Yes what if the brother does not 'have long legs'? Anyway before we start proferring solutions or advices, the brother should do well by telling us what course he studied, then we can take it from there.

MTN made 65 billion naira profit last financial year!
I know a lot of people that has contributed to this N65bn profit, they spend nothing less than N15,000 monthly on MTN recharge cards, that is so unreasonable and wasteful especially when it is for pleasure.
it is a free world my dear, if someone chooses to spend N100k per month on frivolous phone calls, that is that person;s business. Saying that they dont contribute to the society is not correct either, what about the thousands of jobs created directly by MTN, indirectly by sales of fone cards?
You call that contribution to the society? What percentage of Nigerians have benefited from this contribution? Globacom and Vmobile have also contributed by providing jobs but they both have also gone the extra mile to defray cost of calling in one form or the other. My point is MTN can do better, they should do better period.

Churces have bills to pay. All over the world religious institutions charge for education.
And therein lies the problem. Shristianity is all about Naira and Kobo nowadays much in the same way that Jesus chased people out of the house of God for turning it into a den of robbers, to be honest, its just a way of making tax free income.
I see your point jogego, the school is owned by a church and they are supposed to be their brother's keeper. The less privileged should have a fair share of the best education but having said that, the best things in life doesn't come cheap, bills need to be settled. But one thing that can be done though; is for the school to give scholarships to the less privileged since they are a religious group and God does love a cheerful giver.

So you want him to come here to displace our local graduates from the most lucrative jobs when he has an opportunity to get a job somewhere else?
Haba the brother too is Nigerian and should equally have a feel of lucrative jobs in his homeland. Besides, he will only come to head them not displace them smiley. It is called Survival of the fitest.

Again not every body can be an entrepreneur you know.
FamilyRe: What Are Your Views On Divorce? by whizkid(op): 10:50am On Jun 15, 2005
Life is too short. I say go the divorce way, if there is nothing else you can do to make it work, no need to suffer in silence.
BusinessMTN Made 65 Billion Naira Profit (April 2004 to March 2005) by whizkid(op): 10:47am On Jun 15, 2005
MTN made 65 billion naira profit last financial year!

That is a lot of money and it is even tax free for now, (not until 2006 before they start paying taxes). Yet these people have refused to give back to the people of Nigeria. To partake in their promotion, you need to buy a new started pack, nothing for their existing customers at all. They even made more profit than MTN south Africa. Shouldn't they give back to the people of Nigeria, they just keep taking, that is so not fair. angry

I know a lot of people that has contributed to this N65bn profit, they spend nothing less than N15,000 monthly on MTN recharge cards, that is so unreasonable and wasteful especially when it is for pleasure.
Nairaland GeneralRe: To Stay and Work in the UK or return to Nigeria? by whizkid(f): 10:31am On Jun 15, 2005
I say return to Naija, employers of labour in Nigeria like people with an oversea Masters or MBA certificate. To enjoy your stay in Nigeria, you need a very good job with a fat pay and with money in your hands, you have the power to enjoy your life even with the hardship surrounding you. I'll explain, if there is no light, you have a big generator, you don't have to worry about traffic, your car is fully airconditioned and guess what? you are not the one doing the driving 'cos you have a driver e.tc. But when you stay in the UK, yes you earn pounds, but you also spend pounds paying for utilities, you can hardly save unless you have a very good paying job which of course is not easy to come by because of the colour of your skin, yes, racism. So, the choice is yours.

That is correct Diakim, The technology will do well in a cashless economy but who knows with the introduction of MasterCard by STB and some other banks maybe the Nigerian economy would go cashless someday and the phone will come in handy.

