zed7: So many dysfunctional families, nonwomder a lot of Nigerians are bitter and heartless.
Mine was strict, morally upright and disciplined. However, we as kids thought he was too strict and moved away, drawing closer to mum. Now I realize he meant well but his ways of showing it was a bit too strict.
As a father now, I try to imbibe the good side of him while also learning to dialogue with my kids and showing affection openly. While I wouldn't hesitate to discipline them, I wouldn't also hesitate to show them how much I love them.
This is so emotional, thank God you for him. My condolences
GboyegaD: It wasn't the best but it was great. He was always around, would call the landline everyday when we were growing up to be sure we had our lunch as at when due, did our homeworks etc. He would call when he is closing from work and on days he's not coming home straight from work, he calls so that we can inform my mom when she gets back.
I used to rush home from lesson to listen to their daily activities and all the jokes he would crack. I enjoyed his presence growing up however, while I appreciated the fact that he made us independent in terms of our choices, I sometimes felt he could have been a bit more strict on us.
He doesn't condone nonsense and he is a disciplinarian however, he respects boundaries and respects your choice. One thing I enjoyed most was his quote "you bear the consequences of your actions. The glory or shame/pain that comes with them are yours to bear. We will share in it however, the major part is yours." This has always guided me.
I enjoyed my days as a professional back in Nigeria particularly, when I was having issues with my group head. He retired as a HR consultant and his advice was I shouldn't resign rather I should open an anonymous email and report my challenges to the HR. All this helped when it got to the brim and the Head of HR said he was moving me to another group based on the evidence I have documented.
On the very personal side, we were very cool however, he had his expectations of me and being the rebellious guy I was, I often times fell short. I enjoyed how he stays awake/ wakes up and address each of us whenever we get back since we will always pass by their room. He will most times come to the sitting room to ask how the day fared and tell us what each person is having for dinner.
Two days before he passed on, he charged me to take care of everyone. I guess I just wasn't sensitive because he told my younger sister he was told he passed his exams. At the hospital, he told the doctor he was well and he wanted to go home but I thought he meant our physical home. I miss him now that I have my own family. Wish I could talk to him and appreciate him more because when life threw lemons at him(my parents), he(they) made lemonades out of it and we are grateful.
Thank you so much for listening to mom and thank you so much for choosing the right path. God bless your mom
poshestmina: That man was a thorn in our flesh earlier.... choose women and alcohol over us.
But now,he's old and fragile. Same mom he maltreated for years is the one taking care and making sure we reach out to him . I just send money to him once in a while and call him once sometimes.
Only good thing he did was making sure all his children graduated except the last born .
Maryjane001: Relationship with my dad is excellent. I never wished for a more better father. He is always there for his children. Pops would give out his last card and wear less quality clothes just to make us comfortable. Working 24/7 to provide for us. So I always try my best to help out during holidays. He thought us how to value money and work hard. He teaches us politics, business, better communication skills and many more Even in my next life, my dad would be my dad.
Some women feel their money is their money and the man's money is family money
bammy00: There was a period of about 14 months my wife was earning more. The details aren't pretty. I'm never the insecure or jealous type but fear women. If my wife from ground zero could rub it in just fear women.
PrimadonnaO: It has been stated severally that most women are hypergamous... they want to be with men who are above them in all the ways that matter.
So most men become insecure because they suddenly begin to feel they've fall short of what they're supposed to be in a home.
And in most cases, to be honest, many women tend to be uncontrollable when they earn significantly higher.
****** This is one of the catalysts of feminism. Women are now educated, smart, outspoken, and are making their own good money, so they're asking men "what makes you special?"
