ogoamaka99: Mat 7:5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye. |
Pastor Joe, I know that verse well: 2Co 9:6 But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. But it's not what you guys teach that it should be from your payslip, God said from your heart: 2Co 9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. And what you reap is not riches but sufficiency: 2Co 9:8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: And the increase is not in riches, but righteousness: 2Co 9:10 Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;) In other words if tithing works, Pastor Joe will increase his fruits of righteousness and stop changing his posts on Nairaland (that's like lying) and my tithing friend will repay my money. By their fruits you shall know them. The fact that tithers continue to lie, borrrow and not repay, fornicate and so on proves that tithing doesn't increase the fruits of righteousness. God didn't say it will, He said it brings a curse. God said giving from the heart makes us have sufficiency in all things and increase the fruits of our righteousness. I'm not trying to convert Pastor Joe to the truth but those who are reading should be able to see the light. |
The richest African, Aliko Dangote, is not a Christian. The richest born again Christian is mostly not a tithe-payer but rather a tithe-receiver like Bishop Oyedepo, Pastor Chris and others. I know a tither who borrowed money from me and never paid it back. He has fallen from grace: Gal 5:4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace. Tithing doesn't work because God is not an accountant: Rom 8:32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? Tithers generally become poorer: Pro 22:16 He that oppresseth the poor to increase his riches, and he that giveth to the rich, shall surely come to want. |
Let's study Malachi ![]() God addresses Israel: Mal 1:1 The burden of the word of the LORD to Israel by Malachi. And then the priests: Mal 2:1 And now, O ye priests, this commandment is for you. Who is addressed here? Israel or the priests? Mal 3:10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. It's obviously the priests who should bring ALL the tithes into the storehouse. But if you have doubts: Neh 10:38 And the priest the son of Aaron shall be with the Levites, when the Levites take tithes: and the Levites shall bring up the tithe of the tithes unto the house of our God, to the chambers, into the treasure house. The thieves who were robbing God were the priests who were not bringing all the tithes into the storehouse so that they may be meat for whom? Mal 3:5 And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his right, and fear not me, saith the LORD of hosts. |
Sweetnecta, I see you are a student of the Bible. Can you briefly state what is your belief on the person and life of Jesus of Nazareth? I would really like to know, |
It's good that you are knowledgeable about the Catholic Church. As for me, I choose to know more about Jesus. Catholic doctrines cannot edify the Church: 2Ti 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2Ti 2:16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. 2Ti 2:17 And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus; 2Ti 2:18 Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some. 2Ti 2:19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. 2Ti 2:20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. |
There were also kids in school who thought school was a big joke, today when they see us having good jobs, driving cars and owning houses while they have to hustle to make a living, I see the regret in their eyes, |
Joagbaje:Doing Business with the gospel? making merchandise of the flock? NO!: 2Co 11:7 Have I committed an offence in abasing myself that ye might be exalted, because I have preached to you the gospel of God freely? Mat 10:8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give. He was working with his own hands, not peddling the gospel: Act 20:33 I have coveted no man's silver, or gold, or apparel. Act 20:34 Yea, ye yourselves know, that these hands have ministered unto my necessities, and to them that were with me. |
Hahaha, He edited his post. Edit also the scripture: Mar 16:17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak hahaha, Pastor Joe! Why? Why? |
Joagbaje:By the way, you said all Christians ought to speak with tongues. The scriptures quoted above says "We are members of one body. We can't all be apostles and prophets. We can't all work miracles, we can't all have gifts of healings and we can't all speak with tongues." Mar 16:17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; The scripture you used to justify your doctrine used the same phrase "speak with" as the scripture that clearly says not all speak with tongues. twisting the Bible is difficult Pastor Joe, you will find yourself in a knot. |
Joagbaje:Any quotes from the Bible? Or is this "revelation knowledge" |
Joagbaje:It's not aimed at anyone in particular, just a general education. You are a Christian. I'm sure you have met at least one person who gave a prophecy that never came to pass. |
Sweetnecta:You can discuss that with your fellow muslim brethren. This discussion is for Christians |
