Politics › Re: Northern President Is The Best To Restructure Nigeria by WizardOfNG: 8:16am On May 31, 2025
Agbegbaorogboye:
Ok. Let me engage you maturely since that's what you want
First of all, you supported a very popular northern president for 8 years and all through the period it never occurred to you that he is in the best position to restructure (a word which he hated) until he left office.

Now, you support a southern president who has always posed as an apostle of restructuring when he was not in power and then you realise that the best people to restructure is one from the north.

How do you explain this your obvious confusion?

Secondly and more importantly, if the tax bills taught us anything, it is that northerners know how to submerge private interest for group interest. Even the VP was the first person whose state rejected the tax bill and he chaired the gov's meeting where it was rejected.

How much more restructuring which is seen as a southern agenda to pauperise the north by the northern establishment. Don't you think it is foolhardy to think there will ever be a northerner who will implement restructuring? Especially the way southerners crave for it?
When I tell you to stop arguing emotionally and pettily, based on personalised hatred for individuals like Tinubu, you start rolling on the floor like a baby.

Yet, again, you hijack an interesting topic to attack Tinubu as a "hypocrite" who cannot restructure Nigeria and make it appear OP is now recanting and claiming only a Northerner can when OP actually said "best" and not "only".

Yet I urge you, and other Nairalanders as well, to look at the bolded part in your post. The smartest, most critical thinking and most pragmatically discerning Nigerians will know Tinubu is aware of the bolded.

It is obvious knowledge of the bolded in your post, i.e awareness that thousands of Shiek Gumi exist to claim Tinubu's restructuring is a deliberate effort to pauperise the North, is guiding the utterances and actions of PBAT.

He is not overtly and openly shouting "restructuring" but only sentimental and biased folks , like you, will not understand many of his policies and reforms are key component of restructuring in all but name.

From removal of fuel subsidy, graudual phasing out of electricity subsidy, replacing education subsidy with loans to attract money into the education sector that then improves the quality of education delivered, floatation of the Naira, establishment of six regional development councils, Forest guards, total deregulated freedom of States to create, control and operate their own power solution etc, etc, etc, etc.

Even a blind man will be capable of discerning and 'seeing' much more than a prejudiced and simple-minded man, with problem-free vision, who prefers to shut his eyes and mind to remain very blind to what is obvious because he is always focused on individuals and never ideas.

This is a fine and educational topic I am sure you and others will use your small-minded outlook to ruin because of hatred for an individual i.e Tinubu.

Discuss ideas if you can and it will be obvious Tinubu, more than any other President post-1999, is firmly and clearly restructuring Nigeria for those who understands what restructuring is and what it aims to achieve

Politics › Re: Northern President Is The Best To Restructure Nigeria by WizardOfNG: 7:45am On May 31, 2025
helinues:
The rate of governance neglection in North heh, only a Northern president would be the best to restructure Nigeria.

No way a southern president would restructure Nigeria without affecting North biggerly. It would look like deliberate marginalization

Only northern president who must have considered the way forward in making north to catch up with others and perhaps the rest of the world can restructure Nigeria. North is vast but just few areas are developed.

Any serious candidate from north contesting in 2031 should make that his campaign slogan, he would receive reasonable votes from.the south
A Northern President will never restructure Nigeria. The sustenance of their leaders and elite, from politics through religious and cultural involvement, is now inextricably Linked to them having access to FG cash and ststipend. We must remember they created this rod for their own backs.

Till today, long after Awolowo liberated the Yorubas with free education, how many Northern leaders, to include the malevolently loquacious Atiku, do you see dedicating time and effort to achieving similar? I.e education, as much as possible, for all Northern children and especially the girl-child?

Instead their main concern is controlling the Presidency or head of State office that, already, they have held longest yet done nothing of note with.

It is like needing oxygen to survive. If you are to do without it then you need options. The North is not giving herself options and seem incapable of ever doing so, to the detriment of the rest of us, so others must move on for the sake of themselves and generations unborn.

A Southern President can restructure Nigeria and Tinubu is doing so in all but name. The key is to give every region the autonomy to control her own destiny rather than a deliberate effort to harm the fortune of the North.

Why should I tell you not to send your own child to the finest private school just to spare the feelings of my family when we refuse to do what it will take to ever send our child to a similar school? If my offsprings them get left behind, how is that your fault or headache let alone responsibility to fix?

