The avoidable deaths on our roads is just beyond comprehension. Since that stretch of road had been fixed, the sort of reckless speeding and overtaking on it is so frightening. |
Still waiting to get jealous... ![]() |
And the members of staff couldn't come together to get a lawyer? I know one other office in Lagos where such a thing goes on too: Goldlink Insurance branch office at Ikota shopping complex, Ajah. The manager happens to be a woman too (no surprise )The spineless employees there have endured so much abuse and their commissions are always tampered with. This manager always takes a certain amount for herself before releasing the "leftovers" to her minions. Someone who worked there, but resigned out of frustration, told me how he tried to rally the rest of the working stiffs to make a report to their head office, but found out at the last minute that he was deserted by his colleagues, and left to carry the blame for the "failed coup" |
Well, it can only seem laughable to you because ours is a nation where procedure is never followed. So, because its a tiny sum of NGN 100, it is irrelevant? I disagree with you. There was this video where president Obama needed to register for a certain procedure. The lowly clerk, surprisingly, demanded that the president produce his ID card. He complied and produced his drivers license. He is the president, and based upon just that recognition, that procedure of asking for an identification could have been waived. But the clerk didn't. The clerk bluntly told the president..."thats the PROCEDURE!" I guess that's a word that is alien to our nature of doing things in this country. I often view gov. Wike as uncough. But this time, I agree with his stand. It doesnt matter if the amount involved is N1 or a billion naira. If you are found wanting in little things, don't expect to get it right in the more important ones. |
Biafra? I believe it exists in the heart of those who yearns for it; those whom it matters to. You can't indefinitely subdue a people who keep yearning for their self determination. True, it was recognized by some countries...but it's brief existence was marred by continuous warfare and bloodshed, and it wasn't really afforded the chance to take it's place on the world stage. But then, note that this list isn't comprehensive. There is no USSR on that list. Now, that was one mega country that eventually split up. I'm sure to unearth so many more with a little research. |
I was bracing myself to see something worse. Now I don't know whether to be relieved it didn't look as horrible as the "normal" naija cells, or to cringe in revulsion because many of it's occupants are likely going to be people used to luxury...especially theiving politicians and civil servants. Well, I wasn't expecting a luxurious cell either. If you find yourself in this place, then you deserve whatever you got. |
Ok, Majek Fashek's place of rehabilitation is the latest celebrity destination. Alright, guys! Line up one after the other for a photo-op. I see Psquare, AY, Davido, Tonto Dike, Baba Suwe, Basketmouth, Rita Dominic and the rest of them lacing their boots for a quick dash to the new mecca. |
That is the sorry state of almost everything in federal government owned facilities. Don't be surprised that since the past 10 years, over N500m would have been budgeted and appropriated to maintain what you are looking at in these pictures. No one cares. No one is mandated to give an account. It's government property, so it's nobody's property. Shameless bunch with no conscience. April of this year when I was at Murtala Mohammed Intn'l airport in Lagos, there was this very strong and putrid smell of rotten garbage right inside the depths of the building. The entire place smelled like a refuse dump. The embarrassment was beyond description. I'm tired of reading and hearing the expression "only God can help us" Seem like we are a people hell bent on our self destruction and extinction. |
Poverty and desperation really does push some people to do very stewpid and desperate things. By the way, who is a "corporate thief", and what earned this unfortunate man that name? |
The problem isn't his height; the problem is his feeling of insecurity. He rather has a very low esteem about himself. C'mon! That a stranger who doesn't know any better mentioned that he would be turned down for jobs because of his height....and this got him loosing his appetite and getting so depressed? Whoever said tall guys are confident and all that stuff..? Guess it doesn't apply to your cousin. |
cccxxiii:This isn't a confession; It is a denial. Can you honestly believe that the former president was not aware of the looting and raping of the economy while he was in office? Can he actually convince anyone he wasn't aware of Diezani's shenanigans? Thing is, he was spineless. Didn't have the guts to clamp down on his appointees. His words and inactions while in office had already indicted him before now. |
Oh, c'mon! They shoulda been allowed to remain there... North East isn't safe yet. Moreover didn't PMB tell them that there is no plan to absorb them yet, when he visited Cameroun, like he did at Benin Republic? |
Wow! You know, in some place else, the person who bought this meal would jubilate: He would be thinking about legal action which would likely end with some form of compensation. Here, you got to thread carefully. Our judiciary is still trying to wake up. Moreover, since it was a takeaway meal and you didn't unwrap it right there in the joint, the proprietor could want to twist it to make it look like you substituted this pity offering. Can't tell you what course of action to decide on. It could turn out to be a double edged sword. |
Abeg, chill joor. If this were such a horrible emergency as you are trying to portray, would that woman and the elderly looking man sit by calmly like nothing happened? I think the crash had occurred a little while before you got to the scene, and any victim needing a rescue would have been helped by the time you passed by. |
Chei. My broda, na God save ur yansh. Woulda beaten the fagg0t within an inch of his life there and then. Most gays I've seen play it cool and get very sure about not receiving a horrible response from a new prospect before they make a move. This one just pounced on you, because he felt that being a doctor would make you respect him. Bah! ![]() |
Someone I know who got married a few years back opted to hire a wedding gown, instead of purchasing one. It was kind of curious because, the rental price was quite high (paid about N12k) for a normal, run of the mill, no designer label gown. Upon returning the gown few days after the wedding, the lady at the bridal shop was surprised. When asked why, she said, most of their patrons don't bother about returning the gowns. That they mostly end up as second hand gowns in some markets after the folks who rent them, sell them off. She gave this as the reason why they rent such gowns at exorbitant prices, knowing that most times the customer won't return them. Some who bother to have them returned often bring them back in a state of such misuse, that the gowns become junk. Another lesson learned. |
