Until we make MRAP’s our least means of transport for soldiers in the N.E. frontlines, we will continue to suffer from ambushes.
BHT will always stage ambush and result to gorilla tactics has a result to keep relevant, But with well protected vehicles our troops would be able to fight through such ambush or repel it.

I much would it take the federal government to buy fairly used varieties of MRAP’s from the United States and order between 200-300 MRAP’s from Proforce to encourage indigenous products.
Thought there is a rumor of bmp purchase from Russia.

Only government workers and those working in registered organizations pay income tax, and that is just a tiny percentage of the population. It will be very difficult to make sure everyone that's supposed to pay tax pays it the normal way, that is why I support some government policies like raising VAT and use of toll gates/booths and many other ways to collect money from the citizens.

Raising tax? Don't u think everything in Nigeria is already to xpensive
Government pay for a lot of unnecessary stuffs
They subsidize a lot of things for the citizens (especially unnecessary things) check the amount that has been spent on subsidizing fuels in the last 10 years and calculate what that money could have done.
Government pays about #39.59 per litre of petrol you buy, Nigerians use between 55 million - 60 million litres every day. That's average of #2.2 billion spent on subsidizing oil for Nigerians everyday.

Yes bro o lost a close paddy lieutenant in that Ambush. Funnily enough na person wey my guys party with on Friday Night.

The Maiduguri-Damboa road is a stretch that has eaten the highest number of Soldiers throughout this insurgency. That's one deadly road that most Military Gun truck Gunners ensure they keep shooting into the bushes from the beginning of that journey till the end.

RIP Lt Malgwi this one pain me I no go lie

Enough of giving nuisances attention, this is a military discussion thread, let's discuss how the issue of ambushes like this can be solved.

Citing US intelligence officials – unnamed, of course – the New York Times reported that, last year, Moscow had “covertly offered rewards” to Taliban-linked militants to attack American troops and their NATO allies in Afghanistan.
This unsophisticated plant clearly illustrates the low intellectual abilities of the propagandists from US intelligence, who, instead of inventing something more plausible, resort to conjuring up such nonsense.
Not a single evidence provided, they didn't even bother to fake just one proof to make this believable because they know that Americans and other people like those in this thread are unintelligent enough to believe it without proof or evidence.

Besides, wasn't it the US that trained, armed and financed Afghan Mujahideen (they were freedom fighters then of course cheesy) to kill soviet troops?

We know that you are determined to ridicule and insult the military and current government and we have no problem with that. Just do it far more intelligently because your current method is really primitive and it is insultive to most people on this thread that you believe we are unintelligent enough to believe you with your primitive arguments.

The government should just find a way to pay for the remaining MI-35 helicopters waiting to be paid for in Russia and get them delivered as soon as possible. They will really change things.
Also, NPF helicopters should be taken from them and if possible, they should be upgraded and used for aerial patrols in the troubled states.
It might be too late already for northern Nigeria.

It's sad that at a time when bokoharam/ISWAP might be at their weakest and making alliances with all sorts of people including bandits and brigands, our neighbors are all missing in action. Absolutely nothing from their sides. This is the moment that this insurgency can be reduced to the barest minimum yet they are not concerned.

Reason why US has not been able to seal its border with Mexico completely is a political issue. Congress isn't ready to release funds for completing the Wall. The current uncompleted Wall isn't even continuous.
Israel has border fence and it solved majority of it's security issues
China has and it was effective.
In fact several countries have border walls longer than Nigeria's northern border so why can't we do it?. The goal isn't to STOP but to REDUCE to the bearest minimum all illegal entry and exit and it can very much be achieved. In fact it will be far cheaper than the cost of the hazard not having the wall will cost.

We can’t build walls neither do we have the resources because of the vast span of our borders.
-I propose we invest a lot in drones, drones with long loiter hours that can give ground troops or patrol team an ample time/event of what is happening. Thereby reducing cost/resources generated has a result of patrols.
-Create specialized F.O.B/Super camps at equi-distance along border lines where patrol teams will operate from and we have to give a dedicated air wing to fire support, insertion & evacuation of troops/W.I.A and other logistic supplies.
We have the money, we Can do it !
And after some years, the drones will have to be retired and replaced and you will have to start spending all over again. Spend large now and forget about the issue once and for all.

