Elusive001:Please try and practice remaining silent sometimes rather than speak to then show ignorance an 8 year old should not be guilty of. Is it generation alone that gets power into your home? That is your clue and I need say no more. You've embarrassed yourself enough |
OfoIgbo:See excuse ntori oloun 😲😲😳😳 This is something else entirely sha. Let me not talk further and receive ban. |
helinues:Fulanis have truly hit rock bottom per their reputation in the eyes of all other Nigerians. It is time for the good one among them to make the effort to show that their are good, progressive and productive people from the ethnic group. Welcome development in my opinion. Especially the ban on night grazing and wielding of firearms if such will be implemented fastidiously by Miyetti Allah while they also allow Amotekun, NPF etal to deliver justice to Fulanis found flouting these directives. |
SeeWahala:You have nothing to do on Monday morning, supposedly the start of a productive week for focused and ambitious people, than to be looking for those to troll rather than stick to subject matter progressively? |
Good development from Miyetti Allah. If they are sincere with this announcement, and ensure implementation is thorough, then good Fulanis can regain the goodwill Nigerians had for them decades ago in the days of our parents. |
Shebi Tambuwal has now joined ADC. Let's see how many PDP legislator wll following him to the coalition of born-to-rule desperados called ADC. Shior. |
tunde1200:Bro, forget the Yoruba username and their claim of "I am Yoruba but". Most are not Yorubas. We know those in Nigeria who are greatest at impersonation, spreading fake news and deploying propaganda. |
SonofLagos:The bolded is 100% true and no greater proof than how you will never see a single one of them commenting positively or joyously on a thread like. If they are a people who assimilate, rather than seek to dominate always to then get angry and bitter when such is not possible, then they would be in this thread jubiliating over positive developments in a state they live, work and thrive in. Many millions of them for that matter. |
tunde1200:What is hypocritically warped about those people (since they are protected species here you must not mention by name anyhow) is that Kanu they demand is innocent and must be freed is the same individual who directed his disciples, recorded on audio, to burn Lagos, attack and Kill Tinubu, Sanwo Olu etal plus destroys all the known business locations of the leaders of Lagos. China's a Michael obviously obeyed Kanu to then go and burn a BRT park coating billions in damage. Kanu then directed them to ensure no one attacks any corner of the SE. Today his freedom is a regional project for them while they continue to bark that Sanwo Olu, Tinubu etal deserve to be hanged. Is this not shades of the Igbo coup? They remain maniacally supportive of such an evil character, i.e Kanu, yet it is Sanwo Olu, who is not in charge of the Army, they wish to heap blame on over #EndSARS in Lagos . They are something else and I only wish more Yorubas open their eyes to see the obvious |
naptu2:The bolded is the sad reality of Nigeria pragmatic and critical thinking folks know is a big problem for our nation. |
Herkim:Indeed and I know and accept that. My point is related the DAWN initiative "Road Map" which provides innovative plans the SW can use to gain integrated and interdependent progress for all states of the region. For sure no other State can be like Lagos in the SW but Governors can put selfishness aside to be their brother's keeper meaning resources, natural endowment and advantages can be pooled together, with richer States like Lagos, Ogun and Oyo sacrificing, to ensure every SW State can be assisted to develop as much as possible. That is what the DAWN road map advocates and it is a feasible plan as I have read and inspected it. DAWN simplicity is in how it advocates we think as if the SW is one State that needs all her districts developed. Same as a Governor must try to develop all areas of his State. |
naptu2:Dont even sweat it baba. Keep doing your thing. We appreciate your unique and informative contributions here. It is those with hateful and bitter hearts who remain prisoners in their own bodies because, unless they change, they cannot escape the negative thoughts that will be with them always ruining the beauty and joy life is supposed to be about. There is nothing better in life than having a progressive, kind, tolerant, joyous and open-minded soul because such helps to appreciate how beautiful the earth and humanity can be. I feel sorry for those whose DNA makes them the opposite of that. Trouble, as is their historical reality, is all they will get everywhere they go. |
drstranged:Thanks baba. We cannot focus on today only to then become dejected. We must retain hope and optimism and work towards a better future for our generations unborn. What do we wish to leave for them to inherit? A successful and progressive society or a hell hole of suffering and deprivation? Awolowo was a wonderful, visionary , selfless and benevolent leader. He did things for the future of his Yoruba people and would have done same for Nigeria had he been allowed to be President instead of Shagari. If we had ten like him then all of us can simply go to bed every night knowing greatness for the SW is assured. |
