Why is he so fixated on Buhari? His own governor and most governors sworn in on may 29 are yet to appoint commissioners.

Different strokes for different folks, some like brand new, some prefer tokunbo, others like non tested, some prefer tested, it is a matter of preference.

The mistake OP is making is trying to impose her preference on every body else. The only argument presented by the OP is moral or his religious bias. He fails to acknowledge not everybody shares your moral or religious biases.

Marriage is very complex, different people enter into it for different reasons, some marry for se.x, some marry for companionship, others marry for children, others still for status. There is no one size fit all. That is why divorce rate between Christians (even pastors and G.Os) is not different from the general population.

That is where i am different, I personally know Ben Murray Bruce. I know his family. I have an aunt who was class mate with him in St. Gregory's (same classmate with Stella Obasanjo (nee Abebe), so if i tell you he is grandstanding, i know what i am talking about.He had alway been ulta elitist and had never identified with the masses. In fact when he started rhythm FM, you have no chance of getting a job as a presenter if you do not speak with a British or American accent. He himself still speaks with an american accent even though he only went to study in the US for a few years. I have never heard him speak pidgin, yoruba or his native Ijaw language. So to say he identifies with the masses is simply political gimmickry.

There is no politician in Nigeria today that identifies with the masses, the onces that pretend to do are deceitful. Even Adams Oshiomole that pretended to the side of the masses for decades only for him to tell them to go and die when the masses needed him.

Good men simply do not join politics simply because the voting public do not appreciate good men, else men like Gani Fawehinmi, ken saro wiwa and Femi Falana would easily win elections. The Nigerian electoate (and to some extent African electorate) appreciates power, they appreciate strong men, godfathers and oppressors, people like IBB, Atiku, Tinubu, Ibori, David Mark, etc.

Ben Bruce does not need to sit in the Senate chambers before he can expose his revolutionary ideas on how he can better the lot of Nigerian workers (or at least his senatorial district). He did not need to sit in the hallowed chambers before he exposed his ideas on how he can assist Osun workers. I am talking about ideas, i have not talked about introducing any bills yet.

The greatest tragedy of black Africa is that we lack men of ideas, me who propagate ideas on how to develop our societies. What we have are men who propagate religion, emotions and egocentric vanities.

Please tell us Ben Bruce's ideas of how to achieve a better working condition for Osun workers, or does he intend to set up a charity foundation to help Osun workers perpetually?

The 24million I mentioned was the alleged wardrobe allowance. When he was told on twitter that they would recieve that amount (24m), he said he wasnt aware of such obscene payment but promised that if paid, he would donate the cash (24m) to the workers of Osun state as relief, just like some others have been donated food items.

Donating the cash as relief is not the same as offsetting the wage bill of the state. He never said he was planning to pay off the salaries of all Osun workers and he was never referring to 500,000naira when he made the statement. I don't know where you are getting these weird ideas from.

I do not know why you have decided to hate this man so much as if he is the worst leader ever in Nigeria. It's really pathetic that Nigerians do not know who their real enemies are. Okay, the man has said he doesnt fly first class, so what is the big deal if he flies business?... Did he tell you or anyone that he doesnt fly business class?... Are you even slightly aware of the massive difference between first class and businness?

I do not usually hate or love people, i love or hate people's ideas. Ben Bruce has just been engaging in cheap publicity stunts since he had been elected senator. He has not introduced any revolutionary ideas on how he will make an impact using his legislative privileges. He has not told us on how he can sponsor a bill to prevent the Osun situation and employers owing employees for months (which is a huge problem in Nigeria). Instead he is playing to the "Galleria" about donating a wardrobe allowance to Osun workers or never flying first class by fly business class.

It is embarrassing for foriegners to open Nairaland and see what Nigerians and their public officers are arguing about.

You must be part of his PR team. What you wrote below are half truths and personal opinions. Some of us also knows Bruce well and have been following his career since 1978.

Infact he revitalised the ailing station then and created more channels. During his time NTA was modernised and rebranded with new quality programs. Ben was born into wealth as his dad was a senior manager at UAC(owners of the Mr Biggs franchise and several other top products like gala etc). Ben was a successful business man before his short experience at NTA. Before NTA there was the MBGN(most beautiful girl in nigeria), he had a successful radio station, silverbird entertainment etc.

Later with the support of a bank loan, he established the 1st Silverbird galleria at Victoria Island and brought back fun and glamour to the city of lagos. It became the entertainment hub of Nigeria and still attracts large crowd till today. He didn't look back since then and afterwards came Silver TV now in many states, more Silverbird galleria now in many states and ghana. His radio station Rythym FM also expanded to other states. Together with his other siblings through his leadership they created the E-CENTRE yaba a replica of the silverbird galleria on the mainland. He is a motivational speaker and have spoken in many youth empowerment events like the prestigious "Future awards", RISE youth conference to mention a few. He is a also philanthropist of repute.


Ben bruce is a 1st time senator that was just sworn in on May 29th 2015. He was a successful entrepreneur and confirmed billionaire before then so he can fly business class or even charter a private jet if he likes. He owns properties worth millions of dollars at home and abroad. He only came into politics because it was the only platform where he could fight for the plight of his people of bayelsa on the issue of environmental pollution and negligence from oil exploration. He will also be championing the course of anti-piracy in the music and movie industry.


Please this man should be accorded some respect because he has created more jobs, created income for government through taxes than most of the present senators and this was achieved even before he became a politician.

Ben Bruce was not born into wealth. Someone whose father retired as a senior manager of a supermarket chain (UAC did not open Mr Biggs until the 80s) cannot be said to be born with a silver spoon. They were middle class family.

