yarimo:Atiku has to try because it is his last chance to become President. Yet he will fail against a formidable incumbent President. Obi has zero hope. Events have overtaken him and Tinubu is now President meaning the playing field is different and not one favourable to Obi who is now yesterday's man and way less appealing than he was before th 2023 election. GEJ has not stated he will contest and I doubt he will. If anything, he will swing behind Tinubu and endorse him publicly. Tinubu will win in 2027 fairly easily. |
beerfraud:No ethnic group in the whole world more emptily braggart than those people. Lol. |
Streetinvestor2:Lol. More empty threats as usual. That is all you people are about. Scan Nairaland to see several threads with your kinsmens bragging, before Kanu was nabbed in Kenya, that "arrest Kanu and Nigeria burns down". Nigerians now know you people are discredited and empty noisemakers not to be taken seriously. |
Tinubu never joins issues with anyone pettily. He goes to a corner to reflect on how to deal with you if you become a problem to him. Kanu will beg last last. Even then , with time in custody taken into account, he may still spend substantial time in prison after being found guilty. We all should remember that this is the same Tinubu, before he became President, Kanu directed his mob to hunt down and kill during #EndSARS as if he is some General directing a formidable Army. |
APCNig:You keep repeating yourself perhaps because you have personalised reasons for wishing Badenoch does not become UK Prime Minister. Again, I don't care either way. My point remains that removing Stamp duty altogether is a very brave and alluring pledge considering the best all former Prime Ministers have done is to move stamp duty payment threshold upwards which is quickly nullified by how UK properties were rising in value. |
APCNig:Not her fan so I don't care either way. Point is that this is a pledge that will resonate well with Britons. Those looking to buy property, and are already on a tight budget, will appreciate what abolishment of stamp duty means in practice. |
APCNig:This is why Badenoch's pledge is attractive. In periods of economic downturn, voters gravitate towards leadership candidates who pledge to help them retain more of their money. Abolishing stamp duty completely is big and attractive. I've paid it several times grudgingly and would consider voting Badenoch for that pledge alone, if a potential property buyer, even as I am not entirely supportive of her overall. She may not become PM but she is clever, ambitious and giving it a good go. One has to give her that. |
Ruke1991:And the Yoruba hater shows face. How market today bro? Sold any 'wares'? Conquered any hateful souls for your 'army'? |
Badenoch silences the Tory plotters as her 'bold' plan to ABOLISH stamp duty is hailed by Kirstie Allsopp and economists after barnstorming conference speechKirstie Allsopp is a superstar BTW. Her location, location, location show was one of my most addictive TV shows for ages. She is literally human gold dust to potential property buyers in the UK who want information about making the best property purchase choices. Her instant endorsement of Badenoch, over her stamp duty abolishment pledge, is hugely weighty in my opinion. |
Figger:The same way you hate the Government "with ur life" is also the way others believe in that same Government totally. Why can't you accept that, as sensible adults would, without insinuating others have an ulterior motive for supporting the PBAT Government whereas you want us to believe those of you hate same Government are saints and lovers of Nigeria with no ulterior and sinister motives? Understand democracy properly. It will show you that all are allowed to make their pitches and have their say, without prejudice, but the majority will have their way. That's the beauty of democracy because it is not about emptily proclaiming you are right and others are wrong but about the argument the majority accept and vote for. |
truthera:You think I care what you think? You believe Nairalanders are too dumb to see through you? My friend, do your thing here and I do mine. You know your motivation. I understand mine. |
I'm with her on this. Stamp duty is cynically exploitative and opportunist. It should have been rescinded at least decades ago. She may be currying for votes but the British property-buying public, especially in the residential property market, will love this pledge to abolish a punitive burden against property purchase. |
casualobserver:Well-said. So many have lost respect for Igbos because it is now Kanu, Ekpa, Chinasa Nworu, Mefor, Ikonso, Gentle De Yahoo and co speaking and acting on behalf of a 30 million plus people that is one of the biggest ethnic groups in Africa. Where is this done or seen globally? Even Obi they have adopted as their political messiah is one of the worst political leader, if not the worst, Igbos can present. Yet, thinking men will understand that what we are seeing today, with Igbos choosing their worst to represent and speak for them, is what will predictably happen when a people are hateful and emotional to the extent their capacity for rational and logical decision-makibg is compromised. Good luck to them. In life, we must all lay in the beds we make for ourselves even if such is constructed with sharp 6 inch nails in place of a mattress. |
Commentor:Lol. Let them continue fooling themselves. Under their messiah Obi, Labour Party has lost direction, strength and public representatives. Ditto PDP. How many, in Nigerian public office, have left APC to go elsewhere? People who ignore facts, and what they direct them to note, always weep profusely in the end. |
Overall, fair and objective commendation, balanced with constructive criticism, from Sanusi. I however disagree with his view on agriculture because he does not admit serious insecurity, specially driven by his Fulani people, has damaged agricultural yield in Benue, "the food basket" of Nigeria, and most areas of the North. Sanusi is intelligent enough to know that it is pointless talking about Nigeria "strengthening its agricultural value chain" without considerable improvement in security. I guess his rejection of seeing and stating the obvious is because his people are directly responsible for doing serious damage to the agricultural sector of Nigeria, and the prospect of improving it, through banditry and killings/intimidation of farmers. Sanusi knows other regions that had conceded the agricultural sector to the North, because of the concept of competitive advantages, cannot create commercial scale crop farms overnight. As usual, and with most Fulanis in leadership like Atiku and El Rufai etal, he is being economical with the truth and not admitting the role his people, he is never brave enough to call out for the greater good of Nigeria, play in getting Nigeria into the mess she is in today. https://www.google.com/amp/s/thesun.ng/food-security-threatened-as-6-year-banditry-ravages-benue-report/