People don't just trust the government, even with Covid-19 cases talk less more of a war that some people want the government to be humiliated in. Have you forgotten 2013/2014 when we used to have 300,600, 750 bht dead grin

The wall doesn't even have to be concrete or brick or any other expensive thing. It could just be Hesco filled with sand. Very cheap and will serve the same function but if we are serious about security, we should go for steel reinforced concrete. Very expensive but will last for years.

How do you think we can solve this porous border issue?
I have said it before and we continue to say it, we need a very tall fence with deep ditch in front and behind around our northern borders.
We need to starve them out, no matter how many you kill, they will always recruit more. When potential recruits know that they will be facing hunger, poverty and suffering, they will think more than twice before joining.
The mistake we are making is thinking they are scared of death, they desire death on battlefield more ardently than you desire life, that is why they blow themselves up.
All those cattle rustled will be taken across the borders and will be sold in the markets of Niger, Chad, Cameron and even as far as Ghana. That is their major source of income.
Another source of income is tax collected from fishermen in the lake Chad region and from farmers. Those people have no choice than to pay for it,we need heavy military presence in that region, when those farmers and fishermen feel safe, they won't have any need to pay "tax" to bokoharam.
Once the border is closed, they won't be able to take kidnapped victims out of the country and demand Ransome, another source of revenue strangled.
Weapons won't be able to flow in and foreign fighters/recruits will find it extremely difficult to enter the country.
Toju200:
from what I see the equipment pass through the lake Chad region/area through Chad, Niger or Mali
First it's up to our neighbors to be on the look out cos the equipment won't just teleport into Nigeria
French military are in these countries I mentioned they have Reaper drones,mirage2000 and Rafael jets that's supposed to help Alot in this war sef
But to be sincere I haven't seen Their effectiveness at all.
We first make sure we pound the hell out of terrorist in LC then mount heavy border security ( NIS, Custom,NA) Then Drones with High loitering hours will be on ISR like Twice daily
Only fools will rely on neighbors for their own security. Our safety is our own responsibility, these countries you mentioned have a lot to gain from Nigeria being unstable.
Even if bokoharam gets tanks from Libya or anywhere else, it is our own duty to make sure that the don't enter Nigeria with it.
They've entered already, we need to make sure that more do not enter while we finish off the ones that are already in.
If we don't build a fence, we will continue buying more sophisticated weapons, they will continue adapting and troops will keep on complaining that they don't have enough weapons. We didn't have the gunships before, they came in, wrecked havoc and the terrorists adapted, they've not really changed the situation on ground beyond killing more terrorists. If we are not careful, we will keep killing and our boys will be getting killed for years to come.
Foreign AffairsRe: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by Whyem15: 8:55am On Jun 14, 2020
If the Nigerian military is serious about ending this insurgency, they have to be actively and constantly developing new tactics, counter tactics to counter the terrorists tactics and then counter tactics to counter the terrorists counter to their own tactics. We have to be miles ahead of them.
Take for example, the idea of the super camps, it has been effective in making sure that these terrorists don't capture cities and towns but the terrorists have changed their objectives to counter that strategy, they avoid those super camps, attack wherever they want and disappear before troops can be deployed from the super camps. They've been using this to get more revenues that they will use in recruiting and purchasing new weapons. The tactics of the super camp has been countered and a new tactic has to be developed to make sure that the terrorists don't achieve their current objectives (getting funds to rearm and restrentghen)
If we are not careful, in few months time they will be attacking with anti-tanks and manpads. These weapons are for sale around us. Recently watched a video where a journalist interviewed a young Libyan selling weapons at his house, when asked who he sells this weapons to, he said to people who wants to defend their families from terror attacks yet this guy had rpgs and motar rounds for sale! Arms trade is one of the most popular businesses in Libya right now.

Repelled cool They wear saying it aloud that they'll be back.

This is where I always fault the military if it is against our security ethics to chase them.
There are smart and experienced people among these terrorists too. After being chased several times by troops, I'm sure they would have planned for the possibility of being chased in this attack. Like mining the route they would escape through and reserving some of their forces to ambush whoever is pursuing them.
The airforce/Army Air wing should be in charge of pursuing these terrorists. Just imagine the havoc and Mi-35 armed with just rockets will wreck on their retreating columns(they will surely want to retreat orderly and in groups so as to avoid being easy pickings for troops on mop up operations)
Does anyone know whether the payment for the remaining MI35 helicopters is included in the budget? I heard they are ready for delivery.

https://www.urdupoint.com/en/amp/world/russia-finishes-order-for-7-mi-35-helicopters-814472.html

I think this is why this administration has not been looking towards Russia for weapons procurement.
The contract for the first 12 Mi-35Ms came before the U.S. put a new sanctions law into place. That law, the Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act (CAATSA), places sanctions on the Russian defense industry, as well as customers of Russian defense firms. While the U.S. has offered some countries waivers to enable them to procure Russian military equipment, Abuja is leery of getting ensnared in the sanctions regime.