Penguin2:Lol. What would these sort of thread be without at least one negative and vitriolic comment from you bad belle lot. You people are simply averse to seeing/praising the progressive actions and deliveries of others. What a terrible way to be. |
WorldRichest:Amaechi is even far better than Obi who is a sad joke as far as political leadership is concerned whereas his people tout him a messiah to then be attacking PBAT. I truly believe PBAT, if in power for 8 years, will faciliate the effective rail linkage of most major cities and districts of the SW to make it an expanded and interdependent economic bloc like the EU. As things Stand, the lagos metro rail has a modular design meaning it can be extended in diffrent directions. The Blue line terminating at Marina currently will reach Epe. From that point it can extend into Ogun State and beyond. So much possibilities for the SW if visionary leadership, as Lagos seems to always have, can anchor the processes needed to deliver accelerated socio-economic development. Clowns like Adeleke and some others need to go though as their sort will always be weak links and clogs in the wheel of progress. |
Ttalk:Indeed. In fact, the greatest and most pivotal period of progress Lagos recorded, post 1999, was achieved while she was in political opposition to the ruling Party under Tinubu and Fashola. It is the reason I will always respect PBAT and Fashola. If Ogun State can get a truly dynamic and visionary Govenor post Dapo Abiodun, and the SW take the implementation of the DAWN regional integration road map very seriously, then we would literally be in another millenium in ten years time. This is why I think other region's focus on the Presidency is misguided. The Presidency is not a magic wand to suddenly make every Nigerian wealthy, happy and fulfilled. What the Presidency should do is remove bottleneck so those who truly want peace, progress and socio-economic greatness can achieve such without 'one Nigeria' impediment. What all regions should be seeking is greater autonomy over their socio-economic decision-making and direction, including full control over security parastatals, so they can make optimal progress commensurate with their human and material endowment if that is indeed what they truly desire. |
Softmirror:Bro, you are trying too hard to redeem yourself. From the start, I condemned the bolded. My point is that virtually all fellow Southerners will condemn such in unison with me and even conduct citizens arrest of the offender to then hand them over to the police because extrajudicial killing of anyone, for any reason, is wrong in the South. Period. Whereas in the North, the lynching of so called religious blasphemers is right and just in the eyes of virtually all Northerners. I really dont get your obtuse and obdurate conduct here. |
stuffs2002:You're shameless and a repellent fundamentalist. Should criminal action not be punishable by order of a Judge in a competent Court of law? It is okay, as you imply, for a public lynch mob to kill, machete and burn someone to death they claim has offended them yet has not been subjected to a fair hearing? Something is wrong with you. What is pathetic is that you do not realize that. |
11doubledee:That is what he should have done to begin with rather than doubling down on his erroneous initial opinion. |
Softmirror:You're lying. You have not established any trend or pattern. No one will tell you killings cannot ever be committed by overzealous Christians, on religious grounds, in the South. Yet such is uncommon and ,when it occurs, will lead to the 100% gauranteed prosecution of the offender in the SE, SW and SS. You've really discredited yourself doubling down on a deceitful and redundant argument when you should have just remained silent when initially engaged over your flawed submission. We ought to be taking the North to task, at every opportunity, to insist they move into modernity, embrace a fair degree of secularity and become more moderate like Turkey etal. Rather than encouraging them, as you are attempting to do gaslighting Christians, to believe it is okay for them to keep moving backwards till they become worse than Somalia, Afghanistan etal. |
stuffs2002:No one should be killed over blasphemy against a religion. As simple as that. What is done in Nigeria is condemned worldwide and attract serious punishment. Mere words, however offensive, warrants execution how? It is the North keeping Nigeria backwards since they simply refuse to move into the modern age, as Turkey and Saudi Arabia etal have done, while your kind abet their madness because you do not understand societies must bravely challenge and reject barbaric behaviour, to grow and thrive, rather than tolerate or make excuses for such.. |
