This 2014 thread has become relevant today as Senator Bola Tinubu is seeking to be elected president of Nigeria.

From this report we can see Senator Tinubu's political philosophy and style and how he rose to become a behemoth in Nigerian politics today.
PoliticsRe: Why Tinubu Will Lose To Osinbajo In APC Primaries by wirinet(m): 1:00pm On Apr 16, 2022
NaijaCowFarm:
Leadership is not a popularity contest - Adams Oshomole

It is not arguable that Tinubu has a very large political structure. It is also not arguable that Tinubu can defeat Osinbajo in an Open Ballot system, but APC primaries are not going to be an open ballot system where people queue behind their candidates, rather it is going to be an Open-Secret Ballot system. In an open-ballot system, once I vote against you, you know, so I will be reluctant to vote another after assuring you or collecting your money. However, in an Open-Secret ballot, I can assure you that I will vote for you, collect your money yet vote my "heart".

Now on the day of the APC primaries, these are the facts that would be very clear:

Tinubu is too old to govern effectively: With the hindsight of Buhari's challenges, APC would rather go for a younger and much healthier candidate than an old and sick Tinubu. This is a clear advantage that Osinbajo would have. Most of the delegates would be easily swayed towards Osinbajo right inside the ballot cage, where they would thumb-print their ballot, fold it and come out openly to cast it in the ballot box. Mark you, it is going to be the same ballot box for all candidates, so you cannot know who was voted until the ballots are sorted and counted.

Tinubu's bad faith towards Ambode: The bad deed that Tinubu did to Ambode is still fresh in the minds of the governors, both single-term and second-term governors. it is on record that the governors overwhelmingly rejected the direct primaries simply because Tinubu and his men in NASS arranged to have them treated like Ambode. moreso, it was reported that the APC governor's forum led by Atiku Bagudu (who is still in charge by the way), went to Tinubu's residence in Abuja to beg and prostrate to the Jagaban to allow Ambode to complete his tenure, but baba shuns them. Now, he is running after the same Bagudu, even going to the Kebbi Lodge to beg then. They are sure to require their pound of flesh on behalf of Ambode.

Religious sentiments: Since 2015 Nigeria has been governed by a Muslim, Muhammadu Buhari. If another Muslim from the South takes over from Buhari in 2023, the Muslims would have had another 8 years, making a total of 16. Now when power returns to the North, obviously another Muslim would take over for another 8 years. In total, the Muslims would be president from 2015 - to 2039, a whopping 24 uninterrupted years. That is NOT FEASIBLE. Hence, rational as the delegates are, they would avoid such a trap that would easily hand power back to the PDP. The delegates would rather vote for Osinbajo than Tinubu.

Running mate wahahala: We all recall the challenges that Buhari faced in choosing a running mate in 2015. Buhari was under pressure to avoid the Muslim-Muslim ticket in 2015, even with over 10 million Northern votes in the kitty. Tells that with a Tinubu's candidacy, it would be tougher for APC. Firstly, Tinubu does not have the cult following that Buhari commanded in 2015. Secondly, the North would never accept a Northern Christian VP, this is an unwritten law. Adopting such would mean FAILURE in the North. Hence the only option that Tinubu would have is a Muslim-Muslim ticket, which would FAIL woefully at elections. Even APC NEC would advise against such a move. The obvious alternative would be Osinbajo.

Unaccounted Baggages: Accountability is the acceptance of responsibility for one's own actions. It implies a willingness to be transparent, allowing others to observe and evaluate one's performance. Integrity is the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles; moral uprightness. Measured on these two words, Osinbajo would beat Tinubu by a clear distance. Firstly, Tinubu has held Lagos to a stranglehold for the past 23 years. He has made sure that his son controls all the key revenue-generating sectors of the state, the numerous toll gates, etc. His daughter controls all the markets in Lagos, his son-in-law is in NASS, and his wife is a senator for life, he receives 10% tithes from Lagos State. These are baggages that Nigeria's state cannot accommodate. Even now, he has closed NURTW in Lagos and handed it over to his cronies. Is this the type of person that Nigeria wants to give power over the nation and national treasury and power?
Responsible delegates would avoid such a person because, when push goes to shove, Nigerians would be better off without such baggages. Hence the Osinbajo appeal would suffice.

