freshdude99:But, why do you have selective anmesia? Do you not remember the greatest impunity of all - 5 being greater than 24? Amaechi locked down the Judiciary because the 5 (greater than 25) with oders from mama peace are intent on impeaching the governor, but they cannot do it without imposing their own Chief Judge on Rivers. The NJC wanted to take the role of Appointing the chief Judge instead of recommending and allowing the Governor to choose (with approval from the state assembly) |
claycares:GMB never "decreed" Nigerians from calling him a general, as it as no legal status. He only adviced that he prefered that the title be dropped. You can call him whatever you like, he might just not respond to you if you call him General. |
barcanista:One thing you fail to memtion was, the legality of both actions were never tested in court. What would have happened if someone dragged the NASS to court for appointing Vice President Goodluck as Acting President without a transmission letter from the president? Also in this case what would happen if a River's citizen sues the FG and Wike to court for swearing in of the Governor by aliens to the state? Lets just hope someone does not sue in this case also. |
I have always loved Ebun but this suit is as stupid as it is frivolous. You can not legally define what a person wants to call himself. If Ebun wants to be known as Barrister Ebun-Olu Adegoruwa or simply as Ebun, that is his cup of coffee. Gani Fawehinmi loved to be called simply Gani and not Barrister Gani Fawehinmi and there was nothing illegal about it. The fact that Buhari wants to be simply called Mohammadu Buhari does not remove the fact that he is a retired General from his CV. He remains a retired General to death. So Ebun should look for other ways to get noticed. Ebun should be suing General Tompolo for answering the title of a general without being a soldier. |
IsraeliAIRFORCE:And how was that deployment of technology able to close and monitor non oil remittances by NNPC, Outright oil theft, pension thieves, subsidy thieves, Import duty waiver frauds, and all other frauds that bedevilled the Jonathan administration? |
alexlee50:So what do you suggest? That we should break up into over 250 countries? If you almagamate more that 2 tribes together and each tribe attempting to dominate and cheat others, you will still be left with the "Nigerian situation" |
humilitypays:And what was the cause of the 1966 pogrom? |
barcanista:Supervisory agencies has the powers to investigate bridge of ethics and professional misconduct but they do not have the powers to investigate criminal offences. That was why when FRCN over reached its powers by embarking on criminal investigations, Sanusi and all other board members of CBN declined FRCN invitations. Even the case against Cicilia Ibru was investigated and prosecuted by EFCC. It was not CBN that was surmoning people and interogating them. If the federal government was convinced that the Judgement against it harrassing Sanusi was a Kangaroo Judgement, why did they not appeal the judgement at the appellate court. Please read the judgement and not just act on hearsay |
Sweetguy25:is this how low your regard for human live is? human beings were killed in cold blood and you are talking about sleeping dogs. if you have any info about the killing of 800 people in buhari's name, take it to the police or the human rights commission. To insinuate that one crime must not be investigated and prosecuted because another similar crime was not investigated is asking for a state of anarchy. you should ask president jonathan why the over 800 killings in buhari's name was not investigated and the culprits prosecuted. |
shakazuldadon:I disagree with area father on this one. Social societies are extremely complex and governing human societies require much more than the nebulous word "technocrat". The most important leadership qualities to me are sincerity of purpose, vision, ability to control men and rescources to achieve desired vision and support and love of the general citizenry. We have had tecnocrats that have failed woefully in Nigeria. We have had a world bank trained technocrat as finance minister and our economic indices are only improving on paper, we have alway had SANs as attorney generals, look at the state of our judiciary, same with other ministries like health, etc. I am not saying technocrats are not important, but what is more important is integrity, vision, ideas and competence of the said technocrat. Then on the issue of zoning. You cannot wish away zoning from any human society, especially one that is multi racial, ethnic, religious or any other social distinction. Even zoning along sexual line is recognized the world over. What is bad is elevating zoning over competence. I doubt you could not find competent people among all social divides. The same charly boy saying Zoning should not be considered would be same person crying foul if someone from his tribe is not appointed into position of authority in the incoming administration. |
psucc:Are you people not tired of parroting child-voters any time election fraud is mentions as it relates to river's state? Provide concrete proof that majority of the votes in the north was done by child voters and take such proof to the tribunal, and then let the tribunal do its job. Also if APC has concrete evidence that the number of recorded voters is more than the accredited voters, then they are also free to present such evidence at the tribunals. But to insinuate that because PDP suspect child voting in the north, so APC should not seek redress for suspected vote allocation in River's state is unreasonable. No society is run that way. It is like saying you should not be prosecuted for a crime because you suspected someone else had commited the same crime and was not prosecuted. |
