The reaction of the lady to Peter Obi's utterance, shown below, would be that of reasonable and law-abiding Nigerians to the shockingly repellent talk of someone who wants to be President of the biggest black nation on Earth yet is sounding like a terror sympathiser.

Of course Nairaland is not full of reasonable and law-abding Nigerians so I don't expect many to agree with the Lady's disgust at Obi's insensitive and lawless talk.

Okay. Assuming but not conceding that you are correct, who destroyed the Labour party? I'm waiting.
Obi did with his predatory, hands-off and cynically divisive machinations. He did same with APGA which led to Bianca Ojukwu criticising him vehemently for destroying what had husband had handed Obi on a platter of gold before he died..

Stop trying to decieve people with your dishonesty. Kenneth Okonkwo, in details, made it crystal clear Obi destroyed and incapacitated Labour Party hence his personal decision to leave.

Show integrity for once, if you can, and quit the attempt to manipulate along with your penchant for revising history fraudulent.

If not that your are an emotional and prejudiced person, would you not have accepted the sense in what some of us told you that Atiku you worship is fundamentally unfit to be a competent or natural leader with how he never remains with his troops (the Nigerian people) in war, preferring to residing in Dubai, only to show up in peace time, demanding promotion into greater office?

Leadership does not work like that bruv and any dispassionately objective person would understand that.

Politics › Re: Bayelsa Deputy Gov, Dickson Reject Diri’s Defection To APC by WizardOfNG:
AMINDA:
Was it Atiku’s ambition that has also destroyed the Labour party? You are watching what is clearly a destruction of the political parties with the first and second runner-up in the last election by the government using state apparatus, and you choose to call it what it's not. There was nothing Peter Obi nor Atiku could have done to stop what is currently happening. We have an emerging dictator determined to become the next Paul Biya, and you had better call it what it is. Atiku merely contested an election, and that is his democratic right.
Trust you to always have an emotional take on issues to be peddling conspiracy theory instead of accepting those you support, because of ethnocentric hatred of Tinubu you want them to remove from office, are failures not up to the job of leading anything , i.e Political Parties, or anyone i.e other political leader.

How can a Proper leader, who has become the head of a Party say what Obi did (shown below) when all real and competent leaders should know it is political Party platforms that gains them office?

Meaning they must, as a matter of duty rather than choice, help any political Party they lead to become better and more efficient to be best placed to help all in the Party win elections and office which is what politics is about for politicians.

In fact I came across what is shown below when Kenneth Okonkwo left Labour and cited the bolded, indicating Obi's dereliction of duty, as one of several developments that convinced him Obi does not have what it takes to become President".

Does even basic intelligence not tell Obi he should never have uttered the bolded as it directly confirms Obi does not care about the Labour Party and is only using it? Imagine if Tinubu said same about APC?

The only thing PBAT is guilty of is being an excellent leader at all levels be that as Political Party boss, leader of other leaders, unifier, great crisis/conflict management, effective gaurdian of the best interest of those he leads ,visionary political strategising etc, etc.

Blame Obi and Atiku for lacking those leadership qualities rather than suggest Tinubu is trying to destroy the opposition.

A proper leader protects his territory and all under him. Dont blame PBAT for Atiku and Obi's lack of capacity to do that. Don't look after your wife well, then dont blame her when she leaves to be with better.

“We promised to build Nigeria; we did not promise to build a New Labour Party.”
In March 2024, commenting on ignoring the Labour Party’s convention under Julius Abure, Obi said he was more passionate about building “a new Nigeria” than building a “new Labour Party.”

Thread for failured and frustrated elements who do not understand that a man fights not flees. A man loses a duel he congratulates the winner and better man, to learn lessons, not weep and demand long-standing rules be changed for him like a coward.

I don't know how sane folks can discuss this defection affair as anything other than the failing of PDP that let a selfish and self-absorbed 'traveller' politician, in Atiku, hijack and destroy their Party only for everyone to be hyperventilating at Tinubu who is excellent at uniting others, leading them plus improving processes and organisational efficacy.

