draining process.

I learnt that a lot of people even paid as much as 40k to get the prepaid meter. Something that's supposed to be free.
Since the prepaid meter was installed in November 27 2017, I have not exhausted the 303 units that came with it which is calculated to be 7,200.00

And I still have 140units left to use.

That's over four (4) months now
Do you now see why these people will never allow dream of every homes having a prepaid meter become a reality?

Because such development will block all holes where the electricity distribution corrupt members of staff perpetrate their fraudulent activities and corruption from.
They know that they will be forced to give light more in order to generate revenue and will not be able to charge people outrageously as they are currently doing and remitting the proceeds of their criminal act to their pockets.

Stand up and Fight for what is your right.
Prepaid meter is your right, fight for it to the latter.

If you believe that your monthly electricity bill do not represent your consumption, make a case.

If you're in Lagos, Ikeja Electricity company and Eko electricity company are there for you.

If they fail, involve NERC.
That will be all, for now.

We are the only one who can free ourselves from the oppression. The source of oppression and corruption is from the state. But the ultimate power belong to the people. 4.A digital vote of no confidence shall be passed on them similar to what you do on forum "likes" and on other social media.

6.Accused may have option of appeal and they may be warned if majority deem it fit.
7.It therefore follows that if you found guilty and sentenced to black list section, you are barred from holding political office for a period of time ranging from 4 year to infinity.

Science/TechnologyRe: Physicist, Stephen Hawkins Is Dead by waldigit: 7:01am On Mar 14, 2018
agbotikuyo:
World renowned physicist Stephen Hawking has died at the age of 76.

He died peacefully in his home in Cambridge in the early hours of Wednesday, his family said.

He was known for his work with black holes and relativity, and wrote several popular science books including A Brief History of Time.

"We are deeply saddened that our beloved father passed away today," his children said.

At the age of 22 Stephen Hawking was given only a few years to live after being diagnosed with a rare form of motor neurone disease.

The illness left him wheelchair-bound and largely unable to speak except through a voice synthesiser.

In a statement his children, Lucy, Robert and Tim, said: "He was a great scientist and an extraordinary man whose work and legacy will live on for many years."

They praised his "courage and persistence" and said his "brilliance and humour" inspired people across the world.

"He once said, 'It would not be much of a universe if it wasn't home to the people you love.' We will miss him forever."

Prof Hawking was the first to set out a theory of cosmology as a union of relativity and quantum mechanics.

He also discovered that black holes leak energy and fade to nothing - a phenomenon that would later become known as Hawking radiation.

Factfile: Stephen Hawking

Born 8 January 1942 in Oxford, England
Earned place at Oxford University to read natural science in 1959, before studying for his PhD at Cambridge
By 1963, was diagnosed with motor neurone disease and given two years to live
Outlined his theory that black holes emit "Hawking radiation" in 1974
Published his book A Brief History of Time in 1988, which has sold more than 10 million copies
His life story was the subject of the 2014 film The Theory of Everything, starring Eddie Redmayne
line
The scientist gained popularity outside the academic world and appeared in several TV shows including The Simpsons, Red Dwarf and The Big Bang Theory.

He was portrayed in both TV and film - recently by Eddie Redmayne in the film The Theory of Everything which charted his rise to fame and relationship with his first wife Jane.

In saner climes this selfless revelation by Sani is enough to start a revolution.

But no,Nigerians are docile and suffering from Stockholm syndrome.

A country that has the highest percentage of poor people on earth has the most expensive cost of government.

I am not wrong to have given up on Nigeria.

THE LAND OF THE RISING SUN MUST SET FORTH AT DAWN
Comrade, don't give up! If you believe God cannot make mistake, then you are here to make a change happen. That's your divine purpose.

Why I revealed how much we earn as senators – Shehu Sani
March 12, 2018

Kemi Busari

Shehu Sani, the Nigerian senator who revealed that he and his colleagues receive N13.5 million as running cost monthly, has explained why he exposed his colleagues.

Mr. Sani in an interview with BBC said the payment is a ‘moral issue.’

“I decided to burst it open. It was a moral issue,” he said.

He said that the National Assembly is being run with little accountability about how the money is spent.

He wants the illegal payment to be scrapped so that the legislative arm of government will be attractive only to people who can contribute ideas.

“The National Assembly is one of the most non-transparent organs of government. It pricked my conscience and I decided to burst the bubble and open the National Assembly to public scrutiny.

“If the expenses payment system was ended then parliament would only be attractive to people who contribute ideas,” he told BBC.

Mr. Sani had in an interview with TheNews revealed that he and his colleagues receive N13.5 million monthly as “running cost”, aside a N750, 000 monthly consolidated salary and allowances which they also receive.

Mr. Sani’s revelation is the first by a lawmaker from the Senate since the clamour by Nigerians for a full disclosure of lawmakers’ earnings.

The revelation has sparked widespread anger among Nigerians who had always criticised the lawmakers for arbitrarily allocating jumbo pay to themselves.

God will punish these politicians
God punish the useless twitter senator
God punish whoever did this to the Nigerian youths
More than 30% of our annual budget goes for the maintenance of these thieves both in the red and blue chambers...

In a sane country... The youths ought to have occupied the streets until such allowances are reviewed ...

There are only two tribes in Nigeria
They masses and the elites
The former needs to wake up... The country is going to the dogs
Point of correction youth in a saner country gives them mass burial.

I was fortunate to be in a meeting with Jimi Agbaje yesterday. This the course of the discourse, he made us realize that people join politics for two reasons. It is either for SELF or SERVICE.

Without meaning to be unfair to anyone, we all know that most of our current politicians are there for SELF.

Be it known now to you that they dont care how you fare.

The major problem of Nigerian politics is settling power of money. These crops of people will amass such wealth and during elections settle those they can settle and reclaim their "SEAT" while nothing changes in the lives of the electorates.

I want to provoke our thoughts with this questions?

1. How much do you pay monthly to fuel your generators?
2. What quality of education do our Children receive in Nigerian schools (both public and private)?
3. The top end schools, how many of us can afford it?
4. If you have a bike crash now, do you think you can survive it like Yusuf Buhari did?
5. An Hausa senator exposed the way monies are shared in the upper chamber, I believe those opposing him exposition could be from either your tribe or mine. But when elections come they turn us against each other to fight.

From the fore going, it is time the NIGERIA YOUTH takes his destiny in his hands.

The first step is to obtain your PVC.

Remember, Nigeria is ours to Plough and not plunder.

We can no longer seat and watch these crop of people plunder our common wealth. It doesnt matter if it is oil money, cocoa money, Coal money, or otherwise.

Let us rise and demand for accountability.

#notononsense
There is no doubt there is going to be revolution stage by the youth revolutionaries very soon. It is going to cut across every facet of National life be it religion, politics academics, profession very soon. I had this revelation not long ago. So note it.