noblezone:You are being clever and mischievous with your quotes above? Why did you quote Tafa Balewa and Awo pre independence and you quote Zik post independence. Pre-independence, the north did not not want one Nigeria, they wanted to stay on their own, the South west were not so commited to one Nigeria, they were ready to go along with whichever way it went. It was the Igbos that was obsessed with one Nigeria, they promoted one Nigeria. This was done because they felt that the British would hand over power to them, because they see themselves as being more educated and advanced. It was until after, they lost out in the power play and power was handed over to the north that the Igbos and Zik started singing a new tune. They started opposing one Nigeria. But when Ironsi took over power in 1966, he destroyed even the loose confederacy the British left and imposed a unitary one Nigeria. We did not hear complaints from Zik and the igbos then. So this "slave camp" was a creation of the British in concert with the Igbos. |
barcanista:The question is why did the government have to wait until a few months to elections before decreeing national conference? (the national conference had no legal backing). Why wait for appointed people to do the fight for fiscal federalism, why are our elected politicians not leading our fight for fiscal federalism? why was fiscal federalism not a campaign issue among SS politicians during the just concluded elections? i am also a strong advocate of fiscal federalism, but i believe in using proper legal, political and diplomatic channels to achieve it than lip service bargaining chip for few politicians. |
barcanista:I agree with you 100%, but the question is, why NOW ? why was fiscal federal federalism not the interest of the SS while our brother was in power? |
TANiods and President Jonathan's supporters are just getting into emotional overdrive over Buhari's victory. The AIT issue is just a storm in a teapot. There is nothing against press freedom in Buhari not allowing AIT or any other person into his house. AIT was not banned, their licence was not withdrawn, their station was not closed down, their reporters were not arrested or harrased, so what is all the noise about Buhari denying press freedom. Even though Buhari denies knowlegde of the whole thing, he has the right to allow or deny anyone into his private house. If he was already sworn in president and it is an official assignment, then we can start talking about Buhari denying AIT its right of press freedom. But for now Buhari can still enjoy his life as a private citizen. If it was me, i would not even allow AIT anywhere near me or my family, i would only deal with them on official basis, nothing personal, no favours. If it was President Jonathan and his family that was insulted by hate campaigns promoted by a media organization, i am sure the media organization have been shut by now. Press freedom does not mean unlimited access to the homes and private lives of all citizens - both public and private. The press is not big brother. |
See lie. Omo this guy can wake a corpse with his lies. He is forming humble because of politics. He has relalized that Nigerians fall mugu fore fake humilty (remember how successful the "i have no shoes" claim was). I have known Ben Bruce personally for over 30 years, and i know how ulta elitist he is. Around 1988 he bought a stretched white limo, which he drove arround in. He want to tell us that when he was travelling around the world with stars such as Jeffery Daniels, Howard Hewitt and J.T tailor, Agbani Dorego, etc, they were travelling around in economy class, or when he was NTA DG he did not enjoy official luxuries. |
The OP is not even putting the weather into consideration. I tried walking from my home to my office last week which is just a distance of about 2km. The problem was i did the walking about 12 noon, and by the time i walked 30mins, i was sweating, exhusted and tired. The sun was blazing hot and i was panting like a dog. Now imagine walking on Lagos - Ibadan expressway from from 11am to 5pm in the blazing sun non stop at 12km/hr. He will be dehydrated in no time. The story of Jonny Walker is so stupid that it is a miracle some people believe him. So here is my challenge to believers, walk 5km at 6km/hr for just 2hrs from 12noon to 2pm and come here and tell us your experience. |
chukwudi44:What are you talking about? you people talk on issues you absolutely have no idea about. How many votes were allocated to Buhari in the whole of the SS save Edo. We the Itsekiris had a grouse with president Jonathan and PDP over the Ogidigben Gas project and other issues concerning the discriminate siting of projects in mainly ijaw areas of the state. We specifically decided to support Buhari as a protest, but how many votes were allocated to Buhari in Itsekiri areas? Lots of my Family members are involved in PDP politics from local government to federal level, so believe me i know what i am talking about. Even during the last the governorship elections of 2011, Ogboru would have won if not for the votes allocated to Uduaghan from the 3 warri local government areas. Please explain what Amnesty program you are talking about? Or are you, any member of your family or even your tribe benefitting from the amnesty program. So what will you do if Buhari decides to scrap the so called amnesty program? |
