You are a very daft and stuupid boy for that statement, anumpama. Why should I render any financial help to him? Did I or anyone send him to father children that he can't cater for? Nobody owes him a dime except the person offers to give out of freewill. No amount that is donated to him that will not finish so what then will he do next? Sell his other kids or use them for ritual? Better not vex me this early morning. Ewu Gambia. Stay there and be encouraging poverty, begging, and laziness. Ediot.

Poverty na bastard. The husband should triple his hustle to uplift himself and family from the scourge of poverty. Plus, they should stop having more kids until their financial situation improves. It is well.

Crime / Couple Seeking Better Life Sells One-day-old Baby For N250,000 by WisdomFlakes: 6:33am On Oct 18, 2018

October 18, 2018

Chukwudi Akasike, Port Harcourt

A couple has been arrested by operatives of the Inspector-General of Police Monitoring Unit in Afam, in the Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State, for selling their day-old child for N250,000.

The couple, Richard and Chidinma Benson, however, said they sold their baby to enable them to leave their village in the Isiala Ngwa North LGA of Abia State to seek better life in a town.

Chidinma had reportedly been delivered of a baby boy at Graceland Maternity Home in Afam on October 7, 2018, and she allegedly sold the baby to one Rose Onyia.

It was gathered that the baby was later resold to another child trafficker, identified as Eucharia Jaja, for N550,000 after which the infant was sold to an unnamed person in Lagos.

The couple told PUNCH Metro that poverty led them to sell the baby, who they said was their fourth child.

Chidinma said, “We sold our baby to one woman (Rose Onyia). I have four children and one is late. The baby was one day old when we sold him for N250,000. I did it with my husband’s approval.

“We wanted to leave the village because we were living in poverty. My husband was a wheelbarrow pusher and we believed that if we sell the baby, we would have enough money to come to a town in Umuahia or Port Harcourt.”

Her husband, Benson Richard, confirmed that they were almost dying of poverty when they decided to sell to sell the baby so that they could leave the village.

“My wife had a big sore in one of her legs and we needed money to treat the wound. At a point, my wife could not walk; that was when we decided to sell the baby boy after he was delivered,” Benson said.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police, IGP Monitoring Unit, Benneth Igwe, said the couple and 13 other suspected child traffickers were arrested in Oyigbo and Ikwerre LGAs based on reliable intelligence.

Igwe said, “The operatives of IGP Monitoring Unit raided Afrique Hotel, Afam, in Oyigbo, Rivers State, and rescued six pregnant women. The hotel is used as a base by suspected child traffickers.

“Information further revealed that on October 7, 2018, Chidinma was delivered of a baby boy at Graceland Maternity Home, Afam. The maternity home is owned by a quack nurse called Grace Daniel.

“The couple were paid N250,000 by one Rose Onyia and the baby was later sold to one Eucharia Jaja from Omagwa for N550,000. Thereafter, the baby was sold by Jaja to a client in Lagos. Our operatives are on the trail of the last buyer to rescue the baby.”

Igwe alleged that the child trafficking cartel had sold hundreds of children within and outside the country, adding that members of the cartel specialised in luring pregnant women to illegal maternity homes for the delivery and eventual sale of their babies.

Apart from the Bensons, Daniel and Jaja, he identified other suspected traffickers as Ikechi Nwanyanwu, Oluchi Ude, Kelechi Stephen, Destiny Sunday, Mary James, Chioma Prince, Ede Loveth, Nmesoma John and Victory Ihunna, who allegedly sold another child for N750,000 before she was arrested.

If this is true then it means these guys will ensure that Atiku will not have an impressive outing in the SouthEast. Atiku better take this impasse very serious and give it the urgent attention it deserves before it fatally damages his chances. If he loses their support and consequently fails to do well in the SE then he should consider his ambition dead-on-arrival.

My own perspective on the unfolding drama is that it might be a ploy by the SE leaders to avoid a situation where it would appear that the Igbos are putting all their eggs in one basket, so to speak. That way in the event that Buhari defeats Atiku (which is the more likely outcome), they will cite this episode as proof that not all of them were in full support of Atiku. Thereby giving themselves some politcal bargaining room with Buhari in his second term. I see Buhari doing decently in the South East in 2019 irrespective of whom Atiku selects as his running mate.

Politics / Southwest On Standby As Igbo Leaders Protest Obi’s Choice As Atiku Running Mate by WisdomFlakes: 1:56pm On Oct 13, 2018
The selection of Peter Obi as running mate to Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has been met with protest by south-east leaders.

David Umahi, governor of Ebonyi state, says the leaders of the region were not consulted over the nomination of Obi.

He said the development contravened an initial agreement that the leaders will collectively endorse a candidate for any position zoned to the region.

