Still evidence of a failing society and a lack of confidence in it's institution. We still got a looooog way to go.

Religion. The opium of the masses. If only extremism and killing in the name of religion hasn't become so prevalent, I don't think anyone would give a rat's ass about what religion someone switched allegiance to.
Wish them well, though.
These people have to be really docile if none of them questioned their pastor's (or imam's, as the case may be) faith if he can suddenly get them to make a 180° turn overnight.

@whirlwind7 can you get the e-version of the book- Biafra: Britain's shame by Auberon waugh
Sorry, bro. I don't have it. I will keep on searching for it, though.
But from the title of this book you asked for, if you have read Mr Forsyth's book, you will get to understand what is being referred to as Britain's Shame.
RomanceRe: If You Where In My Shoe What Will You Do by whirlwind7(m): 1:58pm On Aug 30, 2015
Bro, don't do it.
Trust me, the shame you think you would feel is nothing compared with what your girl will pass through.

What's more, whatever feeling of disappointment and anger your parents will feel, will evaporate like magic once they behold the baby - their grandchild. So long as your girl is willing to weather the storm, keep the pregnancy, and both of you can fight this battle together. I just hope the love you guys have for each other is strong enough.
CultureRe: Archaic Igbo Naming Patterns And The Chi-prefix by whirlwind7(m):
Since the word "chi" already exists in igbo culture, prior to the advent of the missionaries,it indicates that names prefixed by "chi" have existed before that era.
Apart from personal "chis", people were aware of the existence of a Supreme Deity. This is what they termed "Chineke" - the god that creates. They felt that even their adopted and personal chi came into existence because there is one that created, permitted and gave "life" (spirit) to it. The problem was, they felt that this Supreme Deity is too big to be approached, and too vast/deep to be understood by mere mortals. Which is the reason why individuals adopted their own personal chi to serve as an intermediary. Christianity arrived and put a gradual stop to that belief.

So, names with chi prefixes had indeed existed before the missionaries showed up. You can arguably say that such names are more common and mainstream nowadays. The reason could be that Christianity and the knowledge about God is more widespread than it was in those early days.

That's it. I'm not sending any more mails today. Perhaps I will feel up to it some other time. Happy reading, y'all.

Most of these cyber warriors and keyboard "geniuses" have no real idea what they are talking about.

The thing is, The British were running the country then. They are the ones who employed personnel to man various positions in the civil service across Nigeria.
Most northerners were illiterates. They cannot handle such jobs that require one to read or write anything. The British had no choice but to invite educated southerners to come up north, and have them appointed into those posts. That's where the envy and hatred arose. Northerners then felt that people from the south are taking over the jobs meant for them! Igbos in particular are adventurous and enterprising. Coupled with their love for education, northerners don't stand a fleeting chance on any level playing ground.

A comparison can be made with the xenophobia shown by South Africans against people from neighboring countries that took up businesses that most South Africans were reluctant or unable to perform. Next, they felt that the way forward is to kill or chase them out of their country. If you didn't support that horrible move by South Africans, then you need your head examined for supporting Ahmadu Bello and his Northernization Policy.

That Ahmadu Bello preferred to outsource those jobs to expatriates when there are suitably qualified southerners to man the positions shows how intimidated and bitter the north is. Since when has it become a crime to rise through the ranks and become the top dog in an organization, by virtue of hard work and excellence? That anyone on this forum will see nothing wrong with his position, simply shows the sort of half baked and backward thinking generation this country is churning out.

Even till this day, have the north fared better for it? The policy simply reduced them to mere half wits. There was no real desire to improve themselves, since the policy got rid of competition for jobs where the best is selected. That's why till this day, southerners are required to score 200+ while northerners just need to score 2 marks to gain admission into the SAME school.

Now, isn't that a pity?

Foreign AffairsRe: N India 2 Sisters To Be Raped As Punishment After Brother Eloped With Married Wo by whirlwind7(m): 12:30pm On Aug 29, 2015
So, Amnesty International is canvassing for signatures to save the girls from such an inhuman treatment?
The question I'm asking myself is, does India not have a government? If the news about this has gotten well circulated that Amnesty International is aware of it, how come the government of India has not stepped in and put a stop to this nonsense?

If a backward race is bent on self destruction, kindly let them. If the community involved see nothing wrong in meting out such a punishment to the two innocent girls, then I honestly think the international community is wasting its time over a people who are not ready to redeem themselves.

Huh. We all know that the only tribe who is afraid of competition in whatever level, are the people from the north.
This video doesn't even say much. Get a better perspective of how their mind work, and how they have this unhealthy phobia for progressive and hardworking southerners from the book "The Biafra Story" by Frederick Forsythe.
I mean, when you understand them, you won't be surprised that despite being in power longer than any region of the country, the north remains the most backwards, poorest and most underdeveloped appendage of this contraption called Nigeria.
I can mail the eBook to anyone who wants to read it.

Ok, in order to get everyone to pay up in time so we can start all our promised works like the culvert and the royal palms, it is becoming necessary to fine everyone who has not paid up by end of this month a 10% charge on the amount they owe.

Abeg, temper this justice with a little mercy o. You have been very patient and accommodating.
It will be a huge relief if you could extend this deadline till end of the year. I can see from your breakdown that those plots not fully paid for are in the minority.

CrimeRe: Man Drugs And Kills Girlfriend’s Brother Over N750,000 (Graphic Photo) by whirlwind7(m):

He said: “At about 3a.m, I decided to kill him. I gave him the first cut and the guy got up. I gave him a second one and then he died and I butchered him to parts.” He said he was riled because the deceased dared to raise his voice at him when he demanded payment of the N750,000 he purportedly loaned him over two years ago."

I'm getting convinced that the world is indeed about to go kaput! The love of many has waxed cold, as the holy book said is bound to happen, during the final days.
That people no longer see anything wrong with butchering a fellow human is very scary.

Now that you guys have "arrested" the innocent cow that strolled around for sight seeing, what is your next move?
I hope you are going to return it to it's owner, or at least, to the truck driver? These Fulani men don't mess around with their cow. U can snatch their wives, but don't even joke with holding their cow hostage, much less slaughtering it.