cktheluckyman:The elections in the SS was a mirage, there was no elections. They just allocate figures. That was how elections had always been in the SS. I was involved in the 2003 elections, so i know what i am talking about. The Igbos are the ones carrying the Ijaw cause on their head. They are the most pained by Jonathan's loss. The so called amnesty program mainly favours the Ijaws, of the over 26,000 youths being paid awoof N65,000 per months, over 80% of them are of Ijaw ethnic group. Is what the amnesty program is about? Lots of us SS citizens are annoyed at this waste of our rescources to favour one ethnic group. Even Amaechi is not in support of paying criminals money not to commit crime. When Buhari enters office, we the SS people will engage the government in proper "Amnesty Program" that will involve cleaning of our environment, providing basic amenities like electricity and water for the communities, free education for our childern and job opportunities for our youths. |
msmon:Please elaborate more on the bolded. Is it in the constitution that all events of private citizens and even public ones must be covered by all journalists? Can a person be taken to court for refusing a journalist or all journalist from covering a private event of any citizen. Are they saying Buhari has no right to refuse media coverage of any private visit in his home as a president elect (please note that he is not the president yet and the visit was not an official visit). Please quote the relevant section of the constitution that empowers the media to cover all public and private function of all public or private citizens. So what these Buhari haters are implying is that every and all journalists and media outfits, both local and international must be allowed access to the president at every function and event both official and unofficial, no need for permission or accreditation. |
Now that Major General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) has been chosen by theBen Bruce,s opening sentence contradicts the whole body of the article. If you are loyal and appreciative of president jonathan, it means you appreciate his style of governance. So why the advice? why not ask Buhari to continue with the way jonathan was ruling Nigeria, So that you can appreciate him too. Since Jonathan is his kinsman and he had access to him, why did he not give Jonathan these advices anytime during the 6 yr presidency of president Goodluck? Please leave President elect Buhari alone, he does not need the advice of PDP members on how to run a successful government. |
kenonze:Impressive political resume, but what of his political value? How much political weight does he command in Igbo land? How many votes did he gather from Igbo land during all these contests, and how many followers does he command? In the last election how many votes did he bring to the APC both in the presidential and governorship elections. If he is given a prominent post in the incoming APC government, would be able to bring in Igbo support for APC? These are the considerations for distibution of political offices in Nigerian democracy. |
I beg you people to stop this SS/SE nonsense. There was never an alliance of the SE and the whole SS, and i doubt there would ever be. The only alliance i am seeing is the Igbos and the Ijaws, And i see nothing wrong with it. If the two tribes are interested in marrying themselves, they can start marriage proceedings. They should first define, their geographic boundaries and their aims and objectives. They should then follow normal diplomatic channels, like the UN, the AU and having a referendum. It might be a long and torturous journey but it is achievable. But to expect the Benis, the Urhobos, the Isokos, the Iteskiris, the Ishans, the calabaris, and all the over 60 tribes in the "lower niger" to agree to align with the Igbos and Ijaws is wishful thinking. |
major466:what hypocrisy? did channels, AIT, TVC, Punch and even premiumtimes call GEJ clueless, otuke drunkard and ogogoro drinker? If they did please provide links. it is unbelievable that some people are justifying insulting and character assassination of someone by a supposed professional media organization in the name of freedom of expression. Meanwhile if insult Oga Seun, i would be barred and banned from using his site. |
The sports betting problem is just a tip of the iceberg. The main problem is our value system, we have a warped value system that emphasizes making it at all cost no matter how. This value system is promoted by parents, the communities, the churches and the society at large. A teenage is without ant visible means of livelyhood engages in Yahoo yahoo and buys new cars for his father, the father is proud of him and celebrates him. He pays tithes and his pastor uses him as an example of whom God as blessed. And his community afford him much respect. So even a 12yr is trying to make it. Is it only sports betting? What about the telecoms companies who play their own lottery by asking people win millions of naira for N100 per text, or those that says predict the correct scores for N100. They do not bother with age restrictions. Then there is our TV program and films, there is no strict age classification and restriction. You will see programs on local TV promoting sex, crime and all manner of vices being shown in the afternoon (sometimes in the morning), without caring for the minors. |
