Mirasteel:What exactly is mysterious about him? If we inspect issues logically, it will be obvious your talk only reveals you are a petty and unprogressive person. Tinubu has officially being in Nigerian politics for three decades or longer. We have seen his many achievements to include several legacy projects that whoever you support can never even parade one tenth of. He is only a mystery to those who do not understand political leaders especially those with decades-long history of active participation in politics, must be judged on their leadership capacity alone because that is what they owe us. I.e good political leadership especially since they have never been disqualified from running for office by any law or constitutional stupulation. |
Burruchaga71:Lol. The people who only know how to make empty threats they do not and will never have the capacity to make reality. Una no dey tire of ridiculing yourselves? |
SmartPolician:Show me the candidate you support and I'll show you factually why Tinubu is best to be President ahead of your choice. You and you co-travellers in mischief should know that, to progressive people, you are doing precisely what Obama famously stated about inferior political candidates and their supporters when he said "those who have no record to run on try to make others seem like candidates to run away from". That is all you are engaging because every progressive, dispassionately objective and truthful Nigerian will admit Tinubu is arguably Nigeria's greatest political leader since 1999 while his colleagues across Africa regard him one of the most influential political leader from our continent. It is a mark of who/what you and co-travellers are that you hold on to allegations, lacking court conviction, to then ignore all Tinubu's stellar and exemplarily pioneering achievements which including legacy projects that will outlast him while your heroes like Sule Lamido, Atiku and Obi have non to their names. |
Lexusgs430:No doubt dollars is the most convertible currency in the world but clearly punitive taxes and duty on imported good will make exporters to the US seek alternative markets. I am talking as someone already looking at doing that. Many SME's are in my position and their decisions will surely harm the US economy. Don't just take my opinion in isolation. Read the opinion of many experts and their conclusions. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2025/aug/11/trump-losing-trade-war
|
Lexusgs430:Myopic of Trump IMO. Yes the US market is "HOOOOOGE" but once others find alternatives then the US will be screwed. UK too thought herself bigger than the EU with the self-important belief the EU needed Britain and not the other way round. Today the UK is in tears and looking for ways to quietly re-integrate with the EU. Let's see how it goes sha but what is obvious is that the world is bigger than the US. |
tunapawizzy:Not a fight bro and I am not attacking you but that is what you wrote below talking of "coping mechanisms" and options the Nigerian sellers needs to utilise to remain "competitive" and active in the American market. Both options suggest compromise should be on the side of the Nigerian seller. Why? Is it not Trump and the US that have done wrong with this blatant trade war aggression. Many nations of the world are mad and looking to get back at the US now acting as if she is a trade enemy to the world because of Trump and his bigotedly pro-USA cabinet. We should act same as other nation and not be suggesting our business folks trading with USA must compromise, make losses and financially punitive adjustment just to remain in the US market If the USA is boycotted, Trump and his bigots will soon come to their senses. They cannot bully the world like this whereas, as you suggest, it is those who have done no wrong that should be looking to adjust to what is clearly infractions USA is causing to international trade between nations. Believe me when I say, as British Nigerian who voted for UK to remain in the EU, that the biggest regret of the British people in this century is their foolish decision to allow bigoted and older generation of anti-immigrant Brits vote for the nation to exit the EU. Trade is a mess now with the UK and her SME sector being the biggest losers by far. Trump is towing same path. Watch the video below to understand how the UK literally screwed itself with America doing same under Trump. Now the seller now has 2 coping mechanisms to explore in order to remain competitive https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NWDjctml7H4?si=YEEOmiC0zaxoPN0u |
tunapawizzy:You still don't get it. This is Trump fighting a protectionist trade war against the world as some of us predicted would happen. Stop seeing this from a Nigerian perspective alone. Nigerian sellers need to diversify their trade away from the USA. As simple as that. Many nations of the world are affected and will retaliate. Nigeria should do same. Stop presenting us as beggars over an act of aggression by the divisive character Americans chose as their President. No Nigerian trader should operate at a loss or for negligible profit because of duty Trump has imposed that other nations have not similarly copied. It is for Nigerians to accept they need to boycott the US market and seek entry into other markets of the world. I am affected and say "up yours" to the USA. They will regret all they are doing which are essentially actions initiating trade wars against others. |
kaludestiny10:This has nothing to do with Tinubu or Nigeria. It relates to the cancellation of the De menimis exemption that allowed goods of value less than $800.00 USD enter the USA without attracting duty payment. It is the part of the lunacy of Trump who has decided to wage a trade war against the world and China in particular. |
anonimi:What is wrong with you? What does this topic have to do with Tinubu let alone Nigeria. Grow up and learn to behave like a normal adult. |
Never is the short and simple answer. |
Nigerians are still so backward and ignorant. They should not have killed this beautiful animal. Not their fault as they are are largely illiterate, hungry and ignorant. What should have happened is to secure the Hippo and call appropriate authority (another failure entirely) to relocate it to natural habitat. |
Ttalk:Don't mind them. They now wish to claim that a problem they deliberately and irrationally caused themselves, against the advice of many of us, is a Nigerian problem. How disingenuous, irresponsible and dishonest are these people sef. |