Obi too has been a completely worthless, divisive and polarising leader in Labour Party who has made the Party worse and less attractive to its members let alone a platform anyone will wish to defect to.

Losers can keep crying. APC will only get greater and better under Tinubu who sees all below him and is in tune with their needs unlike leadership misfits like Atiku and Obi who only see their own ambitions alone without understanding they must respect the people and processes that will allow them achieve that ambition.

At the end of the day, and as is normal in life, people flock to powerful and confident leaders they know will protect them and work for their interest.

It is only El-Rufai and his band of ADC travelers that are making noise. Atiku should just retire, support Bola Tinubu, and by 2031 give his blessing for a competent Northern President.
Absolutely. If there is one thing the best and most decent in the North appreciate it is gentlemanly behaviour, loyalty, nobility, uprightness and being a man of your word.

Tinubu showed all of that with his unwavering support for Buhari and the North over 8 years our former President was in power even as he ostracised Asiwaju due to bad advice from Malami etal.

It is instructive that Dantata, before his death, as an influential pillar of Nigeria from the North who rarely identified with any politician, made exception to meet Tinubu and pray for him before the 2023 election.

The problem with the known haters of Nigeria, who will always be too emotional and bitter to ever ubderstand politics, is that they think all Northern leaders are cut in same clothe as Atiku, El rufai, Malami, Tambuwal, Sule Lamido etal.

Keep fooling yourself "Mr.Lagos Igbo". ChatGPT will say that because it is the right answer respectful of the facts on paper. In reality, and accounting for human feelings, an Igbo will never be Governor of Lagos. Not in my lifetime anyway.

The ways Yorubas envisage their future cannot accommodate inclusion of Igbos in SW political or public leadership of the State.

You Igbos, of over 200 ethnic groups in Lagos, are the only ethnic group always fighting Lagos Yoruba administraors and calling them out for "targeting" Igbos "unfairly". Yorubas have worked out you do this because you are desperate to lead Lagos and define it in an Igbo Image.

Sadiq Khan is mayor of London same as Nigerians are political leaders in the UK and USA etal because, though settlers, indigenes feels those people share ideals and goals with them.

Meaning their States, Cities and even Nations are safe in the hands of those who may have arrived through immigration but love the land, and are fully dedicated to serving it and all within it , as anyone else.

Nobody, certainly not Yorubas these days, feel that way about Igbos. The days of Igbos in Lagos political, ironically the attempt of Tinubu you lot hate so much to liberally accommodate Igbos better, are gone because of you lots fck-up. Go and ask the Igbos who once held political office in Lagos and they will confirm things have changed.

In fact, with your antics and constant obsession with fighting Yroubas in Lagos, when you are not the only ethnic group there in significant number, it is crystal clear to most Yorubas today you people have an agenda of malevolent and expansionist takeover of Lagos.

Yorubas won't let that happen with what they know will be first serious attempt by you lot to achieve such. I.e Igbos Governor of Lagos.
Politics › Re: Is Chatgpt Right On This Issue About Lagos State Check It Out by WizardOfNG:
Lol. OP is just winding negroes up. Nothing like Lagos Igbo and nothing like Igbo Governor of Lagos.

The huge fck-up of Igbos in 2023 put paid to that permanently if there had even been a sliver of hope before that.

Besides, before 2023, Yorubas had already decisively resolved to base their future Governance structure on seeking greater regional autonomy.

They reached that conclusion based on complete disillusionment with 'one Nigeria' that condemns all people and regions to failure.

It therefore goes without saying people planning for greater regional autonomy, in search of a SW driven by a homogenous Yoruba socio-economic and cultural identity, will certainly never be interested in an Igbo as Governors.

Problem is that Igbos because of nothing other than greed for what others have, like swimming against the tide.