Tijani009:Simple as that but it won't happen because what he has done is commendable in the eyes of many leaders at all levels of society in the North. I.e religious, political, cultural and even security forces leaders. He may have hidden behind defending Islam from "blasphemy" after his advances were spurned by the lady but the fact is no one cares in the North to invesyihate because the common opinion is that instant and extrajudicial death is acceptable punishment for his allegation against the lady for blaspheming Islam. In fact I started this topic because of the similar horrendous killing of Deborah that was alleged to have been a case of her spurning the amorous advances of her killer, a fellow student, who then claimed she insulted Islam to justify her killing. They stoned her to death and burned her. The North, from cultural leaders to religious leader and political leaders failed to condemn the development let alone demand justice foe Deborah Yakubu. In fact it was the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) and the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and many voices and institutions in the South most vocal condemning the development while the North maintained a conspiracy of silence. Atiku even abandoned her and non of the Northerners very vocal about politics today spoke up for her. It has happened again and will keep happening unless we speak to demand action from Northern leaders at all levels since evidence show they are tacitly endorsing what we are seeing hence it's recurrence. |
ruzell86:Absolutely. We must bridge that gap to then be under one constitution and common law or go our seperate ways before such happens violently and at huge cost to Nigeria and Nigerians. It is only Southerners that can take the North to task and force the region to recognise that our constitution and laws are supreme to religion which should be private practice in any nation that is officially secular. For the absence of doubt I repeat it again that Nigeria is a secular nation and not an Islamic nation or Christian one exclusively. Because of cowardice, ignorance, lack of exposure, absence of conviction and indifference, Southerners allow the North get away with what Moslems and Christians cannot get away with in most nations of the world with a considerable population of both. We are a nation with many illiterate, unexposed, over-religious, superstitious and ignorant folks. This was same for many developed nations of the world in the past. They used to burn Witches at the stake in England in the past. Yet the crucial difference is that, once formal education took a foothold in issues, those in the bolded category above were not continously indulged by nations like the UK. They were forced to reform so that society can become better, more progressive and more developed to serve all citizens optimally. Whether Christian kill in the South and Moslem do samein the North, in the name of religion, is not the issue. What is important is that killing on grounds of religion must be a criminal offence with serious punishment to include the death penalty. This is the case in the South but not the North where religion is allowed to overshadow and subjugate Nigerian common laws. How can we ever become a developed nation when we have not even conquered this fundamental disparity crucial to the success of nations? This is why I am an unapologetic supporter of regional autonomy so we can all go and live as we desire in our regions with like-minded people. |
Softmirror:Stop going around in circles and irritatingly. I have made my point crystal clear. Ritual killing is common in the South. Even in my native South West. Yet the right thing is being done to end it i.e the action of clamping down on it by making it a criminal offence that will be punished by the law. So what if Christians killing in the name of religion is common in the South according to you? Is the society and law in the South tacitly supportive of those guilty of the offence, as if they have done good, to the extent they are not even apprehended, when they are known to law enforcement let alone punished as obtains in the North? I have lived majority of my life in a western nation of the world where criminal action , such as murder, are uniformly punishable in the eyes of the law. If you are Pakistani living in the UK you cannot commit 'honour killing' and get away with it, because you daughter married a Christian, as would be the case in Pakistan. Same as no Caucasian Christian fundamentalist can bomb a mosque in Birmingham or London and be sparred lengthy jail sentence because he is 'defending" Jesus. That is the homogeneity of respecting common laws and thinking, over crucial consideration, that makes a people who are very different able to unite and build progressive nations and societies. . If we do not have and cannot build that homogeneous respect for sacrosanct issues, all Nigerians must respect, regardless of religious, ethnic or cultural affiliation, then what hope for us building a great nation together? Bro, you are better than this and tend to make sense most times here. Retrace your step and stop continuation of redundant talk to defend an argument you got wrong from the beginning because you wanted to play to the gallery with a very serious issue the North should be confronted with rather than indulged over as you are doing here. |