********* Everyone should feel secure in their worth, though. Alarm bells shouldn't start ringing in a man's head the very minute he finds out his wife/partner earns higher. It's not every woman who'll rub it in. So many women are the breadwinners in their homes, and everything is just fine.
thorpido: Jealous is not the word......... insecure is more like it. Not every man feels that way, it's a plus for the family if she earns more. The issue here is what KIND of woman is she?
midolian: Simple answer is..It is the nature of women
Ever wondered why most of the rich ladies today are not married? it's simply because they don't want to take permission for everything they do. They cherish freedom. I want to go to the club, why should a man who calls himself my husband stop me from doing so? "You are a married woman"...."and so what?"
We all read about a lady twerking on every street after breaking up with her husband. She already made enough money but what she lacked was freedom until she got it...she had to clap her ass to celebrate that...
I used to be a consultant to a company in Port-harcourt. For about 5 years, I was there until recently. You want to know what I found out? 98% of the women working in that company are either not married or divorced. How did I know this? When you try to respect them by calling them Mrs, you will be swiftly corrected...pls call me miss...and when you start to call them miss, you will see the joy in their face even without looking
BabbanBura: The demon in women shows up more when she feels she doesn't need her husband to meet her needs. The best way to test a woman's submission, coolness, obedience is when she is enough to take care of her needs and even spare for you.
The best way to test a man's loyalty and respect for his woman is when he is super reach and / or highly powerful to afford anything he wants
Before I take the long walk I make sure I put in my best, even his family blamed him. I always come out open and ask for a round table conversation. He came back asking to marry me but I refused because he claimed to change, he called my family members but I told them no. He is married now but we're still friend's and his wife knows me. All those times he said he changed he didn't but did when I didn't come back he confessed that. When you walk out of some people's life you help them become better. Do you understand?
bigpicture001: Maybe I do....I have a great gf..very exceptional. I wrong her sometimes. That's mostly cuz we came from different clime, upbringing ,etc..sh gets angry and 3x decided to leave.. Sh has same policy as you...I beg and beg til sh changes her mind..but sh noticed I am genuinely changing for better after each of these attempted break up,sh now realized its it different societal impact that made our ways so different...
For example, where I grew up,to make one certain of wot ur saying,u swear with God or ur life etc..but sh finds its very awkward and fears these swears might com to hunt me later..but I don't even take it as anything.. Cuz its very common where I grew up..while sh grew up learning never to swear..... U see?..
Many times we fall only to get up nd know know the road better
We all know what we want and attract the type of people we want. Thank you for stopping by tho
bigpicture001: The personal choice part I can relate with....am not boasting babe...I am a very good guy...and I know how gud guyz feel on the inside..sex as a tool to spice up relationship and bond has been bastadaized by bag guyz who take it for granted because its comes in so readily available nd cheap this days
But that still hasn't taken its effect if creating huge bond away..if a good nd responsible guy taste sex with his gf.it will mk him stick to her even more..it is a great bond maker..u could get a man seriously commuted to u just by having sex sha..(gud men).
Again u have to watch it cu of sexual compatibility in marriage..ppl have to be way so compatible in that aspect.yes, you can say ,u haven't experienced it so ur body can't rate it when the right time comes..what about your eventual partner who knows what is good and bad sex. He might start getting uninterested in ur sexual advances in marriage even with the first six months....
I have spoken to a lot of people about this subject matter and what I hear is very sad. Some men don't feel safe with their wives earning better than them but it's suppose to be a plus.
Marriage is a forever journey for me and it's not included, that is why I don't rush into the discussion of marriage. Now, I'm talking about relationship and if you ever had a personal relationship with me you will understand what I'm talking about, I give my best and all whan I'm in a relationship but you start choking me with sadness and do the things I hate we're done and there is no turning back. The said ex is a close friend till date. Life is that tha discuss. Hope you understand?
bigpicture001: So u believe your husband can't wrong you..? Or u will also walk away..?
Babe this are rules u set up before u became an adult DAT thinks deep before they conclude..the most important thing is that he realized he is wrong and apologised and u felt his genuine sorry......
If its not a grave wrong he did to you, accept him back, after all the next guy ur seeking didn't fall from heaven
