But USA student visa is extremely costly.
The only reason I considered Germany in first place is their free education.
After studies and saving some money, I will target moving to USA, Canada, Australia or Switzerland for my PhD.
I heard those countries pay very well (almost double what is paid in Germany ) with lesser tax

The USA may have lesser Tax, but the standard of living, healthcare, unemployment security I don't think so.
Besides, what is good for the geese may be bad for the gander.
But don't come to Germany with high hopes of raking in thousands of Euro when studying. Can you remove Switzerland from your wish list, I won't advise you to go there as a Student, But should you get a job offer, you can take it. That is IF you get one.

Thank you for being among the few ones that speak the truth despite the gender involved.
Most Nigerian men are just woman pleasers always bias in their judgment

Dude, I am not attacking or supporting anyone here, I am just stating my opinion based on what I have experienced. We use the word kill a lot in pidgin, but that doesn't mean we actually mean it. Don't tell me you have not used it b4. Phrases like "I go kill am if I catch am", "meh the job dey kill body sha".

And besides everything shouldn't be about gender.

Is it possible to save like 10,000 euros every year while doing my MSc in Germany?

I really wanna save lots of money, so that even before the end of my MSc in Germany, I don get plenty money for account. I plan to overwork myself during summer holidays and save lots of money.
Education ain't my main reason of planning to go to Germany, making money is my number one reason I wanna leave this shitthole. I wanna visit home after my studies smelling money money before going back to keep hustling for more

If you want to make Money, sorry to burst your bubble DE is the wrong country to come. May US would be a better option.

So much drama on this thread. It's not that deep grin

There's a difference between wishing someone death

I wish you die

And saying he'll end up killing himself (because of his unrealistic "goals".).

Of course I didn't imagine him dying, but rather him ending up being stressed. Let's not all act as if phrases like "Hopefully this exam doesn't kill me" or "This job will kuku not kill me" aren't hyperboles.

With that being said, here's a bitter fact

We're all gonna die someday whether you like it or not grin

Basalt or whatever his name is is just pissed grin

Chiiiiiilllll, because me that you're getting high blood pressure over is about to sleep like a baby now grin

You have to be careful with the word kill...... In Nigeria, we misuse that word, and most times we try to understand its meaning in context and not its literal meaning, Germans don't. I nearly got my self put in a Psychiatric clinic just because I used the phrase with a kill in it despite the fact I did not mean it. I learnt my lessons the hard way.

I don't know where you live but I have a different opinion as you. People from Bavaria are complex, difficult to please and only wants themselves to be heard. Have you ever tried to present the attitude of Bavarians to themselves and then they would call you aggressive or whatever comes out of their mind. They are hard working I must confess. The more North you go, the more accommodating Germans you would find.
You are right about Bavarians been complex, They are because Bavaria itself is complex. I live in the Franken region, where the people are conservative and difficult to understand. A friend once told me dealing with them is like comparing Oranges and Coconuts. Getting into the soft region of an Orange is quite easy, but once you get in, you suck the Orange fast and throw the seeds away, unlike Coconuts. It is hard to crack a Coconut, but when you do, you do enjoy the Nuts inside without disposing of any seed.
He simply described them (Bavarians) as Coconuts, but once you crack them, they are very reliable and trustful to have as friends

I guess I'd go with Canada. I know English. I've been to the US, so it seems closer to me. But you can compare those two countries by reading about them here.
What do I like about Canada? It's nature for sure. I like that it is close to States. I like people.
Germany to me is a cold country. But I've never been there. Those are just impressions of my friends who traveled there.

Hahaha, Germany is warmer than Canada if you cold means weather and not the people.

Thanks for your honest opinion... Is language a requirement to get into their MSc programme??

I know a friend who took that route, kind of lost contact with him. But from what he told me then, language was not a requirement. However, the programme is not free.

This seems quite untrue. However, as a medical doctor Australia should be the best shot. They are many Indians and Arabs who were trained in their respective countries and practicing in Germany. A little google search will clear your doubts

My opinion is based on first hand experience. I have met indians as nurses and Lab technicians, but have never come across an Indian as Hausartzt or Hauptartzt. I won't translate those terms because they sound ridiculous in English.

Since you have made adequate research and have your proofs and facts. The best you should have done is to rebut my perceived false information with your facts.

I still stand by my opinion, it is easy for a camel to pass through an eye of a needle than practicing medicine in Germany as an African trained Doctor.

https://www.praktischarzt.de/blog/gastarzt/

Read up the link above and compare the requirements with other countries like the US and UK, or even Australia.
However, to every rule, there is an exception. If you happen to be the best in your field, a specialist and your specialization area is in high demand, you get to an offer to practice.