Celestialsword:The child is too young and not physically fit to take such flogging. Don't you get that? Like many said, this is frustration-driven transferred aggression. I was caned in secondary school in Lagos but teachers did it properly. They would tell you that you will recieve 6 strokes of the cane and tell you to stretch out your hand. They don't flog you indiscriminately across every part of your body. |
wunmi590:It is and other States need to follow as you said. Part of the reason violent crime is increasing rapidly in Nigeria is because punishment for them is not stiff enough to serve as a deterrent for wannabe kidnappers, ritual killers, bandits, terrorist, armed robbers, cultist killers etc. https://ondostate.gov.ng/index.php/2025/06/27/security-ondo-govt-approves-death-penalty-for-kidnappers/
|
mukthar2000:Yes I agree with that. That child is too young for that sort of flogging that should be reseverved for armed robbers lol. |
nairalanda1:Yes I understand that but commonsense should teach sane adult this child is too young, physically, for this sort of punishment. I understand discipline is good but an adult should know a child that young and that little could be seriously hurt by such punishment. Personally, I think a lot of Nigerians carry around too much anger and rage than is healthy. |
wunmi590:That one won't be able to get visa to many organised nations of the West anyway because of his criminal conviction. UK, USA, Canada and virtually every European nation will reject him for sure. I am happy with this bill and hope it scales through. Nigeria needs sanity on so many level. Read that Governor Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State , through his state House of assembly, has moved for death sentence for kidnappers and I'm thinking why can't the entire Nigeria adopt this commonsensical and badly needed punishment? Even armed robbery should be included. |
wellmax:Lol. Correct talk. They will begin claiming marginalisation when they are indeed factually the largest number of people, with Nigerian passports, convicted of criminal acts overseas. @Topic. Good development. The world is becoming more anti-immigration. Nigeria must act to ensure the actions of a few don't expose good, decent and upright Nigerians to unfair sanctions and discrimination globally. For example, Trumpd does not want to hear anything Mexican at all. He hates them with a passion and woukd deport all, legal and illegal, from the USA if he had the power. |
NgeneUkwenu:That means you know your people and their wrong ways/mindset. |
How can any normal human being flog a child like this? To the point of inflicting injuries that may leave permanent scars? The culprit should be prosecuted. |
FarahAideed:Can we expect any other comment from you, but a negative one, given you were raised in homes and communities where the default attitude is one of hatred and resentment towards Nigeria and your fellow Nigerians? If the bolded is correct then why do Nigerians excel exemplarily once they reach the diaspora? Today many Westerners, like Candace Owens for example, admit to liking how Nigerians have it "together" in terms of ambition, focus on academic excellence, strong sense of cultural identity, etc, etc. What gave successful Nigerian diasporans those abilities that enables them to thrive spectacularly in a totally different environment they had no prior experience of other than same Nigeria you claim "has no single benefit" for Nigerians? I don't know how you people cannot realise how you rush to talk, before you engage your conscious thoughts, Mark you out as rabid and irredeemable haters of Nigeria and Nigerians. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OoWHiNGQalE?si=M3J0R14oRIIg0oER |
helinues:Don't mind them. Reno has clarified his findings which confirms Tinubu attended Chicago State University and graduated with honours. Mischief-makers can continue chasing their own tail they will never catch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iumA_Dllje0?si=4rl9W3FRJeptnS7Z |
SeverusSnape:What has this got to do with others? Is it not about Igbos, I.e Okonkwo and Obi, squaring up to each other? |
helinues:Dem plenty na. I call them "enemies within". I.e folks who have lived in the SW for ages, or even born there, enough to speak and understand Yoruba. Yet they remain committed to hating and demarketing Yorubas per the indoctrination they receive in their families and communities that teaches them they must hate and fight Yorubas wherever they meet them. Majority of them, bar a few God has touched their souls, will never have anything good to say about Tinubu and the SW even if both have brought them enormous progress and wealth. |
Yet they can only ever focus on flooding in "terrible and smelly" Lagos. No further comment lol. |
NgeneUkwenu:Precisely. We know why they are that way also. I.e pure and undiluted hatred of Yorubas to the extent they cannot stand the thought of Nigeria becoming great under a Yoruba President. If anyone is on doubt, let them show me proof of Igbos , aside the poster OkoroAwusa alone, showing up on many threads, where the current Government has done very well, to commend President Tinubu. Anyone is free to show me proof of Igbos , in large numbers, commending the exemplary achievement of Tunji-Oji to the extent we don't talk of passport issues here anymore whereas 30 to 50 threads were opened on the issue weekly, on this forum, when Buhari was President. What of student loan, benefitting the North greatly, that removes the problem of promising students being unable to attend university because of poverty? They are even the only folks here, using korokoro lies, to deny power supply has improved significantly under Tinubu than has ever being witnessed since 1999 when our current democracy began. I can go on all day but the conclusion is that knowledgeable people are not fooled. We know why it is them alone who use words like "evil", "wicked" , "killer" etal, as appellations to describe Tinubu, to the extent gullible folks may believe they care about Nigeria and Nigerians more than all else whereas history shows us otherwise and indeed confirms they are the biggest haters of Nigerian and their fellow Nigerians. |
