sapientia:I didn't make that up. It was discussed on CNN by renowned US medical experts. So ask yourself how did the health workers who contracted the virus get it. Didn't they wear mask be it N95 or surgical mask?? |
Before you speculate, Experts says wearing nose mask, only helps prevent an infected person from passing the virus, it does not prevent an uninfected person from contracting it. Hence social distancing and good hygiene is being advocated. This is also the reason people are now advised to wear nose mask. Hence, you may also look at it from the angle that Mr President is clean and doesn't want anyone meeting with him, to infect him with the virus. |
I was piqued by his remark after seeing the chat. However, I was going to say the young man threw his home training out of the window, but apparently he never had them after all. |
The reason is not far fetch. Fly over Niger Delta and view the waters, you will be appalled by the level of oil pollution in the water. The coastline is contaminated and covered with oil sheens. The government and regulatory agency are apparently not doing enough, likewise the Oil company and the host community are also culpable. Some of the community members sabotage and vandalize pipelines, obviously ignorant of the effect to their own environment. |
Story! That man wey like life. Show us video. |
Nairalandmonika:Very true vaccines are tested everywhere now, but the manner and context he made the remark clearly was derogatory which sparked the outcry. Overall, he apologized which shows that he had said something wrong. It's a known fact that Africans are considered less valued by the white, hence this skepticism and apprehension when they talk about trial here when the epicenter is at their end. Also remember the Pfizer vaccination case in Kano, which resulted in injuries and death. If the government was proactive they should have vetted the drug to ensure it was safe for trial on its citizen, like the US is does on drugs thru the FDA. So people here don't trust the system to safeguard them in times like this and are reluctant to give themselves for trials, hence the outcry. |
Nairalandmonika:I appreciate you understand and obviously more informed than us, as you claim. However, your defence for them makes no sense, If famous French speaking Africans, like Football star Didier drogba, Samuel Etoo Fil, Demba and the peripatetic public speaker Professor Lumumba amongst others, have bluntly condemned and spoke out against it. Moreso, the doctor has apologized as quoted below, “I want to present all my apologies to those who were hurt, shocked and felt insulted by the remarks that I clumsily expressed on LCI this week. " https://zaddypost.com/french-doctor-apologize-for-saying-coronavirus-drug-to-be-tested-in-africa/ Hence, I don't understand why you holding brief for them, trying to paint us as been ignorant and not well informed and your claim that the video was edited. |
Very impressive Mr Speaker. It's high time African leaders especially Nigerian leaders, stood up and protect their citizens, else other countries will continue to lookdown and disrespect us. |
Nairalandmonika:What do you mean?? Africa should have jumped up in joy and applaud the racist French doctor for the trial proposal in Africa?? Do you know how much vetting the Isreali's Govt. Must have done to approve the test of the Japanese drug on her citizens? Our leaders can't be trusted to vet the trial drug to international required standard. Our leaders are corrupt, lack integrity and can't be trusted. You may as well volunteer yourself and family to those French doctors for the trial.... |
Absolutely true!! |
Change your men's attitude and behavior. The skit showcases what people actually see and experience in the hand of NA. |
Hoodbilonia:Oya commot mouth for their matter na, go your CAC, RCCG, Winners or Cele church |
No nonsense Ambassador. A very good one. That's how a leaders should behave, defend your citizen unconditionally. I'm sure they won't dare seize a passport illegally when the man is still there. |
I'd advise we take this remark from the Governor with a pinch of salt. According to expert in the USA, who were featured on CNN, to talk about this issue of mask wearing, the general consesus is that, mask wearing only prevents an infected person from spreading the virus and doesn't protect a non-infected person from contracting same. The best recommended practice is to wear mask, maintain social distance and good hygiene at all times. God help us. |

FocusedDiva:I don't think so. How about Italy? How do explain their situation. I think it's more to do with the poor, unhealthy lifestyle of the blacks in these countries. They are the poorest amongst the race and more susceptible to ailment like diabetes, obesity, etc due to the unhealthy living and lack of access to adequate healthcare. These makes them more vulnerable to the virus. |
So, amidst this coronavirus pandemic you still have the time to worry about 2023 and who the ticket should go to. You ain't even sure yet of seeing the end of 2020. I'd advice you channel your energy and time into something more useful, or better still on how to stem this virus in Nigeria, than worry over this frivolity at this time. |
Very good analysis. His use of data from reputable sources/country, gives credence to it. My people please this is no joke. Let's join hands together to stem the virus, by heeding to the stay home advice and maintaining good hygiene. USA, apparently didn't take it seriously at it's early stage, which obviously has resulted in the situation they are now. The earlier we adhere to the order/best practice, the earlier we would have a grip on it. In all, a very educative and helpful information from this fella. |
After looting billions he is giving back millions. He should payback with interest all he stole and deprived the the people from. Thief!! |
omoiyamayor:Jeez!! This is absolutely unnecessary. |
Inconsequential!! |
I guess you were trying to say ceded and not seeded as in planting a seed... |
O boy it's too early to rejoice. I remember vividly when theirs and the US cases were in hundreds, now its in tens of thousands. Let's hope and pray our government do the right thing and have a good grip on it, else.... However, our prayers and thought are with the affected ones and those who lost their loved ones globally. |
Ezekosolo:Lols abeg which sms, abi na audio. I haven't received any sms on the preventive measures. I use, MTN and Airtel. |
His recovery seem unusually fast. Anyhow, congrats to him and I wish him well |
abobote:Exactly my thought. What is special to applaud. Is this not same thing others are doing/have done in their states?? You can't get people to stand on their feet for achieving a mundane task like this. Every sensible governor in the world is doing this. |
Joining the NA is a career I will never advice anybody to pick. I empathize and feel sorry for these guys, because the Senior Officers are playing games with their lives for their own selfish gain. Worst still, the Govt has not shown any will to investigate and change the narrative. However, the soldiers tend to lose my sympathy, whenever I hear or read about how they flex their muscles on Unarmed Civilians. |
[s] Biafran4life:Crap!!!!! Your submission is warped by your obvious dislike for your fellow country men/Igbos. Tell me how we would suceeed with this kind of mindset.?? |
Bashir was wrong on this. The guy's plant is for cars, I believe to make the ventilators some modification needs to be made and of course with cost implication. The guy has to be sure of market/demand before going into it. The automakers in the US (GM, Ford et al), were asked by Govt to make the ventilators. |
Maybe because we didn't have the so called legislators and the humongous amount of money budgeted for them. With the huge amount allotted to the legislators alone, I strongly believe you can execute the aforementioned project. |