Because they hate Nigeria and Nigerians. They don't want Obi as President because they suddenly now love the "Zoo" or her "animals".

They want him in Aso Rock so he can help them be 'Lords of the Manor' in Nigeria.

Lagosians, in particular, know them well. Sanwo Olu is one of the best Governors in Nigeria yet they wanted to replace him with the Yoruba-hating GRV in the belief he can help them claim enough political ground and major offices for them to then use for a systematic takeover of Lagos.

Their history is all about usurpation, covetousness and deliberate attempt to dominate others. When such is resisted then they passionately hate those standing in their way.

This is why Awolowo is the man they hate the most in the world ever. Followed closely by Tinubu and then all prominent and powerful Yorubas they consider enemies of their covetous plans and usurpation deceit.

Abroad too, they are by far the biggest demarketers and demonizers of Nigeria.

The clown talking of black and white photo, for example, is only mocking his own ignorance. The image was taken on a cam light GPS camera that could have been worn, as part of field and combat operational wear, by the soldier on a helmet or chest.

I have blown up images to reveal how it shows precise GPS coordinates, details of location (Borno), date (05/30/25) and other specific info that can quickly be relayed to a command centre for logistic efficiency or assistance (air strike, ground troops etc).

May God save us from those who hate us yet live amongst us.

But if we are to go by inflation and currency value, na wa oooo shocked
You have this irritating and petty way of commenting, like women do, whereby you complement and bitch in the same statement when it should be one or the other.

Cardoso has done exemplarily well for those who understands floatation of a currency causes inflation yet such is a sacrifice that must be Borne by nations, in the short term, for the many long-term greater good.

Some of you just bang on a million times about inflation as if it has not been explained to you, at least a million times also, why it was necessary to float the Naira.

Is the problem illiteracy, bad belle for the current government or a fondness for mischief? Give Cardoso his dues and move on.

To them. they feel 'relegated' whenever they are not controlling Aso Rock.

The solution is to stop flogging this dead Horse called "national unity" and "one Nigeria". Put the poor Horse out of it's misery and let it die in peace.

1. FX
2. Fuel price
3. Prices of goods and services

Don’t know how much they’re paying you for this
They are paying me Loads actually. Putting that aside, inspect my post above. Do as I have directed another poster to do.

Read Rabiu's submissions on the many solutions fuel subsidy removal has brought and the economic 'internal haemorrhaging' it has ended for Nigeria to note your comparison is simplistic and unintelligently ignorant of the big and complete picture Rabiu illustraties and some of us get very well.

Ditto for Fx for those who know why, long term, Naira had to be floated on course to making it a strong currency with greater purchasing power parity and innate strenght.

Strenght it must draws from the quality of being a currency that accurately reflects the success of the Nigerian economy, in all measures that reflects the economic strenght of nations, rather than a 'gbajue' currency being subsidized to look like Real Madrid FC when it is indeed more like BCC lions of Gboko Football club in reality.

With the price of goods and services, that is due to inflationary pressure that will abate to a manageable baseline in the end but could not have been avoided by the initial and predictable hike in price of goods and services fuel subsidy removal and floatation of the Naira would cause.

Inflation is unfortunately the trade-off sacrifice Nigeria must make in the short term to get rid of the aberrant and regressive economic reality we have trapped ourselves in, over decades, that means Nigeria will never approach developed nation status unless a brave and resolute President emerge to bell the Cat as Tinubu has done.

I honestly don't patronise you when I say you'd understand what Tinubu is doing if you possess the mind to grasp the universally-proven economic logics and analytically verified thoughts behind his reforms and policies that are the cornerstones of the growth, development, progress of many nations from time immemorial.

Again, I will repeat that most of you did not read the submissions of Rabiu and merely rushed to speak.

I therefore challenge you, as one example, to read his thoughts on fuel subsidy removal shown below and come back to argue whether it is not a bitterly hateful enemy of progress alone who will join issues with what is written eloquently and with the winning logic shown below.