Pounding and pounding of Terrorist is not enough to end them, it's just a phase cos sponsors of terrorism don't get tired neither do the terrorists. Terrorists can be weakened and degraded through pounding but you can't kill all of them and that's why they can always comeback..The only thing that can end bokoharam for good is BORDER SECURITY which denies them the ability to wield weapons even if their sponsors have all the money in the world and no matter how desperate the terrorists themselves are.

We need to militarise all parts of the Nigerian borders with Niger, chad and about 70% of the northern Cameroonian border which should be about 2500km while Customs should be made to secure the remaining part of our borders.

10 super camps with about 3000 soldiers in each should be positioned at the border area with each camp assigned with the responsibility to monitor and secure 250km length..A camp should have about 25 teams 24hrs on guard with each team consisting of 5 military vehicles (10 men per vehicle) and a small drone which monitors a 10km stretch..And if possible a fire support platform like 1 gunship and 1 A200 Guided MRLS in each camp.
With these not even a needle would pass through the border unnoticed.
We need to shift the battlefield away from our internal territory to the borders which is wiser, safer, easier, cheaper, and better.

A measure like this would put an end to bokoharam, banditry and minimise armed robbery and kidnapping..
A simple fence 5m high with ditch and barbed wires around it is far less costly and will be more effective in my opinion. Just few troops will be needed near the walls to man towers and to respond to threats of breaches. We should learn from Israel and China regarding this. China even employ technology to detect perimeter breach and then deploy troops to the location of the breach. And this approach will solve more than just the insurgency and insecurity.
The cost of deploying and maintaining 30,000 troops to border towns will be enormous for just a single year.
But sadly there are many powerful people who benefit from smuggling and who will make sure this doesn't happen.

lol it's funny you guys think US allies are against the US. You don't have knowledge about the decades long alliance between America and Europe. Forget this talks in the end what Iran wants is Economic sanctions to be lifted and the weight of USA sanctions can NEVER be remedied even by a host of Nations like EU. They can keep buying arms from Russia and China lol by the time they hit economic rock bottom the people may revolt and enact regime change which is something the US is happy with.

what deal? You mean the worst deal of all time lol. Obama gave these guys hundreds of billions of dollars through executive privilege. No Congress. And after all that money and lifting of sanctions they weren't any guarantees that Iran wasn't gonna stop enriching uranium and also stop their sponsorships of chaos and militias in the middle east! These guys have been sponsoring Hezbollah and Houthi rebels in Yemen for decades now. Trump's impulsiveness is what made him order the killing of Soleimani who has been on Bush and Obama's watchlist since but it was only gonna take a man with guts to pull the trigger. Iran is not yet ready to breathe, its so fucccing easy, stop being a fucccing nuisance!!
Obama didn't give anyone hundreds of billions of dollars. He fulfilled the US obligation to the deal which stated that US will unfreeze some of Iranian government's assets frozen (illegally) by the US government during the years following the Islamic revolution.
Of the $120 billion Iranian assets frozen by the US, only $30 billion was released to Iran in the deal. They only gave Iran parts of Iran's money that they stole.
Even the US and British governments sponsors rebels in other countries, so why should Iran be vilified for it?
The assassination of Soleimani while on diplomatic mission is a reckless criminal act. And that was why the US had no justification to respond to the bombing of it's bases in Iraq. Everyone knew Trump went too far with that.
It's funny how some people see Iran as the devilish country and Saudi Arabia as the country worthy of praise and support.
Some people really do not deserve to be addressed.

Paranoia
An unrealistic distrust of others or a feeling of being persecuted. Extreme degrees may be a sign of mental illness.
Paranoia is the irrational and persistent feeling that people are 'out to get you'.
A psychotic disorder, characterized by delusions of persecution, conspiracy and perceived threat against the person often associated with false accusations and general mistrust of others.

