Mcowubaba:
Hmmm, Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia, why did the reject your Applications, anyway this proves what I have been saying since that admission is NOT only dependent on CGPA, because you have a very good CGPA..
I guess the program was full or you didn't meet other requirements, good statement of purpose/letter of intent or probably some reasons best known to them...

Anyway let's move on...
I strongly believe that University of Saskatchewan will grant you admission, this should definitely come this September to enable you apply for Study permit at CIC
You have already been recommended, so that's a very good news.. And University of Saskatchewan has relatively cheaper tuition than Dalhousie Uni....
Time is of essence now!!!
You can send the University of Saskatchewan a polite email asking them when they will give you a feedback concerning their admission decision...
In the thesis based masters program IN Saskatchewan, where u required to find a Supervisor ?
yes they did. i have already secured one.

hello everyone. please i need your intake on this. I graduated with a CGPA of 4.366 in production engineering. I applied to two schools in canada which are Dalhousie uni (Industrial eng course based)and uni of saskatchewan(mechanical eng...thesis based)|. recently i received a mail from dalhousie rejecting my application. but am still hoping on uni of sask on admission offer. well i have been recommended to CGSR for admission in university of sask but still waiting. all is for winter term 2017. what can you say about dis?

thanks and also to all gurus just leave a comment
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 11 by wealth360: 12:38pm On Aug 31, 2016
Mcowubaba:
Yes very well...
Provided you met the admission requirements
Find a Supervisor
And submit your application properly and timely

Try University of Saskatchewan, University of Manitoba, the have slightly cheaper tuitions depending on the program though...
But Saskatchewan is very Cold ooo... Anyway you will survive, Nigerians are in Quebec grin

Success sir
yess ooo. i heard is very cold. and again i secured a supervisor who is willing to supervise me. but still waiting for admission. i applied for thesis based program in mechanical eng.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 11 by wealth360: 12:23pm On Aug 31, 2016
Mcowubaba:
Good Evening, sorry for the delay in replying, I was busy with work.
Now from what you have sent, it is self explanatory, very clear and concise...
University of Western Ontario has told that you could still be admitted with the CGPA, but it depends on some factors like Letter of intent also known as Statement of purpose, which I mentioned earlier, number of applications nd getting a supervisor....
Now this is why I was asking you what type of Masters degree you were applying for.
Because getting a Supervisor that is willing to handle your research/Thesis will go a very long way in determining your admission...
Now my advise, firstly from the Department page, find their research publications or journals, then check the ones that are related to your proposed field or specialization, then try and get in contact with the Authors of this Journals (by clicking on their profile and sending them mail, there are guidelines for this)

please note most research nd publications are done by both students and professors/lecturers, try and find out the one that's a professor, I believe this won't be a problem for you.
I know people with lower CGPA that were admitted for Masters degree program at the University of Alberta, Queens University and University of Ontario Institute of Technology, bros your CGPA is okay..... As I said before.

All you need now is to write a very good letter of intent/statement of purpose, give them official email address of your references - mostly from academic background: your HOD, your project supervisor, your Course adviser should be among your reference, but if you believe the wouldn't write very well about you, you can find other lecturers in your department you believe will give you a powerful reference, your last employer can also give u a reference, even the place you may have served in via NYSC (ppa) ...
Don't be scared about your CGPA..
Find a supervisor, as I told you
Write a very powerful letter of intent/statement of purpose
Arrange your updated Curriculum Vitae/Resume very well
Please don't lie or say things which you can't defend...

But most Course based Masters program don't require you to find a Supervisor, so I don't knw what University of Western Ontario is talking about, anyways the will know better undecided

Where you will need a supervisor is UofM for Thesis based Masters, getting a supervisor is not hard, just package yourself very well, if you're a Religious person, you can also pray to your God..
Sometimes in UofM, you may not even find a supervisor, all you need to do is to register, because during registration, you may be asked to provide a Thesis title and how you intend going about it, this will be reviewed and a professor or Dr maybe allocated to you if the have any that is interested in your Research, anyway send the department a mail about this for more information ....

University of Manitoba has a relatively cheap tuition $14,000 - $20,000, compared to other Universities.

And now the advantages of doing a Thesis based Masters is very good, you could easily get sponsorship, funds, awards to do a PhD program... You could also get very personal with your supervisor, which will be very beneficial for you wink
Disadvantages of thesis based, it's time consuming, you have to be very smart, hardworking, independent, focused and knowledgeable, if not you may not finish on time or may not meet the requirements for conferment of the Masters degree ...

