Wikipedia says we joined in 1986, that's a long time ago. We join in 1986 and so? Does that justifies the action? When does saying the truth amount to causing religious war? |
Politics › Why Is Nigeria A Member Of Organization Of Islamic Corporation (OIC) ? by wisdomguy4u(op): 1:39pm On Aug 16, 2015 |
According to the 2001 CIA Factbook and other sources 50% of the population in Nigeria are Muslim, 40% Christian and 10% follows traditional beliefs. In terms of Nigeria's major ethnic groups' religious affiliations, the Hausa ethnic group in the North is mostly Muslim, the West which is the Yoruba tribe is divided among Islam, Christianity, and traditional religions, while the Igbos of the East and the Ijaw in the South are predominately Christians (Catholics) and some practitioners of traditional religions. The middle belt of Nigeria contains the largest number of minority ethnic groups in Nigeria and they are mostly Christians and members of traditional religions with few Muslim converts. This means that Nigeria is nearly equally divided between christians and the moslems. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religion_in_NigeriaSo, how do Nigeria qualified to be a member of Islamic country? Where Countries like Indian and Ethiopia with mixed religion like Nigeria are not member countries. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Member_states_of_the_Organisation_of_Islamic_CooperationWe are looking for how to end boko haram, but don't you think this is the root cause of the problem? Being a member of OIC places a responsibilities on you , which one of them involves promoting islam in all ramification . Nigeria which is predominately Christians and moslems should not in anyway be a member country in any religious organization. it's obvious that the joining of Nigeria to the OIC was done by a moslem leader without any regard whatsoever for the sensibilities of Nigerians of other faiths which is unacceptable. It's high time the christians in Nigeria stand in one voice and put all hands on desk to ensure that Nigeria is entire removed from membership of OIC. As long as Nigeria remain a member, we all shall always be seen and regarded as moslems as far as the outside world is concern, and islam will always be seen as the dominant religion. |

ibotjaycob: What did the Igbos expect when they killed the Prime Minister of Nigeria, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, the Premier of Northern Nigeria, Ahmadu Bello and the Premier of Western Nigeria, Samuel Akintola and did not kill a single Igbo leader, such as Nnamdi Azikwe (Nwafor Orizu) and Michael Okpara? May I add here that the following military officers were also killed in the 15th January 1966 coup d’état: Brigadier Zakariya Maimalari (North), Colonel Kuru Mohamed (North), Lt. Colonel Abogo Largema (North), Lt. Colonel James Yakubu Pam (North), Brigadier Samuel Adesujo Ademulegun and his civilian pregnant wife (West), Colonel Robert A. Shodeinde (West) That coup was never an Igbo coup. Some yorubas , hausas and other tribe were involved in the coup. Two Igbo soldiers attached to tafawa balawa security were also killed. If 1963 coup was an Igbo coup, which coup is that of 197- mutala muhammad coup, buhari coup, babangida coup, Abacha coup. The military plans and execute coup for their personal reasons , and not for a certain tribe. The mass Killing of igbo innocent indigenes in the North in 1966 was such a cruel, stupid and myopic thing to do, and can never be justify in anyway. The mass killing of Igbos indigenes in different parts of Nigeria prompted the succession. When u are being killed, you will be forced to defend yourself . |

The Rivers state students in the UK say they have been abandoned. The ones in the US are also complaining. Below is what they wrote in; Imagine staying in a foreign country where due to visa-type, you are not allowed to work as a student and yet you have had to feed and source for accommodation from strangers or squat with friends for about 4 months during the summer break. So far none of us have had to sleep under a bridge to pass a night, but time has come for us to resume school and we need help as we cannot do much to help our predicament. Some of us can not even afford our fare back to school. we urgently need the Rivers State government to meet their responsibilities to us and pay our fees, including tuition and upkeep allowances owed for 8 months. Rivers State (U.S based) students are faced with the issue of being dropped out of school due to the fact that their tuition have not been paid since last year. Some schools have issued deadlines with the earliest being 15th August, 2015 for the fees to be paid, otherwise, the students would not be enrolled for the semester or even register for classes. It is disheartening to know that our government has failed us in that regard and if nothing is done about our predicament, we would most likely lose our F1 student status and may face deportation. http://lindaikeji..co.ke/2015/08/rivers-state-sponsored-students-in-us.html?m=1

