PoliticsRe: 2015: Oshiomhole To Vie For APC Presidential Ticket by wo1F(m): 4:02pm On Sep 21, 2014
ritux: I'm not a supporter of APC but a strong fan of GEJ/PDP. However, if Oshiomole picks the APC ticket, he gets my singular vote. Amongst the names of intending contestant mentioned above, Oshiomole seems to be the only one credible to vote for. Though that won't make me be a supporter of APC
Bros I see a reflection of myself in you in terms my current political ideologies. You're submission was my immediate position upon stumbling into this news.

I'm a core GEJ led PDP man. But I'm also a man of reason who bows to superior argument when he sees one. I'm Igbo but I'm an also an unappologetic nationalist. Any ticket from APC that see Adams and/or Fashola on it will get my vote. Anything short of these two, sai Jonathan till 2019

I hope the comrade Governor realises he'll get millions of undecided voters should he throw himself in the mix.
God bless my country

Christianity EtcRe: What Man Of God Is Pastor Chris Oyakhilome - Femi Aribisala by wo1F(m): 11:12am On Sep 21, 2014
Femi never disappoints. Tells it like it is. Thoroughly enjoyed the piece.
Truth is we made this 'MOG's' the Demi gods they are. From some of the comments above, you'll understand why people like Chris (he's no Pastor to me and I'm a christian okay?) will always arrogate infallibility to themselves. That is why we still have a certain TB Joshua still conducting his service and performing 'mriacles' today when infact he should be at Kuje prisons facing manslaughter charges for those over 80 souls lost.
Anyway for all them Chris Oyaks die hard faithfuls, just like Femi said, I got news for you too; there is no righteousness whatsoever in divorce okay?
RomanceRe: Why Nigerian Ladies Should Never Settle For Less by wo1F(m): 9:42am On Sep 21, 2014
Kachisbarbie: The lady never said we should settle for less - I guess y'all misunderstood her...she meant, we shouldn't be blinded by physical looks, sometimes marriage goes beyond the physique...just marry someone you wanna wake up to everyday (and vice-versa)...that's just it
-Never settle for less - always settle for the best, but then we can't satisfactorily define less/best...no single human out there is less

I think the problem we have these days arises from poor comprehension...the lady used words like- Obsessed, Most...she wasn't in anyway speaking in an affirmative, even though her points came out harsh

... why is there so much pressure/focus on the female folks and their choices in life?...I just don't gerrit
-they say 'marriage' is overhyped, yet it is one topic that gets so much attention...let it slide pls

P.S : The fact that you called her post 'stupeed' is unprofessional and...I don't know what else to call it... undecided...we can't all be of the same school of thought - respect her own reasoning.
-If you have to counter her, go back to her post, read/understand it properly...then counter her.

how exactly, would you come online and call someones' husband a PLAN-B, and an available that became desirable?? Jeez...I know this is a forum, but before you 'submit'...take a moment to review your choice of words...Thanks
This rebuttal Coming from a lady makes it even more sweet. Truth is Safarigirl is the female version of a male chauvinist. Most times I fail to get what her problem really is. Maybe its her petite physical structure, I don't know. But what I do know however is that she's loose with condescending words when it comes to her submissions here on nairaland.
I salute you for your unbiased and seemingly intelligent reply to the OP
PoliticsRe: President Jonathan Visits Oba Of Lagos As He Begins 2015 Campaigns (PHOTOS) by wo1F(m): 9:12am On Sep 21, 2014
Dygeasy: Confused lot! lipsrsealed

Does CAMPAIGNING now have a new definition in the dictionary? Cos I don't get it. undecided

Must they keep insulting our intelligence?
Did you not hear the INEC press sec? They've been exploiting gaps in the electoral act. That's what politicians are good not just here in 9ja but world over - exploiting gaps in the constitution. You remember the tenure limit interpretation fmr Gov Obi got from Supreme court and how other greedy governors now used it to stay in office beyond 4yrs until an ammendment was made to that effect?
This one too will pass. But for now I guess we have to settle with what we have
PoliticsRe: PDP Cancels Presidential Primary by wo1F(m):
Alexgeneration: PDP is really setting a bad precedent in this our nascent democracy. In advanced climes, even the best incumbents still go through the process of party primaries. We shouldn't keep doing things the wrong way every time.
Please don't take this the wrong way but you don't know what you're talking, okay?
In the US, whose Presidential system of Govt we copy pronto, the aspirants at the first shot at the White house all go through primaries quite alright just like we do here.
However after the first term if the occupier of the office of the POTUS wants wants a second term especially if he's done well, his party (be it Democratic or Republican) gives him a right of first refusal. Once he accepts to run, the party immediately adopts him as the sole candidate in the general election and goes on to ratify him at the convention.
That's has been the practice in US in their over 200years of democracy. Please get your facts right next time before rushing to foreclose on issues.

Obasanjo went to primaries in 2003 because he could not unite his party and even in his then vice, Atiku behind his vision. But a humble and meek Jonathan has. Its a mile stone and I'm proud of him

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Graduate Trainee Jobs In Lagos At Tizeti Network Limited by wo1F(m):
chiomanatalie: I couldn't make it today. How did it go?
Generally it was a well organised testing.