Academic and foundational credence: Tinubu's state of origin, early education, age, and birth are all mysteries. Noone knows where he is from. Noone knows his father, no one knows where he got his first school leaving certificate nor his high school certificate nor diploma. All we hear is that he graduated from some University in the USA. There are those that say that his daughter is 61 years old while Tinubu is claiming 70 years old. That is a mystery too many to be overlooked. Hence Osinbajo would come as a sterling candidate to sell rather than a Tunubu with these baggages of unexplained mysteries.

Conclusion: Osinbajo would trounce Tinubu in APC primaries. However, APC may not form the next government, no matter who they field!
Please read this 2014 report of how Tinubu turn Lagos State into his personal estate like Leopold II of Belgium turned Congo into his personal estate. - https://www.nairaland.com/1866463/lion-bourdillion-bola-ahmed-tinubu

He wants to turn himself from king of Lagos to Emperor of Nigeria.

To me Anybody but Tinubu can be president.
My number one candidate is Amaechi because he is igbo, fearless, has political experience, built bridges across the Niger and loves Nigeria.

Even though I don't mind Yemi Osinbanjo, I feel that Yorubas should give other southerners the opportunity to aspire for the highest office. They have held the presidency and vice presidency for a total of 16 years out of the 23 years in this 4th Republic.

I also would not mind peter Obi, but i doubt PDPbeing held in a stranglehold by Wike and Atiku would allow him win the primaries. And I don't think PDP can win the presidential election at this time.

Another southerner that should be looked into is former president Jonathan. I am sure he must have learnt his lesson. This time he should ge tougher on corruption and not marginalise the Yorubas in his appointments. The only problem is he has no platform to run. PDP or APC would accept him as their presidential candidate.

The people below did not gather because of someone's popularity but they gathered because of what they were promised....a cup of rice. grin grin The same reason theses fools are gathering here today.
This is the reason I conclude that democracy cannot work in a poor and illiterate society. Poor people are only after stomach infrastructure, while the illiterate are swayed by irrational emotional sentiments. They don't understand or care about truly altruistic reason like welfare of others and patriotism.
In the original Greek concept of democracy, only the elites and intellectuals that were qualified to vote, as it did not trust the poor illiterate masses to make inform decisions about leadership.

Nonsense. It is the turn of south and let everyone interested from south contest and see who win
And its only Yoruba that is in the South.
And its only Ogun (and Lagos) that is in South West.

Imagine, in the 23 years of the 4th Republic.
Obasanjo from Ogun was President for 8 years.
Osibanjo from Ogun was Vice president for 8 years
Now Tinubu from Lagos (although they say he is actually from Osun) and Yemi Osibanjo from Ogun is angling to rule for another 8 years.

Not even minding that Dimeji Bankole (another Ogun citizen) and Femi Gbajamiamila (Lagos) were speaker house of representatives for 4 years respectively.

Is it only Yoruba that are in the South? And is it only Ogun that must appropriate all political offices allocated to the the Yorubas?
Can't an igbo man, an edo man or even another ijaw man rise to the presidency?

Jonathan was not even allowed to spend 8 years, meanwhile Buhari that is worse that Jonathan on all indices was allowed to complete 8 years.

Please note. I supported Buhari against Jonathan - my own ethnic brother.

Don't mind him making it about the igbos. It betrays his hatred for the igbos.

No tribe and I repeat no tribe likes Tinubu or what he represents. He represents the worst of Nigerian politics - Godfatherism, corruption, political violence and manipulation. But the elites of all tribes (except igbo elites) loves Tinubu. That is because he controls APC and they need his patronage couple with the fact that he bribes them with gifts and cash.

Where did tinubu make his billions? As an employee of Mobil? Mr Researcher.

You are not different from IPOB. You tribalise everything. Instead of you to debate intellectually, you turn everything to tribal hatred. For your information, the only Yorubas that love tinubu are the political and religious elites, traditional rulers and Agberos, who are on Tinubus pay roll. Most ordinary Yorubas hate Tinubu. Tinubu cannot win election in Yoruba land without rigging, thuggery, intimidation and political manipulation. He cannot even win elections in his Eti-Osa Local Government. The average Yoruba who suffer Tinubu's over taxation and Agberos feels emasculated and helpless.

Yaradua won the presidency was in consideration when he won the president from his sick bed in Germany.

Even Jonathan was not in consideration when he won the Vice president and the president two years later without any political base, even in his native Bayelsa.

This is what I call negativism. You take a negative view of life and only tend to see obstacles and excuses for failure.

Yes things are bad, but you make it worse that it actually is. lots of people are still making it legitimately.