As for this kid, spiritual gifts only come with the holy Spirit and the Holy Spirit is only given to those who obey God. The first act of obedience is repentance. Repentence can only come after conviction of sin. If a 2 year old can understand sin and be convicted and repent, then maybe she can receive the Holy Spirit. We have to be careful with this. Tomorrow you will hear a 1 year old, 8 month old, 1 month old filled with the Holy Spirit. What is next? a baby filled with the Holy Spirit form his mother's womb. What I think is that the child can be imitating, even a lot of adults do that why can't a 2 year old imitate preaching and speaking giberrish tongues? It's more likely that she's imitating rather than having received the Holy Spirit at 2. |
I don't speak in tongues but I have the gift of discernment of spirits. That is my function in the body of Christ. I can discern those who are speaking giberrish or demonic tongues but I don't forbid anyone to speak in tongues. I also don't expect those who speak in tongues to put me down because I don't speak in tongues. |
Speaking in tongues is a gift that not every Christian has unless every Christian is an apostle: Co 12:27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular. 1Co 12:28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. 1Co 12:29 Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? 1Co 12:30 Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret? 1Co 12:31 But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way. We must covet the best gifts and it is not speaking in tongues (1 Corinthians 13) like some churches say. The best gift is prophecy: 1Co 14:1 Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy. The reasons why are also given in 1 Corinthians 14, I think tongues are favoured over other spiritual gifts because they are easy to fake. |
If a prophet gives a false prophecy, you must not fear him Deu 18:22 When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him. And what is the fate of that false prophet? Deu 18:20 But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die. Then how come we don't see false prophets dropping dead? Many false prophets are already spiritually dead but they continue to prophesy visions of their own heart or to prophesy under the influence of familiar spirits. Also God has anointed fearless men of God with the spirit of Elijah. Fearless anointed ones of God who are not afraid to take up the sword of the Spirit, the Word of God, and slay false prophets. If your pastor/prophet tells you something like God said "That one is your wife" and the woman marries someone else or dies in a car accident before you could marry her, how is it possible that God could have said it? Did God not know she will die? Don't make excuses for false prophets. If the thing does not come to pass, that is the thing that the Lord has not spoken. Don't let them make excuses like "God said , but then you fell into sin". That's making a mockery of God. If God has spoken something, it must come to pass whether the devil likes it or not. Not by power nor by might but by the Spirit of the living God. If it does not come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord has not spoken. |
There was just something disturbing me spiritually, I didn't see any things neither did I wake up with any marks or scratches but I was in an unusual dreaming state and as I woke up, I said in my spirit: "wait Peter!" <assuming Peter is the name of the groom>. Which could also be maybe "stop Peter!". It could be Peter's aunties were doing their family things and they landed on me or Peter's bride's family was doing things on him or whatever. We don't really need to go into details but as Christians we should be careful of some of the things we get involved in, in the name of tradition. "wait Peter!" could mean Peter is making a mistake in marrying this woman maybe or whatever. I don't know what it was all about but I will avoid being a groomsman in future and if I do, I will make sure to sleep at home. |
2Co 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 2Co 5:18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; A new creation in Christ Jesus ought to critically look at many of the African traditions, especially during weddings and funerals. These are times when families come together. all the aunties come together and those with witchcraft bring it with them. There are many things which are done during these events that are inexplicable except that it is tradition. Many of those things are really opportunities for witchcraft. I recently had an experience at a wedding where I was a groomsmen and I slept in the groom's room with the groom the day before the wedding. One of the other groomsmen was also supposed to sleep there but he somehow avoided it. I almost became a victim of witchcraft that day. I don't know exactly what was going on but I woke up because some strange spiritual things were going on. Thanks to the Holy Spirit of God for waking me up and the blood of Jesus that covers me. Isa 54:17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD. However, as Christians we should not tempt the Lord. Having had this experience, I will avoid many traditional practices from now on. If I happen to get married, I don't want a traditional wedding where all the families come together and try to "bless" the marriage with their traditional practices. We can't trust the Lord to bless our marriage if we also ask blessings from ancestors. What are traditional practices if not honouring ancestors? Can we honour ancestors and God at the same time? 2Co 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? 2Co 6:15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? 2Co 6:16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. In order to enjoy God's protection, we need to separate from wordly things including traditions. What do you think? |