Point is, no one here hates you. We like what you do and want to see you improve. Some night be judgmental because of issues in the past but still they have good intentions towards you. We all want to see you grow and reach your goals for the blog and we offer help in the way of advice. It is entirely up to you to take the advice.

let us at least wait till he WINS the Election
NIGERIA is not Biden's priority right now.
Unlike what happened with PAKISTAN and IRAN
Nigeria is not secretly developing Nuclear Weapons.
Nigeria is not holding Americans hostage .
Two entirely different scenarios
Good luck Jonathan and Obama as the years go by had an actual distaste for one another and Obama was listening fervently to the Left wing of the State Dept
The situation in the US is very different now
NA Troops wield Made in America Sniper Rifles.
All 12 PLANES + equipment + logistics will be delivered
Starting next month NAF Pilots depart for the US.
It helps to focus on the positive sometimes , instead of always on the negative.
The same congress that approved it can also place a ban on it's delivery. All they need is a claim of human rights abuse and concerns over military attacks on IDP camps.

Being a super power isn't about the numbers of millitary bases you have around the world or numbers of aircraft carriers. It is about how much you can influence the world whether through military, economic or political means.
With today's technology, aircraft carriers and foreign military bases are not very useful. China doesn't need aircraft carriers or a base in either Canada or Mexico before they can attack the US. Iran is surrounded on all sides by US bases yet the country's influence in the region keeps getting stronger. Iran is now a regional power in the middle east and they even attacked a US base in Iraq recently.

Okay
Just watch Amanpour's interview with Jared Kushner. CNN align themselves with anti Zionists like Ilhan Omar. You can be Jewish and hate Israel, Ted Turner and Bernie Sanders are examples.
Also, if I say that the Chinese are to blame for the virus, of course I'm not referring to the billions of Chinese civilians, I'm referring to the Chinese communist ruling class. Same applies to the Palestinians, the average Palestinian wants peace and a normal life, but the terrorists they have in government want death to Israel.
First of, provide evidence to the bolded. Even if it is true, which it isn't, there is nothing wrong with being against an ideology. Zionism is just like Nazism and wahabism. They are all ideologies and people hate them. It is legal.
Bernie Sanders and Ted Turner don't t hate Israel, They hate the policies of the Israeli government. None of them have ever claimed they hate Israel nor has there words pointed towards hatred of the Israeli people. There is a wide difference between the two.
Your use of semantics is very poor. Next time be totally clear with your words.
Chinese-- a native of china
Chinese government -- those at the helm of affairs in China
Palestinians-- natives of palestine
Palestinian government -- those at the helm of affairs in Palestine.
Those words are not synonymous and can't be used interchangeably. It is people like you who will call Muslims terrorists, blacks criminals, and Africans backwards and corrupt people.
The post and the comment you quoted wasn't talking about the Palestinian government, it was talking about Palestinian people and most especially Palestinian children, you quoted it and claimed the "Palestinians are terrorists" that's racism.
As for the interview you referred me to, are you referring to these

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oO9BP6KGHeA
You better not be referring to this. Because in the entire interview, not a single word was said that would have painted Israel bad, in fact it is the contrary, Jared kushner kept on calling the Palestinians irrational people.
Better not make a joke of yourself and find another video from CNN that is a propaganda designed to make people hate Israel.

Just read the first few sentences and I couldn't help but laugh. For the record, I don't hate anybody, especially not the Palestinian people, heck, I have never met a Palestinian and I don't think I'm to come to the negotiation table. Instead, Iran paid hungry Palestinians to chant "Death to Israel, Death to America" along the streets of Israel and Palestine.
Just read the your last paragraph, I don't follow things blindly, I happen to do my own research, I was thought to love Obama from the cradle, now I know he was as incompetent as the word is spelt. I hated Israel once, that was when I was neck deep in CNN propaganda, then I expanded my horizons, followed on the facts, and I have come to see the light. You mustn't be a Christian to clearly see the bad faith actors in this conflict.
You labeled a whole nation (children and women included) as terrorists, I don't know what hate means if not that. Maybe you can explain why you think Palestinian children and women are terrorists so we can see things from your point of view.
You could as well provide evidence to your claim that Iran "paid Palestinians to chant death to Israel, death to America"
Also provide just one "CNN propaganda" that painted Israel bad and isn't a fact.
You've never met or interacted with any Palestinian yet you believe they are all terrorists. Don't you think that is racist?.
You claimed Palestinians are terrorists yet you want us to believe you don't hate them. If truly you believe they are terrorists, then we can deduce that you "like" terrorists.
It's laughable to think a media organization owned by a company created by a jew would run propaganda critical of Israel that will make the world hate Israel. I may be wrong though. Waiting for you to provide such propaganda that isn't a fact.