Personally though, not so well. It was a lot of drama for me. Had one of the weirdest experience yet in the job quest. Scaled through the first stage (an online CBT) only to be bounced by the MD himself at interview stage for the following reasons;

1) My score in the test were way over the charts (his words). Turns out I failed just one question of the given 45.
2) Perhaps the most potent and plausible reason on why I was bounced; my area of spec Said I definitely was going to leave them for an IOC as soon as I joined. See me na, contract staff for where I dey work now and IOC cheesy cheesy. Pulled all the tricks of compulsive persuasion and even attempted a Harvey Spector/Mike Ross quotient...for where cheesy cheesy Dude had cast his irrevocable die. Instead he made me a deal that if I don't have a job with these IOC's in 6months, that I should give him a call. Strange

Overall I think it was an orderly test. There was a bit of suspense with the dropping and progressing of applicants to the next stage. They first called out and separated the guys that flunked it leaving about 10 of us with the impression that we had flunked it instead. Made for quite a nervy moment.
They're a green horn in the ISP business. I guess and rightly so, that they need certain level of assurances with their recruits that they are gonna stick with them in the long term as they prep to break into a market already dominated by sharks like Swift, Smile, xerox etc. I wish them the best and congrats to the folks that'd eventually resume with them

oladayo042: That you have not gotten the second mail is actually a good sign. Afterall, it is better than getting a regret mail five minutes after the assessment report.

My best bet is that there are some superpower combinations that they are considering whether to accept/reject. This may explain why some people got the second mail (both acceptance and rejection) immediately after the assessment report and some are yet to get it few days after their report.
You were right.
They just mailed me for the second stage

uzolexis: My friend and I met this guy in Abj,he's a minister's son (i won't say which minister). One day we went with him to see his dogs, the dogs stay in one of his father's houses in Prince and Princess estate (houses in that estate are pretty expensive). The house was a 5 bedroom duplex and guess who lives in the house 3 of their dogs and 2 men in the boys quarters who take care of the dogs,we were dazed shocked shocked A very big well furnished house just for dogshuh?
we finally went to their family house in maitama, Christ , I cant even remember how many cars i saw in that compound, the boy has 2 cars of his own,his sister also. the house was so big every room had an intercom to call each other. Infact lemme stop here,Nigerian politicians are very greedy....
Nice one Uzo. You've validated this excellent post from the OP. Not that I needed your account for validation, No as I have about 4 or 5 folks who already fit the profile expressed by the OP. Your submission has however brought to life the picture the OP was trying to paint. Its disheartening and awfully pathetic.

For some of us we've always known Abuja to be a city of very superficial foundation and misleading economic indices. But reading this expose from an insider is heartbreaking to say the least. Sadly I have to admit that as a nation we have a long way to go.

Lastly I couldn't help but notice this piece was written in 2013. Mods like WTF? huh Please help Nairaland grow intellectual content by bringing sound piece like this to the homepage and not all this one one naira threads that litter the FP.

And then to those folks who skipped this marvellous piece only to return with a plea of summary, I say to you; My Condolences. You might just be the next victim of a con within a con ploy of Abuja mortgage brokers wink

3cycle: I come from a family of strong people, breakups don't hurt badly. Shit happens anyway

We lost our dad some years back and the same year (3weeks later), sister got the news that her boyfriend of 3yrs was getting married.
She accepted her fate and moved on..
Just last month she tied the knot with a rich business tycoon. (Aku na takasi 1) grin

So that it didn't work out with a particular person does not mean it won't work out with another.

basille: All core and authentic igbo names has diminished over times and the little ones remaining is either been contaminated with the word"chukwu/chi" by over religious freaks or englishdized by jobless youth with no comprehension and appreciation of their culture.
Why not share those names?
That's the whole point of the thread

kenex4ever: My best igbo names without chi, chukwu, are:
Olaedo(reserved for my daughter)
Kesandu
Somadina
Lotanna(Love dis one, never knew its an igbo name until now: it means REMEMBER GOD or Father)
Kachiside
That "Olaedo" would be so fab if she can maintain the name into her adult life rather than going for its short form - "Ola". To me without the "edo" it looses all the sweetness and indeed the whole intention behind the naming.

That in part is how the erudite scholar, Ngozi Adichie carved a niche for herself by maintaining all the syllabules of "CHIMAMANDA" turning it into a brand. Unlike this 21st century airheads who would jettison the "CHIM" upon entering the university
CultureRe: Common Beautiful Names From The Igbo Tribe by wo1F(m): 8:10am On Sep 16, 2014
jcmaiah: My Igbo name remains the sweetest Igbo name of all time... Chihurumnanya, but since I am male I changed it to Chukwuhurumnanya. In ancient Igbos a mans name don't start with Chi, rather Chukwu. A womans name can end with both chukwu or chi but cant start with it.
Example... Chima=female, chukwuma=male.
again some names that are 99% used by female has male users too.
Example... Chioma=female, Chukwuoma=male.
Chiamaka=female, Chukwuamaka=male.
Igbo name abuses are common in abia state and part of ebonyi. In abia u see a man bearing Chinyere or Chioma.
Thanks for this insight
Had a close friend during service by the name Chioma. Always found it difficult to address him by that. Most times I'd just go with "Onyem meaning My Guy" grin

And you're right; he's from Abia State!