Softmirror:I think you are the one not paying attention. The central issues is that premeditated murder, on any ground is wrong and must be condemned consistently across Nigeria. This is the case in Southern Nigeria. In the North, highlighting an area we are not tackling unitedly and you seemingly make excuses for here, religion creates a gray areas for a nation that wishes to succeed by hosting a people who have homogeneity of ideas regarding sacrosanct consideration. For any crime committed by man, only a court should be allowed to decree the punishment of death. Never man in a summary execution. That is how it works in civilised nation. Mentioning Christians committing murder over superstitious belief is merely playing to the gallery on your part because, per the central issue of fundamentalist and religion-related killing, such is condemned and punishable by law across the South in Nigeria. 💯%. In the South, what you kill for does not matter as the law insists you must and will be punished for the offence. The same does not hold for the North where killing in defence of Islam is seen as just and fitting punishment for blasphemy to then create a system disdainful of the common laws of a nation all citizens are obligated to respect. This means a nation that should be one is hosting two contrasting opinion over the gravest crime a man can commit. I.e taking the law into his own hand to execute another. You are educated. Killing for Christianity in the South will not shield you from punishment. The opposite is the case in the North and it is time Nigerians task the North to fall in line and stop acting as if religion is an excuse for them to commit serious offences contravening the common laws of a Nation they belong to. These are issues, if progressive, the likes of Atiku, El Rufai, SLS, Ndume, Datti Baba-Ahmed and so many other Northerners, alway loquacious about politics and power, should tackle and bring clarity to. No gray area, or tacit endorsement, over taking the life of another in the South. Same must apply to the North without religion being allowed to be exoneration for what is the worst crime in life. There always uncomfortable conversation citizens of nations must have, regarding fundamentally crucial issues for the betterment of their nation. Americans even opposed each other, leading to a civil war, because some believed slaves must be free men while others felt otherwise. Your attempt at political correctness shows you don't understand this crucial consideration essential to building a truly United, progressive and peaceful nation. |
Softmirror:I am yet to hear of a case to do with Christians killing over blasphemy againt their God. You cannot compare killings by Christians commited over superstitious fear, which is rare and condemned in the South anyway and will be punished severely, to killings over blasphemy in the North that is common, casually endorsed/approved by most Northerners at all levels of society and therefore goes unpunished. Two very seperate things. Kill in the South over religion and you will be arrested, charged for murder in a competent Court of law and jailed. Same occurrence in over-religious North, where the view that killing in defence of Islam is just and fitting, carries no consequences for the offender. That is wrong and condemnable. The North must criminalise the practice, as is the case with the South , and I believe you should understand the need to respect the sanctity of human life must be consistent across Nigeria otherwise it is a good case for the North and South to be seperate nations. Different people and regions of a nation should not have separate and contradictory viewpoint over fundamentally important issues such as societal endorsement of what is universally condemnable i.e casual killings of our fellow human beings. . |
Mob burns Nigerian woman to death for alleged blasphemy. Chris Ewokor BBC News in Abuja A woman has been burnt to death by a mob in northern Nigeria's Niger state after she was accused of blaspheming the Prophet Muhammad, police have said.https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c5y21zxyd6mo

SmartyPants:Well-said. You are a real "SmartyPants". I don't know why the points you make eloquently is so difficult for some Nigerians to discern given so many reality we are living witnesses to. Such as how Malami, while AGF, declared Amotekun illegal and did everything to prevent the legal birth of the unit so Southerners would remain powerless and disadvantaged against militant Fulani herdsmen Northern big men have armed illegally with AK47 asault rifles to go and cause mayhem across Nigeria. Whereas Hisbah and co are formed overnight in the North. Some Nigerians are self-destructive like lemmings. They will use their own legs to walk off the edge of a cliff to their death merely because their eyes are open but unseeing. |
bjdon:Why do you people keep making this redundant argument? Change is the only thing constant in life. We must embrace State/regional policing as the only answer to our insecurity woes given how Nigeria has evolved. Let Governors abuse it for "political oppression". So far as State policing improves the security of the lives of ordinary Nigerians and their property then let politicians kill themselves for all I care. Making this argument shows you are like Nigerian Pastors who should be saving souls of ordinary Nigerians but more obsessed with talking politics and ingratiating themselves with politicians when such is not done in other nations of the world. You are worried about politicians, a very minute percentage of the population, whereas , and naturally, you should be most concerned for ordinary Nigerians who face the threat of death, kidnap, rape, robbery etal daily that most politicians will never have to experience. The warped personality of Nigeria has made you a worshipper of the elite and political class but you dont know this about yourself. If not you will not use "political oppression", concerning politicians who are likely 0.001% of our population to dismiss State policing that will benefit the majority of Nigerians more than 230 million in number. |