They don't believe that Jesus gave the perfect sacrifice on the cross. They don't believe that it is finished. They don't believe that the ordinances have been nailed to the cross. In other words tithers don't have enough faith not to tithe. Heb 3:18 And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not? Heb 3:19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief. Heb 4:9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. Heb 4:10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. Heb 4:11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief. |
Yes, Jesus was emphasised that the Jews who kept the law by tithing should also keep the weightier matters of the law. We are not Jews under the law. Jesus has fulfilled the law and told us and showed us how we too can fulfill the law. However if there is a veil on our hearts, we will remain in bondage. 2Co 3:14 But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ. 2Co 3:15 But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart. 2Co 3:16 Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away. 2Co 3:17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. Rom 13:10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. Mat 22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. Mat 22:38 This is the first and great commandment. Mat 22:39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. Mat 22:40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. |
I have to apologize for posting the above in blue, but I just felt that I needed to expose paris10 for the wolf in sheep's clothing that he is. |
Hey Paris10, post your own advice without attacking me. Who told you that I got this from a Pastor? I'm a Christian, and talking from experience. From which experience are you talking? Are you a Christian? If you are, this is what the Word of God says about you: Isa 5:20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Isa 5:21 Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight! Blu-girl, click on paris10's name and click on "show last 10 posts of this person". Decide for yourself if you will be taking Christian advice from someone who talks this this: I didn't mention any Nigerian celebrity because they're all money mongers and base their relationship bulls**t on money I guess not! This is it. Guys always imagine someone else's d*ickk penetrating the hole he calls safe haven. In doing this, they find it irritating and somewhat disgusting to want to do that babe again. What is wrong with Christians? Not every one belong to this faith you know. Virtually every topic raised on this forum always end up being Christianize. |
It's a hard one, I know a lady who became born again and was on and off with her boyfriend for three or four years until eventually she became pregnant. I don't know your boyfriend, but if he is like most guys, he will be looking to get you to sleep with him. Besides the risk of sleeping with him, if you have really given your life to Christ, you need to give your whole life to Christ: Luk 14:26 If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. Luk 14:27 And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple. Luk 14:28 For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it? I don't know in which Church you became born again and what you were told about being born again, but being born again is not as easy as it is made out to be. It's not about "giving your life to Christ" and continue living the same way: 2Co 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 2Co 5:18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; I would advice you to keep a distance and eventually break up with him if he doesn't break up with you first. If you are meant to be with this person (marriage is the only aim in a godly relationship), things will work around for good that you will get back together. As a Christian your aim should be to know and to do the will of God: Rom 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. Rom 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. |
South-African based CRC (Christian Revival Church) are building a R100 000 000 auditorium by raising the money from pledges. They have come up with a sort of pyramid scheme from which those who participate can make money from others as it is with a regular pyramid scheme. PLEDGE DISTRIBUTION BREAKDOWN: Pledge Amount R4762 (cash or terms) Deposit R1000 (payable per cash, cheque, credit card or EFT) Balance R3762 Monthly Payment R313.50 x 12 months (interest free) R3273 (per pledge) If a cash up front pledge, full amount paid over to fund immediately. If a payment terms, then R272.75 to fund per month over the 12 month repayment period REAP THE BENEFITS For a small amount of effort, pledgors will be helping significantly to build the auditorium and will be receiving a marketing expense reimbusement in return. With cash or finance pledge options, interest free over 12 months, offered - backed by existing HMS administrative and financial systems – the pledge price is affordable. When the pledgor introduces 2 people to the project, he/she becomes eligible for the marketing distribution costs and will earn R200 for each of those first 2 introductions. The building project will earn R 3273 for each of those introductions. Thereafter, for every person the pledgor introduces, from the 3rd introduction on, he/she will earn R900 per introduction and the building project R3273 per introduction! So, every time you successfully introduce someone to the project, you will have contributed R 3273 to the CRC Pretoria Auditorium building project AND earned an income for you! By introducing just 7 people, you will have recovered the cost of your initial pledge of R4762. Thereafter, the marketing distribution amounts due to you are your earnings to do with as you please. The portion that is repayable to you can be used at your discretion, and can be used for further tithing or can be further injected into the building project. The choice is yours! |
