Benin-Shagamu expressway had been a nightmare for decades. About 6 years ago, it was a dangerous affair driving through Benin byepass, especially after 6pm. I usually go through the Benin traffic to get to warri sapele road. The flash point on that road is Ore near the toll gate and ijebu ode. I never allow 6pm to catch me in those spots. It had nothing to do with Fulani or herdsmen.

100% of survivors of attacks and kidnappings on the shagamu-benin, gbogon-oshogbo, kaduna-abuja roads have testified that it was armed Fulani that attacked them. The oau lecturer attacked recently said it was Fulani. There is no point being politically correct. This issue is getting out of hand and if it is not stopped now it will be too late in few months.
My reason for saying this is that these herdsmen have started tasting millions from kidnapping and they are seeing that it is more profitable than rearing cows. It has gotten to the stage the kidnap in "bulk". 30-40 people at once! The more the merrier. They will inform their colleagues all over Africa that southern Nigeria is a land flowing with "milk and honey" and more will come as we are soft targets to the herdsmen since we do not have a culture of violence over here.

Please read the report you posted in detail, you will not see any evidence of herdsmen, nor will you see evidence of Fulani. It all speculation. The report looked like something written at an office desk. It presented no evidence whatsoever, just stereotypes in the guise of hearsay evidence.
Non of the actual witnesses including the driver said the attack was by Fulani or herdsmen in the actual interview.
I am not holding brief for the Fulani, and I believe (without evidence), that lots of them are into criminality, but it is wrong to label a whole tribe criminals without any concrete evidence.

Even Olu Falae could not confirmed that they were Fulani, he simply assumed they were Fulani because they spoke Hausa. Fulanis are not the only tribe in Nigeria that speaks Hausa.

For you to label someone Fulani herdsman, you have to present evidence first that he is Fulani, then present evidence he has he possesses a herd of cows.

I grew up and schooled on the island - Ikoyi and Victoria Island, so you had nothing special to envy.

How do you rate the best schools? Is it by the fees or by performance in external exams? How many times have students from these schools rated among the best students in common entrance. My children's school was among the best performing students in last year's lagos common entrance exams. My nephew had one of the best result in WAEC and JAMB exams two years ago, and he attended an average level private secondary school, he was denied admission into UNILAG because he was only 15.
Money is important, but raising well balanced anx happy children goes beyond money.

I have 3 children too, non of them finished 1 tin of cerelac (we tried for each one for sake of our conscience). Only the 1st one had SMA Gold when the mother didnt have enough breast milk at 1st. My older children like Beverages eg Milo, Bornvita, Ovaltine, Horlicks and cereals like cornflakes, oats, golden morn and most of the Kellogg's range.

Those who say formula are unaware that it is a subtitute for breast milk in cases where the mother doesn't produce enough, died during child birth or for whatever reason doesn't want to breast feed.

People now see it as a status statement to feed their infants formulas while breast milk is the real deal. Children older than 6months have other requirements which even local women know how to produce with the right ingredients.

Don't mind these people who came from poverty striven backgrounds and was lucky to con a successful young man into putting them in his house.
They have now elevated breast milk substitutes to a status symbol. We have survived and even thrived for millenia without expensive baby formula, I don't know how they now think it is crucial to our survival.

I now believe poverty is a state of mind, rather a state of material things.

So much misinformation and ignorance in a single post. The best food for mental development of babies is BREAST MILK. It is tailored specifically for rapid mental development of our species. Cow milk is tailored more for body mass development tailored for bovine species. Children breastfed to one year and above tend to have better mental development than babies fed with expensive food formulas.

Talking about intelligence, my children school performance is excellent. My second child borders on genius. He had never scored less 90% in any exam he had taken. My first son that I talked about is only 11, and he is among the best in his school. He plays piano very well, so much so his music teacher wants me to register him with MUSON.

It's the effect of our youths watching too much nollywood movies. They now extrapolate what the watch to reality. In nollywood traditions supercedes the law, but in the real world, the reverse is the case.

I raised three children and I know that feeding babies is as expensive as you wish it to be. WHO recommends 6 months exclusive breastfeeding for your child to develop well mentally, physically and health wise, most igbo women breastfeed for over 1 year. After a year, the child can start eating adult foods (but mashed). There are some cheap but nutritious food blending that can substitute for expensive tin food. Non of my children agreed to eat those expensive tin mixes. I even tried SMA Gold, and non of my babies took it. My first son preferred oats with lots of milk, my last born (my daughter) loved golden morn, also with milk.

These people are talking like we did not feed our babies before the introduction of foreign food formula or their parents were weaned on foreign food mixes.