Umahi, chairman of the south-east governors’ forum, said Igbo leaders and governors were sidelined in the selection process.

He said any position zoned the Igbo must be deliberated upon by the key stakeholders in the south-east.

The governor said he has no ax to grind with Obi but maintained that the right thing must be done by the PDP.

Umahi and some Igbo leaders are expected to hold a meeting on the matter, and may ultimately reject the nomination of Obi as the PDP’s vice-presidential candidate.

Meanwhile, the south-west is on standby to put forward a candidate from the region in the event that Igbo leaders reject Obi and fail to reach a consensus on a replacement.

The south-west and south-east were the two regions from which Atiku was expected to nominate his deputy after emerging PDP flag bearer for the 2019 presidential election.

The ex-vice president, however, opted to select a candidate from the south-east.

Atiku had explained that he picked Obi due to his “vast knowledge of global and local economics as well as being a financial expert, all experience which Nigeria is in great need at this point in time”.

You guys should stop this Obj hype already. Obasanjo cannot even influence the election in his own Ogun state not to talk of Adamawa, Ebonyi, or Anambra. His endorsement is merely symbolic and meant to give Atiku's momentum a boost, nothing more nothing less. This overhyping should stop abeg.

They are nothing but few party politicians who Obi closed the tap against.
We are talking of millions of SouthEasteners here and not APGA party chieftains.

Don't be naive bro. Anambra is the most populated state in the entire SE and has the highest voter strength. It would be a sad shame if PDP fails to get a clear-cut and dominant win in Anambra, which is possible if the APGA people decide to mess Obi up because they actually can. But like I said, I think they will reach an understanding for exigency reasons.

Exactly! If Obi and Atiku don’t go begging Obiano and reach an agreement with him, PDP will win Anambra but it will be minimal

I have a feeling Obi will eventually do that, for exigency purpose. But Obiano being a strategist himself would be weighing his options because anything can happen after Atiku becomes president. But then again, Obiano will be winding up his second term so Obi may not really be his problem. Na the likes of Victor Umeh wey go dey wonder how to handle any agreement with Obi.

Atiku Obi is a sure game!!!

The Op actually spoke the mind of Anambra APGA elite who are very weary of Peter Obi. The last thing they want is an empowered Obi who can create serious trouble for the party in the state in the event that Atiku becomes president. They had to push him out of APGA to decimate and whittle down his influence.

raumdeuter:

There are 6 states in the NE, Atiku should win Adamawa and Taraba. Buhari clears the rest

NC they split it 3-3

SW Buhari sweeps

SE Atiku sweeps

SS Atiku sweeps with the exception of Edo

That's why I said Atiku needs to win NE, and I mean win BIG, else he will certainly lose. Peter Obi factor will mobilize a lot of igbos to vote for PDP (though his electoral value is shaky considering that his candidate came third during the last election). A lot would also depend on Obiano and APGA's posture concerning his candidacy because as it stands, APGA is the Alpha and Omega in Anambra, though I believe they will vote for him. Like I said earlier, the SW will definitely go APC, just that one can't be sure how large the margin will be. If Yorubas also want to play the 'our son' card, then PDP's nose would be fatally bloodied in the region. The Igbos would have to really turn up in large numbers for Atiku, as much as or even more than they did for Jonathan; they will definitely rig some of their votes again just like the did the last time for GEJ. SW PDP (especially the Yorubas) would also have to really turn up for Atiku to get some decent numbers in the region, but that would depend on how they generally accept this news of Peter Obi VP candidacy (if they receive it with an ambivalent 'i don't care attitude', that will be all that APC would need to completely dominate the polls in the region). I don't expect the YOruba PDP members in the SW to be as fired up as their igbo PDP counterparts though, for obvious reasons. Let's see how it goes. Very interesting months ahead of us all.

SW is going APC come 2019, no doubt about that, and the margin might be crazy because the stakes will be higher. But my worry for Atiku is that while I have no doubt that Peter Obi will help him in the SS/SE, I am not so sure he will deliver NE. If Buhari beats him silly in NE then he is toast.

OBJ likes feeling important though. I felt he was too condescending in his remarks leading up to the so-called forgiveness, as if he is holier than Atiku. Asides the symbolic boost that his endorsement adds to Atiku's candidacy, I don't see how he will help him at the polls when it really gets down to it. Just saying.

Politics / Re: Atiku Vs Buhari: Why Buhari May Still Win by WisdomFlakes: 4:01pm On Oct 11, 2018
In a way I share you fears. Another problem that may work against Atiku is the perception that his popularity is being fueled mainly by the South. Comparatively, voter apathy is more prevalent down South than in the North, and unless the South comes out en masse (particularly the SS and SE) to vote for him like they did for Jonathan, I am afraid he will lose. undecided