Honestly, it's been a nice thread so far. One needs to just broaden one's horizon and stop living by the stereotypes created by people.

Virtually everyone in my profession is going the plab way probably because of the ease of getting into uk and practicing medicine. I'll just like to know what Europe has to offer for international medical graduates who wish to practice in Europe (with the exception of the plab route).

Cc erico2k2, Hadampson and ottesberger

In Germany, it is unlikely, if not impossible to practice medicine, if you are not trained here. There is nothing like plab or some kind of certifications for foreign-trained doctors.
The best you can get here is public health(Msc), or learn the language and apply to be a nurse. So far I have only seen and met one African (Nigerian), Doctor. He studied it here and speaks flawless German.

My 2cents, Medince in Germany is an elite profession, with a series of complicated bureaucratic process.

on the contrary, German educational system is some how discriminatory and tough especially for those coming from Ox/Cambridge grading system. Germany separates children as early as 10years old into Hauptschule, Realschule and Gynamsium. 60% usually fail(Abitur) WAEC.

Most German universities don't give CA. 100% exam. You need 90 to 95% to get 1.0 while Ox/Cambridge system gives you an A with 70%

Despite free education, Germany has the lowest number of graduates among G8 nations, 26% graduates by many statistics. One in every 3 abandons studies between 1 to 2 years in the University

The bottom line is, the German educational system makes an average student struggling to pass
You are right with the grading system, I particularly find it annoying. How can you give someone with 70% grade a 3.0? That is more or less an A.
And I can tell you, as an African, you just have to work hard to earn those grades, since some exams are usually oral. ( if you used to la cream la pour), this is a whole new challenge.

@Hadampson, I just want to correct your misconception about student loans. Don't say in Germany that such do not exist, because it does. If you are in Germany then you should have heard about BAfög, which is a kind of soft loan given to Germans who do not have wealthy parents and want to study. The loan is only accessible if your parents are low earners and you have to pay back once you start working. So student loans do exist in Germany, it may not be as high as what is obtainable in Canada or the USA, but a loan is always a loan. Punkt.

Sometimes, i wonder how dem German construct a sentence sef... Take these sentences below for example

Ich Koche dir heute das Essen

Heute Koche ich dir das Essen

dir Koche ich heute das Essen

das Essen Koche ich dir heute

If you look at these sentences, you will see that they all the same meaning. What i don't understand is this? how do they construct sentences?

You know in English language, the sentence pattern goes like this..... Subject + verb + object

The only thing i know that is constant in German sentences is the verb. Verb is always at the 2nd position.

From your experiences and what you understand very well, can you kindly put me through please?

cc: DisturbingEU willy2000

Sorry, I got banned by the spambot, so, for now, I will not type in German anymore.
Since you are still learning, make sure your Verbs is always in the second position, but this is not always the case. Verbs can take the first position when the sentence is a question and you are not using the 5WH words. Verbs are also flipped to the end of the sentence when using some subordinate clause. And take note only Nouns are written in capitals between sentences. So the verb you used up there should be in small letters.

Haha i didn't see this.
May you can appeal to seun to add German to his spambots language, otherwise it will keep hiding and banning you......... I wanted to do this sometime ago, I got frustrated.

I hope it will not see this. " dein Satz ist falsch" du hast kein Verb benutzt, und auch macht es keinen Sinn, wenn man solcher Satz schreibt, wie kann ein Land man behandelt. It is always the first challenge for English speakers. when you literally translate to German, most times the verbs are very tricky.

What is a noun?

A noun is a naming word for a living being, thing or idea, for example, woman, happiness, Andrew. German nouns change, according to their gender, case and number. This is called declension.

GENDER: Using nouns

Unlike in English, where nouns almost always reflect natural gender (that is, the sex of the noun determines its gender, e.g., father, man, and boy are masculine; mother, woman, and girl are feminine; and hand, table, and friendship are neuter), all German nouns have grammatical gender. A noun can be masculine, feminine, or neuter, regardless of its natural gender. For example... der Mann (The Man)
das Mädchen (The girl)
die Person (The person)

The definite article der(the) designates a masculine noun, die designates a feminine noun, and das a
neuter noun. For example der Junge, die Frau, das Bild

Nouns that refer specifically to male beings, such as father and uncle, are usually masculine. Those that refer to female beings, such as mother and daughter, are usually feminine.

However, nouns referring to things are not always neuter; they can also be masculine or feminine.