Ok, so the army whips its boys as a part of what? Punishment or training? Little wonder they behave like wild animals when they have poor civilians at their mercy. |
Kid is getting subjected to a very tasking mental exercise! You can see the confusion on his face. |
On behalf of all snake in naija, this letter of appeal goes out to everyone out there. It is with a genuine feeling of dread and fear of extinction that we are pleading for mercy and leniency from all denizens. We know that we are greatly despised and abhorred by almost everyone. We understand that, and we have been living with it for generations. Perhaps it's because the Creator permitted the devil to take our appearance when he deceived Eve in Eden's garden. Or perhaps it's because the very sight of our magnificently slithering and sexy body evokes a primordial fear in humans? Whatever the reason may be, kindly note that we were all created by the same source. We have the right to eat, breathe and shyte like everyone else. We can actually point you in the direction of better and more fulfilling targets to quench your lust for our wholesale slaughter: Your politicians! Do to your corrupt politicians what you have been doing to us, and we more than guarantee you, that we would both have better living conditions. Politicians' poor environmental preservation policy has contributed to the destruction of our natural habitats. We need shelter, just like everyone else! We believe a plate of catfish pepper soup beats the flavour of a serpentine treat, anyday, anytime. Live and let live. Thank you. Kindly join us to observe this moment of silence for our departed comrade. We shall overcome! Signed: Committee for a better human and serpent relationship. ![]() |
That this despibable man wrangled his way into getting elected to rep his people is the kind of miracle that could only happen in Nigeria. I mean, with the horrible way he handled the affairs in Abia state, I didn't believe anyone who is half sane would wish to be seen in public with him. He arguably represents one of the worst and morally bankrupt politicians to be ever produced by the sham democracy we practice in this country. |
Guys! Take a breath and relax for a minute. I can't make head or tail out of these ramblings. What exactly went down, pls? I have been following doctorisa's posts, and suddenly noted that his handle had been deactivated. Johnnyessence seem to be privy to what happened, but I couldn't make out much of anything from his posts about the issue, except that he feels hotmas911 was culpable. Can cooler heads prevail, and allow you guys to resolve the issues involved? The agriculture section, I believe, is for matured minds. For real men. Let's act like one. One love! |
Sad. The woman should have killed just herself, since she thinks death is a way out. Killing those innocent kids is just too wicked of her. Though, I must admit that her aim to punish the errant husband couldn't have been nastier than this. |
Trust the media to deny public officials and their relations their needed privacy. The man just became NNPC boss, and his wife gets an unnecessary exposé.... Now it's his daughter's turn. All righty...buckle up for more gossip this coming weeks. Lets wait for items on his aunt, nieces and nephews, sons and uncles....and dont forget their hired helps too! Congratulations, by the way...and kindly shield your baby from them paparazzis. They got nothing better to do nowadays. |
This brother is one bulldozing hustler. I once watched him give a presentation, and came out suitably impressed. He represents the face of the new breed and upcoming entrepreneurs in Naija. On another note....I'm seriously waiting for when crude oil gets worthless. It has effectively killed any kind of inspirational or innovative ideas from our youths who keep waiting for govt handouts. We need to be up and about. Them bloody politicians don't give a hoot what becomes of us in the immediate future. Believe me! |
Good to know you escaped lightly. I avoid driving through certain places at night, if I can help it. Also, be advised that you can't save any significant amount of fuel if you drive without AC. This is very true, especially if the AC was factory installed. Believe me! |
I love the Chinese...corrupt public officials don't get off easily there. Notice how it's only the Chinaman that got served, among all the public figures that were mentioned in this post? ,,,and also how, the only female is from... ![]() Our women dey try sha! |
Great job, nairamaverick! Can I use any other bitters in place of Angostura Bitters? I find this really fascinating. |
Well...as innotivative as this solution seem, nothing really stops the herdsman from removing and destroying a tracking or homing device embeded just underneath the skin of his cattle. The idea is superb....that is, until the agency charged with procuring the devices begin to inflate the contracts, or it's personel collude with the herdsmen and tag just a fraction of the incoming cattle.... Lots of things to consider. Fulani herdsmen just don't like the idea of cultivating, processing and producing livestock feeds. They do not want to pay for it either. They believe that nature should take care of that aspect for them, in the form of natural forages and pastures. What's more, most of these cattles are owned by wealthy northern political elites. That they haven't really done much to discourage the nomadic lifestyle of their people speaks volumes. Times have changed, but they'd rather live in the past. I would really love to see this idea implemented, just so that I can see how the herdsmen and their employers respond to it. |
..and this is called creativity? For a movie industry that absolutely lacks any sort of creative ideas, ridiculous jobs like this shouldn't be a surprise anymore. Wonder why they've not done some tasteless piece of crap chronicling how the president finally got the keys to Aso rock after so many attempts...or perhaps they've done that already? |
Hmmm. You could have asked it's rider when snapping the pictures. If it's got mechanical (engine) parts, then it should need oil. For lubrication. You were probably afraid to ask...seeing that them guys are blazing a joint . Nice looking bike, though. |
Season of snakes. Nairaland seem to have sparked the frenzy of everyone searching for snakes to kill in their neighborhood, then uploading pictures taken with the unfortunate reptiles. Abeg o! Make una take am easy. At this rate, these slippery serpents might become extinct soon. |
C'mon... Every criminal deserves the punishment he got coming to him, but this isn't right. To put this in a good perspective, imagine if a close relation was caught stealing. Would you rather he gets this kinda treatment, or be arrested by police...and let civilized justice take it's course? Criminals don't really deserve mercy, but their punishment should be as prescribed by the law. Our society seem to be regressing. |