Please read Vincent Norman Pearl's book "The Power of Positive Thinking" to change your outlook towards life.

Nasir123:
With the level of things happening in the Country already;
"Can a Legit hustling Nigerian make it 'Big' without involving in Fraud?"
Many many people make it without involving in fraud. I have 2 legitimate businesses and have never been involved with fraud. My wife owns an eatery business and have never been involved with fraud.

-[s]Ordinary to register for NIN.. you'll settle (bribe).[/s]
I registered for NIN without settling anyone. All the people I know registered for NIN without bribing anyone. You would need to bribe if you want the NIN urgently and want to bypass the system.

-Police.. you'll bribe
Agreed. But if you have the time to waste and money to spend on lawyers, you might not need to bribe the police.

-CAC...you'll bribe
Why will you need to bribe CAC, when you can do all your company registration online without interacting with any CAC official.

-Employment... you'll bribe
It depends on the type of jobs and your skills or qualifications. There are some jobs that require certain skillsets and qualifications that the employers are even the ones that will bribe you to work for them.
-Driving licence.. you'll bribe
Why will you bribe to obtain your drivers license? The reason you pay more than the official price is because agents are involved most times and because you want it done faster. The official waiting period is up to 3 months.
-Any small government contract/matters, you'll have to bribe.
Yes all governments are corrupt. Anyone who is not prepared to be corrupt or corrupted should avoid government contracts.
So,can it be possible to make it big in this Country as it is now without being Fraudulent?
If Yes' How?

Some of us will like to know pls.
So many people make it big without stepping a foot out of nigeria. In fact many people fail abroad and come back to Nigeria and succeeded. I know someone that did not make it in the UK after 10 years, he came back into this country and started selling okrika. Today he is worth billions in dollars.
PoliticsRe: Exposed: How Tinubu Destroyed Lagos! by wirinet(m): 6:37am On Apr 13, 2022
EastisBae:
There is a saying that when a lie is told severally, it will begin to look like the truth. Tinubu online urchins have been desperately lying to decieve gullible Nigerians about how tinubu made Lagos great but today, we would separate facts from fiction and truth from wicked propaganda.

Tinubu has made Lagos worse than it ordinarily should have been if he hadn't pressed his arthritis ridden leg on their necks. I will explain!

1. Lagos has always been the richest state in Nigeria since beginning of states. Even today, Lagos is still richer than all states in Nigeria including Abuja! Yet all these monies being generated in Lagos that should have been used in developing the state has been cornered by one man, his family and cronies! Lagos has been ranking as the second worst city to live in the world, back-to-back!

2. Cities that are same size with Lagos in Africa and generate same amount of revenue or even less all have better roads, good sanitation, pipe borne water, monorails and far better transportation system. Examples are Nairobi, Adis Ababa, Cairo, Rabat, J.bourg, Dar es Salam etc. However, in Lagos, most citizens particularly on the mainland live side-by-side with dirt and filth, most of them make use of unhealthy salty water in their homes because pipe borne water is non-existent, they wake up as early as 4 am in the morning only to return home at midnight daily because of terrible traffic nightmare they suffer! Tinubu never did anything significant to change this deplorable situation for the 8 years he ruled between 1999 and 2007. His hand-picked puppets weren't able to do anything as well because he remained in control of Lagos State affairs till today. Tax is paid through his company and of course he can only remit what he feels like to the Lagos State government while he pockets the rest. His sons, daughters and cronies are also in control of every other strategic revenue generating sector in Lagos thereby effectively making Lagos his private estate since 1999!

3. Tinubu met a Lagos State that was already the most industrialized and most developed in Nigeria. Housing oil companies headquarters, embassies, seaports, airports, bank and insurance headquarters, federal government agencies and virtually almost everything of economic worth was already domiciled in Lagos before he became governor. So what significant thing exactly has tinubu done to improve the fortunes of Lagos?

4. Tinubu and his hordes of agberos both online and offline will claim that tinubu increased the IGR of Lagos from 1kobo to 1billion dollars. Now, ask them, what has he done with the money in improving Lagos? Why would he tax businesses to death only to steal the money in bullion vans? Of course, it would be easy to tax businesses in Lagos since it has always been the political and later economic capital of Nigeria yet those paying the tax can't point to what their hard-earned monies are being used for. Ask 100 Lagosians if they are happy with the situation in Lagos and not less than 90 will tell you no! Most Lagosians will happily run away from Lagos if there income is assured.

