Lexusgs430: I knew I was in a relationship with the right person, I had educationally achieved a reasonable level, I could 100% bear the expense of my wedding celebration, I could maintain and sustain a marital home. I had attained a level of maturity, sense of compromise and loads of African love to give (no flowers). 14 years and 3 kids later and still waxing strong !!! First mature comment, Thank you! As for me, its still work in progress, although iv been able to sieve the possible ladies in my life i might get married to, its becoming hard relegating one of them, I'm sure when I do, I'll get married. |

Romance › Re: Why Nigerian Ladies Should Never Settle For Less by walearoy(m): 11:27am On Sep 21, 2014 |
safarigirl: Being born into a society such as the Nigerian one connites certain things for a female.
From the day you can tell your right from your left, you're basically taught to be subservient to men. You're told that your place is in the kitchen and your brothers' place is in front of the television. Most of all, you're told that your only purpose in this world, is to fulfill the desires of some dude, serve him and bear his children. You are not to aspire for anything more and failure to live up to these expectations means failure as a person.
Well, this thread was inspired by a certain thread that was on FP today:
https://www.nairaland.com/1911041/why-nigerian-girls-should-not
Now, the stupidity of this thread is baffling. Basically, it's some lady telling females to settle for less. Telling us that we do not deserve the best and we shouldn't make any efforts to aspire for such because that would be foolhardy.
I honestly sympathise with her that she was unable to get the man of her desires, and eventually chose to settle for Plan B, who in fact was not what she desired, but as they say, when the desirable is not available, the available becomes desirable.
Time and again on Nairaland you find numerous chauvinists telling women basically that they have no opinion, telling us that we ought to dance skelewu because one of these rare species called 'men' looked upon us with pity and decided to marry us. And for those poor souls like Rita Dominic, Linda Ikeji and Genevieve Nnaji who are yet to be honored witha wedding ring? They should keep praying the rosary and hope they don't die 'marriageless'
Marriage is the be all and end all of a woman, therefore, she must settle for a raggamuffin if she hasn't found a gentleman at the ripe 'OLD' age of 27. Once you're through with University, your next bus stop should be a man's house.
Many women have ended up in loveless, frustrating marriages after settling for less, because all your friends got married after University doesn't mean you must marry at that time. Don't be the one whose story ends with 'Had I Known'
Feel free to live a little, keep your head on your shoulders, walk with your chin up, if you want your man to be as tall as Lebron James, don't settle for Tom Cruise, if you want him to be as charming as Antonio Banderas, don't settle for Al Pacino, if you want him to be as fit as CR7, don't settle for Mr. Ibu. If you must settle for less, let it be reasonable, don't go from a Lebron to a Kevin Hart because you're 'getting old and all your mates are married" no be who marry first dey happy pass.
Even the bible says "ask and it shall be given unto you" so if you tell God "I will manage..." He will bless you with a 'manageable' man.
God bless you as you settle with the best My pics says it all

Decryptor: I have been an ardent customer of GTB for the past 8yrs and enjoyed their mode of services until recently. I use to read comments (even here on Nairaland) about how they are over-rated and refused to agree to it until recently esp in the area of their online banking services.
GTB...Guarantee Trust Trouble Bank Common Dude! How much were you paid to do this negative publicity? Personally i agree GT is over hyped but will never speak about them this way! Went to a Isolo Gt branch to update my mandate ,the staff needed to make copy of my ID card and she was like 'Sir, go over there to make 2 copies of this form and your ID' and I was like 'is it my job?' She just went mute and continued with what she was doing, out of frustration I had to make the copies. GT is a very good bank, but i personally will take a UBA or FBN over them. UBA ibanking failed me just once which got rectified after 24hrs. |

Put this way, if you don't want to be charged simply stick to using your own bank ATM. The only people who will bear the brunt of this policy somesault are those who bank with GTB Pls tell dem o |

Romance › Re: My Married Ex Wants To Compensate Me by walearoy(m): 5:10am On Jul 13, 2014 |
jenny2007: Hi house, I've been a silent follower of this section on nairaland for a long time, however I have something that is eating me up in my mind. So here goes:- My bf and I have been dating on and off for 2years now. The first time we broke up (last year) he had cheated on me, I forgave him. We broke up a second time becos he was upset that I travelled out of the country on a short break "without him knowing" according to him (I told him o but he just didn't want me to go). In the middle of all the fights and begging him about the trip he uploaded a strange girl's pix on his dp. My bf is so inlove with himself that he only uses his personal pix as dp on his phone so I went into a mad rage and tears when I saw the lady's picture on his dp. To cut the long story short, i was so hurt that after a few weeks I went online, copied a picture of a nigerian male model (Ngo Okafor) and sent it to my guy and I told him that the guy in the pix just finished sleeping- with me now and that he's better that my bf in bed. We broke up of course. Mind you I have always been faithfull to him but did this to spite him becos he had cheated on me before and also flaunting a girl on his dp. Now, we are reconciled and have been back together for a year now, however, he keeps refering to the pix that I sent him when we talk. I'm dying of guilt and don't know if I should tell him the truth. Would I look foolish to him? I worry if he would that I'm lying if I say the truth. Would he think that I'm desprate to keep him? Pls your thought woulkd help . Story that touches |
