lol I laughgrin, media & hearsay is quite different from real experience, if he hasn't been to Europe or US, then he shouldn't be making such argument

The US as they say is an overhyped country. How can you explain, the extreme poverty amongst its citizen, the wage gap difference between the rich and poor, humans living in gehttos just like Nigeria. And besides not all roads are tarred, you have bad roads too,.......... See i can Go on and on. The American Media has helped portray the US to be a paradise as a Sort, but in reality, life is harsh over there.

Do you also live in any of the European countries to know 100% that they are completely safe countries?
yes i live in Europe, not just any country, but the heart and heart beat of Europe. And i can tell you, i feel safe, guns are hard to comeby, i was never a night crawler, but here you can walk and use the trains whenever. I won't say it is 100% safe, but it is sure better than the US. Then you have the health insurance policy, the US is a no no for me.

He doesn't have to live in Europe to know about those valid points he made.

As for me, the US has never been a safe country, and it will never be until they do away with the guns

It's very obvious you are a senseless fellow, a nincompoop and a dust brain. You could have just shut ur trap of a mouth since you knew u didn't have an answer to my questions. But no,u need to display stupidity!. As u can see,the one that can properly comprehend has answered my question.Empty barrels make the loudest noise, next time think before u start typing. U must not reply everything, especially if u don't have an answer #thankGodsaymannobeGod #mumu

And this came out of a 2.1 graduate indeed?? SPEECHLESS.
The problem with the world is that everyone does not have a brain, but everyone does have a tongue.
Insulting and name-calling online say a lot about your intelligence. I need not say more.
I will not argue with you, because stupid people, will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

And just like Darwin said, ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge. Enjoy your spotlight.

For our brothers and sisters in germany doing there masters in computer science related field.

Please tell us about the difficulties associated with you guys coping on PROGRAMMING AND MATHS especially the programming part.

What is your advice for people comin for this related field ESPECIALLY those who have little or no knowledge of programming (our Nigerian universities no dey help matters at all)

Please this is VERY IMPORTANT
YOUR IDEAS PLEASE.

My small bits, it helped me and it may help you too,

1) Sign up on codeacademy, choose a path and complete it.
2) Look for books to compliment what you do not understand. ( Illegal: library genesis cool )
3) Practice(take up a small project (to do app) and code your way thru it, it may be a copy-paste work, but make sure you type every code.
4) Try and add some functionality to the code. This deepens your understanding of the concept
5) If you have issues, use google, stackoverflow.
6) Repeat step 2, 4, 5

If you have money, register at Pluralsight and choose your path.
Finally, you definitely will repeat step 2,4,5,6 should you register on any Video tutorial site. Youtube is good but it's really difficult filtering junk from hardcore stuff.
If you are interested in Web design, follow Traversy Media on youtube, he is good.

All in all, you need motivation, dedication, and discipline to scale thru.

NB: look for a friend to start the journey, it is always easier for two heads to crack a nut.

If u don't have an answer to my question, kindly take several seats and allow the ones that do to help out.

Please I need suggestions ASAP, I'm at the dilemma of choosing between Finland and Holland for my masters degree. Please I need comparison between the two country so as to make a right decision.

I would choose Netherlands, reasons
1). Good Weather
2). Friendly citizens
3). They know how to party grin
4). Large African community.(you will need this)
5). Beautiful ladies grin
6). The language is easier to learn
7). Chances of getting a job after Study(depends on what you studied).

And when you get there, do not call the whole country Holland. Some citizens don't like it. Holland is a province in the Netherlands.

Thanks for this inspiring piece
I' m a female computer science graduate(second class upper) with no experience except a 6months internship.
I would love to go for MS in information systems or information engineering because I don't really like coding and maths.
Please my question goes thus.
1)which school/city can u recommend as I don't have money to renew the blocked account in the following year?
2)Also I would love a city where I can get internship during my studies so as to gain some work experience
3) Is it only programmers that are in demand in Germany?what are the chances for other fields in IT?
4)I would appreciate if u think there are other courses that are good as well. Thanks and God bless.

You don't like coding and maths...HAHAHAHA.

