The shit is annoying. I am not the type that post to pepper anyone. None of my pictures that I snapped here is on Facebook. I seldom also post on WhatsApp (just once in a while) but everyday you see people crippling into your DM to ask for one financial favour of the other. This is something I never did while I was in Nigeria. I had so many friends in abroad but our chat were surrounded with majorly information on how I can relocate and other discussions centred on politics, business and spots . The moment you start billing people, they start avoiding you which I don't like. I still have like 350k in my GT bank, I have said, the moment that money finishes, except my immediate family, no body go see my shi shi until I am very stable in this country. But for now, I deliberately kept that money there to be servicing urgent 5k and 10k from friends at home. I used first attack yesterday when I sense he was about to ask me for money but the guy still asked oo.. I had no choice than to send.

UK is not a cheap country.
You earn big money, Yes.
But you are also forced to spend big money.
At the month end, your account is still £0.00
-
They have made sure that you cannot save that money.
If you use public transport, you will pay.
Ok. Buy car and use. You will still pay. Insurance is mandatory, MOT is mandatory, Petrol is mandatory (abi?).
The only thing that will give you money is job.
Job sef, they will still deduct tax before you collect your salary.
-
The only reason we're deceived to like UK is because they show fine-fine things on TV/movies.
I never knew transportation is free in Nigeria. I never knew petrol is free on Nigeria.

Oga, with 200 pounds, family of 6 will feed comfortably for a month in the UK. You stay in Nigeria and you are arguing with me. Fine, food prices increased but believe me, it is still very affordable. In UK, food is the least of anyone's problem.

Trust you can never afford what they pay for electricity. Most people abroad can barely afford to eat because food has gone up over 100%. Cost of living crises is a global issue. My friend pays electricity bill of equivalent 200k a month for 2 bedroom flat.
Your friend is lying to you. We stay in a 3 bedroom flat and we spend not up to 80£ for energy. Freezer and Fridge always on 247... Tell your friend I said he is lying. As for food, if your friend is telling you that all these 2£ 1£ 50pence na him e no fit afford, it is better you guys gather money for him to come back home. That guy fit don commit and no one is willing to employ him.. But for him to be employed and still can't afford food, then he is lying.

Someone making N700k a month in
Nigeria is better of than a person making
£3000k (N4m equivalent)/ month in UK.

Out of this £3k, an average house may
cost £800 (N1m/ month).

Transportation £300 (N500k).

So, wetin come remain after tax, utilities,
feeding, car maintenance, school fees etc❓

You make the money their and the system
collects it back immediately.

This is why, in order to survive there, you
must turn yourself into jaki ( donkey), holding
different jobs at the same time. To
save na wahala.
Only in London will you spend that amount on accommodation and that's if you are single. £300 for transportation? Is the person flying to moon from London? Bro! I just top a month bus pass yesterday that can take me anywhere, anytime, within London for £80...Back in Abuja, I spend close to 40k on transport on a salary of 200k..

Thank you sis. So she should perish the idea of writing IELTS right? Secondly, as a midwife, does she have a chance of landing a job in the UK there?

We are both presently in the UK as I write. She is my dependant. She has about 2 years working experience in Nigeria as a midwife. What are her chances? She has paid for the 140£ eligibility and also about paying 68k for NMCN in Nigeria...

Can I DM you? THANK YOU.

jowhyte:
I think this your outlined process can be pretty expensive but it’s a good one to explore if the funds is there. My wife was once considering this but I objected and told her she will get a job.

Let me share our own personal story and this might motivate and encourage someone here too.

To your question if people are still getting jobs, it’s YES and wifey just got a conditional offer of employment from one of the Trusts in England but from my 6 - 7 months experience assisting wifey to hunt for jobs in the UK it’s seems very competitive now on top of the stricter WHO red list countries of nowadays but people are still getting jobs and I think the Skilled Worker Visa/COS that will give you a clear pathway to an indefinite leave/PR and ultimately a British passport makes it worth all the headache.

We had alot of unsuccessful emails especially due to red lists countries, no NMC pin, no right to work in the UK but I just kept pushing on with making more applications. I think we currently have over 750 applications on TRAC alone excluding other job sites but I have come to realize that TRAC can be the most powerful if done right and started focusing more of our job applications’ attention here and Wifey has had about 19 - 21 interviews so far from here alone with about 200+ more applications submitted and yet to be reviewed.

When we send in about 100 job applications on TRAC we are expecting to get 2 - 4 successful interviews shortlisting. We just kept sending in more applications and fine-tuning our applications especially the PS.

We started hunting for jobs around October/November 2022.

When we sensed that getting jobs as an overseas nurse especially from WHO red list country like Naija were becoming very competitive, we started applying seriously for jobs even when she has not completed her OET English Test score results.

She wrote her first OET test in Sept 2022, 2nd attempt in Dec 2022 and 3rd attempt in January 2023 and result was released in Feb 2023 but with Speaking being 340 score and I did the remarking booking and it released around March 2023 and luckily the Speaking score was upgraded to 370 and the money was refunded back into my GTBank dollar card about 4 days after.