All Nigerians, even core Northerners, are reading the writing on the wall but Igbos, as usual, because of expansionist and usurpational greed plus covetousness.

We all know several regions (at least SW, SS, North Central) welcome the concept of greater regional autonomy because of the damage 'One Nigeria' has done.

Only Igbos, with pro-regional autonomy sentiment inevitably the future of Nigeria same as smartphones came to stay, will still remain fantasising about being governor in the States and region of others instead of looking homewards to the SE.

This is something Obi does not even have an iota of. Whether your wish to accept it or not, it is a legitimate and accepted norm of politics worldwide for Parties to woo and gain valuable defectors from other Parties that will give them greater numbers where it matters.

A pledge is not a debt

They don't have such funds.
A pledge is a statement of intent. Of course I know a pledge does not make them indebted to Nigeria.

Nonetheless, and accounting for overstatements when nations pledge to invest in others, it is encouraging and exciting for our future they see Nigeria as a worthy destination of such huge investments.

As I said earlier, even taking into account over-optimistic claims natural to these trade talks, half or even a third of that amount over 10 years would be great for Nigeria.

Per lack of funds, some are naturally future projections. Crucial to bear in mind also their wealthy industrialist and business giants, like our Dangote and Adenuga etal join our Presidential trade missions, Will form part of these trade delegations and often signify interest in investing during talks. This also influence pledges as well.

With investment, particularly with private sector investment, there is also an aspect covering securing external capital if feasibility report establish that very good ROI is possible.

Ultimately the situation is related to Qatar pooling together Government wealth, in their SWF for example, and Qatari private investors wealth.

C',mon now.
It is $300 billion USD to be invested over ten years. How is that unfeasible?

Even if it is an optimistic estimate, anything North of $150 billion USD invested in Nigeria over 10 years is commendable.

I therefore don't see the rationale behind rushing to try and discredit this announcement especially given the calibre of those who made the pledge.

A Qatari business delegation, led by a member of the country’s ruling family, Sheikh Abdulrahman Hamad N. H. Al-Thani, has announced plans to invest about $300 billion in various sectors of the Nigerian economy over the next decade.

Her statement below is 100% true as I see it in person on the ground because of direct engagement in several business sectors.

Ambitious Nigerians should focus on learning of the opportunities available because the way the economy is opening up to diverse investments market, it will be about "early bird gets the worm".

Meaning if we are distracted or disinterested then foreign-owned investment will dominate and sideline Nigerians in Nigeria.

“Let me quote them: ‘If you do not invest in Nigeria between now and the next 10 years, you’re locked out.’ After that, there will be nothing to invest in again in Nigeria, because by then we’ll be reaping our returns on equity,” Odutola said.

You've got where I was going with this thread. This is not abou the Government and President. Especially not a Southern President.

This is about how dangerously sabotaged and compromised, from within, our Army is by Fulani conspiracy abetted by all levels of their leadership i.e political, religious, cultural and military.

This is not something a President can do much about because he cannot reform the minds of military officers who work for the Nigerian army but host greater ideological loyalty to their religion, kinsmen and leader at various levels of their society.

The usual haters of Yorubas can keep making noise but, like you, I have also said a Rwanda style internecine strife, along ethnic lines, is what Nigeria is facing if good people from the North do not take responsibility for how many in their region are tacitly backing insurgency.

It is preposterous to think a committed, motivated and professional army, NPF and Airforce, that is fully supported by all leaders, with our armed forces all homogeneously dedicated to their official duty and mandate, cannot wipe out terrorists and bandits from the North within three months.

It isn't that difficult if all Parties pretending to want an end to insecurity are truly and sincerely on the same page. Which is not the case with Nigeria and I doubt will ever be because of our very toxic divisions across religious, ethnic and cultural lines.

Militaries, even the mightiest, find it difficult to defeat insurgents whose motivation is ideological. Worse still in the case of Nigeria where the military is compromise.