Ben Bruce did indeed wrecked NTA. Where are the channels created during Ben Bruce's tenure. What was the quality of programs during Ben Bruce's tenure? He came up with the concept of establishing an NTA station in every state in Nigeria, but he only used it as an opportunity to defraud NTA. He (though his cronies) was in charge of awarding the contract for the building of the offices in each state capital. They give contractors the contract at ridiculously low prices but budget exhorbitant prices. In 2001, i was offered the contract to build the Uyo office at about N12million when the original contract sum was supposed to be about N35million. I turned down the contract. Now imagine replicating that in over 30 states in Nigeria.

Ben Bruce was also in charge of supplying the transmitters. He brought in outdated transmitters at exhorbitant prices. Up till today, the few NTA that worked cannot transmit successfully for a whole day without going off air. Go to the Warri station, they go off and on randomly. They go off air for days.

The logo debacle is the most stupid thing he did. What was wrong with the old logo? How many media outfit in the world change their logo. The Times of UK that is over 200 years still use the same logo. BBC still uses the same logo, CNN still uses the same logo, so whats the noise about logo. Then he contracted his brother to design the logo (of course at exhorbitant price), the logo was useless, NTA written in blue small letters with a red ball circling around it. It looked childish. The NTA staff hated the logo, the public did not like the logo. So it is absurd to list the logo as an achievement by Ben Bruce.

Ben Bruce's crowning glory was the 2004 All African Games. Ben Bruce was in charge of all tranmission equipments to be acquired by NTA including the OB vans. He was alleged to have bought in outdated and non functional OB vans, so much so that NTA had to rely on private media outfits for its live transmissions. This was the camel that broke OBJ's back, OBJ has had enough. He called him and sacked him immediately just before the start of the All African Games. It was immediately after the sacking that Ben Bruce brought in modern transmitters and set up silverbird television.

What effect would a measely N500,000 have on a debt of over N30billion? (sorry i mistakenly wrote N110 billion for Osun, the N110billion is the debt for all states in the federation). A simple search would reveal Osun monthly wage bill is N3.6 billion.

If Ben Bruce can fly Business class, why can he not fly first class. The difference between first class and business class is very small. I thought he was trying to insinuate that he identifies with the poor, so one would expect him to fly economy.

The problem with the criminal code is that its laws are discriminatory. It makes one law for the rich and another law for the poor. The legal disparity between corruption and stealing is only enforcing such social discrimination.

Stealing only affects the poor as only a poor person would steal items from N10 and above (up till the value of a car), but corruption can only affect the rich and powerful ( stealing or embezzling billions of Naira or even dollars).

Stealing of N1,000 can attract a 7 year sentence and embezzling $1billion attracts a maximum 2 year sentence (with the option of a fine and a plea bargain)

A person accused of stealing can be arrested without an arrest warrant but arrest warrants are mandatory for persons accused of corruption.

Having said the above corruption with reference to public finance (as against moral corruption or even social corruption) is institutionized stealing.

I will never support Amnesty for Boko Haram, the same way i never supported amnesty for Nigerdelta militants. Other notable Nigerdeltans never supported Amnesty program the way it was concieved and executed by former President Jonathan. A criminal is a criminal and should be prosecuted as a criminal. After spending billions of Naira on a useless amnesty program, our lands are still polluted, our rivers are still black with spilt oil and our children still lack primary and secondary schools (oil communities).

(Reuters) – When battle-hardened Chadian troops overran a Boko Haram camp in northern Nigeria last week, they wanted to press deep into territory controlled by the Islamist group but Nigeria refused to let them.

Having defeated al Qaeda in Mali two years ago, Chad’s military believes it could could finish off Boko Haram alone. It has notched up victories that have pushed the Nigerian militants back from the Cameroonian border.

But with presidential elections this month, Nigeria is keen to press ahead with its own military campaign against Boko Haram, aiming to push it out of major towns before the March 28 ballot.

In a country proud to be a major African power, it would be an embarrassment to President Goodluck Jonathan as he seeks reelection for a smaller nation to tackle Nigeria’s security problems, diplomats say.

In their forward base in the town of Gambaru on the Nigeria-Cameroon border, Chadian soldiers displayed dozens of guns seized from Boko Haram and a burnt-out armoured vehicle painted with black and white Arabic script.

“We turned back because Nigeria did not authorise us to go any further,” army spokesman Colonel Azem Bermandoa said.

Nigeria’s spokesman for operations in the northeast, Mike Omeri, said cooperation between Chadian and Nigerian forces has brought some major military successes and any issues would be resolved via existing command structures.

But the Chadians say there have been no joint operations between the two forces. Chad’s offer to join a Nigerian offensive to capture Baga, site of one of Boko Haram’s worst atrocities in January, was rebuffed, Bermandoa said.

Officials from Chad, Niger and Cameroon say lack of cooperation from Nigeria has for months hampered efforts to put together a regional taskforce against Boko Haram. Chad was compelled to take unilateral action in January, under a deal that allows it to pursue terrorists into Nigeria, after Boko Haram violence started to choke off imports to its economy.

It’s a disgrace that neighbours must take on Boko Haram –Buhari

Presidential flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Gen. Muhammadu Buhari is appalled that neighbouring Chad and Cameroun are turning out to be more successful at the battle front against Boko Haram than Nigeria.

Nigeria’s poor performance,he says,is a disgrace.

“It’s a big disgrace for Nigeria. It is now Cameroon and Chad fighting the insurgency more than Nigeria. We will build the capacity and Nigeria should be able to secure its territorial integrity,” Buhari told Reuters.

Troops from neighbouring Chad, Niger and Cameroon, all much smaller and poorer than Nigeria, have been battling the terrorists who have seized territory in Borno State.

Niger Republic said yesterday its troops killed 109 Boko Haram fighters in an attempted attack on Bosso close to the border with Nigeria.

The attack was repelled.