FUEL SUBSIDY REMOVAL

The removal of the fuel subsidy is one of the most important decisions taken by this administration. Before that, Nigeria was selling PMS at 200 or 250 Naira per litre, which was about 25 or 30 cents . I doubt there was any country in the world where fuel was being sold at that price. During my trip to Saudi Arabia for the lesser Hajj in February this year, I checked the pump price at one of the petrol stations as we drove from Jeddah to Mecca. When I converted the price to Naira, it was almost 1,500 Naira per litre. That was Saudi Arabia.

We could simply not afford the subsidy. It was not just Nigerians who were benefiting from it. We were subsidising the entire region. I remember visiting Niger Republic a few years ago when President Bazoum honoured us. During dinner, he joked and said, “Thank you for the subsidy.” He said 100 percent of all PMS consumed in Niger was coming from Nigeria because it would cost them three times more to import. There was no incentive for them to bring in their own fuel or refine crude at their own refinery. This was the situation across the region.

Today, I understand that our fuel consumption has dropped by almost 40 to 50 percent. It is not because Nigerians are consuming less, but because neighbouring countries have stopped tapping into our subsidised fuel. The PMS is still cheaper in Nigeria, even at 800 or 900 Naira per litre, but the logistics no longer support easy access. Countries like Niger and Benin Republic still take fuel from Nigeria, but others have stopped.

The removal of subsidies was needed not only to save the economy but to ensure that Nigerians alone benefit from what is imported. Even if there must be subsidy, it should be for Nigerians only. The money saved is now being channelled to infrastructure, to better support for states, and to other developmental priorities. All the states are receiving more money now, and that has made a real difference.

I am of firm opinion that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu made the right decision, and he made it boldly. On the first day he took office, he did what everyone knew had to be done but no one dared to do. He acted immediately. Many criticised him, but he did the right thing, and it saved the country. Had we continued under that burden, only God knows where we would be today. I always say, Mr President is probably the only one who had the courage to take such hard and necessary decisions.

Imagine the beneficiaries of government policies trying to justify the government

Fuel subsidy unplanned removal raised prices and triggered inflation. Incomes are yet to rise to near those levels

By opening the borders to flood the country with imported food, more pressure has been imposed on the fx and local farmers and cottage industries have been shut out of business

Don’t even talk about the currency devaluation and runaway inflation on prices of goods and services
Many of you are just routinely bitter and hateful. Who you hate, you wish to remain unforgivingly hateful and dismissive of while permanently and totally disintrested in ever viewing their actions and utterances with an open mind.

As Nigeria marks two years under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I believe it is important to reflect, not from the lens of politics, but from the perspective of business, of industry, and of the economy . I speak not only as the Chairman of BUA Group - one of Africa’s largest conglomerates, but also as someone who has lived through the complexity of Nigeria’s reforms. I have seen the cost of dysfunction, the burden of inefficiency, but more importantly, the promise of a level playing field and the dividends of decisive governance.

Odin13 ,aka Asgard 17 to Asgard73, spoke like you and assured of powerful Northern "guerrilla Warriors" congregation to destroy PBAT and ensure he does not get the APC ticket.

I simply told him that Northerners, especially those in powerful political position and with ambition to go higher, will not do 'abobaku' for the outgoing Buhari because they will not commit political suïcide doing senseless and non-profitable 'shalaye' , and to the detriment of their oqn permanent political interest, for Buhari and other Northern hawks.

He insulted me non-stop. Come APC primaries, the many names he reeled off as potential killers of Tinubu's ambition were the same who overwhelmingly supported Tinubu to win the APC ticket with ease.

Same will play out in 2026 to 2027. No sensible Northern Young Turk will do 'abobaku' for Atiku, El Rufai and co they all view as disgruntled, bitter and vengeful Northerners who want to co-opt others into their dead union.

Many of these guys see the possibility of replacing Tinubu in 2031. What is their profit helping Atiku and El Rufai etal size power when that would put their ambitions and dreams on ice till 2043 I.e Atiku 2027 to 2035 and A southerner 2035 to 2043?

It's not about being bitter alone to then begin speaking as if your hearts desire will become reality. Make it make sense and tell us the profit for many Northern leaders to support Atiku, El Rufai, Malami etal.

We were only down this road in 2022 to 2023 so I am sometimes taken aback with the display of amnesia from some of you or perhaps it is deficit of logical thinking that is the issue.

That Atiku, El Rufai are making the most noise today does not mean they will be the most potent and influential players when the action begins in 2026.