University of Western Ontario is in Ontario province, the 2nd biggest province in Canada and the most populous province, it's full of job opportunities, and lots of Africans are there.

Advantages of Course based Masters, it is a bit less stressful, just like how you learnt in Nigerian University, come to class, learn with colleagues, receive lectures, some maybe online, write test occasionally, exams, internship, do a dissertation at the end. Simple

Disadvantages, difficulty in getting funding or external support, more stressful in getting a PhD admission

Most applications deadlines for winter/spring 2017(have passed) and fall 2017 are fast approaching.. Manitoba is on 30th of November for fall 2017 admission, so you have to act fast....
Start your registration immediately, go nd apply for Transcript, get a student's copy that you will use to upload in their page...
You will be required to provide an original transcript directly from your University, but that is after the have given you a provisional admission...

Don't use any agent, you can do it on your own....
Any other questions or clarification, you ask anyone here...
Many people have much more informations than me.... So feel free to consult them...
We wish you well and we are here for you. cool

Mcowubaba:
Firstly your CGPA is not low, it's okay

Secondly what type of Masters degree are you applying for (course based or Thesis) ??

Thridly, did you meet the other requirements for international Graduate studies in the Universities you intend applying to ?? Check their international Graduate students page

Hope you know that Applying in this two Universities will require you to pay 100$ non refundable application fee twice (that's 200$= #47,574) check current exchange rates at www.xe.com
In your application process, I think you will be required to write about your skills, academic experience, reasons of selecting the department, what you intend to achieve with the qualifications you will get if given admission, these are called STATEMENT OF PURPOSE, make sure you submit a wonderful statement of purpose, there are guidelines for writing this, check
https://www.google.com.ng/search?site=&source=hp&ei=-abFV46CEsH7UoeCnsgH&q=how+to+write+statement+of+purpose&oq=How&gs_l=mobile-gws-hp.1.0.35i39k1j0i67k1l4.1616.2242.0.3444.6.6.0.1.1.0.428.1139.3-2j1.3.0....0...1c.1j4.64.mobile-gws-hp..2.4.1187.3.m_pjBDOx_kk

Now depending on the type of Masters degree you're applying for, that will determine my next advise to you....
Shalom
please will love to know more about thesis based masters program. do they always admit international students for thesis/research masters prog often?

Both sides are right CIC will not give you trv beyond your passport expiry date but if your passport still have more than a year they will most likely give you trv up to expiration of your passport and you will extend your trv after you renew your passport but if your passport has less than a year to expire they will ask you to renew your passport before you are issued a trv.
I love this comment. Thanks for your contribution and to everyone.

I applied with a conditional letter of acceptance and got my trv

Like the guy above me has said just prove you can meet the condition, in my own case it was submission of transcripts, I just added a copy of the one I sent to the school in my app

Up until now I haven't met the condition, the grad sec said I should bring it by hand upon resumption

So go ahead
Thanks man. Do you mean you added a copy of your transcript to your trv application? And as to what u said above that u are asked to bring it by hand to the school kept me wondering because my uni here in 9ja don't give it by hand. I think I need more insight on your experience because am going to deal with the same situation.

If you are applying for a TRV with a conditional offer of admission, You may want to prove and show that you can meet the condition on your offer.Generally, alot of people get their TRV with conditional admission..Depending on your condition(s) of admission, try and show you can meet it/them and i believe you'l be just fine.
@Austenpee4....thanks a lot for the info. but please how do I prove to them? Is it by letter of explanation that I will meet up.

Sorry sir, 4.2/5 is 84%...I wish to apply for 2017 fall(U of S), when do you think is the right time to talk to a supervisor.
Check for tips before you contact any supervisors. Just find their official email adress and send them a mail and hope and pray for a response sharp sharp.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 10 by wealth360: 4:42am On Aug 23, 2016

The best advise for you is to start looking Up for schools that fits into your details through google ASAP as most uni have already reached the application deadline for international prospective student for january start. You still could find one or two that still have january intake open for your desired program. Your best tool right now is GOOGLE..You'll find it very resourceful but you need to start right away. The application process for Msc can be cumbersome.
Check dalhousie university and university of saskatchewan