5. Lagos was already a developed state when tinubu took over in 1999 and has continued to rule Lagos by proxy ever since yet other states in Nigeria have been able to build mega infrastructures since the same period. Akwa Ibom has built a massive stadium, airport, airline, highways and bridges etc. But when it comes to Lagos, tinubu and his online urchins will start listing private sector investments like Dangote refinery and the rest. Lagos is richer than many countries in Africa yet it can't boast of any significant public infrastructure except the ones built in the 1970's. Why? Because one man is busy primitively stealing and accumulating wealth he can't be able to finish nor his children to the fifth generation!

So when tinubu online urchins are fed with utter lies and propaganda to decieve the public, I only shake my head because Tinubu is the worst thing to happen to Lagos State. In saner climes, such a criminal would be in prison but here we are having our sensibilities assaulted by him, telling us he wants to rule Nigeria.
How someone will support Tinubu for the post of President of Nigeria is beyond me.
What are his governance and social philosophies.

What are his economic and business philosophies?

What are his antecedents and achievements. Yes he worked as an accountant for Mobil for a few years and then went on exile. He the came back to assume governor for 8 years. In those 8 years he institutionalized agbero, so much so that all Lagos residents and businesses are at the mercy of agbero. He used thuggery, bribery and election rigging to hold Lagos as his personal estate. He installed his larkies as traditional chiefs and rulers including the Oba of Lagos. He installed his acolytes in every political post in Lagos, from local government chairmen to house of reps to even federal house of representatives and Senate. He installed his wife as senator representing Lagos, his daughter as Iya oloja and his angling to install his son as governor of Lagos. Lagos is becoming a monarchy with King (Ashiwaju) Bola Tinubu as Emperor.

And you guys want to replicate the same thing in Nigeria? God forbid. Tinubu only care about aquistition of power and wealth. He had never been interested in the welfare and suffering of the masses.

You can't win the presidency in Nigeria without the votes of the north.

The South West Yorubas don't give block votes. The best APC could get in the South West is 60% of total votes cast. Most times the person that wins South West doesn't get more than 55% of the votes.

South East on the other hand gives block votes, but the number of votes from the South East region is the least in Nigeria. The South East just don't come out to vote during elections. Due to IPOB and lack of interest in elections in general.

Meanwhile the North apart from having the highest number of registered voters, come out enmass to vote. Even underage, overage and foreigners from Niger and Chad come out to vote. And the vote in block.
So you need votes from the north to be able to win the presidency.

Well, let's wait and see but the calibre of men behind Tinubu are those who do not flip flop. Some are octogenarians and are not the type Buhari can order around. Tanko Yankassai for example, is around 90 years and he has Buhari's ears. He is not the type to make a U-turn . Another one is the Emir of Katsina who openly revealed his indebtedness to Tinubu as far back as 20 years ago. An Emir is not the type to suddenly deny his statement cos of Buhari.
Btw, the West will not take Buhari's betrayal of Tinubu lightly. We know how they promised him a lot when he was suffering to build APC. People like Amaechi came in later. I've said it many times that Buhari is an outgoing and broke President who cannot empower politicians like Tinubu has done. It will be hard for people to betray alliances formed many years ago for an outgoing President.. I am sure that Buhari will not try that consensus rubbish cos he would be offending many people who have been his backbone for years. We will go to the field and Tinubu will get 70% of the votes cos Party members themselves do not want to lose elections.
I still say you are naive about Nigerian politics. Yes I agree that Tinubu is the most powerful candidate nation wide to win the APC primaries and even the general elections. But .... there is a big but. The person whose rules Nigeria is often determined by the political and military class. The the most important member of the political class is the president, while the determinants of the military class are the generals - Obasanjo, Babangida, Abdulsalami and Danjuma. That's why you see all aspirants go to Ota and Minna to get the blessings and support of the generals. Traditional rulers have little or no say on who becomes governor not to talk of president. Governors have a powerful influence also.

If the president and the Generals agree on a candidate that is not Tinubu. He will be offered compensation to step down. If he does gra gra, they will deal with him and his businesses.
EFCC will go after him, his Alpha Beta and all his businesses. Obasanjo used the same tactics against Babangida when he stubbornly refused to step down for Yara dua, who was the anointed candidate of the president. Obasanjo simple locked up Muhammed Babangida and EFCC started investigating Glo. Babangida had to forgo his presidential ambitions before Obasanjo left him, his family and his businesses.

