I guess the nairaland brand isn't only attributed to Seun. But seeing your ranking, i guess you're okay.

An original name is still better in my opinion.

yawa-ti-de:
Within the Nigerian context, I dare say it is akin to not disclosing what cult you belonged to in Uni as you never know which cult your potential employer was a member of in the past.
Especially if the employer is of the opposite warring one cheesy

yawa-ti-de:
many employers in the states do use google to check out potential employees as a last step in the hiring process. Again, just in case this gets in the Nigerian realm, people need to be careful what they post on their blogs or use an alias at the very least.
, And it has reached the Nigerian Realm, so to speak. I went for a job interview 2 months ago and some of the questions where based on what i wrote in my blog (such as dedication between company time and my own outfit, etc). Considering I'm new towards blogging, others who need to might have some "laundering" to do.

webmonk yes it is
how does it look
Leaves very much to be desired - for an international video studio. But like most things in life, you get what you pay for.

I think I'll expand on tundewood's comment (which is a nutshell)

1 - Slice and Dice with tables is VERY old school - too much overhead
2 - There's more to CSS than just specifying font type
3 - spaces in URLs of images might be tolerated by new browsers, but is still a big NO-NO for serious designers (URL:http://www.papelimage.com/image/my%20pict%20profile.jpg under http://www.papelimage.com/profile.htm)
4 - As far as i can tell - everything is static HTML. Granted, I'm convinced the price is cheap. But have you considered running costs of maintenance? Or is he doing it for free?

My thoughts.
WebmastersRe: Do You Use Javascript Libraries? by WebMonk(m): 12:54pm On Jun 08, 2008
yawa-ti-de:
How do you provide a link to a word as opposed to a url? For example, how would I do, "<link>webmasters of africa</link> as opposed to www.whateversite.com?

Thanks,
By using the [url] tag. for example:

*url=absolute URL* Web Jade Solutions */url*

Becomes a link with text in HTML format. replace the "*" with "[" "]" respectively cheesy
WebmastersRe: Do You Use Javascript Libraries? by WebMonk(m): 5:51pm On Jun 07, 2008
A fresh topic in the right direction. However, as you pointed your reasons for being a web developer in a previous thread, i'm sure you'll understand why there are still many "site review" threads and stuff like that (supply and demand)

Note however:

1 - as long as there are experts and beginners, there will always be exchange - and site reviews (hopefully with this post that will change)

2 - as for using javascript libraries - i did some research, and it turns out (i stand corrected) - that excellent resources/trends as they may be, a slow internet connection can render them unusable (even when light). I can't use GMAIL in AJAX form on my internet access.

None the less, things will improve once the proper infrastructure is in place, and it would be good for our web developers to be prepared before hand.

I checked the links you gave and would start off with YUI - (Nothing like full documentation) grin
WebmastersWebmasters Of Africa - Reloaded! by WebMonk(op): 10:09pm On Jun 05, 2008
It gives me great pleasure and satisfaction to announce the successful redesign  of a genuine  web idea that has captured the aspirations of web designers and the like across the continent: Webmasters of Africa

The new design was donated by Web Jade Solutions in the spirit of raising the bar when it comes to effective web design, particularly branding. It is the shared hope of all associated with this project that Africans are not only competent, but creative as well

Branding on the next level: Membership Logo.
Also worthy of mention is the membership logo. The membership logo, more importantly, symbolizes Africa in a way that embraces professionalism, class, and originality - which is what WOA is all about . This logo is available for all registered members (and would be members) to incorporate into their design, as a way of showing we are united in the cause for excellence in all our web endeavors.

Enjoy! Comments are welcome. cheesy

Disclaimer: This is not a cause for generalization. this is a real story.
Note to moderator: if there is a similar topic, act accordingly.

There are things people will do for money, guys and women, but some are more painful than others.

There was a lady in our set. She was young, intelligent, smart, she's won a beauty pageant, the 9/10. We were friends, so i know this much. Word got out she was dating a married high roller in abuja.that was then.

Recently i just found out she got pregnant for him shortly after we left school. As expected, he got her a house in abuja and so on. What kills me in this story is i got to see the picture of the couple. The man is certainly old enough to be her father!

I used to say "whatever floats your boat", but people, is it really about the money?

Afam:
1. Power supply/Maintaining Generators

For 4 years now, I have not used a generator in my office and I don't even need one, I have an inverter backup system.

www.justalternativepower.com

2. Slow internet connection

This is one crazy area that one has not been able to tackle well as even good ISPs sometimes provide bad services that would make you want to toss the box out of the window. I now have 2 internet connections (with one acting as backup) until a better way od dealing with this comes up.
I guess Afam's No1 would be the way to go. As for 2, That's quite eccentric. Duly noted

HR.hotness:
could u break it down,,, what criteria u need to posses to be pushed up a notch,,,
my brother does the same and i don't understand how 2 perfectly good looking girls would end up in diff point levels,,, undecided
lol! Seriously, it just doesn't happen. Equal points? Unless both were non-identical twins.
As for your bro, it simply means one appeals more to him than the other.

how could you be asking for criteria? You make it sound like criteria is gender specific. Or maybe its just me?
For me sha (take it with some humor):

X - My Ideal mindset (everyone has this)
*not in order of preference*
1. Confidence
2. Personality
3  Fashion Sense (I was baptized into this late, so this is very important 4 me)
4  Status
5  Ethics/virtue
6 Moolah (this is reflected by 1,2,3 and 4)

Final Score= total scores from 1-6 + (does she tally with X? yes='+1', no='-1')

and to think that all this is done in the head and eyes alone! Women una dey try! cheesy

@poster/topic:

Been there, seen that. Now i look back and ask myself "why in the world would i be asking an indecisive chick out?" well, that explains no1 on my list above cool

So many. For one though, you can disicpline your child without the danger of getting sued, or the Social Security Service being notified.
Plus, if there's no light, at least your store is still relatively safe! (imagine that in the west!)
And university life! Oh yes o!

PS: I actually played 10-10 and ete-ete! Good lord! What am i remebering? Long live Naija!