Tohsynetita1:Correct because it cannot be any other way. I engage in international trade so I am up to speed with regulations affecting our trading zone which includes USA. De menimis exemption allowed good of value under $800.00 USD to enter the USA free of duty payment. Trump has now cancelled that meaning all good entering the USA now attracts duty payment. Though a general policy, the ruling is primarily targeting China as Trump and his policymakers feel Chinese businesses and good are gaining too much penetration into the USA. The reasoning is that Americans will look inwards for their purchase of goods if items below $800.00 USD, unlike before, now attract considerable import duty. You are correct that it is receiver that must pay because it is duty owed to the USA Government by those in the USA who have bought goods from overseas. Meaning the $80.00 must be paid by the receiver of the goods in USA and not sender. All VAT, Duty, taxes etc on goods are paid for by buyer/receiver of goods and not seller/sender of goods. |
Jezreelshak:Who is not violent in that region? Even new born baby comes out of the womb dishing slaps. |
Ironfaceman:It may be sentences for several offences running consecutively (one after the other) rather than concurrently (simultaneously) meaning if he got for 4 years for 4 different offences he would do 16 years. Whereas if the 4 sentences ran concurrently, he'd do 4 years. The 18 years seems very harsh sha for glorified pimping. Yet other more grave offences could be attached like kidnapping since he kept the women subdued under drugs. |
slivertongue:You too. |
LagosOrigin:You will never grow intellectually even if you live for 500 years. Anyone still thinking in terms of APC and PDP, to define Nigeria leaders, is simply living in a parallel universe Nigeria and not the one intellectually sound folks live in. You think Nigeria is UK you can then judge leaders performance based on their membership of labour or Conservative Party? Nigeria is failing because of people like you who cannot even work with reality, fundamentally, let alone be able to discern solutions our nation needs. If it is about APC, PDP etal defining leaders then why has your messiah Obi moved Political Parties three times now and your Hero Atiku at least four to five times? |
slivertongue:You are a huge joke. Goodbye |
slivertongue:Here we go again. Working with assumptions. A normal thing for prejudiced people. I was a very vocal critic of Buhari. I was one of those, circa 2022, who stated, without equivocation, that the extent of Buhari's misrule will shock Nigerians once he is out of power. I have been proven right. I even stated that Buhari's hideous misrule and deliberate security inaction, abetted by Fulani supremacists like Malami, was the reason the then PMB and his Fulani inner circle cabal did not want a notoriously independent-minded and politically powerful Southerner, in Tinubu, replacing Buhari. At the end of the day, you can think what you want. Until you answer the valid question demanding you to explain how you can proclaim ADC "rescuers" of Nigeria, when it is now factually brim full of the worst leadership ruinous hands in our nation, I remain correct that you are not a progressive or objective person. Your main interest is not the development and growth of Nigeria. It is the removal of "Yoruba Presidency" by any means possible you crave. otherwise you would not wish ADC, and a return of the likes of Malami and Hadi Sirika, on Nigeria. |
slivertongue:More incoherent talk. You are incorrigible. Beyond redemption. No surprise though. |
Ruke1990:Wise people understand the need to think for today and the future. That quality prevents them making rash and very costly decisions. Kanu pleaded, at an Igbo conference overseas, for gun to fight Fulani menace. His argument was similar to yours. He got his guns and gave them to ordinary Igbos with no psychiatric or security evaluation. How has that worked out for the SE today? So many examples of what not to do yet we never learn in Nigeria as an emotional people. |
aswani:Lol. 💯% correct. |
slivertongue:Who is deceiving himself if not you? I just listed a few names, out of many, who ruined Nigeria yet are now stalwarts of your "rescuer" messiah ADC yet you said nothing about that to double down on attacking APC. Do you even know what Malami did? Yet you are supporting a Party with hundred like him as members. Again, I know your type and the revenge mission against Tinubu and Yorubas making you shamelessly cling to and pretend far worse demons are now "saviours" of Nigeria. You are simply one of those "anyone but Yoruba President" crew. If not, and assuming you had even an iota of integrity, you will address the issue of why ADC is a congregation of some of the most leadership ruinous hands in Nigeria's history. |
Dangote is the personification of the word inspiration. Period !!!! Businessman extraordinaire and an example of global business syndication Nigeria needs far more of. |
Second and third picture exposes the folly and limitation of AI as the men all look the same, generically, with minor differences. |
seunmsg:Indeed. With assault rifles, robustness and reliability are the main issues. The AK-47 is very robust and reliable hence it's appeal globally as a mass-produced assault rifle. |
Ruke1990:If true, his action is madness not pragmatism. Guns in all hands is a recipe for disaster. That is what is destroying the SE and the North today with those provided with gun now using it to rob, extort, kidnap, rape, settle scores, target opponents etc. What Nigerians should do is lobby the government more aggressively for State/regional policing etc. The way to go is the British model where policing is so effective that policemen do not carry guns. Unlike USA that arms all citizens leading to multiple psycho school shootings yearly, domestic violence deaths and gang wars with countless homicides etal. |
Toruibestate:Show a valid link to your claim because , if true, then the action of the rep is illegal and he should be arrested for breaching Nigeria's gun laws. |
Below is a screenshot of my response to a poster that was taken out by a bot. Can anyone point to any offensive word at all? Abi "ethnicity" we can no longer use? Bots are programmed. We are not dumb. Seun, why don't you kukuma make Nairaland PG so some of us can seek our parent's consent to talk here?