Not only did Jesus fulfill the law, he also nailed it to the cross. hallelujah! He did it not out of love for Moses but out of obedience to God. Php 2:6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: Php 2:7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: Php 2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Php 2:9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: Php 2:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; Php 2:11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. The "knowledge" that you have cannot save you, only Jesus can. He lived, He died, He rose again. |
Show me where in the Bible Jesus told us to love dead people in general or to love Moses in particular? |
Who said we love Moses? We love Jesus because He first loved us. We love him by obeying His commandments as for this Mohammed, we cannot love him becuase he did not die for us. 1Pe 1:7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: 1Pe 1:8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: 1Pe 1:9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls. 1Pe 1:10 Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you: 1Pe 1:11 Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow. You love Mohammed, we love Jesus. |
I hope you are planning to get married soon, congratulations. 6-10 people can also be a church: Mat 18:20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. God doesn't need big buildings and big ministries (not that they are bad) but the things which are valued highly by men, God hates: Luk 16:15 And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God. Ideally your girlfriend must attend one of the two churches but it may just be that God is blessing her differently at both places and God could be using her at both places. As for tithes, they are not commanded by God but God, but God said we should give out of our own heart. We can argue about tithes the whole year but the fact is that many Christians do not tithe but all Christians give. That's all that is required in the New Testament. Galatians 3-5 and 2 Corinthians 8-12. It's a lot of scriptues but it clears up any confusion that comes from verse-picking. |
We cannot love him. He died long before we were born. |
The scripture is misused. it's not about tithes at all. From verse 22, Luke 6 is talking about relations with other people: Luk 6:22 Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake. Doing good to people: Luk 6:33 And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same. lending to them: Luk 6:34 And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again. And giving: Luk 6:38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. Giving to Pastors is addressed elsewhere: 2Co 9:10 Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;) Giving to Pastors increases the fruits of your righteousness. If there's a Pastor telling you to sow a seed to his ministry in order to get a financial return on investment, rather go to a local bank for advice on financial instruments. |
Some people are born blind, deaf, mentally or physically disabled. It is Ok to be mentally disabled? No. So whether people are born gay or not doesn't make it OK. One can see it as a disability that one is born with or acquires, same as mental illness can be in born or acquired. Mental illness is hereditary in some cases, homosexuality could also be hereditary IF people are born gay -I'm not gay, was never gay, so I don't know. But what I know is fornication is a sin: Jud 1:7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. And to avoid fornication, a man must marry a woman and a woman must marry a man: 1Co 7:2 Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband. To me, that suggests that fornication is a sin committed by two people who are not married to each other and scripture supports that view: 1Co 5:1 It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father's wife. Every adulterer is also a fornicator, but fornication does not always include adultery. Every fraudster is also a criminal, but every crime does not always include fraud. Every homosexual is also a fornicator, but fornication does not always include homosexuality. By homosexual, I mean a person who has sexual relations with men IF you are born homosexual, you can crucify your flesh and stop your homosexual relations just as much as heterosexual single Christians crucify their flesh. A homosexual who repents becomes a saint just as much as a heterosexual who repents: 1Co 6:11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God. Unrepentant homosexuals will perish, unrepentant heterosexuals will likewise perish: Luk 13:3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. If you believe in the Bible, then you should know that God allows a union only between a man and a woman, which is called marriage. Any other sexual relations outside marriage is fornication. If you don't believe in the Bible, then Good for you. The Bible permits unbelievers to do what they want (oh, the wisdom and glory of our God!): Rev 22:11 He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. Rev 22:12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. |