Isaac Adaka Boro
Personal details
Born September 10, 1938 Oloibiri, Bayelsa State
Died May 9, 1968 Ogu,Okrika Rivers State
Children Deborah Waritimi, Esther Boro,Felix Boro
Profession Minority Rights Activism, Soldiering
Major Isaac Jasper Adaka Boro (September 10, 1938 – May 9, 1968), fondly called "Boro", was a celebrated Nigerian nationalist and Nigerian civil war hero. He was one of the pioneers of minority rights activism in Nigeria.[1][2]
In his autobiography, "The Twelve-Day Revolution", Boro wrote about his early life:
"I am reliably informed that I was born at the zero hour of twelve midnight on 10 September 1938, in the oil town of Oloibiri along humid creeks of the Niger Delta. My father was the headmaster of the only mission school there. Before I was old enough to know my surroundings, I was already in a city called Port Harcourt where my father was again the headmaster of another mission school. This was in the early forties. The next environment where I found myself was in my home town, Kaiama. My father had been sent there to head a school yet again."[3]
He was many parts and different things to different people - a university students leader, a teacher, policeman and Nigerian army officer. An undergraduate student of chemistry and student union president at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, he left school to lead an armed protest against the exploitation of oil and gas resources in the Niger Delta areas which benefitted mainly the federal government of Nigeria and the eastern region with capital in enugu and nothing was given to his Ijaw people. He believed that the people of the area deserved a fairer share of proceeds of the oil wealth. He formed the Ijaw Volunteer Force, an armed militia with members consisting mainly of his fellow Ijaw ethnic group. They declared the Niger Delta Republic on February 23, 1966 and gallantly battled the Federal forces for twelve days but were finally routed by the far superior Federal firepower. Boro and his compatriots were jailed for treason. However, the federal regime of General Yakubu Gowon granted him amnesty on the eve of the Nigerian civil war in May 1967. He then enlisted and was commissioned as a major in the Nigerian army. He fought on the side of the Federal Government but was killed under mysterious circumstances in active service in 1968 at Ogu (near Okrika) in Rivers State.
Later Niger Delta activists like the late Ken Saro-Wiwa, who substituted Boro's gun for a pen, and Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, who heads an Ijaw armed insurgency, often referred to him as a major inspiration. You are really working hard ...lol. You said Dokubo referred ken saro-wiwa as his major inspiration, Hope you know that Dokubo has acknowledge biafra? . Hahaha..so my bro you are all alone with your opinion. Wake up b4 it's too late |

Nigeria cant break into two. that is not possible. it will break into minimum of five countries. USSR broke into more than twenty(20) countries. I know Delta will surely take sides with biafra. I don't know about you guys in Edo. Anyway, a referendum will decide. One thing I know is that nobody will force anybody to join biafra. It will be a matter of choice |

atbu1983: If you are from south south and you think we will be better off with BBIAFRA you must be making a big mistake. I know what you are thinking. I am a petroleum engineer. You are seeing it from the point of view that Niger delta oil will have less people to feed. that is a very myopic way to see it. it is far more than that.
You can see even Rivers PDP is commending buhari for Ogoni UNEP report implementation fast tracking. That is how we the south south do our things. we are not children of bitterness and hatred and wailing waling
Election is in the past. we are now concentrating on a better Nigeria. this clearly shows we have no hatred or anything against Buhari or the north. Please our IGBO neighbour, count us out from ur hatred and bigotry. we wont buy it.
We know IGBO don't love us. Because in Nigeria IGBO are not in control, they want a country were they will control others. Whether in Nigeria or in BBIAFRA we the south south will still be minority. we are better off in Nigeria where we are the BRIDE with three grooms fighting to have us than in BBIAFRA were we will have no choice than to comply and even change our official language to IGBO. in BBIAFRA south south nations will lose their identity.
We the south south are not against Nigeria breaking. But if Nigeria will break, we will want to have our own Nation not BBIAFRA. We will prefer a nation formed by only south south nations were it will be difficult to have one major tribe ruling over us. For us south south, it is either one Nigeria or we will form our own nation. we don't want a country with Oduduwa republic, BBIAFRA republic or Arewa republic. That will be moving from frying pan to fire. What are you spewing ? The fact is that if ever biafra comes to past, their will be a referendum to decide who joins the new country. I see no SE forcing the SS to join them, but I believe a lot of SS will prefer to join biafra than remain in Nigeria. In biafra we will have only the Ibos to drag with , unlike in Nigeria where we have the yorubas, Hausas , igbos to drag with. The SS in all verification have better option with biafra , than Nigeria. |