For this reason, the gender of each
noun must be memorized and the best way
to do it is to learn it with its article. You will find that this will pay off in the long term.
der Teppich (The carpet)
die Zeit (The time)
das Bild (The picture)

###
>Whenever you are using a noun, you need to know whether it is masculine, feminine or neuter as this affects the form of other words used with it. Such as:

*Adjectives that describe it
*Articles(such as der or ein)that go before it
*Pronouns(such as er or sie)that replace it

>We refer to something as singular when we are talking about just one, and as plural when we are talking about more than one.The singular is the form of the noun you will usually find when you look a noun up in the dictionary. As in English, nouns in Cerman change their form in the plural.

die Katze cat -------- die Katzen cats

>Adjectives, articles and pronouns are also affected by whether a noun is singular
or plural. So take note of that

Guten Morgen leute.

It is good to learn the theoretical part, but to be honest with you. The easiest and best way of learning the language fast is by immersion.
I learnt German in Nigeria to B1 but when I came here, I had no confidence to speak, because you are not taught how to speak fast.
Once you get here the speed the language is used will take you off, but you then have to build confidence over time.
Just my opinion, from experience, too much grammar rules sometimes hinder you from speaking fluently. But each to his own. Learn what works for you and use it.
You learn pronunciation by repetition, so lay more emphasis on grammar rules and sentence structure, then build your vocabulary.

German sentences are usually "time, manner, place."

Ich denke "du bist ein Glücklich glücklicher bruder"
when you literally translate from English to German it is as the above, but glücklich becomes an adjective so you have to declinate it.
A native speaker would just say, Du hast Glück, Brüder.

Not to sound mean, but we are all learning...... what you meant to write here is how are you? I hope you slept well last night.
This should be written in past tense. So the right sentence should be.

Wie geht's dir? " ich hoffe, dass du gut geschlafen hast?" or make it short "hast du gut geschalfen? "

Breakfast at the hotel. That's the only meal they serve here.
Meanwhile I observed the scarcity of black people in this city.
Unlike Amsterdam, immediately we arrived Frankfurt Airport, there were practically no blacks. Even when we went to the main shopping street at Zeil, something like Idumota/Broadstreet, we could count blacks on our finger tips.
Then, in this hotel, with over 50 guests that came down for breakfast, we were the ONLY blacks.
We are already feeling like exotic species here. Lol

The bolded is so untrue, Frankfurt has a very large population of Africans/Nigerians compared to other smaller cities. The main reasons you don't get to see them is because they are all working at the time you are sightseeing. If you want to feel exotic try visit any smaller village in Bayern. Then you will know what it is and feels to be exotic grin. Anyway, hope you have fun and be warm.

Exactly my point. Its an individual thing
In as much as I really don't like posting here. But I just couldn't take the way you reacted to op. Yes, experience with an airline is an individual thing, but from my own experience, I am with the op on this. My first flight with royal air maroc was a nightmare. They have terrible service, if you don't speak French or Arabic you are on your own. I also nearly missed my flight from Casablanca due to their error. I was just lucky to have asked around and I was directed accordingly.

Let us stop painting what is not as if it is. I was also told by immigration officials that I was lucky to have my luggage at the time of arrival. Well, it seems to be their trademark if such situation is well known by airport officials. And I can bet with my left balls, you don't get compensated if your luggage is delayed.

Well, I have promised myself never to fly with them again, I even advise my friends and family not to.
So Mr. we know they offer cheap flights compared to the rest but their service is awful, what I find irritating is ignoring you at Casablanca if you don't speak French or Arabic. That is a total turn off for me.

I am moving out of here very soon.

What do you often cook apart from Nigerian dishes? I am tired of rice and bread every glorious day. In fact I am tired of chicken. Fellow housemates have mocked me tire each time I fry chicken (Chicken again or rice everyday? embarassed) the fish skinny fishes in Lidl costs €4.99 for two.

Henceforth no charity again. Every fruit stays in the room.

Welcome to Deutschland, I was like that in the beginning, I ate only rice and stew, bread(American bread) and tea, then potatoes and spaghetti,
After about 3 Months I did not like what I saw in the mirror.
This is how my daily meal looks like.
Morning: I take oat and Joghurt with coffee/ bread and eggs with coffee; you can take this interchangeably
Afternoon: Something heavy, Rice and stew with meat/chicken/pork. or if I have egusi soup, Eba/gries/poundo yam.
Evening: I avoid eating much. vegetable salad or some hard german bread with cheese on it. or Just fruits.
If you are the very active type and not always at home switch evening meal with dinner but avoid eating heavy meals after 20 pm.
You can also add some protein shakes in between, it helps.
I really don't eat out, unless invited by friends.

Trust me, eating light for dinner will help you sleep well and read well..lol, not to talk about maintaining your six packs grin grin