Nigerian education is a joke. Please, when you come, don't say it loud that you hava a Bsc. in CSC and don't know how to code.

The answer to the question.
The answer for the question.
The answer of the question.
Which is grammatical? What are the differences? And what is the preferred usage?

The answer to the question is the normal grammatical form.

https://english.stackexchange.com/questions/77297/answer-to-the-question-vs-answer-for-the-question-vs-answer-of-the-questi

Good to see that you are learning, but your English is still way off from perfection. Let us start with this quote

123JohnF:

Not true. The French Revolution started the changes inside of Europe and rebuilding the European countries. Colonies were some for England, some for Spain mostly yet the more organized countries are west and north Europe and they never were feeding themselves from colonies, Spain went down because of easy gold and money, English people got many colonies but not Germany, Denmark Sweden, Finland and Austria, Switzerland and Poland, etc. All those countries were poor yet building by themselves the wealth. On the north of Europe the climate is hard, not too much growing food yet the Europeans from the North are saying, we can grow food even sitting on the cold stones, not too many resources or food but the best is our people.

Another example is Japan, they don't have any resources yet it's a hard working people are more than gold, diamonds and oil, people makes countries big and wealthy. Talking about colonies wealth, it's just few countries did benefit of that. Most countries, you are right, were very poor and have a hard climate, no resources, cold winter, poor and deceases and yet
became clean and developed. If Nigeria was colonized by Britain, it doesn't mean Nigerians should invade Finland or Sweden or put a guilt about slavery on those countries who have nothing to do with Africa.

Now you are saying Nigerians have the right to invade other countries? It's what I am asking, why not starting to work hard for to make Nigeria great? Why always claimingthe slavery from any white person, many of us never had anything to do with Africa and slaves. Why this racism toward any white person to any country built by white people? Nigeria is rich in natural resources. Why not making Nigeria same as Dubai instead of complaining about the past ?

I do not usually do this, but I have to. The bolded need correction.

123JohnF:

So I can tell you that in contemporary American English, “the answer to this question” is proper and common usage. And that “the answer of this question” is perfectly understandable (and could be logical), but sounds awkward and unusual. I suspect that British English etc would be the same but defer to others on that.
https://www.quora.com/Which-is-correct-The-answer-to-this-question-or-The-answer-of-this-question

So Quora is now a quotable source for learning?

Nigeria is poor, YES.
Nigeria is filled with fraud, YES.
Nigeria is dirty, YES
Nigerians are immigrating, YES

Imagine, one of the wealthy countries built on Freedom, USA, Canada, Australia opens door to all Nigerians who want to move to live there. So many wish it, so many applying for visa and stay legal or illegal and, suddenly, the door is open and all Nigerians are welcome!
Imagine America, what would happen to America with millions and millions Nigerians coming? Will we be the same country? Will our politics be the same? or America becomes a 2nd Nigeria with all corruption, poverty and crime?
Imagine an African continent, not invaded by white colonialist, everyone living happily, hunting animals and feeding each other on farm produce they grow, No slave trade (Arab, European)
Imagine all the Gold, Tin, Oi...etc left untapped and Africans living happily in their mud houses.

Shallow thinking.... tongue

No offense but why? Why Nigerians want to immigrate to a developed wealthy country where the wealth was built by white people Can Nigerians build the developed and wealthy country, to be a law obedient citizens and contribute to make their own country better, stronger, wealthier and more developed? I am not talking about few well educated individuals but about the whole Nigerian group of people.

You actually sound like someone who is heartbroken, or bitter because a Nigerian like they say showed you pepper.
Go and read your history properly, Nigerians are not the only immigrants who leave mother Africa, other nationalities also migrate into the continent. Do you know how many Asians are living and working in Africa? Do you know how many Americans are living and working in Europe?
People immigrate for a different reasons, your argument is very shallow if you think Nigerians immigrate to only wealthy countries

And if Nigerians are so intelligent, smart and active, why not making Nigeria great? America had her hard times and still has, melting pot of so many people of all nations and race yet it looks the English system, law, made it work, same Australia, Canada, New Zeland, even South Africa. White people frequently called stupid and mumu by Nigerians and are scammed by Nigerians yet why? Those stupid mumus live better than so many intelligent and smart Nigerians? And what would happen if we have open doors and have Nigerians in politics, business, banking, education system, etc.