That is rather harsh, I must say, 'Na God creat em now' You should only thank your star that you are not an atutupoyoyo or whatever.
PhonesRe: Phones as Electronic Wallets (debit or credit cards) by whizkid(f): 4:56pm On Jun 14, 2005
Coincidentally, I read that article last week and I thought the move by DoMoCo inc. to introduce a phone that doubles has a credit card is quite innovative. Already the japanese market is congested, every Japenese has at least a cellphone but with this innovation, the company is going to tap into the market before other phone companies and increase their earnings. The only fear is that when your phone is stolen, people can have access to using your credit but they say the advantages will eventually outweigh the disadvantages. Moreso you can notify them immediately so that they can disable it.
RomanceRe: Do Long Distance Relationships Work? by whizkid(f): 4:07pm On Jun 14, 2005
Absence they say makes the heart grow fonder, but nothing was said about how long the absence should be, I mean maybe a few days, weeks or months but five years? That's alot. Like someone rightly said communication is important in a relationship but communication via emails, yahoo/msn messenger, telephone isn't just enough; you have to look into the eyes of whom you are communicating with, read his/her body language, get intimate not necessarily sex. 'Body no be firewood', you know grin
Music/RadioRe: Michael Jackson - not guilty by whizkid(f): 2:19pm On Jun 14, 2005
Michael 'Wacko' Jackson is not guilty, so the jury says. Well lucky him, he doesn't look like he can survive even a day in prison. I wonder what is really wrong with him, he looks frail. I just hope he has learn't his lesson, NO more 'loving' to sleep in bed with teenage boys. Looking forward to him releasing another hit as it has always been he case with him, know what I mean, all his songs has something to do with experience he has had at one time. Hail the king of pop!
TV/MoviesRe: What do you love about Gulder Ultimate Search? by whizkid(f): 2:55pm On Jun 02, 2005
I guess it is entertaining, and also for me curiosity. I would like to see for myself who goes home with the Five Million Naira and how the winner emerged. Again I love the riddles and see myself trying to solve them, you know see if my IQ is still on the high side wink
TravelRe: Visa Lottery: Modern Day Slavery? by whizkid(f): 2:04pm On Jun 02, 2005
I think it is a matter of choice. You can get your green card and come back to your country to help develop it, there is no restraining order attached to the visa. It only requires you to be away for not more than six months because you need to report to your parole officer. I know people who have come back with their education and work experience with International organisations to start up businesses in their motherland and believe me, they are successful. I do not thing such people would consider themselves slaves.

Well, to be objective I think Vaughn has just been lucky and might be lucky enough to clinch the prize. Its funny the winner will not be judged by character or attitude or else he doesn't stand a chance.
But Lucan was almost evicted for his violent behaviour, remember? Again I think apart from the physical and mental skills, the organisers alone know the criteria for being the ultimate man or woman.

One could tell he had given up then came the surprise. Yesterday was supposed to be another eviction day but the search with its surprises shocked us all.
Same here! With what's going on, people will begin to think that Chidi and co are favouring some people. Lucan got evicted and was later saved, same with Anita but she finally droped. Vaughn no go area.
FamilyWhat Are Your Views On Divorce? by whizkid(op): 12:40pm On Jun 01, 2005
Hi guys,

In Western worlds, divorce is very common, as a matter of fact, it happens almost everyday. Two people decide to come together and take a vow to share the rest of their lives together, forever. Both after a while for one reason or the other they want out and want to go their seperate ways; sometimes not even considering the fact they children are involved. Some of them go into marriage and come out quickly why others stay together for 10 years and more before they decide they want out.

In Nigeria, we attach importance to keeping our marriage vows and maybe that is why divorce is not so common here but it does happen, yes, Nigerians do divorce but very insignificant figure. That notwithstanding, not all marriages are rosy but the couples still decide to stick together or more like co-exist. But is it really worth it? why suffer in silence? why not go separate ways like people in the western world and find happiness with someone else? what is stopping us? what are we afraid us? or are we trying to uphold moral values, but don't your happiness count? Your views are welcomed.
TravelRe: Visa Lottery: Modern Day Slavery? by whizkid(f): 12:11pm On Jun 01, 2005
I'm afraid, I don't agree that the visa lottery is a modern day slavery or slavery in any form. The US visa lottery has given people the opportunity to school and work in the US which ordinarily you have to give an arm and leg to achieve. How many people can afford school fees overseas moreso when the cost for a foreign student is even twice and sometimes thrice as much as citizens pay. But with the visa/green card lottery you can pay like you are a citizen and still have the opportunity to work to defray school and living expenses.

If we can get the best of education and other basics, who would be thinking of applying for a visa lottery? The US government has given the developing and underdeveloped countries oppotunities to better their lots and we call it slavery?

Take a walk. It is not worth fighting for, they are not married. About getting back together, hell NO. They've been going out for say 7months and he is already cheating on her, and you call that love? Like it isn't enough he taunts her by sending her nasty text messages about how great the sex was with the other woman? Like I said before TAKE A WALK!

You said it, there is no assurance that they'll end up man and wife, so why bother herself? It isn't worth it, if you ask me! Guys like that will be even more difficult to please if they eventually settle as man and wife. I can imagine him saying the wife should sit down at home and become a full time housewife even against her will.
Nairaland GeneralRe: How Much To Charge Nairaland Users? (we're going commercial) by whizkid(f): 4:22pm On May 31, 2005
Pardon me, shouldn't you be entitled to sending private messages as long as you settle your membership fee? I think the N15 per PM should apply to "registered guests" like you put it. Again the membership fee should be a one-off payment since it is going to be affordable. May I ask what the mode of payment will be?

With the eviction of Anita yesterday, Ifeoma is the first millionaire for being the last lady standing and she is only 19. How many people can boast of earning a milion naira at age 19. Lucky her.