To me I feel Babangida and his fellow Generals have settled for Ameachi. I might be wrong, only time and intrigues will make things clear.

Sorry to say, you are politically naive as regards to Nigerian politics. Political season is harvest time for Nigerian politicians. They escort anyone with money to throw around. When the time comes, they will still support who they will support. Sometimes the highest bidder. Even Tinubu himself was been guilty of campaigning and supporting his party's presidential candidate only to collect money at the end of then say to support the opposition candidate - President Jonathan.

Amaechi don't need to win Rivers to become president, although I doubt he will lose rivers if he is the party's candidate. To me Amaechi would win most of the Niger Delta including Bayelsa. The only problem will the whether the south west would support Amaechi after his confrontation with Jagaban. To me the people that hate Amaechi most are the core eastern states, as they are yet to forgive him for betraying their hero.
CrimeRe: My Father Told Me “Holy Spirit” Instructed Him To Have Sex With Me - Teenager by wirinet(m): 3:02am On Apr 10, 2022
Let me first reteirate that, if the allegations are true or if the man slept with his daughter even with her consent, then the man should rot in prison and then continue to rot in he'll after that.

Having said that, the story get as e be, it does not make sense.

First of all the girl has presented zero evidence her father slept with her - forcefully or with her consent. The case would not pass in court.

Then there are numerous holes in the story which a lawyer can easily point out.

Here are the most obvious ones.
said that the alleged defilement started after her mother relocated to South Africa in 2014.
The defilement started after her mother relocated to south africa in 2014. But this is 2022, 8 years later, and she is 16 years old now. It means the defilement started when she was 8 or 9 years old.

Meanwhile, in another statement she alleges:
“I was 14 years old when the incident happened. It started with him touching my body.
So when did the alleged defilement start?

“When I noticed this, I moved away my body from him. I told my twin brother about it the following morning, but he did not believe me.
Why did her twin brother not believe her, and why not tell her mother or any other family member?

She testified that her father continued to defile her even after they relocated to Badore, Ajah, Lagos State.

“At this point, it became an issue because he had sex with me almost every time on a beach.”
The timelines and locations are very confusing. Where did they relocate from and when?
How come he was having sex with the girl constantly everywhere in the house, with the girlfriend and twin brother living there, and even on a public beach and no one noticed or heard her scream?

The father and moved her and her twin brother over to his girlfriend's house and still continued to have constant sex with her and still they did not notice anything strange.

She said that her father asked her to pack out of his girlfriend’s house one midnight but she objected and neighbours waded in.

“I saw him at my back at midnight telling me to pack my things and leave the house that day.

“As I was packing, I was scared he might have sex with me again; so, I locked the door from inside,” she testified
This is the part I don't understand at all.
There father told her to pack probably due to a quarrel, the neighbours even waded in, and then she locked the door because she was afraid he might rape her again? When the whole neighbourhood is aware of the situation?

it was after the intervention of the landlord and other people begged the father not to evict her that she finally accused the father of raping her and for some years at that.

While responding to questions from defence counsel, Mr Buhari Momoodu, the teenager testified that she was once defiled before her father had canal knowledge of her.
She said she was even defiled before her father ever slept with her. She never mention by whom, when or where.

He said that his findings showed no fresh injuries on the vagina but showed that the survivor had repeated forceful vaginal penetration.
This is the part I find confusing. Evidence of forceful vaginal penetration? By whom and when? I though the father was not able to have sex with her on the night in question. Or was it the alleged constant and regular rape of the past years that caused evidence of forceful vaginal penetration?

hotseat:
If running around a stadium is all it requires to preside over the affairs of a country, East Africans like the Kenyans and Ethiopians should head the UN and other world bodies.

To be physically fit, no doubt, is essential but cerebral dexterity, purposeful and goals-oriented targets and tangible results ably backed up with wisdom are the hallmarks of good leadership.

Amaechi!

The Usain Bolt of Nigeria political aspirants!

U are wehdone!
Amaechi is not running against Ethiopians and Kenyans, he is running against Tinubu and possibly Atiku or Peter Obi, (that is if he is able to win APC primaries).
He is only showing he his fitter that his potential oponents.

Just like the story of the lion that his chasing you and another person. You don't have to outrun the lion to survive, you only need to outrun your opponent.

What have you seen? Very disappointing. Wait till the day Jagaban will declare.

No governor, no senator, no house of representatives, no state house of assembly, no local government chairman, no councillor and he wants to be president.
Watch the event before you start talking.