No offense but why Nigerians want to come to where the white people built the safe system? Why Nigerians being so smart and intelligent don't build better and bigger country Nigeria?

As I said, you sound bitter. A word of advice, admit that you feel bitter. You've got to know it's there and face it in order to leave it behind.
No offense.

I will not to get in any semantics discussion with you. We are different and we have different background, so it's normal you don't understand me. Yet don't take this topic to 1 word "if" or another small word used by me. Show your own knowledge and opinion about Nigeria and Nigerian people, travels and immigration, why abroad, why not at home, etc.

Make some valuable statement or show your knowledge, give your ideas. What are you doing know, it's a waste of time and it is useless.

Honestly, I have been reading your thread and the replies therein, but what you want to pass across doesn't sound coherent(no offense). In Nigeria, English is the official language, if someone tries to understand what you mean semantically, it is because he actually doesn't understand what you are trying to buttress. And since English is also not your first language, I see no reason why you should take offense, should someone try to question your use of it. Even this post I quoted, I am still trying to decode its entire meaning

NB: Nigeria is a country filled with several ethnic groups with different languages, values beliefs. How many ethnic groups do you have in your country?
If you want to know why the country is such a mess today, you should have simply asked directly without comparing the country to YOUR western country.

Is cooking good morals? I am talking about good morals not duties/house chores. Both parents are supposed to train up their children, not only the mother. If the lady has character flaws, then both parents failed to train her well, or maybe she was influenced negatively from peers. I wonder what people gain rushing to blame women by all means.

The bone of contention here is kitchen etiquette, asking an elderly person to do dishes shows such a kid lacks kitchen etiquette.
And if you do ask your father to do his dishes after eating, then good for you.
Hopefully, your daughter will ask you to cook and wash their laundry for them, while they slay around. angry

I grew up in a home where boys and girls did their dishes, cooked, swept, did the cleaning of the house irrespective of gender all examples my father himself sets.
seven kids in the home, both mom and dad did everything and every chores to raise each properly, so the fact the husband refuses to fund his daughters education for such is stupid to me, I know it's wrong but punish her with something else not her education.
I can imagine the dirty slap my dad will give you for not washing your plates or help in the kitchen because you saw three girls relaxing when they deserved it lol your brain will remember gender equality for the house.
I hope to raise my kids this way, a woman is not a slave nor a servant, fact is put her in that position to get money for the family and she will do it, so why can't you help when you can, take sometime cook for her, do the dishes, bath the kids, I am a guy I already know alot about raising a kid seeing my dad do same for me and the others.

this is not feminism it's the real truth, a woman is your partner, your second half not some equipment to achieve your aim.

Did you read the op's post at all, or you could not comprehend the post?

You guys' responses are exactly why so many Nigerian kids are not as close to their parents as the should be. You guys are so consumed by your god complexes that you don't realize that your behaviour gradually alienates your kids and makes them even less likely to ask you for stuff.

Be truthful to yourselves: most of you would rather ask your friends and colleagues for stuff before you ask your parents. How is that a healthy parent-child relationship? You guys have no idea what the difference is between a healthy relationship between parent(s) and child and disrespect.

Later it's the same you guys that would be asking your kids "why didn't you ask me? Why did you ask other people and not me?"

Continue perpetuating the same unhealthy dynamic with your own kids o. I hope it pans out well for y'all.

Like seriously, how old are you?
Do you have a family/parent or you grew up in an Orphanage home?
I am truly amazed and ashamed of your thought pattern.

The spoilt brat needs to be disciplined thoroughly, feminism does not encourage women to be disrespectful to their husbands, that is why some feminist are happily married. Because the mother is against the man stopping payment of fees does not mean the child copied bad attitude from her mother. You should know how some mothers are, she is more worried how the daughter will cope without money, and is less worried about the need to discipline their daughter.

If the mother had done a proper job on her daughter, the daughter would not be rude and spoilt to bite and be arrogant to the finger that is feeding her.

This is even common sense, you should be loyal and grateful to your benefactors, so long your pride and dignity are intact.