All these while, she has been applying for jobs seriously like she already has her results complete. She had her very first interview with one of the Trust in Birmingham via Microsoft Teams February 2023 but unsuccessful.

More and more interviews came although unsuccessful I just kept encouraging her as she was learning and improving from them and this keep boosting her confidence and making her to know what types of questions to expect in the interview and practice a general answer to provide.

Any slight mistake not answering the questions well and providing real examples/ experience to back up the answers she will not be successful as we were just applying for band 5 roles that even nurses in the UK where also applying for and this makes it more competitive for her as she has no right to work, NMC pin.

We have had about 25 interviews altogether from about 15 - 17 different Trusts since we started job hunting. But she started getting more interviews after working better on her applications especially the Person Specification.

She has had a couple of successful interviews about 3 - 5 but many of the wards/Trust said they do not have the funding to support sponsorship and relocation jobs. We were not deterred as we keep firing in more applications. My goal was for her to have at least 3 job offers so she can choose from the location that will suit us.

Just Wednesday 26th April, 2023 she got a conditional offer of employment from one of the Trusts in England.

Conditional offer letter and Preemployment checks docs like COS forms, References, DBS, Occupational Health Questionnaire, MMR/Immunization details have been sent and we are now waiting for the police report to be out so we can send them back the forms and hopefully get unconditional offer of employment.

They said if everything works out well and fast, they are looking forward to having her move to England June/July with alongside other 4 - 5 nurses to resume as band 4 while preparing to attempt her first OSCE exam within the first few weeks so she can become a band 5 nurse with and NMC pin.
Sir, OET or IELTS, which do you advise my wife writes? We are both in the UK. She is a registered midwife and we are looking at the possibility of her trying her luck here with that pathway. I am a student here while is my dependant. I will be glad if you can give me the permission to DM you so as to seek more advise from you. Thank you.

Hello house!
Please I need help.
My wife is the MA. She's traveling by June to the UK. I want to join her with the children by December and I want to apply for dependant visas for myself and the kids by September.
Her COS had Maintenance ticked.
Will I need to show proof of funds when I apply by September or does her COS still covers us for the rest of her visa?
If not, will she need to show proof of funds to support our application?
Good evening bro. Pls can I DM you.. My wife who is my dependant here in the UK is a Registered Midwife while in Nigeria. I want to ask one or questions from you. Thank you.

She will like to ask you some questions as she presently doesn't have anyone guiding her. All we have been doing is just from information gotten online which might not be as straightforward as someone that has that experience. Thank you.

Please do schools still accept 2k gbp as deposit or has it increased thank you
Even if you see a school that accepts that, how will you pay the balance? If you think you will work 20 hours a week to pay that money, then you must have a rethink considering the fact that dependants are no longer allowed from January.

There are many students that are still yet to get a job as employers now wants full time workers and not students. Well, I know one or two schools that still take 2k as deposit but the tuition fee is around 18k and also you must pay like 6k before enrollment... So technically, before you even start lectures you must have paid like 8k..

If she passes her husky, she would get a job within 2 hours......😜😁
From his write up, that lady came in as dependant and just want to start practicing Nursing with her Nigeria license. Who does that? A UK licenced nurse or midwife with a pin can't stay 2 months without a job in the UK. You will surely get one band 4 or 5 job. On the nursing part, the guy is lying. Concerning the job hunting aspect for students, he is probably based in the north east (Middlesbrough to be precised) no jobs around that area. He should move to London or Manchester and see if he won't get a job so far he is ready to work

well like i said Nigerians don't welcome review that tellls how it is here in UK.

i am a data analyst, a coder, and well known writer here on nairaland with my other username.
my next flat neighbour who is a registered nurse, BSC, RN, Midwifery. have been applying for almost 2 months now. they came before me.
last week she got a place for interview where she got over 75%pass mark above everyone but they decline her saying her uk experience and inability to communicate in uk way.

I repeat if u don't have UK experience no one will call you for jobs.

i made research, asked a number of persons how they fund it. most even came in January last year with 5m.. but that was then not this year especially this year. they gave the clue, i started the process with 15 million naira... when naira nose dived, i had no option than to get extra 15m as loan with almost 2m interest.... Little did i know it like waking into a trap.

Agencies are full, its like when UK announced that they are stopping dependant stuff.. the mad rush from Chinese, Indians etc.
Nobody will even offer that your neighbour a nursing or midwifery job without a pin. Which means she must first pay 140£ for an eligibility pin, do verification, write IELTS, write NIMC CBT exams, pass all these then get her UK licence PIn, then apply for a job, then do her OSCE. She won't even spend 2 weeks before getting a job. Who will employ her with her Nigerian license? Even a Nigerian hospital is not allowed to employ a UK graduate of nursing in any Nigerian hospital without first writing exams to obtain Nigeria license. Tell your neighbour to do all these and see how jobs will be rushing her. Nursing is a job that is almost guaranteed in this UK.