anulaxad:I thought we have settled this inventing the fastest computer ( or is it father of the internet) scam by Phillip Emegwali, it had been thrashed thouroughly in this forum. He did not invent a calculator before talking of inventing a supercomputer. He was only able to connect some computers together and clocked the fastest processing speed at that time. The record did not last more than a few months before faster processing speed was achieved by others. This was his claim to fame. |
oshyno:Who is Wike? Is he the president of Nigeria? Wike has no powers to boot anyone out. And besides, how many Ameriacans are working in Rivers state? Most of those companies you listed have either left Nigeria or are deinvesting in Nigeria. Haliburton is dead and buried. Wike against the US of A, that is the Joke of the century. Is it by force to travel to America? If the US says don't come to our country, it is no big deal. Stay in your country. |
Dahveydson:Oya, you that accompanied him, please help us ask the following questions; Where did he sleep in the 13 days he was on the road? In hotels, in churches, in mosques or in a camp sac ( did he take camping gear along?) What was the exact route he took? How did he feed along the way? How did he observe basic hygiene like bathing, brushing, etc. Any Photographs or vidoes of towns and cities he passed through? |
kennydee05:There is doubt he will enter the Guiness book of records. First he did not inform the Guiness Book of Records he intends to break a record, so that they would physically withness the process and i am sure walking the distance from Abuja is not a record. Hashimu, a native of Katsina State, said he was in Lagos when Buhari was announced the president-elect of Nigeria, so he left Lagos at about 5am the next day and arrived in Ibadan around 6pm.To little information to go with. Buhari was announced president elect early in the morning around 3 am, so he is telling us he had only about 2 hours to prepare for the journey. We need answers to questions like; Where is he living in Lagos (that is if he resides in Lagos at all)? What time did he leave home and at what time did he get to the Lagos toll gate? What kit and gear did he carry along with him? Did he stop at all along the journey? Did he stop to rest, eat, defecate, etc? Where in Ibadan did he sleep for the night? Narrating his ordeal to newsmen upon his arrival in Abuja, Hashimu said he had gone to get a police report at Ibadan to allow for an unimpeded journey, but that as he could not wait for the processes to be completed, the divisional police officer (DPO) gave him his phone number.Which police station did he go to and why does ne require a police report? What use is a police report in treking from Lagos to Abuja? who does he expect to impede is journey. If he needed a police report or permission to trek, why did he not apply for such at police headquaters in Lagos before embarking on the trek? The journey man said when he first embarked on the journey, many persons discouraged him, especially family members but he never gave up.But he said he ambarked on the journey almost immediately Buhari was announced winner, so what time did members of his family have to try and dissuade him? He told journalists that in Ilorin, people accompanied him for several miles until he stopped at Oloru, where he received much hospitality in Jebba. He said unlike other villages, he met people who had heard of him.How come people in Ilorin and surrounding villages knew him and his mission? Even me living in urban Lagos would not recognize him if he stood in front of me. I only heard of him on Nairaland after he is said to have arrived Suleja. From the best of my knowledge, i do not think he had a press crew reporting his journey. Maybe Ilorin people and villagers are on Nairaland. He further explained that about 20 people set off with him from Jebba and after some miles, 18 turned back, but the other two were more strong-minded and followed him.Where are the photos of the people that followed him or is he saying neither hin nor any of his followers had a camera phone? The Traveller narrated how they encountered armed robbers close to Mokwa, but that, fortunately, he had already met one of them in Jebba and the would-be robber ended up giving him N200 for ‘pure’ (sachet) water. This one get as he be. How did he know they were armed robbers? was he a witness to their armed robbery operation or they simply walked up to him and introduced themselves as armed robbers. Then he said he already met one of the armed robbers at Jebba, was the armed robber walking along with him or trailing him? Please Note: I am a Buhari Supporter. |
Amaudeogu:The Ijaws should not attempt to drag the whole of the south south with them because of the ambitions of one man. Jonathan is not the first man in history to lose a second term bid and he will not be the last. If the Ijaws, the PDP and Igbo sympathizers feel cheated, the courts are opened, at least that was what Buhari did three times in the past. But if they feel they have the might to face the Hausas and the whole north, the yorubas and middle belt and the whole international community, then i wish them good luck. |
