carpenter4lyf:Does the fact that you are a minority in the world mean you don't matter? Religious people who don't believe in hell exist, and they do matter. They have other reasons why they are religious in spite of their not believing in hell. So the teaching of hell is not the only reason religion exists. That's my point. |
carpenter4lyf:They exist, majority or minority. Are atheists the majority in the world? |
Badoo gang is the new boogeyman. They are to blame for everything. |
adepeter26:Not true. There are religions that do not teach the hell doctrine. You need to be informed about the different religions in the world. It is very likely that your Abrahamic religious background made you come to that conclusion. |
ZarZar:See how you've got me blushing like a European . I can't even remember my skin colour anymore. Why did you share your full pic in my absence. I want to see pinshure ![]() |
ZarZar:You called me "beautiful"! What a coincidence!. That's exactly how I feel about myself. You just keep seeing what no one sees in me! |
ZarZar:I was deeply into christianity, read the book cover to cover and preached on the streets even. I did everything wholeheartedly. I got past that stage where I felt there was probably something I hadn't done or wasn't doing. You see that's where the trick in religion lies; the elusive level of faith, holiness and completeness with the creator. That holy grail is what you'll chase till you drop. I had so much faith I must have scared some people, but things failed not once or twice- countless number of times. Nobody could convince me my faith was not enough. It was at that time I knew I was delusional. I snapped out of it, became really angry for a while, then I began to see things really clearly. You see, what keeps people religious is their own thought blocking mechanism. So many things you want to question but you won't allow yourself. I am not an atheist though. I find atheism unsatisfactory. |
ZarZar:Good morning. Hahahahahahaha I don't live by the book either. I was messing with you. It's the typical response of brainwashed people though. But for what it's worth, the book also says by their fruits you shall know them. So a con artiste is a con artiste by his fruit. It does not matter if he is one of the brethren. I agree with what you said about religion having a link with mental illness. The day it hit me that religion was making me flirt with it was the turning point. |
ZarZar:But the bible says do not judge. I don't think that's fair! ![]() |
ZarZar:Two things I notice in your languages is how strong your "R" are (very close to how spanish people articulate theirs) and the click sound. Do all your languages have the click sound? I think if you'd met Hausas you'd see the yelling thing does not apply to them. And considering that they are the largest ethnic group they should be the "typical Nigerians." They don't travel out that much though. When they do, they mostly go to other countries. |
ZarZar:I've never counted or consulted an official list. I think they are above twenty dialects at least. If you remember hearing some Nigerians in SA speaking a language that sounds like they are singing, it is most likely Yoruba. It is a very tonal language. Is your Xhona one of those languages down south that have the "click" sound? |
ZarZar:I am Yoruba but I belong specifically to the Ilaje dialect. They are fishermen. In fact, they literally live on water. Sleep is the easiest thing in the world for me. All I have to do is close my eyes for some minutes and I'm gone. |
ZarZar:It's the first time in a long while I'm fishing. When I was a kid I used to really do it because of where I was then. It's the traditional occupation of my people. With my spare time I do basic video editing and basic animations(emphasis on basic) talk to the good folks on nairaland. I play scrabble too sometimes. Before I forget, I sleep a lot too. |
zarzar Good. You fish? Nice. What else do you do on your spare time It's the first time in a long while I'm fishing. When I was a kid I used to really do it because of where I was then. It's the traditional occupation of my people. With my spare time I do basic video editing and basic animations(emphasis on basic) talk to the good folks on nairaland. I play scrabble too sometimes. Before I forget, I sleep a lot too. |
ZarZar:I was out chasing money a little, then fishing, now back in the house. |
ZarZar:What's good? How's today been? |
Ziinno:It's not inconceivable to me that a person would not want to be a politician. I KNOW everyone does not want to be a politician. |
Ziinno:Is Donald Trump not a business man? Is he doing as good as Obama who was not? The skill set needed to run a business is not exactly the same as that needed to be a politician. You can't just wake up and fire everyone whom you don't like in politics. It takes more emotional intelligence to be a successful politician. You might interpret Candido Joao Da Rocha's attitude as nonchalance while some would interpret it as naivety. He was a philanthropist who was helping people around him. Imagine at what scale he would have made an impact if he had been successful in politics. Don't assume he did not consider that when he came out to run. |
ZarZar:I am trying not to get too involved on NL too, but I don't know what you mean. Better for both of us? Mademoiselle, speak for yourself. I know what's good for me and I tend to gravitate towards it. |
Ziinno:Dangote and Bill Gates have never come out to run for any office. This man however did. |
ZarZar:I needed to be sure it was not lost in transit. Is it because I did not send flowers with it? Are there africans who love flowers? |
ZarZar:The private one. |
ZarZar:You felt not inclined to give my message consideration. |
Ziinno:People who say what they mean always lose elections. He was a smart entrepreneur but a foolish politician. |
ZarZar:Looks like mine. |
ZarZar:I won't mind going for the BB show if they didn't have the winner-takes-all thing. I don't like fame without money; it makes people become desperate. But if there's a show like that where a substantial monetary reward is guaranteed, I would go for it. If they like they can throw me out in the very first week, I won't care. Is Amazing Race not the show where couples compete against other couples? I think I've seen it like once or twice but I did not follow the show. |
ZarZar:Just the idea of someone being watched 24/7 was what brought it into my mind. It's a story about a futuristic society where people's every move are watched by a big brother- the state. It is from there they got the Big Brother show concept. Do you see yourself ever going for a competition like that? |
ZarZar:Who knows what you'd be doing next? Just know there are surveillance cameras everywhere. Speaking of cameras, did you ever read "Nineteen Eighty-Four" by George Orwell? |
ZarZar:Sweetie, I am not talking about shyness. What if I wake up tomorrow and I feel like kidnapping the competition? I've abandoned that life but you're provoking me here. |
ZarZar:It is one of my names. Be careful how you say names all over the place. You don't want that guy to disappear. |
ZarZar:I'm a happy medium. |
Lionessza:Princess, princess, princess, I fear you've been keeping too much the company of commoners. What business have you with peasants who are easily deceived to kiss the ring of every pretender to the throne of a West african kingdom? What true west african king needs a trophy queen who adds no value to his kingdom except one who knows he is no king? Princess, there are kings and there are pretenders. Have you forgotten that the dominion of this west african king here extends beyond west africa to as far as Tajikistan? |
